If You Want To Partner With The Creator

laitman_527_03Torah, “Deuteronomy,” “Ekev,” 10:18: He executes the judgment of the orphan and widow, and He loves the stranger, to give him bread and clothing.
Orphan, widow, and stranger are exactly the desires that seem to us unworthy of attention, something extraneous, absolutely not conspicuous, unnecessary, and unimportant.
Whatever seems important to your egoism is not important to the Creator. On the contrary, what doesn’t matter at all to your egoism, is even despised and rejected by it, are these qualities with which you can be connected to the Creator.
If you want to partner with the Creator, you must pay attention exactly to such qualities and correct them. There you certainly will see your work with the Creator.
The Creator is in everything that lies beyond your field of interest. Will you find your desires there? They aren’t there! Hence, we don’t feel the upper world, since it is in those desires that can appear within us, but they won’t be directed toward us, but from us outward.

From Father To Son

laitman_740_01Torah, Deuteronomy, 10:06 – 10:07: The children of Israel journeyed from the wells of B’nei Ya’akan to Moserah; there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son served as Kohen in his stead. From there, they journeyed to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Yotvath, a land with streams of water.
Death in the spiritual world isn’t a punishment or something terrible. When the son comes to replace the father it means the rise, for example of Aaron, to the next level.
It means he dies in his last guise, in his past performance of some actions, because he can’t rise to the next level without leaving his previous form. Then he obtains a new form that is called his son. But in principle, all souls are immortal.
They don’t lose anything; they only gain all the time. In other words, it is about a desire that transforms under different names until it comes to its final corrected state.

Extraterrestrial Civilizations On The Planet Earth, Part 4

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe wisdom of Kabbalah says that the future form of humanity that all of us must create together is as one man in one heart. By connecting together, we discover a new entity within us. Kabbalists of the past revealed it, but not completely, only partially. They connected between themselves in tens, hundreds, and thousands.
Modern students do the same, generating within their group a state that allows them to sense how to join the degree of unity that turns into a new entity at the upper degree.
This degree, where we become as one, is of higher quality than our present degree. After all, there we discover what force created and develops us. We begin to control this force; it becomes ours. Thus, we penetrate into the entire nature of our universe: the still, vegetative, animate, and human.
To do this, we don’t need to fly to distant stars because we penetrate into all creatures. This external world becomes our internal world. We will see that all of this boundless space with an infinite number of galaxies, stars, and planets is within us.
This will elevate us to a different level of existence. Everything that was at the previous degree already is included within us, and we reach a higher level called the Creator, or nature.
So Kabbalah perceives our entire universe and the force that acts in it. Of course, this has nothing to do with religion; it is a true science.
Question: Humans can do many things that animals can’t. What will this future degree, “One,” be able to do that today’s humanity can’t?
Answer: We will be able to rise above all matter—still, vegetative, animate, human—above time, movement and space, and above all existing limitations of this material world.
A person rises above the animal body in which he exists now, as well as above his present human level, meaning his desires and thoughts. We exit the three-dimensional space in which we perceive reality now and all of the limitations of time, and rise to a new level.
Imagine if we were not inside this animal body that also includes the vegetative and still levels within it, but only existed on the human level, that is, in our thoughts and desires; how much freer would we be? This degree we exist on today is a transition between the still, vegetative, and animate levels and the human level.
Everything that we have today is just a preparation in order to rise to the human level called Adam, meaning similar (Edameh) to the upper nature, the next degree. So far, this degree is hidden from us because it is a completely different dimension.

Everything Depends On Our Desire

Laitman_514_04Question: How can we speed up the spiritual corrections, which as we all know take millions of years?
Answer: It does not require much time since spirituality isn’t measured by years but actually depends only on our desire. We can “wait for the eggs to hatch” like chickens and not attain anything, or we can jump and leap above all these actions in a minute. It all depends on our desire.
The desire develops between us to the degree that we show each other what we want and spur different feelings such as hate, envy, and competition in each other. These are very useful.

“How Israel Became The Only ‘Island Of Stability’ In The World”

laitman_600_02In the News (cursorinfo): “‘The Middle East has plunged into chaos, Europe is falling apart, the political situation in the US is poor. The only stable place in the world – the State of Israel’ – so wrote to me last week, one of the most experienced and well-known employees of the State Department in Washington, a renowned expert on the Middle East. …
“Stability, of course, is a quite relative concept. However, an American observer, came to a similar conclusion; see the following picture: despite all the problems of the coalition government in Jerusalem, despite the lamentations of the parliamentary opposition, Israel has successfully overcome challenges in his way. At least it has a flourishing foreign policy. …
“Strengthening relations with India, China, Japan and other Central Asian countries is a major foreign policy achievement of Israeli diplomacy. In addition, Israel is developing its relations with the countries with which it does not have formal diplomatic relations – in areas such as the fight against terror, modern technology, science and economics. An important aspect of the present government’s foreign policy doctrine is a correlation between the interests of Israel and the events occurring in the world around us. For example, the Iranian threat and the threat posed by the Islamic State of Israel brings together a number of Arab states. Unlike past years, when various processes in the Middle East took place as a result of the intervention of the United States, now we are talking about the coordination of interests between the regional players.
“The Palestinian-Israeli conflict is no longer the main theme that occupies the leaders of Sunni Arab states. But they can not completely ignore the problem. Therefore, one should not expect that formal diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia will be concluded soon. However, Israel may use informal relations with these countries in order to promote a solution to the Palestinian problem.
“As for Europe, it is hoped that the aggravation of the internal problems of the continent, at least to some degree make more moderate insistence of the EU to promote the use of meaningless initiatives, such as the one that the French government pushed. Unfortunately, Europe does not understand the real problems of the Middle East, which are a threat not only to the region but also to itself.”
My Comment: Unfortunately this situation will soon be over and no one will buy any products made in Israel anymore. If the Jews do not begin to engage in their own unity, demonstrating an example of an integral society for the whole world, the world will bare its teeth to them!

New Life #772 – Selichot Between A Person And The Place

New Life #772 – Selichot Between A Person And The Place
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe
Summary
God, the Creator, HaVaYaH, the place, all these names refer to the upper force that created the desire to receive. The Creator fills the desire to receive to the degree that the desire to receive resembles the Creator who bestows. The Creator resides in the ties of bestowal between people who connect to each other. This is the place.
It says that it is useless to ask the Creator for forgiveness if you have not corrected your relations with others. Therefore, Selichot (prayers of forgiveness) should come from the connection between people into one group. This is where the Creator is revealed. The personal reckoning is to what degree I am connected to everyone in good relations. There is no account of myself.
The detachment from the Creator during the 2,000 years of exile distorted our true perception of soul searching. Everything a person does is written in the book; we are all closed in one network and every motion we make is recorded in the network. You affect the network, so you have to constantly make sure that the network is connected and not disconnected. Not knowing your duty doesn’t exclude you from punishment. If you haven’t tightened the connections in the network, it is as if you caused disconnection.
Forgiveness, remorse for the past, and receiving in the future are all included in a person’s soul searching, and thus he corrects his attitude toward the network; no one can perform this correction for him. Forgiveness between a person and his friend is turning to someone at a certain point, clarifying, and correcting the attitude toward him.
Forgiveness between a person and the place is a person’s attitude to the whole integral system; clarifying and correcting his general attitude to the system. Asking the Creator for forgiveness is asking everyone together for forgiveness. “I reside among my people.”

Shimon Peres Died

laitman_293Comment: Shimon Peres, a well-known public figure who did so much for Israel has passed away. He founded the Kibbutz where he worked as a shepherd and then as the Kibbutz secretary. Later he served as minister in many fields including absorption, defense, etc. Later he became president of Israel. Shimon Peres passed away at the age of 94.
Answer: Shimon Peres was one of the founding fathers of the State of Israel, a disciple of Ben Gurion, who followed him and gradually changed according to the times. He may be called a man of socialist ideas, dedicated and loyal to them to such a degree that he sometimes arrived at mistaken conclusions, but he stood on them. He founded the Israeli nuclear industry. He lost many times during his lifetime, but he often won as well. He turned out to be weak in negotiations and gave in on issues where he didn’t have to give in.
A true leader is a complex figure because we are not aware of the conditions under which a person operates, but it was evident that he wasn’t easy on himself. The death of Shimon Peres, who from the age of 18 to the age of 90 was continuously active in Israeli politics, is an end of an era.
His biography is amazing! Of course, there are those who respect him and those who don’t, but no politician or leader was indifferent to him. He undoubtedly left his mark, but it actually doesn’t exist anymore because he represented socialism, which has passed away back in the 1980’s. The leaders who followed him like Begin and Netanyahu represent capitalism, but since the beginning of the 21st century the era of capitalism is also dying out.
Question: So where is humanity headed then?
Answer: We are heading toward the natural evolution of nature that shows us a very simple way: we must all unite. This is the essence of true communism, where humanity has to reach the recognition that we are connected to each other. And here only thewisdom of Kabbalah can help us because it gives us the strength and understanding of what needs to be done in this state. Nature forces us to do so.
I don’t mean that we should return to the communism we knew in the past, which wasn’t true communism, but was characterized by slavery and terror. I am speaking about a society in which everyone will receive the basic necessities and all of the filling will arrive from the attainment of the upper level of life through the unity between people. This is another state, another dimension. This is what we have to explain to people.
Question: Do you believe that people will understand that?
Answer: There is no other choice. I believe that we will actually get help from overseas where they will begin to pressure us to such a degree that no high tech inventions or military innovations will help us. We will have to show the world spiritual high tech and what we can contribute to the whole world. Only then will they calm down.

Who Leads The Hand Of Man?

Laitman_509Torah, Deuteronomy 10:02: And I shall inscribe on the tablets the words that were upon the first tablets which you shattered and you shall place them into the ark.
What does it mean that Moses writes on the tablets? In fact, the Upper Light, i.e., the Creator does it, but a person’s hand executes it.
A person who is in complete agreement and complete adhesion with the Creator must perform such an action when he writes the Torah on his heart or gives this opportunity to the Creator. This can be interpreted in different ways.
However, even we assume that a person does it himself, the Creator leads his hand.

Extraterrestrial Civilizations On The Planet Earth, Part 3

Laitman_931-03Question: Why does humanity wish so much to find life beyond Earth? Does it hope that aliens will be much more developed than us?
Answer: Is it worth looking for them at all? If aliens are more primitive than the earthlings, then what do we need them for? If they are more advanced, than why haven’t they found us yet? We are looking in the wrong place! Here, we won’t discover anything. We need to discover the force that developed us within ourselves and continue our development.
What will it give us if we would find a plant or an animal somewhere in the lifeless universe? Even if we found highly developed beings in some other form, how would that help us? Would we bring them to our scientists to study?
The way in which we must move forward is to continue the force of development that already exists within a person and develop ourselves with its help. Let’s explore and find out where it will lead us. Kabbalah says that this is not the way we are developing today.
The force that exists in us today is called a soul, and Kabbalists advise us to reveal it as soon as possible. So, let’s get to know our soul, and according to its laws, we’ll understand the direction in which we should develop.
We study DNA, decode the programs recorded there, and through them, understand how the body should develop. So, let’s study the soul the same way, get to know its spiritual DNA, its internal program, and from this, we’ll understand the direction we should develop. Then, we will come to our future form faster.
All of the aliens and all of the future we dream about are within us. There is nowhere to run.
Question: Then, why is there all of this vast universe around us?
Answer: The universe exists because the special ratio between inanimate matter, plants, animals, and humans must be observed. All of this inanimate mass of the universe must be equal to one vegetative cell. Therefore, everything we see in the universe, all of this infinite space, is equal to one unit of the force of plants.
Since the plant already has a force of life of a new creation, a force of internal development, it is of much higher quality than the inanimate stones. Therefore, the force of the plants that evolved on our Earth spawned within itself one animate cell, an animate essence.
This entire animate force spawned within itself one unit of the human level. Therefore, all of the people must join together, as the wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us, to compress themselves, to connect, in order to give birth in a special form from all of us to one concept that will be our next degree. If we all connect so that we will gather in one whole as one man in one heart, then we will reach the next stage of our development.
It turns out that our development is in the shape of pyramid. There are countless tons of inanimate matter in the universe. Then, this matter concentrates inside the Earth where all of it turns into one plant. The plants develop, until they turn into one animal, and animals, once they develop, give birth to one human.
Now, a person needs to join all of this inside himself and reach unity. If we reach unity between us, inside it, we will reveal a form of one on a degree higher than ours.

The Roots Of Fear

Laitman_002
Question: What is the root of human fear (Pachad)?
Answer: Fear is the main egoistic property that comes from a desire for pleasure that is terrified of remaining empty; this is the basis of all fears.
Question: In our world, there are hundreds of kinds of fears. It appears in my egoism, which responds to any external influences. What is man afraid of, what does he fear?
Answer: A person is afraid of the defeat of his “self,” and of suffering.
Question: How does fear influence a person?
Answer: Fear influences the desire for pleasure and depresses him so much that it awakens a sensation of fear, anxiety, and thoughts like, “I will not be able to enjoy anything, but will just suffer all the time. I will only feel the emptiness, darkness.”
At the root of fear there is the lack of feeling the Creator, feeling the Light that would fill my desire, but for some reason still has not been fulfilled. My empty desire feels fear. This means that fear is a feeling that I lack the fulfillment I deserve.
Question: Is a Kabbalist who discovers the Creator not afraid of anything?
Answer: Of course! On the contrary, he is absolutely confident in all being completely filled.
Question: Is fear synonymous with a sensation of “awe” (Yirah)?
Answer: Awe is something different. It is a state in which I want to attract the characteristic of fear to myself, and summon it by myself in order to rise to the next level.
Question: How can one struggle with fear? Suppose that the Creator sends me all kinds of fears, what must I do? Take an antidepressant?
Answer: An antidepressant is suppression. When fear takes over a person, first and foremost, one needs to imagine that “There is none else beside Him” (Deuteronomy 4:35). There is an excellent article on this subject in the book Shamati ,#138, “About Fear that Sometimes Comes Upon a Person.” In the article, it is written that a person should imagine that there are no forces of Tuma’a (impurity) in our world and he must only demand that the Creator reveal this to him.
Question: Will this not lead him to inaction?
Answer: This is the action. We have no need for any other actions other than the action of discovering the Creator.

The Arab World: The Less Water, The More Violence

laitman_747_03In the News (Project Syndicate): “Nowhere is freshwater scarcer than in the Arab world. The region is home to most of the world’s poorest states or territories in terms of water resources, including Bahrain, Djibouti, Gaza, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. This shortage – exacerbated by exploding populations, depletion and degradation of natural ecosystems, and popular discontent – is casting a shadow over these countries’ future.
“There is no shortage of challenges facing the Arab world. Given that many Arab states are modern constructs invented by departing colonial powers, and therefore lack cohesive historical identities, their state structures often lack strong foundations. Add to that external and internal pressures – including from surging Islamism, civil wars, and mass migration from conflict zones – and the future of several Arab countries appears uncertain.
“What few seem to recognize is how water scarcity contributes to this cycle of violence. One key trigger of the Arab Spring uprisings – rising food prices – was directly connected to the region’s worsening water crisis. Water also fuels tensions between countries. Saudi Arabia and Jordan, for example, are engaged in a silent race to pump the al-Disi aquifer, which they share.
“Water can even be wielded as a weapon. In Syria, the Islamic State has seized control of the upstream basins of the two main rivers, the Tigris and the Euphrates. The fact that nearly half of all Arabs depend on freshwater inflows from non-Arab countries, including Turkey and the upstream states on the Nile River, may serve to exacerbate water insecurity further.
“Sky-high fertility rates are another source of stress. According to a United Nations report, average annual water availability in the Arab world could fall to 460 cubic meters per capita – less than half the water-poverty threshold of 1,000 cubic meters. In this scenario, water extraction will become even more unsustainable than it already is, with already-limited stores depleted faster than ever – a situation that could fuel further turmoil. …
“In short, the Arab world is increasingly trapped in a vicious cycle. Environmental, demographic, and economic pressures aggravate water scarcity, and the resulting unemployment and insecurity fuels social unrest, political turmoil, and extremism. Governments respond with increased subsidies on water and other resources, deepening the environmental challenges that exacerbate scarcity and lead to unrest. …
“But, in order to break the cycle of violence and insecurity, all countries will ultimately have to step up to improve water management and protect ecosystems. Otherwise, their water woes – along with internal unrest – will only worsen.”
My Comment: The overall degradation of the region can only be stopped by the spread of the good forces of the Surrounding Light (Ohr Makif) as a result of the Israeli’s efforts to unite above egoism. Then in the countries around Israel, a new level of thinking and a new approach to a solution to all problems will be revealed.

New Life #771 – Forgiveness Between A Person And His Friend

New Life #771 – Forgiveness Between A Person And His Friend
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Summary
Human nature is egoistic, its inclination is evil, so from the start he causes evil to others. The question is only whether he acknowledges this, does he feel that his nature is evil, and does he regret it? Even if a person recognizes that he is exploiting others and wants to correct that, the question can be asked, what motivates him? When a person exploits someone, he becomes disconnected from the system because being part of the system means that he is concerned about the welfare of the system.
The sin is not about identifying the evil that we can identify, and therefore we didn’t relate well with others. The main thing is to examine yourself and understand what new attitude you must strive for regarding everything outside of you. The result of this examination is a true correction in which one’s mouth and heart are equal. When a person identifies the evil, he abstains from it and develops a good relationship with others.
This is already “repentance.” After a process of internal correction, you need to provide others with a good example. If there is no proper response from the other side, sometimes you must close yourself off and wait. To contend with the trampling of your dignity, you must build a higher dignity for yourself. Dignify the system. Dignify building yourself as a person who is corrected.

Circumcision Of Uncorrected Desires

Laitman_631_3Torah, Deuteronomy 10:16: You shall circumcise the foreskin of your heart, therefore, and be no more stiffnecked.
“You shall circumcise the foreskin of your heart” means that you need to trim the edge of your heart because you are entering a state called the land of Israel when one needs to open his heart to complete correction.
The meaning of circumcision is that the desires that are impossible to correct are removed from the heart. The correct Kli (vessel) or soul consists of ten Sefirot. At first, we can correct only a certain part of it, and the rest is as if removed; in other words, it is not used for a certain time.
This action is performed by the Upper Light that cuts off, like a knife, the uncorrected part, protecting it so that we won’t touch it. Thus, I am confident that I never will make a mistake and won’t start using those desires for which I have no power of correction.
The Light performs all actions without exception: both fulfillment and circumcision. In this case, it acts like a knife.

The Stagnation Of The West

Laitman_419In the News (Wall Street Journal): “Across 25 of the world’s advanced economies, about two-thirds of the population—more than half a billion people—earn the same as or less than their peers did a decade ago.
“Between 540 million and 580 million people in 2014 had lower or stagnant incomes than similarly situated people in 2005, according to a new study from the McKinsey Global Institute, the research arm of the global consulting firm McKinsey & Co. The finding presents a break from the trend in advanced economies during the post-World War II era when, throughout twists and turns, most families ended up improving on the standard of living of their predecessors.
“‘Prior to the financial crisis, all but 2% of people in the Western world ended up better off than people like them 10 years ago,’ said Richard Dobbs, a McKinsey senior partner and one of the report’s authors. ‘But the world changes when you get a cohort of people who are no longer advancing.’
“The study highlights the extent of the fallout from the financial bubble and global crisis it left behind. Incomes a decade ago were boosted by that unsustainable bubble, and the ensuing financial crisis plunged the global economy into a recession from which it has yet to fully recover.
“The damage helps explain why many voters are rejecting the established political order, as seen in the U.K.’s vote to exit the European Union, in the embrace of nationalist political parties, or the hunger for candidates removed from the political establishment as seen in the Republican and Democratic presidential races in the U.S.
“McKinsey surveyed households in the U.K., France and the U.S. In these countries, 30% to 40% of people said their incomes hadn’t advanced, indicating that even if transfers and taxes have allowed some families to improve statistically, many still yearn for higher incomes. These households expressed sharply negative views about trade and immigration. …
“The report highlights that one consequence, if these current trends aren’t reversed, is that ‘today’s younger generation is at risk of ending up poorer than their parents.’ …
“With slow economic growth, and potential disruptions from the aging of the workforce and workplace automation, McKinsey cautioned these trends could continue in the decade ahead, and that most households in advanced economies could experience another a decade of stagnation.
My Comment: We have passed the point of growth, and for the egoistic society things will never be better again.
We should understand that our development is according to the plan of nature, theCreator, and the only thing we can do is to examine it (through the wisdom of Kabbalah) and to fulfill it by the path of Achishena, I shall hasten it, before it forces us to fulfill it by the path of Beito, in its time, through great afflictions such as wars, terror, disasters, diseases, etc.

New Life #770 – The Month Of Selichot (Forgiveness)

New Life #770 – The Month Of Selichot (Forgiveness)
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Summary
We have to know the structure of reality in order to understand the meaning ofSelichotWe are all connected in one system, but this system is shattered. We have to fix the network between us since it will not be corrected by itself and will only reveal more and more how torn it is.
The right forgiveness is an outcome of the recognition of evil in us, in our attitude to love and mutuality, which should be in the corrected system. We ask for forgiveness for not having set a good example for others. It isn’t just lip service but an examination of where we have neglected the correction of the connection between us. There is no point starting a new year, a new change, before conducting serious soul searching and examining whether we have tuned ourselves correctly.
The prayers for forgiveness begin with self-examination because by being uncorrected we are the cause of all the evil in the world. Before we rush to correct our relations with anyone we must first correct ourselves internally. Then our external attitude to others will also be corrected, of course. Before the correction, we need to acquire a “ruler” according to which we can measure the good and evil in the system.
The right system is based on a connection from heart to heart, as one man in one heart, according to the rule of love thy friend as thyself. The right forgiveness includes the correction of my evil attitude toward the whole world, the correction of the evil inclination into a good inclination called true repentance. Through love, a person raises himself to the Creator’s level.

How Can We Attain Spirituality Quickly?

laitman_528_02Question: Are there any Kabbalistic sources that can be learned concisely and quickly in order to attain spirituality?
Answer: Although you can teach and study the wisdom of Kabbalah quickly, if you want to attain spirituality it is up to you. Here I cannot guarantee anything because it all depends on your connection with the friends.
If you succeed in persuading yourself that it is essential to be connected to them, you are lucky. If you can convince yourself that you should believe what I teach and present before you, you can be sure that you have gained something.
But you will not attain anything without a teacher and without friends. There is no other way to fulfill the wisdom of Kabbalah correctly except for in the connection with the friends in the center of the group and in the center of the ten. Only then will you begin to feel the attribute of love and bestowal, which will reveal the Creator to you.

Do Not Disappoint The Creator And Creation

laitman_934Question: It is said in the Torah that the Creator demands that we fear Him. What does it mean to fear something I don’t feel? After all, there is nothing in this, other than a game.
Answer: We are not talking about an animal fear. I am not able to intimidate myself, and that is a wrong attitude toward the Creator, to the upper force, because He is absolute, perfect, fills everything, and is infinitely good.
The fact is, that I have to artificially create a system of relationships between my friends and me that will be called the upper world or the Creator. As a result, the system must pass the test of truth and be such that it coincides with the existing system, which was created by the Creator from the descent from the top down, and we create this system by rising from the bottom up.To the extent they match, the two systems are combined, and the upper system is placed in the lower, and is felt as one single entity.
The upper system is called the Upper Light that is included in us this way. And the lower system is a system of our corrected relationships that must conform to the Upper Light. That is, we must create such relationships between us, like in the Light, and despite the fact that our system consists of the lowest, coarse desires, we must make it similar to the Upper Light of the Creator. Then it will fill the lower system and both worlds will merge. This state is considered corrected.
Comment: It turns out that you walk in the dark from the bottom upward….
Answer: But you have “tablets” for this—instruction manuals. And most importantly, you have your egoism that stops and confuses you all the time. Thanks to it, you constantly turn to the Creator and receive some help from Him.
After all, on the one side (on the left) egoism pushes you away from the goal, on the other side, you need help from the right. This way, thanks to these two forces, when one is allegedly “against,” and another is “for” (although they both are “for”), you move forward. We just need to learn to use them correctly.
Question: Does it mean that the smallest degree of deviation from the correct angle takes us in a completely different direction from the meeting with the Creator?
Answer: No, the fact is that after reaching the first degree where we get included into each other, the minimal degree of deviation is corrected all the time and the correction takes place with higher accuracy.
Question: What is the fear in the movement from the bottom upward?
Answer: This is a fear not to guess the desire of the Creator and to do something that will disappoint people and Him. This is the state that all of us should have.
Question: So how can we disappoint people?
Answer: The fact that in this case they would feel themselves imperfect and would have the feeling of mutual shame that literally “burns” them. Therefore, we must try to make the relationships between us similar to the attitude of the Creator toward us.

Is It Possible To Attain Happiness?

laitman_277Question: Do you believe that a person can be happy in this world?
Answer: It is impossible. You can close your eyes; you can even get drunk or take drugs; you can limit yourself in certain frameworks and not think about anything else, but if a person really discovers himself, if he develops all the time and really wants to understand, to feel, to know, and to attain everything, it is impossible to be happy in our world.
Question: Does this mean that this world was given to us in order to direct us to true happiness?
Answer: This world is given to us as the starting point of our development. We cannot develop any other way in this world. This is the reason that everything that we do in our world is absolutely useless. This means that true life begins from the spiritual ascent, while our world remains as a point. Everything we have done throughout history is only the starting point.
Question: What about all the scientific and cultural achievements?
Answer: All our scientific and cultural achievements are the achievements of ouregoism. Nothing is left of all these great achievements and ideas. The whole human history is a history on the animate level.
When we begin to look at ourselves from the side, we realize that the root of all our actions is egoism. It is the cause of all our instincts; it drives us to write poems, novels, music, and other works of art. Therefore, there are no upper attributes, states, or achievements of any kind in any of this!
Our whole history, everything that we experience and all our values we have accumulated throughout our history are only one tiny black point compared to the rest of our development. But when we attain spirituality, we don’t feel sorry about all that because then we truly begin our interstellar journey.

How Can We Feel Another Person?

laitman_238_01Question: How can I want to feel another person? Inside, a person is full of pain, humiliation, fears; I am terrified by the thought that someone will feel me.
Answer: You are not told to feel the pain, humiliation, or fears of other people! Rather you should feel the point in the heart in a person, his yearning for the Creator! It is only through this that he is your friend. Everything else, his body or his ego, doesn’t affect you at all. You shouldn’t be ashamed of yourself and engage in self-flagellation. You are full of flaws just like everyone else in this world.
So we connect with each other with the points in the heart, through yearning for the Creator. Everything else is seemingly left below. We only elevate these points and connect them with each other.
In everything else we are egoists, like all the rest of the people on the planet because the Creator created us with an egoistic desire and we cannot be good. That is also what is written: “I created the evil inclination; I created the Torah as a spice for it, for the Light in it will return it to the good” (see Kiddushin 30b).
Before we begin to correct ourselves we are totally bad, completely negative, so much so that we cannot even imagine it—each one of us. So you can relax, for you truly are completely wicked. But now we need to be corrected by attracting the upper Light. We are not saying that we must correct the evil in ourselves; rather, the Upper Light gradually arrives, corrects, and balances the evil through its goodness.

Decision Point

laitman_236_02Torah, Deuteronomy 9:28 – 9:29: Lest [the people of] the land from which you brought us out will say, “Because of the Lord’s inability to bring them to the land about which He spoke to them, and because of His hatred toward them, He has brought them out to slay them in the desert.” But they are Your people and Your inheritance, which You brought out with Your great strength and with Your outstretched arm.
Question: What is this appeal to the Creator?
Answer: This is a state when a person has the ability to soften the Creator’s attitude toward him and thus to overcome some of the obstacles smoothly, but he doesn’t agree to this.
He wants to overcome them in their truest form so his own egoism won’t come back to him and start arguing that it is possible to cheat a little and it is not necessary to do everything meticulously to the highest level.
These things are found at every step. But a person knows what to do. After all, when he receives an opportunity to work this way he has no doubts. It’s just that for him there always appears a point of making the hardest decisions.

The Light Will Correct Everything

laitman_531_01Question: How can I seal the egoism within me?
Answer: There is no need at all to block anything. On the contrary, don’t even touch the ego at all. It will be corrected to the degree that we attract the Upper Light, attracting the good light that will balance the egoism so that we will correct ourselves.
We will have no relation to the egoism. It lives within us and we are its slaves, as we were with Pharaoh in Egypt. But we are working so that we will gradually attract the Upper Light onto ourselves, the fore that attracts and takes us out from the control of the ego, from our “Egypt” until we have gathered a sufficient degree of power in quantity and quality and we can begin to transcend it.
It is necessary to think only about the good and the connection between us and not about our bad characteristics. They were within us from the start and they should be kept there. The Light will pull them up and correct them.
