About Love For Yourself

laitman_527_02Question: Is self-love a bad thing?
Answer: On the contrary, it is a necessary sensation in a person when he or she realizes that one loves oneself and does everything for one’s own good. For the sake of this good, he discovers the method of attaining life until he reaches its essence. All this stems only from self-love, from great egoism.
Question: Is self-love an attribute of egoism?
Answer: Self-love is egoism: I love myself and want to fill myself, it is crucial for me.

Who Is A Kabbalist?

laitman_237Question: At what point can a person who studies the wisdom of Kabbalah be considered a Kabbalist?

What Determines The Frequency Of Spiritual States?

laitman_947Question: How can we accelerate the frequency of the change of states during a convention?
Answer: That depends on many parameters, but mainly on the group, on the ten you are in.
If you are ready for a breakthrough, you will be able to do it even independently of others. It is very important to know that and to try to fulfill it.
Question: What does the pace of the transition from one level to another depend on? Does it depend on our degree of despair or on our sensitivity? How can we go through the states of despair faster?
Answer: That depends on your merging with others.

The Principle Of Tithing

laitman_560Torah, Deuteronomy, 26:12 – 26:13: When you have finished tithing all the tithes of your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give [them] to the Levite, the stranger, the orphan, and the widow, so that they can eat to satiety in your cities. Then you shall say before the Lord, your God, “I have removed the holy [portion] from the house, and I have also given it to the Levite, the stranger, the orphan, and the widow, according to all Your commandment that You commanded me; I have not transgressed Your commandments, nor have I forgotten [them].
You should give everything you can to others, and what you can’t give, you grudgingly leave for yourself because your egoism doesn’t allow you to tear away more from yourself. Therefore, the instruction is to give away a tithe, nothing more is required from you. But it is a tough condition.
A tithe is a tenth part of the net earned product that you have to pick out and instead of using it yourself, you give it for the use of others through the Temple. Through the Temple means for full bestowal that has no relation to you. This means giving to the Creator. You give unselfishly, without gaining any benefit for yourself, because this is for the Creator.
Question: Does it mean I don’t even know where it is going?
Answer: This isn’t yours! You give and that’s it. Let’s say, you have 100 sheep, 10 of them you give away, but it isn’t easy, as if you cut something from yourself. It is very difficult for a person.
However, the fact is that this difficulty isn’t even quantitative, but qualitative because you must give constantly despite your egoism. Many people in our world give various donations. A person clearly understand that it is all for him! Otherwise he wouldn’t be able to give because we all are egoists.
However, here the state appears when you understand that you throw away your tithe into vacuum, into an interplanetary emptiness. Therefore, it breaks away with an incredible difficulty.
Comment: Sometimes you say that if a person doesn’t give away this ten percent, they won’t do him any good anyway.
Answer: Everything in our world happens in this way: If you don’t voluntarily give something that you need to give away, it is taken from you forcibly. After all, the world nevertheless must exist, and it exists according to the laws in which the principle of giving away the tithe is observed. Although we don’t see and don’t know it, it is taken away from us. At that we suffer, we don’t want, we are not ready to give, but we see that we lose.
And all this instead of the opposite, to receive while giving.

The Book Of Zohar Is A Source Of Information

laitman_250Question: How was The Book of Zohar written? Did its authors rely on some kind of source like the Torah, for example, or did they write everything only from their attainment?
Answer: The authors of The Book of Zohar had no library, computer, or connection to any information because the information itself was found within them; they were its source.
All ten people who wrote The Book of Zohar were one single spiritual body in which all the information that they described and partially expressed was found.

Beauty In The Eyes Of A Kabbalist

laitman_282_01Question: What is beauty from the point of view of a Kabbalist?
Answer: Beauty is an association of what cannot be associated. In this case, a person has a feeling of joy and happiness.
I would call someone beautiful if he had very huge contradictions that he is constantly working on and bringing into balance and completion.

Where Did The Congresses Come From?

laitman_944Question: Where did the congresses come from? Are there historical facts indicating that Kabbalists used to bring thousands of people together and hold such events, or is this something new?
Answer: There is nothing new here, and we are not inventing anything.
Kabbalah is built on the laws of the upper world; therefore, in everything we do, we must find out whether it is in accordance to its laws. Otherwise, it might harm us.
Conventions were held even in ancient Israel when people were in attainment of the upper world.
Kabbalists used to come to the Temple in Jerusalem three times a year: on SukkotPesach, and Shavuot in order to study and to participate in the study and the meals with everyone. What is more, throughout the year people used to come to the Temple to study and have meals together. This was considered a very good deed, and we may even say, a Godly one.

“Obliterate The Remembrance Of Amalek”

Laitman_155Torah, Deuteronomy 25:19: [Therefore,] it will be, when the Lord your God grants you respite from all your enemies around [you] in the land which the Lord, your God, gives to you as an inheritance to possess, that you shall obliterate the remembrance of Amalek from beneath the heavens. You shall not forget!
Don’t forget that you must constantly obliterate the memory of Amalek.
Under no circumstances weaken your focus, be always on guard, and remember that Amalek—the intention for my own sake—can approach you at any moment, get inside of you to some specific desires and intentions, and steal them for himself. In this way, he will again receive sustenance from you, and you will be weakened on your path.
Question: When does the Creator finally give repose?
Answer: There is no repose.

2,000 Years Before The Creation Of The World

The further away we drew from the Torah throughout our history, the closer it got to us.
How Did the Torah Become a Book?
“And when He desired and thought of creating the world and it was revealed in a desire before Him, He would look at the Torah and create the world.” (The Book of Zohar, “Toledot“)
Just think about it, the world did not even exist but the Torah already did. He did not look at a book when he created the world. It wasn’t the book that was given to the people of Israel at Mt. Sinai.
The Torah is a comprehensive development program, a complete guide to creation. This is the matrix we are all part of. It is impossible to overcome it or to run from it. But once, at a certain moment of growing up that was predetermined by it, we will know about it. We will not simply receive information, but we will be conscious of where we are and what is happening to us.
It is the same with a small child who after the first “unconscious” years begins to understand that he is living in a vast world and this world requires his participation. In the evolution of man, there comes a time when the matrix awakens him from his infantile oblivion. He says goodbye to his crib and the nursery, opens the door, and leaves his home.
At that moment, everything changes: the world acquires volume, sound, colors, and meaning. It turns out that life is a path that has an eternal goal, and we can advance toward consciously, through our free choice, together. Then it isn’t only the matrix that impacts us, but we too impact the matrix.
Thus, we become acquainted with the general plan and with the force that operates us. A couple of thousand years ago humanity reached this level. People who called themselves Kabbalists discovered the only system of reality and began to study its laws, to connect to it, and to describe it.
Thus, they attained the Torah, wrote books that reflected its attributes and laws and most importantly—the direction it shows us. They saw the general picture and understood the general process, just as we understand the general phases of the development of a baby.
“Before the world was created, the Torah had preceded the world by two-thousand years.” (The Book of Zohar, “Truma“)
At the peak of the attainment of the plan, a whole nation lived by being conscious of its laws in a reality that was much broader than ours. But one day everything disappeared. It fell from its height, and with it the hopes for the whole world collapsed. Then the Torah became merely a book, which tells us how we should live on Earth, a special holy book. But we have already forgotten the structure of creation, the method of ascending above ourselves, the tool for attaining unity in the world.
The door was closed and we returned to the nursery where we have been living until this very day.
The Disruption of High Frequencies
There are 54 Parashot (sections) in the Torah, 613 commandments, 79,976 words, 304,805 letters. It is read in synagogues during the year according to the weekly Parasha. It includes the history of the Jewish nation, of its leaders, starting from the forefathers until Moses, the Tower of Babel, the land that the Creator had shown Abraham, the wandering in the desert, the slavery in Egypt, Mt. Sinai that shook in flames and smoke…
If we read the Torah this way, if we understand it this way, the main part is missing and it is a wrapping without a filling. Read this way, it is detached from the roots, projected in print on our ordinary consciousness, and is fixed under the title “Holy Scriptures.”
This is how it is transmitted through the egoistic perception of the world and ceases to be the plan of our development. It is not moving; it isn’t attractive; it doesn’t develop us; it doesn’t reveal new worlds, and does not give us the power to reveal them, but actually calms us and puts us to sleep. For some, it may be a tradition; for others, it is a collection of absolute laws of our corporeal existence. In the past it united the nation, but now it divides it, breaks us apart, and puts people on two sides of the fence.
No, this isn’t the Torah, it isn’t the force that changes a person that pulls us out of our primitive ego that is limited to our corporeal life. In the past it called us upward, and now it has become a means of pressure on people, compelling, demanding, and limiting them. People study it by heart, verify it by different historical findings, and undermine its ideological basis. Religions grow around it, mysticism and cynics gather around it, philosophers quote it, and scientists study it trying to decipher its code.
It has turned into the best seller of all times and of all nations long ago. Those whom the Torah calls “homeowners” wave it because they don’t want to step over the threshold and leave their “home” for something greater.
“Small, limited people come along indifferently filling us with different drugs and mainly keep the drug of life out of our sight…in order to suffocate the Creator’s voice calling us from the depths of the soul and filling all the worlds: demand Me and live.” (Rav Kook).
When the great holiday of the giving of the Torah arrives, we once again reject it, which leaves us with the book again. Even if it is special, even if it is holy, it is a book and not the great tissue of the creation into which we are woven, whether we like it or not, a book, not a huge world, and not a majestic system that surrounds us because for us it was created.
We reject it. Why? Because it lives in bestowal and teaches us the same thing.
Poison at the Tip of the Blade
“The major principle of attaining the Torah is unity, as one man in one heart.” (“Maor Va’Shemesh“)
At Mt. Sinai we were given a common approach to the general system and we were allowed to consciously come in contact with it, to study it, to explore it, and to be incorporated in it in our mind and feelings. The access code is love of others, the software interface is a relationship with others that is based on bestowal. The Torah is meant to reveal the conglomerate of the forces that operate on us, impact us, and enable us to be mutually and effectively connected with them. Thus, we use the Torah—we leave the nursery, grow up, and mature.
The transformation does not take place in our fantasies, not in the next world, but here and now, in ascending above the ego, and this is the reason that it is so easy for a person to check himself and whether he receives the Torah as a pain killer or as an excuse. The criterion is simple: we use the Torah just as we treat each other, either as a medicine or a poison.
Judging by the current situation, we find ourselves at an impasse, divided, crushed, quarreling, and accepting all that as inevitable. It isn’t the positive force of the Torah that accompanies us on the way to our goal, but the negativity of our own essence, which we are used to, but which is just as destructive,
In the meantime, the world is growing in its diapers and reaches situations in which it will not be able to manage without a wise teacher. It is only in theory that a person is able to soberly assess the situation and come to the right conclusion. In practice, our desires are much stronger than us, and even on the verge of an abyss, we will continue to carry on with our childish acts. This is our nature.
The sages use the clear and bitter metaphor of seeing the angel of death with a drop of poison at the tip of the blade of his sword and the “obedient” man opens up his mouth and swallows it. It is because we cannot do things otherwise. Even our wise nation has fallen into this trap of the ego, and it seems that once again it is ready to head toward the “slaughter” judging by the conflicts in Israel and among the Jews abroad. For them, Israel is becoming a useless liability from which they will be happy to cut themselves off once and for all.
This outcome is inevitable unless we accept the Torah, unless we become responsible for each other despite the mountain of doubts and hatred that is looming over us. This is where our free choice is, since the Torah, unlike the angel of death, works only if we want it, if we need it, not only in words, but in deeds, if we regard it as a medicine for our divisiveness, as the wisdom of bestowal and of the right mutual cooperation with the general system.
Hurry Up to Love
We are all different and we see the world differently. This is quite normal. The Torah doesn’t require anyone to give up his principles and beliefs. It does not need artificial socialist compromises. It raises us to the level in which only the hearts and the connection between them remain. Then everything merges together.
“Hurry to love, for the hour has come.” (Rabbi Elazar Azikri)
No one is right or to blame. We all find ourselves before our mountain of hatred, at some point, facing the need to make a common decision. Its essence is the birth of man, the birth of a new society, of a new attitude to life and to each other. When we yearn for that, the system will help us, guide us, and answer our questions. But if we don’t, it will make us face the facts that are presented to us at the tip of the blade of a sword.
Therefore, if the question is whether to receive the Torah or not, we will receive it. The next question is whether we hasten love.

When Feelings Are Silent

laitman_939_02Question: From my experience, I can say that there are people who feel that when they unite at a convention, it is good for them; they really feel spiritual elevation. And there are those who do not feel anything at all.
In which cases should a person feel something if he has not yet developed altruistic characteristics? If a person is feeling with egoistic characteristics, it is not called unity. What would you advise those who do not feel anything?
Answer: It depends on the attitude of the person toward what is happening. Let him sit and cry about not feeling anything instead of flaunting the fact saying, “I don’t feel anything and I don’t care, you go ahead and worry.” It should be of great concern to him, because his whole life could continue like that, just as half his life has already passed, and what is the reason for it?
A person must yearn for the highest quality in our world and the upper world to be revealed to him, meaning the Creator, the power of nature, which holds all of creation within it and manages everything.
If I am a sociable person who loves the group, loves unity, then my connection with others is basically prosaic. It interests me to be together with everyone, I spin around, shout and dance; that is one thing.
But when I do all of this because I must discover the Creator, that is another matter. To do this, I am ready to act like a little child. I will do whatever they tell me, because I want to achieve my goal. Therefore, I will do everything in order to enrage my ego. Let the ego “provoke” me, and to spite it, I will step over it and move on.

Dreams In Kabbalah

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Does a dream have any place in Kabbalah? What kind of research is a prophetic dream?
Answer: There are no prophetic dreams in Kabbalah.
A dream in the material world is just a normal animalistic state of our body, reliving everything it went through during the day, and nothing else.
A dream in Kabbalah is an ascent of a Kabbalist to the next level of awareness, when it is not yet fully formed in him, and therefore is called a dream.

Torah – The System Of Connection Between Creator And Creation

laitman_549_01The Book of Zohar, “Lech Lecha”: How beloved is the Torah by the Creator, by which virtue the man is rewarded with life in the future world. And everyone who teaches the Torah to others is more important than everyone else.
The Torah is called the upper Light (Ohr), which acts on one who studies it in the right way, that is, wants to reach a higher level in the Torah than the one he is on now.
He wants to become more altruistic, giving, loving, more connected with others and supporting all. In other words, he wants to become like the Creator—kind, complete and bearer of good.
If a person strives so to change himself, then the upper Light, called the Torah, acts upon him and pushes him forward to this state. And then he feels that he is changing.
Of course, in these changes there are ups and downs, a change of all kinds of states, but from all of them, a person learns how much the Torah actually influences him and acts in him.
First of all, a person must acquire desires to bestow and faith above reason, and then he goes beyond the boundaries of this world. This world begins to dissipate like a mirage because it exists only in our egoistic imagination.
In Kabbalah, our world is called the “point of this world” because there is no other point in it. When we go beyond the boundaries of the egoistic point and expand, we begin to feel the abundance and significance of the Torah, adhering to its Tree of Life. And if not this, then we will remain in darkness, inside a tiny, black point.
The Torah is the Light of the world of Infinity, which according to the program of Creation (HaVaYaH) was divided into 620 Lights, whose purpose is to act on the corrupt desire and correct it. A person must correct his desire with the help of this Light, and on the other hand, he must himself awaken this Light.
He cannot change himself without the upper Light, but the Light must be attracted, and for this, too, the Torah is necessary. It turns out that the whole system connecting the Creation with the Creator and the Creator with the Creation is called the Torah.

To Change Human Nature

laitman_265The change in a person’s nature from egoistic to altruistic happens under the influence of the special force of nature, the upper force that returns to the source (the Torah). However, for this it is necessary to attract such an influence on ourselves.
The method of the wisdom of Kabbalah is designed to attract the Light of correction to us to help us to walk this path until our complete change.
When a person develops new altruistic demands, requests, and relations toward the surrounding world, then it is possible to begin building a new society, country, or world with him, but not before this.
The Bolsheviks tried to do this by force, without correcting a person. However, since people are egoists, everything ended with a big collapse, scandal, and many deaths. It is impossible to force a person to be an altruist; we cannot go against nature, we just must change it.
A society that will be formed when a person is educated in an altruistic manner will understand what it wants to create. It is a constantly developing new formation where people live in the sensation of completely different principles. Unlike the present filling of themselves, their fulfilment will come from bestowal, adhesion, connection, and love for each other and for the entire surrounding nature.
Through these relations with each other and with nature, they will feel completely different forces and connections that are called the upper world. In this new, mutual and altruistic unity, they will feel a force between them that will not press them to use each other like in our world when I look at others and want everything they have.
On the contrary, they will discover the force of bestowal and love between them, and this common force will appear to them, not as our nature, but as the Creator, because they will feel in it an upper degree, upper value, and upper will. In this way, by connecting with each other, they will begin to adhere to this upper force. This is the principle of the existence of the corrected future generation.
However, the Kabbalists warn that if we do not hurry, we will be forced to come to these states by big blows of fate that will force us to give up egoism. It will reveal itself as bringing us misfortunes, and will make us renounce it.
This is like placing poisoned food in front of a terribly hungry person. What can he do? It will be exactly this state that a person will be in before his correction.
He will not be able to use his egoism because he will see to what extent it is killing him. On the other hand, he will not have any opportunity to get up and act outside of egoism because all his thoughts, feelings, inner understanding, habits, and relation to everything, is completely consumeristic and egoistic.
Today, we gradually are beginning to build a new society, educating ourselves in our big international group, and preparing for unity based on the altruistic principles. All of humanity must come to this in the near future.

Change An Egoistic Sight

laitman_423_02The wisdom of Kabbalah says that we are born as egoists, separated, and solitary. Moreover, we treat each other egoistically. Each looks at others and sees them only through the sight of beneficial use.
We evaluate others by how much they can harm me or bring me some profit. And if they cannot, I do not notice them. This is called looking at others only through an egoistic sight.
Therefore, our work is to change the sight and see in what way I can give everything I have to everyone and become a conductor of the Creator.
In principle, I have nothing to give, but if I want to do so, I can immediately connect to the Creator. Then the Creator will work through me for the entire world. And the whole world, for which I will work, will be called my soul. This is an altruistic connection.

Decide For Yourself

Laitman_101Question: To be honest, I do not want to study Kabbalah. But I have no choice because I feel I will not be left alone. Or am I wrong?
Answer: I don’t know. Try to quit. If it works—fine. If it doesn’t work, then make the final decision and come back. It is useless to run back and forth, study a little, and let go for some time. I would like to make it sharp: it is not worth it. It is no use starting, getting disappointed, and blaming Kabbalah instead of correcting yourself.
Studying the wisdom of Kabbalah has certain conditions. If you want to get into it, you must meet these conditions. If not, you should quit it, the sooner—the better.
Remark: But I have a feeling that if I do not study Kabbalah, the Creator will punish me.
Answer: There is nothing to fear! The Creator never punishes anybody for anything.
But you have a great opportunity to discover the upper world. Is it really not worth it?! What do you have in this world?! Another 20, 30, 40 years will pass… and that is all!
And here eternity is opening in front of you. You do not feel how you move from one world to another. You drop your body like a rocket drops its stages, and you keep flying.

Do People’s Thoughts Affect Our World?

laitman_423_02Question: How do the thoughts of ordinary people affect our world?
Answer: The thoughts of ordinary people do not affect our world in any way.
A person in our world who lives his everyday life merely carries out the laws of nature, which keep emerging in him and nothing more than that. He does not even exist in the spiritual system because he has no impulse or the ability to make his own moves.

Everyone Is Responsible For Himself

laitman_566_01Torah, Deuteronomy 24:16: Fathers shall not be put to death because of sons, nor shall sons be put to death because of fathers; each man shall be put to death for his own transgression.
The upper level is called father, the lower one is son. The upper cannot be completely responsible for the lower and vice versa. They have to adhere to certain types of connection in order to support each other, but can only be held accountable for the fulfillment of their own work.
Therefore, in a Kabbalistic group, as well as everywhere else, we stay in contact with each other, and each person has to understand the framework of his responsibility. Torah, on the one hand, talks of our complete unity with each other, and on the other hand, how we have to be responsible for ourselves.
I bear responsibility for helping my friends, but only answer for my own actions, and I have no right to delve into what is going on inside any of them.
I am obligated to put forth my share of the effort, support, and interaction because we are all small parts of one system. But I do not know how the next part will play out. I only answer for what I pass to it, but cannot assume another’s work. Everyone has his own freewill.
Question: How can I determine my particular part in the group?
Answer: You have to provide others with what they need for their normal functioning. Only this! That is why everyone remains free in their actualization and must give the others what he has to for their actualization.
There is a system of rules where parts of the integral system have to be connected to each other to satisfy the conditions of its proper functioning.

Congresses And Distances

Laitman_524_01Question: How should those who cannot come to a congress, relate to it? What specifically does their work consist of?
Answer: This is a big problem. There are many people from different regions who would like to come, but can not due to material reasons.
I can say only one thing: remain at your places, follow our congress, and be together with us as much as possible. And you will see that everything spiritual, in both us and you, simply transfuse like in one common vessel.
This relates to both physical and virtual groups. If possible, be connected to each other, organize meals together with us. Try to do everything the same as us.
Question: Do you think that more people will not be able to come to congresses in the future?
Answer: Yes, the world is moving downward. Let us hope that this movement will not put pressure on us in our daily life, but it will be more difficult to fly somewhere and participate in congresses.

Alone In A Crowd Of A Billion, Part 3

laitman_232_08.jpgThe problem of loneliness enveloping the modern world is related to the inner emptiness of man. And even when a person wants to rid himself of this state, he has no idea how to do it.
This is neither taught to us by our teachers in school nor by our psychologists and psychiatrists. The fact is that they too are lonely, and that’s why they cannot help us by giving advice on how to be free of loneliness and how to bring people closer.
No one knows how to even begin to bring such extreme individualists as our contemporaries closer to each other. Here only the science of Kabbalah can help because it explains how to establish contact above our egoism so that love can cover all transgressions.
The individuality of each remains, we are not trying to break anyone; rather, we are building one more level atop our nature: a level of unity, a common roof. We, individuals, exist under this roof and we build it together for the sake of harmonious existence and a happy life.
This roof is raised on the second floor. It does not cancel our individual qualities, but only helps us build a correct connection above them. Our relationships come to exist on two different levels, that is, on the inner level, I remain isolated and infinitely distant from others, while on the “second floor,” in the common connection built between us, we lock ourselves into a circle.
Inside of me is a “straight line” and my inner personal state doesn’t concern anyone. But with respect to others, I am completely open and ready to be with everyone as one man with one heart.
This is integration above isolation; in other words, both exist at the same time. This is a new method of connection derived from the wisdom of Kabbalah, and it must be taught to humanity. External interactions are built by the method of the circle, the method of integral connection, while the inner approach refers to the person himself.
In essence, these are not two distinct methods. They turn into one because the stronger we connect between us, the more it helps us develop internally, in our individual forms. It turns out that a person’s egoism continues to develop and grow. And this is exactly what enables us to build relationships between us as we connect in a circle; we are able to do this due to the fact that we are becoming continuously more egoistic.

Origins Of Culture

laitman_628_2Question: Where is the border between spirituality and culture?
Answer: Culture is not a separate concept.
The difference between culture, ethics, and spiritual situations, does not exist. Religion is the source of culture. Without religion, painting, literature, and music would not have developed. All of them began with religion, and developed externally later. But the foundations for all of them were laid in spirituality.
Question: There are tribes that do not maintain any of the world religions. They have their own culture, communications, behavior, and foundations.
Answer: Those tribes have their own customs. There are 2,800 kinds of religions and faiths that exist in the world.
Everything that there is in humanity has appeared thanks to religion. All the arts were created out of the religious need of humanity to express itself to the higher power.
Question: In the Torah, it is said: “Regarding his son, a father is obligated to circumcise him, redeem him, teach him Torah, marry him to a woman and teach him an art.” (Kiddushin 29a).
Answer: The intent of the word “art” is the characteristic of bestowal.

Proper Upbringing

Laitman_507_04Question: In your opinion, what kind of upbringing is correct?
Answer: The proper education is when a person knows how to integrate in human society correctly. He understands people, appreciates them, treats them in a good and courteous manner, understands their weaknesses, and can gradually integrate into their society and even help them to ascend.
When education is incorrect, then a person separates and divides himself from society, and harms himself and others that way.

New Life #858 – Our Attitude to Life: Fears And Anxieties

New Life #858 – Our Attitude to Life: Fears And Anxieties
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel
Summary
Fear is a feeling of lack of filling in the desire to live, to exist, to receive, yet the feeling of deficiency helps us advance.
A person can feel safe even in the worst situations in his life, if he controls his connection with the upper Light.

Punishment For Bad Deeds

Laitman_002Question from Facebook: Does the Creator punish people for bad deeds?
Answer: The Creator doesn’t punish anyone. He only corrects.
There are no punishments in nature. According to the laws of the wisdom of Kabbalah, even in our world, punishments must be very limited. There is no prison, the death penalty can be decreed once every few decades, and even this is considered to be an exceptional event.
There are no punishments from above. There is intention and support when a person is being pushed from behind toward correct deeds. The mistake is his punishment.
In other words, punishment is a type of lesson: why you did that and what was bad about it so that you will learn for the future. But, just punishment as punishment for something that you did doesn’t exist.
There is no connection between what you did and what you got. Instead of what you did, you simply need to learn how to work correctly. Relearning is considered a punishment in our world.

The Power Of Unity

Unity, The Way To A Good FutureQuestion: What is the power of the miraculous attribute of unity?
Answer: The power of unity is derived from people rising above their ego. The idea is not unity itself. Rather, it is a person attaining it by rising above his ego, and in contrast to it, he connects his desire with the desires of others. With this single and unified desire that is created from unity above the ego, a person achieves the wonderful attribute of unity.
Nevertheless, a very strong tension is created between the egoistic characteristics that want to sever the connection between us and the altruistic characteristics that connect us above the ego. This potential difference between the plus and the minus creates a state called a spiritual Kli within which the Creator is revealed.

A Taste Of Spiritual Unity

laitman_939_02Question: What is the connection between unity and pleasure from spiritual attainment? I have many friends, and I understand what the pleasure of friendship is. Is this something similar?
Answer: I never had many friends. In childhood and as a youth, I had a few friends, and later none at all. I had a friend with whom I studied the wisdom of Kabbalah, but I was already thirty years old then.
I do not know what a friend or friendship is in the deepest sense of the word. I can certainly imagine it to myself, but I have never felt or experienced it. I have been quite lonely most of my life. The question about the meaning of existence bothered and tormented me so that I had no aspiration to communicate or be in close contact with people.
The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us to have a different kind of connection: to come closer with a heartfelt connection, internally, not as happens on the physical level.
Kabbalah opens a person’s heart and he begins to understand what it means to be connected with others as a single whole. But this is on a spiritual level. In our world, there are no sensations of this kind. I have not felt or experienced them and I feel that other people don’t either because we do not understand what it means to be together with others with a heartfelt, close, and internal connection.
The taste of spiritual unity is a reciprocal dissolution into each other. These are not poetic expressions, but a real physical state.
