How Do You Find Your Destiny?

Laitman_083Question: How do you find your destiny?
Answer: This is truly a problem. Nature pushes and drives us to clarify our destiny, but we also need to part in this.
How do we find the meaning of life? A person must listen very subtly to himself, and most importantly, not be afraid of abandoning the comfort to which he is accustomed.
After all, we usually find a warm corner and remain there for a long time. But in order to find something, you must get up, go somewhere, learn something, be concerned about something, let go of something, and so on.
But nowadays, when the wisdom of Kabbalah is revealed, it raises a person to a level of self-awareness, self-realization, self-examination, and now it is simpler for us to burrow into ourselves to answer the questions that sprout up within us. Thus, we quickly reach an understanding of the meaning of life and its realization.

Hebrew – The Language Of The Wisdom Of Kabbalah

laitman_209Question: Do I need to know Hebrew to study Kabbalah?
Answer: Every science uses its specific language. Just as a musician cannot get along without the Italian language and a doctor without Latin, the Kabbalist cannot get along without Hebrew. Therefore, we must learn the Kabbalistic terms in Hebrew.
The wisdom of Kabbalah is a very ancient science. It originated 5,776 years ago, and it uses an ancient arsenal of words and expressions from Hebrew and Aramaic, two languages that are complementary to each other like mirror images.
In Kabbalah, there are few terms we must master—only a few dozen. They are repeated constantly and very rapidly become familiar and understood by a person who studies Kabbalah.

We All Are One Soul, Part 2

laitman_933
Nature as One Body
Development is determined by two factors: On the one hand, there are more and more individual details; on the other hand, they are interconnected, and their connection becomes more and more complex, interdependent.
The same thing happens within human society. The more that we evolved throughout history, the more connected we have become. Instead of one family, a number of families united into a single village. Then, a number of villages merged and transformed into a city. Several cities united into a single nation.
In our time, the nations are united and have become a global world. Regardless of our desires, borders between nations are becoming erased, open, and people move freely throughout the world. No one wants to sit on the ground; he feels a need to know the entire world. Today, there is no person who would not fly abroad.
In addition, the media provides us with information from all over the world. It would seem that I shouldn’t be concerned about what is happening on the other side of the world, in South America or Africa, but I feel my dependence on everything. This shows our progress.
An even greater advancement is felt in our inner connection, not just the physical connection of the world. We are beginning to discover that we depend on each other personally. Our thoughts wander all over the world. I myself don’t understand why such thoughts suddenly come to mind because I didn’t think like that before.
Today, I am seventy years old, and I see that 40 to 50 years ago I thought absolutely differently. Why did this happen; simply because of age? No, the fact is that all this time I was living in an environment that was changing and it changed me along with it.
That is, all of us depend on each other and are connected together like a single organism. Humanity is like a single person whose organs are all connected with each other. Not only people, but in general, all parts of nature are connected together. All of nature, the still, vegetative, and animate, depend on humans, and humans depend on them. All of this relates to one symbiosis called planet Earth.
Earth is dependent on the rest of the universe. Life on Earth depends on the conditions of the sun and the moon. If there are fiery eruptions on the surface of the sun, they bring disturbances to the electronic systems on the surface of the entire Earth. People who have heart or lung problems immediately feel this influence.
The moon affects the internal state of a person, something that is confirmed by doctors, psychologists, and psychiatrists. In other words, we are completely connected with nature, which is a single organism.

We All Are One Soul, Part 1

laitman_264_01
Life Is the Result of Connection
Question: You say that all of us are connected in a single network; all of us are like one big soul. Today this subject is of concern to many in the world; there is lots of information and many articles about studies on this subject on the Internet. People sense that all of us are parts of one big system. Are we truly parts of a single soul?
Answer: We all are one soul. A soul is a tremendous desire to live, to exist, inherent in all levels of nature. In inanimate nature all atoms and molecules want to exist, to maintain their connection. In order to destroy a compound, energy, heat, or pressure must be applied.
After all, every part of nature seeks to protect itself. This instinct of self-preservation is called the desire to receive, to enjoy, taking care of oneself. To the degree of their development, all kinds of substances connect together, increasing the quantity of components that are included in connection, and then the quality. This is how life evolves on Earth.
Gradually, from amoebas and primitive organisms, all of the complex organisms evolved that lived first in the water and after that emerged on dry land.
We see that all of life comes from the union of parts; it is specifically their connection that produces quantitative and qualitative development on a higher and higher level, until reaching the human. The physiological human body is composed of an immense quantity of components.
But in addition, it has the unique ability of perceiving the world intellectually and emotionally, which is what we call the human mind and heart.
Through the mind and the heart, a person goes beyond the limits of his body, wanting to attain what doesn’t belong to our three -dimensional measurement; he aspires to go out to tremendous distances, going into space, implementing a leap in time and space.
And all of this is thanks to the inner human spirit whose complexity is no longer determined by atoms and molecules but by sensations beyond matter. All physical and seemingly “spiritual” development happens thanks to a more complex organization, a greater connection and the appearance of new connections.
This development is similar to the evolution of computers. The first calculators were completely mechanical, with gears. Then they evolved, becoming electric and then electronic. But everything is derived from simple operations with zero and one. Just as in our life, there is plus or minus. A big plus is a lot of ones and a big minus is a lot of zeroes. But this is the extent of a unit of measure, for everything else is derived from connection, outside of which there is nothing.
All of the complexity and immortality of creation, all of the greatness of the human brain, is determined by the billions of cells in the human brain, each one of them being minus or plus, zero or one.
But when they connect together, they make it possible for us to register an infinite amount of information and compare it to itself. As a result of the comparison of emotional and mental information, a more and more developed human perception of the world appears.

Israel’s Exiles

laitman_747_01Question: Which exiles have we already gone through and which are yet to come?
Answer: There have been four exiles during which the Jews were under the control of world empires such as Babylon, Persia (Purim), Greece (sports, art, science, Chanukkah), and Rome. We are speaking about the use of the ego in all of its four aspects, with increasing force.
The Egyptian exile, although it is considered the main one, the root of all exiles, in itself is not an exile, since the people went to Egypt of their own free will. The first three exiles passed over the nation in a constant wave: in the beginning Babylon conquered Israel, the Emperor Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the Temple, and most Jews were deported.
Then Persia conquered Babylon, and the Jews found themselves under their control. Cyrus the Great gave the Jews permission to build a temple, and part of the people returned to Israel but remained under the control of the Persians.
Then the Greeks conquered the ancient world and the rule over the Jews passed to them, until the Maccabean revolt when the Jews acquired independence.
But as soon as the Jews became independent, the ceaseless, internal conflicts began within the people, up to the inexplicable, unjustified hatred between all. And nothing could placate them.
To put an end to this, representatives of the people turned to the Roman emperor to calm the people. But when the Romans began to restore order, then the mutual hatred was turned on them as well. The Romans saw that they were not able to calm the people and they decided to close the Temple, the state, and the entire area, and the Jews dispersed throughout the Empire.
This exile has not yet been fully completed. Most of the people still live in countries of the former Roman Empire, in Europe, and from there moved to Eastern Europe and America.
Only in the 21st century, with the end of the Ancient Roman Empire, in the form of modern Europe (the EU), we see the end of our fourth exile and the beginning of the era of the Messiah (from the word “Limshoch” – pulling), representing the time of correction for humanity, an exit from the egoistic nature.

Attaining The Meaning Of Life

Laitman_109Question: Why isn’t there a universally recognized answer to the question about the meaning of life?
Answer: A person should look for the answer to the question about the meaning of life, meaning in this life or in reaching something beyond it.
Question: Is there such a concept as the meaning of life? Is it the same for everyone or is it different fro each person?
Answer: If I don’t answer this question, my life has no meaning. What should I live for? This question is asked at the human level and not on the level of an animal.
It turns out that I don’t ask myself about my corporeal existence but about what is above it. What should I exist if I don’t find meaning in my corporeal life? It is better not to be born at all. If I was born, I have to find out why.
Could it be that nature, which has taken everything into account with such precision in all the parts of the system, did not take into account the meaning of my life too?
Taking the logic of nature into account and its perfect laws, such a deficiency could not be. This process has to end and to continue on the next level. This means that everything must have a meaning, but in the meantime we simply haven’t revealed it.

The Wisdom Of Kabbalah Is Appropriate For Any Age

Laitman_028_02Question: I am already retired; is it too late for me to study Kabbalah?
Answer: What else is there to do?! Just sit in front of the television and wait until life is finished, while during this time you could achieve so much more?
If it happens to be someone’s destiny to become acquainted with the system of the upper world at a mature age, it means that the management system is leading him to spiritual ascent, and during whatever is still allotted to him in this world, he needs to ascend and correct himself.
So begin to study immediately. And it is very good that you are mature; you don’t need to be concerned about distractions; you have a pension for a decent existence. So live your life to ascend to the upper world.

Men And Women: Let’s Consider Nature

Laitman_023Question: I am concerned about the interaction between the male and the female parts of my group. The men have no idea how the women in the group can help the men.
Can I try to work with the men and women in a workshop in order to discuss these matters with them?
Answer: The interaction between men and women, especially in workshops, will lead to distractions associated with sex. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend that except for neccesary technical work.
You can try and you will immediately discover the interference that will nullify all that is spiritual in the group.
This is our nature and we have to take it into account because our success is actually in becoming free of the feelings and the fillings to aspiring for the revelation of the upper network of mutual actions.

Ideological Struggle

Laitman_167If we look at the narrative of the Torah from a historical perspective, it reveals a very interesting picture. The camp of people spread out in the wilderness was in itself a large city with several million people. Artisans, blacksmiths, and goldsmiths worked there.
People really grew roots as the transition from one place to another took many years. The camp didn’t move from its place as long as the cloud didn’t move. Only then did the people move forward 10-20 kilometers and again stop indefinitely. So the Torah allegorically describes a society in motion: it established a goal and advanced toward it.
Incidentally, during communism, they wanted to create an illusory picture of a bright future; there it was clear that the people were moving toward it. But how was it possible to achieve it? So we see different forces in conflict. However, the struggle was not about power, but about ideology: through which means can you advance towards the goal more effectively?
Question: Wasn’t Korach fighting for power?
Answer: No, all this is talking about holy people related only to bestowal and love only. Otherwise it would not have been written about in the Torah.
All the characters referred to in the Torah give shape to a desire that yearns for only one thing: to be in a state of movement toward bestowal and love, full mutual connection. Therefore, Korach frankly argued that it is possible to leap beyond the following level and adhere to the Creator more quickly with minimal loss and investment.
Everything that happened during those forty years happened from a desire to do good, to increase love. But in the end, all efforts were directed against Moses, regardless of whether they wanted to help him or not. But this was not a power struggle to which we are accustomed to in our lives, and therefore is how we perceive the story.
The Torah just describes everything in physical language, but it is necessary to understand that the people moving through the Sinai means that they were discovering the Creator and were beginning to receive the Upper Light of correction, the Ohr Makif (Surrounding Light); they no longer referred to egoism because they were above it, like on a hovercraft. So their calculations were not at all egoistic.
What does it mean that “the ground swallowed them,” “they were burned,” and everything else? These were operations that were being carried out on the egoism that was suddenly discovered in them and needed correction. “Covered by the earth” is already its correction.
Therefore death, leprosy, and things like that were not various kinds of physical processes, but work on the ego. When new external conditions are discovered, we begin to work with them. It cannot be otherwise.

Inanimate Level – The Beginning Of Everything

Dr. Michael LaitmanBaal HaSulam, “The Introduction to The Book of Zohar,” item 51: Thus, as we have said, if one purifies the still part of his will to receive, he is rewarded with a Partzuf of Nefesh of Assiya, and ascends and clothes the Sefira of Malchut of Assiya
This means that he will certainly be granted the permanent purification of the still part, in a way that he will not turn back to folly.
Question: What is the inanimate level in us?
Answer: In each level we contain all five vessels of KHB ZON, and all five Lights ofNRNHY, therefore we need to actualize all forms of the work.
But in the world of Assiya, I work constantly only with the Light of Nefesh, here it is important for me, and all the vessels and the Lights that I work with are meant only to support the Light of Nefesh, so it will stabilize itself permanently in the Kli of Keter.
Question: And this still part remains with me until the end of correction (Gmar Tikkun)?
Answer: Of course, in spirituality nothing disappears.
Question: What is the role of the still?
Answer: The role of the level of still in spirituality is the same role as the nature of still in our world. Everything comes from it.
Question: Still, it means that something is not moving. What is its importance?
Answer: Try internally not to budge, despite of all the exterior influences, in spite of everything that happens to you.
Question: Is it connected to self-annulment?
Answer: Of course. By annulment toward the friends you build the inanimate spiritual level. It depends on your work in the scale of your current desires; in the next degree the still will become vegetative and then animate, etc. In general, the desires are categorized according to my ability to work with them. And if I can actualize some desire in the inanimate level, only in the simplist manner, then I activate it like that.
Later through the group I receive forces from the Upper Light, and the same desire becomes the level of vegetative. It allows me to work with it in a more qualitative form—now I cannot even grow and produce offspring.
Anyway, everything begins with the inanimate level, and finally reaches Ein Sof(Inifiinty) until the Light of Yechida.

There Is Only One Answer To Terrorism

Laitman_120Comment: The wave of terrorism is continuing in Israel; there are attacks almost every day, one after another. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the establishment of a unit that will fight the anti-Israeli propaganda on the Internet that will determine where the clips come from that provoke terrorism in the streets of Israel.
Answer: This is a war on the level that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all the politicians can work. Work like this requires a large financial investment, but the benefit from it is small; there will not be any fewer lives destroyed.
The only means that can help is the realization of the method of the wisdom of Kabbalah; it calls for us, the Jews, to cease causing adverse affects in the world.
We need to unite between us, and then nature will manifest a positive energy that will oblige all the rest of the peoples also consolidate with good connections—what that the world needs so much.
But as long as we don’t begin passing a positive energy through us to the world, they will continue to kill us.
Let’s apply this strategy into practice, and it will become a tactic. Do it!
Begin to invest at least some effort today and you will immediately see how everything will change.
There is no other way! The world has only a single movement forward towards the goal of creation, to connection between us into a single organism. It is within the history of humanity and is located inside the matter of evolution; we have nowhere to escape from this!
As long as we oppose unity and don’t want to transmit the good force through us, the whole world will hate us because this only under our control. The world accuses us of bringing nothing but trouble, and they are right!
We need to understand why they hate us, why humanity is right when it blames us for its problems, and how we can change ourselves and make the world better and safer.
There is no other solution in nature; so I have one answer for everything. We don’t need to invent anything. The multitudes of questions come from our egoism that is always disingenuous.
Question: So what do you do with the statement: “If someone is coming to kill you, rise up early to kill him” (Bamidbar Rabba 21:4)?
Answer: When a murderer is standing in front of you, you need to pre-empt him. It is up to you to do everything to avoid the possibility of the lack of union; the good force must pass into the world through the connection between us and then the terrorism will stop by itself.
You need to neutralize the attacker now, but not just to stay alive; rather, it is up to you to stop him because when he raises a hand against you, it doesn’t allow you to make the best and most correct action.

How Can We Discover The Map Of Life?

laitman_760_2Question: You say that we are all one soul, but how is that related to my life? Even if this is true, I don’t understand what I actually can do?
Answer: We perform many actions in our lives. I begin this life and end it, but do I know what I am living for? No. Do I know today what to do with my life tomorrow? Not really.
It is like entering a small door in a giant house and getting lost there, not knowing when I can get out of all of the rooms and whether I entered them by mistake or not. We don’t know how to determine our good fate by ourselves.
The wisdom of Kabbalah gives us the map of life, and you can use it like an atlas.
Suppose you go on a vacation to some foreign land. You look at the map of that country, the map of the city you are in, and it is clear to you where you are and how to maximize the pleasure of spending this vacation to miss nothing: to see the sites, taste their local dishes, etc. Even for this week, you don’t want to waste a thing.
We have entered a place called this world, and how we are going to spend the time here doesn’t seem to worry us.
The wisdom of Kabbalah gives you a map according to which you can see where you are and discover where everything that is good and wonderful is. Why should you roam the streets aimlessly exposed to dangerous and dirty places?!
You can choose the good way and attain the best conditions. There is always a choice to some extent. Everyone can choose what is suitable for him according to the root of his soul. This is exactly what the wisdom of Kabbalah enables us to do.
Up to now, we have developed in a very simple manner. Everyone acquired a certain profession in order to make money, to have a family, and to succeed. Today, we have outgrown this development. We don’t want simply to have a family or a profession. We want to discover something that is more internal. And that is why we need the wisdom of Kabbalah that will guide us correctly in the search for meaning in life.

Why Do I Get All of This?

laitman_555Question: Why do numerous troubles pour onto those who live virtuously, never hurt anybody, and make every effort to help the others? Is it a punishment for their prior lives?
Answer: People came up with many theories about punishments for their prior lives and future rewards. In fact, nobody knows why we get blows from destiny.
We all depend on each other. We all are in one network. All of us represent one common soul of Adam; we are one whole! The overall system we exist in is called “Adam.”
Each of the system’s parts is responsible for the others. Our body works similarly: if there is a wound on the foot, it hurts the whole body aches and can’t think of anything besides the wound. In this case, head and nerves depend on the sore foot. Our interdependence extends to this degree.
Our world is an integral system. That’s why it is necessary to improve the entire world, mend our inclusion into each other and the rest of souls. If you do, you begin sensing yourself in a perfect and absolutely comfortable state.
Question: What does the correction of our inclusion in other souls mean?
Answer: It signifies the state of “loving thy neighbor as thyself.” Before we completely correct ourselves, entirely and mutually, we will continue asking questions about the reasons for earthly afflictions without being able to find suitable answers.

Internal and External, Part 3

laitman_750_03Important Definitions: “Israel” and “The Nations of the World”
Question: What does “Israel” and “the nations of the world” mean?
Answer: Israel are those who are directed strictly to the Creator(Yashar-El). People that belong to Israel have a point in the heart that shines in them, that is, a point inside the ego that seeks an answer to: what the purpose of life is, why we live, what the goal of creation is? All these questions lead to Kabbalah.
The nations of the world are those in whom the point in the heart has not yet been revealed; this is why their actions are triggered by pure egoism.
Points in the heart opened in some people in ancient Babylon, at the time of Abraham, and the same is happening in our time. This aspiration of one’s heart defines Israel.
Further, the historical people of Israel emerged from the same group and departed ancient Babylon with Abraham. They came together based on a feeling that made them stand out from all the Babylonians: they had the same desire, the point in the heart. So they joined the Abraham, who led them out of Babylon.
The souls of those that once rallied around Abraham underwent numerous reincarnations and currently constitute contemporary Jewish people. Due to the endless afflictions and pain they went through, a corrupt egoistic desire concealed their points in the heart; however, the points are still there inside them, only hidden.
In Shamati #199, Baal HaSulam wrote: Every man of Israel has an internal point in the heart, which is considered simple faith. This is an inheritance from our fathers, who stood at Mount Sinai. However, it is covered by many Klipot (shells), which are all kinds of dresses of Lo Lishma (not for Her Name), and the shells should be removed. Then his basis will be called “faith alone,” without any support and outside help.
So, this is why the first ones who we appeal to are the Jews. Actually, we address the same pool of people. Contemporary Jews represent only two tribes of Israel; the other ten tribes are spread among humanity and are concealed from us.
However, it is not important: Anybody who feels aspiration towards the goal of creation is called “Israel” in accordance with the most accurate definition of this word based on unity of the group that originated in ancient Babylon.
These people do much more for the cause of correction than a regular Jew who has an Israeli passport and lives in Israel, but doesn’t feel any aspiration towards the goal of creation. The more one corresponds to the spiritual definition of “Israel,” the more good one can bring.

Where Will I Go After Death?

Laitman_712_03Question: Is there heaven or hell after death according toKabbalah? If so, do you have any intention of getting there after your physical, corporeal death?
Answer: Hell is a state when a spiritually elevated person falls into egoism. This is called hell. A person burns with shame because of his egoism. This is the fire of hell and punishment.
And when, on the contrary, one rises to the property of love and bestowal, one feels that one is higher than this world. One experiences the state of eternity, perfection, and infinity. This state is called paradise, heaven.
We sense these two states—heaven or hell—during our spiritual ascents or descents back into this world. Only Kabbalists are able to feel both states. They are not at all connected with the corporeal life or death.
Our bodies are just animals that are given to us only to serve as the basis of our physical existence. Based on this framework, our spiritual advancement is possible.
The wisdom of Kabbalah speaks solely of our spiritual development. If we do not advance spiritually during our lifetime, we die as any other animal and that’s it for us.
There is no target of getting somewhere after our bodily death. After death nothing changes. But it is possible to attain the upper world during our lifetimes.
The purpose of Kabbalah is to achieve the sensation of heaven during our current lifetime. And then, our animal existence isn’t an obstacle. In other words, the body can die, but we are already in the upper world. This is exactly what needs to be done: develop our soul.
Each of us is given an animate body in this material realm. At the same time, we have a point, the embryo of the soul. If we develop this embryo, we begin sensing spiritual life through it. Then, the death of our body doesn’t matter! We start sensing the next level of universe in the subsequent dimension.
At the same time, if we don’t develop the point in the heart, nothing will happen after our physical death. The point in the heart, the embryo of the soul, will be born again in a new animal body, thus giving us another chance to advance with the help of Kabbalah.

Material And Spiritual Desires

Laitman_506_4Question: When I am involved in spiritual work, why don’t I see what others see? Where is that point that I limit to myself?
Answer: That point is your desire. It is only yours, no one else’s. Around it we build feelings and perceptions: the mind and senses. Emotions are in the heart, the mind is in the head. And therefore each one sees the world differently.
Each one has his own collection of desires, even though in every person there are a total of 613, these desires are different in size for each one, and therefore in each one they constitute his own set.
Question: Are the desires for food, sex, and family the evil inclination?
Answer: None of these desires has any connection to the evil inclination. The evil inclination is something directed against “And you shall love your friend as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18), against connection and unity of people. There is no other evil in the world.
It doesn’t matter if I want to eat two lunches or have a big house; well, so what? But if at the same time I direct myself against connection with others, then these desires become harmful. Suppose that I want to build a villa for myself at someone else’s expense, then specifically “at the expense of others” I distance myself from the upper world.
To understand this, it is necessary to feel the system of management, and then it will be understood where you are behaving correctly and where not. It is specifically the yearning for higher attainment that necessarily brings a person to recognize and attainthe entire network of forces.

The Reason For The Myths Surrounding Kabbalah

laitman_249-03Question: Why are there so many myths about the wisdom of Kabbalah?
Answer: The problem is that the wisdom of Kabbalah speaks in four languages. A normal person doesn’t understand the simplest language through which it presents everything.
But when we begin to train with the help of this special method, a person begins to descend into the depths of the concepts within the wisdom of Kabbalah, and then he begins to discover four special approaches in this language and he begins to hear and to see the inner meaning in it.
And someone who doesn’t study, but just reads what is written, he merely sees stories, tales, and legends.
The Torah (Bible) is written, in general, in a simple language, and everyone understands it as it is written. But, in fact, within it lie secret meanings known only to Kabbalists; moreover, it is impossible to reveal this to others; everyone must see and feel this for themselves.
So for thousands of years a multitude of myths have appeared around the wisdom of Kabbalah. And the Kabbalists wrote in a confusing way, not only because they wanted to conceal the wisdom of Kabbalah, but also because it was impossible to express what they felt and discovered in the upper world more clearly. So it follows that in principle the wisdom of Kabbalah is to blame for there being so many myths surrounding it.
Question: Did the Kabbalists intentionally confuse people?
Answer: No, not at all. But since they wrote about a world which we know nothing about, people began to imagine the upper world in physical giuses: as if people were people, animals were animals, and all kinds of objects and the whole situation, to an ordinary person it seems as if it is happening in this world.
But in reality, it is all a completely different system; one simply needs to study it. Kabbalists wrote for those people who want to study Kabbalah and ascend to the upper world. They had no other choice! That is how everything was designed.
When a person opens a Kabbalistic book, he or she can read all the words in it, but doesn’t understand anything. If I am not familiar with the upper world and read some description about it, I simply don’t know what it is saying. They use words of our world there, but what the author means, I don’t know.

The Attribute Of Bestowal: The Force That Revives Everything

laitman_747_01The Torah, “Numbers,” 20:2 – 20:6: And there was no water for the congregation; and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron. And the people strove with Moses, and spoke, saying: “Would that we had perished when our brethren perished before the LORD!
And why have ye brought the assembly of the LORD into this wilderness, to die there, we and our cattle? And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? It is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.” And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tent of meeting, and fell upon their faces; and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.
Land symbolizes the nation and water; it is the attribute of Bina, the reviving force without which the land is dust and ashes.
Once again the people began to complain and to grumble because they didn’t have the attribute of bestowal and the source from which they could receive the force that would revive them.
The people demand water (bestowal), but where will the water come from if they don’t attain it by themselves. The spiritual awakening takes place only under the influence of the attribute of Bina.
This is the reason that the children of Israel remember Egypt because there they could at least work in order to receive for themselves. Here, on the other hand, they need to receive in the intention of in order to bestow, which means that they have nothing left. And it is a dry death.

Following The Spiritual Leaders

Laitman_115In the spiritual world death precedes the birth of the next level. This previous step is fulfilled and like as in a rocket, totally separates from the system.
There were times in history when the death of a leader led to the destruction of the whole nation, as was the case after the death of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, the author of The Book of Zohar that was concealed from humanity for many years.
The righteous one had fulfilled his mission, but did the following generations continue his work? That already depended on the general state of the world and on its willingness to advance.
The same thing happened after the death of Baal HaSulam, who died in 1954. He was survived by a small group of students headed by his son, who continued to study in seclusion. It was only about half a century later, a long period of time, that new students began to join them.
In principle, all this is a very complex system, which cannot be understood in advance.

Cherish The Friends, No Matter What

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: In the workshops, I try to carry out all the rules, to raise the friends in my eyes, but at some point very negative thoughts come about stupidity and worthlessness. How should I deal with such manifestations of egoism?
Answer: In spite of everything, try to cherish your great friends. In response to these attempts, the Light that Reforms will come. And when it shines, you will see that they really are great.
This requires inner work. I look at the friends: they came to the lesson at night, then they go to work, they have families and children, each has many problems, everyone is tired, exhausted, run down at the end of the week.
Therefore, I appreciate my friends very much. And here I see that I am far from their level of effort. Each of them puts forth enormous extraordinary effort. How can I, not respect them after all this?  It is only with them that I will be able to sail to the spiritual shores, to the new world.
It turns out that it is not difficult to perceive them as great friends.
Question: Over time it becomes increasingly harder to convince myself of this—until I reveal that I simply cannot.
Answer: Of course, one is unable to. I am a zero, a rag (smartoot), nothing. And from this manifests one thing—what King David felt when he stood naked before the Creatorand made a covenant with Him. If I descend to the bottom in my eyes, there I reveal my connection with the Creator. And then I can immediately turn to Him and receive an answer.
Question: Does it mean that the flow of the negative thoughts needs to erode so far that I will cry out for help?
Answer: We don’t aspire to this state purposely. On the contrary, I work on connection with the friends, wanting to reveal the unity with the Creator in them, and then I reveal the opposite. But I cannot aspire to that, I must strive only for perfection.
Question: If I feel like a rag, if negativity takes over, how does one move over to the correct aspiration?
Answer: With the support of the friends and without departing from the timetable (schedule) the group follows.
