“What Are Some Ugly Truths Of Life?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What are some ugly truths of life?
While we innately feel that we want to change the world and change other people in order to improve the world, the ugly truth is that the only one who needs to change is myself.
Our desire to change the world and to change others stems from our intuitive egoistic perception of reality, where we want to self-benefit at the expense of others.
By wanting to change people and things around me, I essentially demand, “Give me something different to what I now have!”
However, true change is when I demand nothing of others and of the world, but that I demand to give to others from myself.
This is ugly to our very human egoistic nature, which we cannot escape, and which wants to invert anything it can in the world so that it can reap maximal benefit with minimal effort.
Each one of us feels ourselves to be the sole exceptional creation in existence. Our egoistic nature gives us all a feeling of uniqueness, an exclusive experience where it feels as if I alone exist, and everyone and everything else is secondary in importance to me.
Accordingly, we feel that if anyone should change, it should be others, not me.
However, the only way for the world around us to change is if we each change ourselves.
It’s great if I want to change the world. I just need to change myself so that changes in me influence the world.
This kind of change is doable. I can change myself at every moment, and by doing so, the world will change.

Holidays—A Chain Of Spiritual Actions

laitman_293.1Question: Holidays symbolize a chain of spiritual actions in which a person corrects a certain layer of egoism and then starts everything from the beginning to correct the next layer?
Answer: And this happens on every degree and every day.
All this happens to us when we start revealing the upper world and working on ourselves toward bestowal and love, then we attain all these degrees that in our world are interpreted in such an earthy, mundane way as holidays.

Stand Guard

laitman_207Rabash, “Article 24”: You must always be on guard, both when you feel the state of the day, and when you feel the state of the night. You are obliged to awaken the hearts of your friends, and thanks to this you will be honored to awaken the Creator’s love towards us.
If, despite the fact that you feel day or night, good or bad, understanding or incomprehension, you always think not about yourself but about awakening the hearts of your friends, then you definitely move forward.
Despite any clouding, misunderstanding, or, conversely, seeming complete clarity and desire to find out what is in the spiritual world, the connection between friends always remains more important. It is in the connection between them that you will begin to feel the Creator.

The Creator Stopped Us Before The Abyss

laitman_231.01How would you like to see the next stage of human development? The Creator gave us great help, He stopped the whole world before the abyss, which we, in our egoism, almost brought to complete destruction.
At the last moment, the Creator stopped us with the help of the coronavirus, forced us to calm down, to relax, to sit at home, and to think about our lives so that we would never return to the old world built on egoism.
What would have to change in our world so that it would become better, kinder, more correct, and more just? What should we ask the Creator together? Indeed, today for the first time we see how the Creator is immediately engaged in all of humanity, around the entire globe.
We want to fix the connection between us, and it will already establish our whole life. Can I take care of everyone and think that my neighbor and the whole world have everything that I have? Am I ready to share with others, worry about them just like for my children? After all, I won’t take the last and deprive my child, I will provide for him first.
The law of love requires such an attitude toward everyone. Do we understand that tomorrow we must become other people, both in thought and in an action? Thus, our society will move forward.
We are not talking about forced distribution, socialization of banks and enterprises. We just want to ask the Creator to change human society so that it leads to a change in relations within the family, between countries, from the internal correction in each person spreading outward. Maybe the coronavirus will help us with this.

Gift From Nature

580.03Remark: We are always internally separated from each other, no one considers anyone, and so on. Now nature itself shows us this in the external manifestation, forcing us to stay at home.
My Comment: Nature, as if, is telling us: If you cannot be correctly connected with each other, then stay away from each other, step aside.
I think this is a great gift from nature. Imagine that if before we invested 80% of our efforts in suppressing nature, making it worse for people, for society, and for countries, constantly producing weapons, destroying natural resources, and so on, then now we already feel what positive consequences there are when people just stay at home.
Remark: I did not think about it, but it seems to me that almost everywhere military conflicts have stopped. I do not have exact data, but I think that is true.
My Comment: What is there to fight for? Imagine that you occupied another country, what would you do now? These are all just toys to warm human egoism a little.

“COVID-19 And Anti-Semitism: An Unseen Connection” (Times Of Israel)

The Times of Israel published my new article “COVID-19 and Anti-Semitism: An Unseen Connection
The Coronavirus Disease 2019, or COVID-19, like any crisis in history since the inception of the Jewish people, will ignite a wave of anti-Semitism. We can already see it budding on social media, traditional media outlets, in graffiti, and in aggression on the streets. People don’t know why they hate Jews, so they cling to every pretext to vent their innate odium toward this enigmatic nation that seems to them as though its people collaborate to control the world, while in truth, many Jews haven’t the slightest empathy toward their own people or their own nation-state.
There is no point reasoning with antisemites; their hatred is irrational. Whatever reason they provide, its opposite has already been used as a pretext for hating Jews just as bitterly. When two opposite reasons explain the same phenomenon, it means that neither is correct. When it comes to anti-Semitism, there is a three-stage process of revealing it: First there is a dormant, subconscious hatred, then there is a trigger in the form of some crisis, and finally the Jews are accused of causing it.
Jews don’t know why people hate them. They didn’t commit any of the contradictory accusations that antisemites throw at them. And because antisemites hate them for a different reason than the one they articulate, refuting it does not mitigate the loathing.
The real reason for Jew-hatred is rooted deep in the past, in ancient Babylon, the cradle of civilization. Back then, Abraham, from whom emerged Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, was deeply troubled by growing social tensions he had observed among his people, the Babylonians. After deep scrutiny, he had realized that they were becoming increasingly self-centered and called on them to rise above that trend and restore their union.
Not many people listened to Abraham. He was driven out of Babylon and wandered toward the land of Canaan. Along the way, he explained his findings and invited people to join his group. The only condition he had required was agreement with the principle of unity above all differences.
Abraham’s entourage grew and prospered. At the foot of Mt. Sinai, they pledged to be “as one man with one heart” and were officially declared a nation: “the nation of Israel.” At that event they were also tasked with sharing that unity with the rest of the world, as Abraham had intended to do in the first place. That was the meaning of Israel’s mission to be “a light unto nations.”
In the meantime, the people who remained in Babylon and did not follow Abraham wallowed in unbridled egoism and developed resentment toward those who followed that “other” idea—of unity above all differences. That ancient “score” is the root of the hatred we now call anti-Semitism.
Within any non-Jew who hates Jews, or a Jew who dislikes his or her own people, there is an unconscious struggle between those two approaches: The Babylonian “me first,” or the Jewish “we first.” The struggle that unfolds within them is the reason why Jews are so often accused of selfishness and partiality toward their own folk, since the world judges them by a much higher moral standard than it judges any other nation.
But even perfect Jewish morality and absolute selflessness will not dissolve Jew-hatred. The Jews became a nation only after they pledged wholeheartedly to be “as one man with one heart.” Upon their declaration of nationhood, the Jews were tasked with being “a light unto nations,” namely to share with the nations of the world the way to achieve unity. That task coincided with Abraham’s initial aspiration to share his idea of unity with all his fellow Babylonians.
Especially today, if the Jews carry out their task, it will end the resentment that the descendants of the Babylonians who did not follow Abraham feel toward his descendants. It would disband anti-Semitism.
Now, in the days of COVID-19, the world feels more than ever that we are all in one boat, that there is a hole in the boat and no one knows what’s causing it or how to cork it. They blame the Jews for it, as always, and make up countless conspiracy theories to justify it. But in truth, the Jews’ only fault is that they aren’t setting an example of unity above differences. This is all that the world needs in order to overcome the coronavirus or any other plight that’s lurking in the darkness of the future.
If the human race were united, it would be no problem to overcome any crisis. Mutual responsibility is the most required commodity these days, and no one will be able to pump out that resource until the Jews show the way by setting an example.
Therefore, the only thing that Jews must do today is unite among themselves in order to set an example of unity to the rest of the world. And when the world unites, the troubles will be all gone.

The Essence And The Root Of Unity, Part 7

laitman_936Unite in Order to Rise to the Level of Man
It is said that unification creates life on a new level. This refers to unification above our egoism when we do not destroy it, but accept it as the left line against the right one.
The fact is that this is not an instinctive unification that exists within a certain framework in animals. It involves growth on a completely different level—the level of Adam (Man), from the word “domeh” (similar to the Creator).
In order to accomplish this, we cannot use any earthly sciences or techniques. Here we must be guided by a very special science, by a special method, called the science of Kabbalah, when with the help of special forces revealed by us at a higher level of nature, we are looking for the means that will help us to unite and create the entity called a soul or Adam.
The feeling of people who have succeeded in uniting in this way and have balanced their natural egoistic power with the altruistic power in nature is called life, the upper force, the Creator.
This is the next, fourth level of our development, which exists above inanimate, vegetative, and animate nature; this is the level of Man.

“Is “Kabbalah Mysticism” Just A Method Which States That The Human Mind Uses A Constant And Repetitious Pattern, When It Thinks About Any Subject?” (Quora)

Kabbalah is not mysticism. It is a science that involves the attainment of the perception and sensation of the causal forces in our lives, while we’re alive in this world.
Regarding what Kabbalah states about the human mind, it relates to the human mind as a program existing below desire, and that the mind belongs to the subconscious.
Kabbalah has no engagement in the modus operandi of the brain as a calculator, nor in muscle memory, nor in any memory mechanisms. Its sole engagement is with the soul.
The desire, which precedes the mind, is the soul. It has no place in our corporeal body nor in our mind.
The desire was created by the Creator, which is a force of nature governing our reality. The desire is egoistic by nature, i.e., aimed solely at self-benefit, and with the help of the method of Kabbalah, we can invert the desire into its altruistic opposite, where it matches the same form as the Creator, a quality of love and giving.
By changing the intention upon the desire from self-benefit to benefiting others and everything and everyone outside of oneself, we then start feeling the causal forces in our lives, which Kabbalah calls “the upper world” or “spiritual world,” and we then start understanding why and how everything functions the way that it does.
Everything else related to matter, including the mind, is absent from Kabbalah study, and it is of no interest to Kabbalists. We are only interested in the pure desire, which is independent of any form of matter, and we explore and master it as such.

How Not to Go Astray?

laitman_571.04Question: Is it possible to go astray in the study of Kabbalah and how do we avoid it?
Answer: You can go astray if you start to tear yourself away from the teacher, if you begin to believe that you know the path better than him. It is impossible to know better than him because he has passed all this already.
Nothing depends on the mind. By the way, in Kabbalah, there were cases when a student turned out to be more subtle and with a sharper mind than the teacher. However, the fact is that the teacher has experience, and this is the most important thing.
In Kabbalah, the most preferred one is the one who has more experience.

The Attainment Of Unity Is The Revelation Of The Creator

laitman_548.02Question: Is the spiritual state predetermined and we simply need to find it?
Answer: The spiritual state that we descended from really exists. It is a state of unity that filled us not too long ago and is in the general soul of Adam. (Red in the drawing)
The attainment of this unity is the revelation of the Creator.
We attain unity when we are actually distant and totally opposite from each other. The distances between us will continue to grow all the time. We will look for the center of the ten and its circles will seemingly begin to expand. This means that the differences between us will continue to grow more and more, and we need to try to find a common attribute between us, unity.
This does not mean that you have to be like me and another has to be like someone else and so on, no. This means finding a state, like in the game when you are looking, looking and want to catch some goal, but they are all scattered. Here it is necessary to make you feel: “How can I combine these goals?”
And when you catch this point, you will begin to feel that you have revealed the Creator. The unity of all the opposites that complement each other is the Creator. It is when they complement each other.

Synopsis Of Correction

Dr. Michael Laitman

From My Facebook Page Michael Laitman 4/30/20
Now that we’re no longer sheltering in place, the focus shifts from health to provision. Many businesses will not survive the coronavirus crisis since there will be no demand for them. Humanity is changing; many things we regarded as staples, we will now regard as superfluous luxuries.
Yet, those business owners need an income or they will not survive and social mayhem will ensue. The state has no obligation to fund businesses that have no demand, but it does have to provide people with basic means of sustenance. Therefore, providing some basic income for every person is a must.
Yet, this income is not to be given as freebies. COVID-19 has shown that we are all interdependent. Yet, we have no idea how to function in a society where everyone’s life is dependent on everyone else. People who have lost their previous careers to the virus will therefore learn about living in an interdependent society in order to become instructors of living in such a society. They will be trailblazers of a new social paradigm of mutual responsibility and solidarity. They will build a basis for a society that all of humanity will later join, since a few pandemics from today, all of us will be in the shoes of those who have lost their jobs today. Few will provide for everyone, and everyone will engage in connection. This is the synopsis of correction.

Old Age Is A Relative Concept

laitman_756.2Question: What is old age from the physical point of view and from the spiritual point of view? Do you feel like an old person?
Answer: Old age means that a person is already filled with some kind of knowledge, whether it is correct or not, and he keeps this knowledge to himself. Just like a small child will not release his grip on a toy, will not give it to anyone, the old man also holds on to his knowledge because he is completely in it.
The knowledge and habits formed and formatted him, and he can no longer act differently. Therefore, such a person is harmful to society, and nature destroys him through viruses.
Question: Do you feel like such a person?
Answer: I hope not because I am constantly subject to changes, ready for them, and I myself try to promote them and guide them through young people. I feel young.
But if I have to change the shell, I will. Cycles of life – nothing can be done, they are necessary.
Kabbalists relate to this very simply. My teacher said: “Just like in the evening you take off your shirt and throw it in the wash, so at the end of this life you take off your body and in the next life you will have to wear another one.” So nothing terrible happens.
Remark: You have given an interesting definition of old age. It turns out that it is not about age at all. Even a young person, if he is filled with knowledge and does not want to change, nature, as it were, replaces that person. This is what constantly happens in all systems and technologies.
My Comment: If the system is ready for an upgrade, then there is no old age. On the contrary, it is moving toward a better, more advanced, progressive replacement of itself.
Question: So nature is always in the process of improvement and we should assimilate to this process?
Answer: If we walk in unison with nature, we do not need anything to pull us forward: no viruses, no nudges. We would feel absolutely comfortable.

Amalek Accompanies Us All The Way

Laitman_509The force of Amalek is most evident in a sudden change of state—the end of the holiday, the Sabbath—such states that lifted us up by the upper light, and not by our own efforts.
We felt at a height, thanks to the forces that the upper light gave us. And when the Light disappears, Amalek appears. But it can also appear at any other time.
“Amalek” is an abbreviated form of “for the sake of receiving” (Al Menat LeKabel), meaning that this intention is ostensibly for its own sake. Although in fact, it does not act for our good, but in the interests of our egoism. An increase in egoism in a person, a sharp jump, are awakenings of Amalek. Therefore, we must constantly make sure that Amalek does not awaken in us.
Now that the Passover holiday is over, you may feel tiredness and have various problems, as if for objective reasons. But these are not real reasons, it is always Amalek; the desire to receive is clothed in all sorts of reasons, supposedly natural and explicable. Amalek builds nature and regulates our lives.
We must not relax our attention, we must monitor our states and watch for Amalek who awakens every moment. He will inevitably awaken because we would otherwise not be able to achieve great corrections. Amalek is constantly awakening, and we need to correct our attitude toward it, that is, to rise above it.
Amalek is help against us. The more it grows, the more we rise above it, higher and higher. In this way he will lead us to a perfect, spiritual height. This is his job, as help made against us.
Amalek gives us the opportunity to work by defeating it with the help of the group and the Creator and rising above it. Amalek accompanies us along the entire spiritual path, at every step, manifesting itself sometimes more, sometimes less, and putting on different forms. But it always pushes us into an egoistic intention.
Therefore, now, after leaving the Passover holiday and continuing on your way, you need to make sure that you do not stray from the path, and always keep the right direction for the purpose of life.

A Sure Way To Please The Creator

552.02Try to enjoy the attempts to come closer to the Creator, try this or that. The Creator looks at us as babies, and like us, He is touched by everything the baby does. It doesn’t matter that the baby fell, broke something or got dirty; this is how the baby develops.
The Creator does not demand the right actions from us, only those that bring us closer to Him through our friends in a simple and naive way. That is all. This is how we bring Him the greatest pleasure.
If we do so while hoping to bring joy to the Creator, we ourselves will rejoice. And if we feel joy from our actions, we can be sure that the Creator is also rejoicing. Later on, once we begin to feel Him, we will see that the Creator feels all that we experience.

Faith And Knowledge

232.09Question: In Kabbalah, what is faith and what is knowledge?
Answer: Faith in Kabbalah is the quality of bestowal, the ability to rise above my egoism, when, contrary to the ego, which demands of me: “Receive, take!”, I can rise above this desire to receive, take, and grab, i.e., not to work with my egoistic desires to fill myself with any kind of pleasure.
In other words, I cut back on my desires. The desires remain, but I restrict them, I am above them. We call such an action “faith above reason”. Reason is called my egoistic desires, because in them I receive and feel myself, my greatness, confidence, and tastes.
Question: Are these my natural desires, feelings, and emotions?
Answer: Yes. They are all called tastes or knowledge. These are our basic desires: food, sex, family, money, power, and knowledge. Moreover, knowledge is the greatest egoistic desire. After them comes faith, when I rise above all these desires and I work with them not to fill them, but to rise above them.
Question: Why did the sages call it faith?
Answer: Because this is the quality of bestowal—the property of Bina, compared to the property of receiving, Malchut.
Question: Is this a quality that I do not feel in my natural desires and so I must believe in it?
Answer: No. This is a quality that is acquired gradually under the influence of the upper force—an upper light. It has nothing to do with faith in our world when I worship someone or something with my eyes closed and accept on faith, everything they tell me. Here (in faith above knowledge) I set for myself what I want to believe in and what I want to value in comparison with what my egoism values. That is, this faith raises me above my egoism. According to what level of egoism I can rise above, I am in faith.

“What Is Kabbalah From A Perspective Of A Person Practicing It?” (Quora)

The wisdom of Kabbalah was made in order to guide us from our lives in this world to the attainment of the upper, spiritual world, and explains the absolute and fixed laws acting in both realities.
Using the wisdom of Kabbalah according to its intended purpose—bringing us attainment of the spiritual world—we gradually rise in our consciousness, perception and sensation of reality, eventually reaching, as Baal HaSulam described, the “exalted goal” of nothing less than the revelation of the Creator during our lifetime.
Who or what is the Creator?
The Creator is nature’s loftiest integral force, which includes the entirety of creation, everything that exists on its still, animate, vegetative and human levels.
When we understand how the Creator acts toward us, we can then understand the genuine causes of everything unfolding in our lives, and how to optimally respond to every situation in life.
The more we put the wisdom of Kabbalah to practice in our lives, the more we see exactly why and how we participate in creation, in nature.
In our era, more and more people feel the need for what the wisdom of Kabbalah provides, because as Kabbalists throughout history explained, specifically our era is the one when humanity would awaken en masse with questions about life’s meaning and purpose.
Our evolution is driving us all toward the revelation of the Creator. It is a process of accumulating suffering and deficiency. The wisdom of Kabbalah enters this process as a means to sweeten it, so that we don’t have to develop painfully, but increase our awareness of what is happening, and by doing so, experience the process much more enjoyably.

“What Are Some Photos Which Deserve Millions Of Likes?” (Quora)

We would be wise to promote photos and other media that show examples of love, unity, mutual consideration, support and encouragement above all differences, in order to positively influence humanity with such ideals.
The more we become influenced to want to love and positively connect to each other, coming closer to a sensation that we are all a single family, the more we would experienced improved social health, more happiness and confidence, less crime, anxiety, stress, depression, and many other negative phenomena in our lives.
This photo was taken at the 2008 World Kabbalah Convention in Tel Aviv, Israel. Each year, thousands of people gather at this convention from dozens of countries in order to unite above all differences, and by doing so, aim to become as a positive mini-model of humanity.
The method of connection (Kabbalah) starts from recognizing that we are egoistic by nature—we each by default consider self-benefit over benefiting others—and that this egoistic quality is the cause of all our problems.
Therefore, approaching love and unity is done not naively, but as a game: that we set a goal to positively connect above the innate division and differences we feel toward each other—not erasing those divisive sensations, but being aware of them and their source—and then acting out a social atmosphere where we each aim to mutually support, encourage and inspire each other to connect, and feel each other—ultimately, all of humanity—no less than we feel our own families and ourselves.
Playing such a game brings us closer to the fundamental laws of nature: laws of love, giving and connection. We thus awaken a positive influence from nature that helps us feel each other more closely, accelerating the pace of our development to feeling people who were as strangers, to feeling everyone as a single family.

What Do We Gain From The Wisdom Of Kabbalah?

laitman_214Question: As an average person, I would like to understand: what do I gain by studying the wisdom of Kabbalah?
Answer: Living in this mortal world, you will exist for a certain number of years and then abandon it, leaving practically nothing but some garbage, just like each and every one of us in this earthly life. Kabbalah teaches that in this life, in this world, in our time, you can attain the spiritual world, as if you are already above our world, absolutely not leaving it, not dying.
You simply neutralize your egoism that depicts this world to you and start seeing the world of forces and properties called “the spiritual world.” When you reveal it, you can exist in it even today, control our corporeal world from there, and live in the two worlds simultaneously.
In this case, the death of your body will not be something tragic, unexpected, or special for you because while living in this world, you are in contact with your eternal part, with the soul. And then you will rise in your understanding, in the revelation of the soul higher and higher. Therefore, it is desirable to at least a little, in some way, adhere to your eternal part.

Hidden Development Of The Soul

Laitman_632.3After the point in the heart has been opened in a person, and he does not leave it even if it is black and there is no light in it, no filling, one realizes that it speaks about something higher than this world. One believes that it is better to be in this state of uncertainty and depression than in the animalistic state of our world.
And he begins to pay attention to his spiritual development. The black point gradually develops all kinds of movements in him in one direction or another. That is, a person rushes toward spirituality, then somehow falls behind, trying to approach this either from a scientific, mystical, or emotional point of view.
In general, he does everything that the great Kabbalists Baal HaSulam and Rabash advise: he reads a lot, he studies, he engages. But still, he is moving forward very slowly, almost without changes.
This is a process of internal accumulation of information, sensations, which is still unclear to us. After all, the way the sperm enters the uterus and begins to develop in it is also completely hidden from us and only after a while it makes itself felt. The same happens to us.
The only problem is that a person’s spiritual development can take many years. Ultimately, insight, awareness, and sensation is also not his spiritual birth but only a certain stage when he feels being in the upper world but still does not understand what is happening to him.

A Kabbalist’s Attitude To The Coronavirus

laitman_961.2Question: You have relatives who live abroad. Do you discuss the coronavirus with them? You must be worried about them.
Answer: My son, his wife, and three children have been living in Canada for more than 30 years. Of course, I worry about them.
Question: As a Kabbalist, do you give them any advice?
Answer: As a Kabbalist, I do not give any advice to anyone. All the advice of a Kabbalist is in the form of suggestions: you can either do it or not.
Whatever I say, I say for everyone. My son listens to our lessons, participates in all our events, distributes books—he has a publishing company. He knows what needs to be done. Why would I tell him anything?
Question: What would you advise a person who has COVID-19?
Answer: As a human being, I cannot even say. As far as I know, this virus cannot withstand high temperatures.
As a Kabbalist, I advise you to think and act so that all the people on Earth will become closer to each other because this virus that is separating us shows exactly where we are sick: in the connection between us. And so it divides us.
Question: What measures do you personally take to protect yourself from the coronavirus? For example: quarantine, vitamins, exercise, washing hands frequently, and so on.
Answer: I wash my hands, even with a special disinfectant. I do not come in contact with other people if not necessary, as prescribed by the Ministry of Health. Everything that needs to be done, I do as an ordinary citizen.
Whether I believe it or not, whether I feel bad or good about it, does not matter. A Kabbalist always does what the government or experts tell the people to do according to the rule “Be with your nation.”
Question: Let’s imagine that you were in isolation due to the quarantine.and some mysterious computer virus hits the Internet, and you, like everyone else, were left unable to communicate with anyone over the Internet. You were left by yourself for 14 days. What would you do? What would you think about?
Answer: As long as I have books, I do not care if it is two weeks or 20 years. However, then I would not be able to convey to people the method of correcting themselves and the world, that is, the method of getting rid of all viruses in order to achieve a good, higher state of humanity. That would be a problem. But with regard to myself, I am self-sufficient.
Question: If there were no books, what would you do?
Answer: I have this all in my head. I am in a state of connection with other people, and it does not depend on connection through Internet networks. I feel humanity, I feel souls, I feel other people. I am connected with my teacher and with other Kabbalists of past centuries. I do not have any problems here. No viruses limit me.
It would only be a pity that in the absence of conventional means of information, I would not be able to convey to all people through the customary methods of communication what needs to be done to get rid of all viruses and to reach correction.

When Will The Prophet Elijah Come?

laitman_275We are now quarantined in our homes, where should we go after exiting this Egypt? First, we need to understand exactly why we are doing this and where we are going. The way out of Egypt is the way out of egoism into love between us. We are in Egypt under the rule of Pharaoh, our common egoism, which keeps us all in slavery and sets us up against each other. We want to come out of this unfounded hatred and turn face to face to one another with open hearts.
This should be revealed as mutual love, which is called the exodus from Egypt to the land of Israel, to the desire directed straight to the Creator, to the higher power of love.
Passover is a holiday of liberation from the angel of death, from our egoism. We imagine liberation as going back to the former pre-coronavirus life so that we can finally leave the house, go to a restaurant, and take a walk along the seashore or in the park. This is how we see freedom and free people.
The virus is showing us how we are not free and that we are immersed in our egoism. The coronavirus says: “Do not leave home! If you are locked within your egoism, you will be locked in your material life in the same way.” The virus shows us the true picture, our slavish dependence on the desire to fill ourselves, on Pharaoh. We meekly obey all the demands of our egoism and do not even realize it. Egoism dominates our thoughts and desires; this is called slavery.
“We were slaves in Egypt”—slaves of our selfishness, our desire to fill ourselves without thinking of others. But we are in the same integral system with all the people of this world, with all the inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels of nature, and people. And if my actions concern only my own personal desires, this means I work for Pharaoh. And to think about everyone else means to work correctly with respect to nature, the Creator. And then nothing, no viruses, can harm us.
During the Passover meal, it is a tradition to set a glass of wine for the guest of honor, the prophet Elijah. There was a joke this Passover that this time we did not invite the prophet Elijah so as not to infect him with the virus because he is in the at-risk group due to his age. So should we expect the prophet Elijah or not? Elijah comes to announce that the Messiah is coming. The Mashiach (Messiah in Hebrew) is the force that draws us out of our egoism, that is, from all misfortunes, and brings us to the state of universal bestowal and love, which is the Creator, and to the desire where we are all connected with one another and with the higher force of nature. It is a message that the prophet Elijah brings to us.
That is, we are not waiting for a person, but a special force that will lead us to love. Love means that I treat others as myself and even better. We have been waiting for the prophet Elijah for so many years, and he still has not come. But we have never waited for the true Elijah. Did we ever want to love someone? We expected that Elijah would bring us money, a new car, a new house, a private plane; everyone had their own interpretation. We were waiting for the wrong Elijah!
Elijah is the highest force that will bring us to such a strong unification, right up to love, that we will feel not only as one nation, but as one body and one desire and will feel the Creator within us, as it is said: “Israel, the Torah, and the Creator are one.”
The Creator is the power of bestowal and love, not some kind of material image. This power of love must dwell within us, between us. This is what we call the revelation of the prophet Elijah, liberation, exit from Egypt, and the true end of correction. Then we will feel the whole nation as one big family. To do this, you do not need to leave your house. The force of Elijah, the power of unity, acts above of all walls and borders. We will suddenly feel this whole world as transparent, without any partitions between rooms, houses, and parts of the universe. Everything will be felt as one whole where everyone is in connection with others and each person includes everyone within oneself. After all, every person is a small world. This is how we will feel the whole reality and within it the Creator.
Therefore, in this Passover, our main effort is to concentrate on the power of love from the prophet Elijah so that it would clothe and connect us with the whole world in one mutual embrace, which will lead us to the real exodus from Egypt.

Stop Harming Nature!

laitman_546.04Torah, Exodus 15:26: … all the sicknesses that I have visited upon Egypt I will not visit upon you, for I, the Lord, heal you.
Sanhedrin 101a: Our sages ask, “If I do not place the illness, what is the need for a healer?”
Rabash, Article 133, “It Is All Corrections”: We should interpret that since I am the healer, why should I place on you an illness if I must heal the illness? What do I gain by placing an illness? It must be as a punishment, and if I must heal the illness, what kind of punishment is it? It is as though I work for nothing.
For this reason, I will not place illness upon you, and what you think is illness, you are wrong about it. Rather, all the states you feel, if you attribute them to Me, are all corrections by which you will approach Me in Dvekut [adhesion].
Everything that happens in the world, even this virus is necessary for us in order to get to know this system. But we cannot work in it efficiently if we do not see its opposite and common actions.
Therefore, what seems to us to be diseases, all kinds of injuries, malfunctioning states, are only necessary in order to teach us to correctly understand the Creator. After all, everything should be built based on the knowledge of good and evil, plus and minus, or we will not understand what is happening to us and to the whole common system.
Today we are at the beginning of a very strong influence from above, the manifestation of our imbalance. There is huge nature and humanity as its highest degree. However, humanity with its unreasonable behavior takes this system out of balance and what is called coronavirus or something especially harmful appears, and we do not know how to deal with it.
In the modern world, we have never been so defeated from our pedestal of perfection, knowledge, strength, power, and influence, when in our arrogance, we considered ourselves the supreme force of nature. What can we do today? Hide in our corners like scared rabbits? What is happening to us?
Do not come close, do not sit together, meet at a distance of two meters, wash your hands thoroughly, do not blow your nose, and so on.
Can you see what nature is showing us? That you are insects! Try to throw off this pride, this arrogance, see what system you are in and what needs to be done to bring it back to normal. Stop breaking it! Why do you always hog the covers? What are you trying to achieve by that?
Nothing will happen to nature itself, but you will begin to feel that you are in a terrible, damaged system. You spoil it. In principle, nature recovers very quickly. But you will reach a state where it will spew you out.
Look what happened around Chernobyl after people delivered a terrible blow to nature there! And today, everything blooms there, animals appear that have not been around for hundreds of years. Why? Because the most harmful animal, man, disappeared and everything blossoms and smells. Therefore, we must stop harming nature.
