Haaretz: “Why Jewish Political Activism Leads to Anti-Semitism”

In my regular column in Haaretz, my new article: “Why Jewish Political Activism Leads to Anti-Semitism
For centuries, we have been told that our unity will save both us and humanity. We won’t listen and the world hates us for it.
In the aftermath of the US elections, the voices of many prominent Jews are heard aloud and almost always with the same refrain: “Trump is a bigot, a racist, and is unfit to be our President.” Comedian Sarah Silverman called for a military coup to overthrow President Trump. Israeli singer Noah, called the President Hitler. Other Jews have called on Americans “to mobilize in solidarity against Trump.” Likewise, Jewish Voice for Peace launched a campaign offering “Tools to Resist Trump’s Islamophobia.” As Tablet magazine put it, “From the Orthodox Union to the Reform Movement, and ‘Commentary’ to J Street, American Jews speak out in defense of refugees and Muslims,” and against President Trump.
At face value, it is perfectly legitimate and democratic to protest what you think is wrong. It is a right enshrined in the First Amendment. But things are different when it comes to Jews. We want to fit in; we want to belong, but no one treats us like ordinary people.
“If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die?” asks Shylock the Jew in Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice. Today, we are all like Shylock—ever trying to prove our sameness, ever encountering disbelief. Even if we are met with favorable declarations, such as those recently made by British Premier Theresa May, when it comes to actions, such as at the UN Security Council, the UK votes against us.
As in the US, Jews in Europe have been voting for liberal democratic parties for decades. Yet, precisely these parties have become hotbeds for Europe’s most sinister anti-Semitism. European Jewry has woken up, but it is too late. They can either leave Europe or stay and expect matters to grow much worse and much more physically dangerous.
The US is traversing the exact same route. Academia, which is dominated by a leftist oppressive mindset, has used the slick tool of political correctness to perform ideological cleansing of any idea that is not ultra-liberal. The media, much like academia, has been performing character assassination against Trump since the day he announced his intention to run for President. Together, the media and academia present a false image of a President who does not have the support of the American people. This orchestrated smear campaign against a legally and honestly elected president has deepened the divide within American society to a level that looks too much like riots, and too little like legitimate protests.
It is one thing for Jews to choose sides. It is another thing altogether for Jews to vigorously condemn the other side by using vulgarity, profanity, and baseless delegitimization, as in the heated debate currently unfolding in the US. Just as it happened after Sarah Silverman’s tweet, when we Jews incite for separation, we invoke anti-Semitism.
What’s Wrong with Jewish Activism?
The answer to the question in the subtitle is that there is nothing wrong with Jewish activism, as long as it promotes unity rather than division. The Jewish peoplehood was forged through unity when millions of individuals of different descents committed themselves to one another by pledging to be “as one man with one heart.” Once they made that vow, they were tasked with passing unity on to the rest of the world, thereby becoming “a light unto nations.” It may not appear so on the surface, but as long as Jews maintain their unity, they are appreciated. When they disassociate and thereby abandon their commitment to humanity, they cease to be a light unto nations and in so doing invoke hatred toward them.
I have been frequently criticized for expressing this view. However, this is not my personal view but the view of our sages throughout the generations. In that sense, I am only the messenger.
The Midrash (Beresheet Rabah, 66) writes about the Jews: “This nation, world peace dwells within it.” The Talmud writes in Masechet Yevamot: “No calamity comes to the world but because of Israel.” Midrash Tanhuma (Devarim, Portion, Nitzavim) writes, “Israel will not be redeemed until they are one bundle.” The Mishnah (Okatzin 3:12) asserts, “The Lord did not find a receptacle that holds a blessing for Israel but peace, as it was said (Psalms 29), ‘The Lord will give strength to His people, the Lord will bless His people with peace.’”
The Book of Zohar writes in the portion, Aharei Mot: “‘Behold, how good and how pleasant it is when brothers sit together.’ These are the friends as they sit together and do not part from one another. At first, they seem like people at war, wishing to kill one another. Then, they return to being in brotherly love. And you, the friends who are here, as you were in fondness and love before, henceforth you will also not part. And by your merit there will be peace in the world.”
Not only our ancient sources spoke of the importance of unity for the people of Israel and for the entire world. Our sages continued to talk about it throughout the generations.
“When Israel have unity, there is no end to their attainment,” writes the book, Noam Elimelech (The Pleasantness of Elimelech). “The prime defense against calamity is love and unity. When there are love, unity, and friendship between each other in Israel, no calamity can come over them,” adds Rabbi Kalonymus Halevi Epstein in Maor VaShemesh (Light and Sun). “We are commanded at each generation to strengthen the unity among us so our enemies do not rule over us,” wrote Rabbi Eliyahu Ki Tov in The Book of Consciousness. The Ramchal also wrote in The Commentary of Ramchal on the Torah: “Moses wished to complete the correction of the world at that time. … However, he did not succeed because of the corruptions that occurred along the way.”
In the previous century, the two greatest spiritual leaders of the generation, Rav Kook and Rav Yehuda Ashlag, author of the complete Sulam (Ladder) commentary on The Book of Zohar, wrote extensively about the role of Israel toward the world and the vital part that Israel’s unity plays in carrying out its task. In Orot (Lights), Rav Kook wrote, “The construction of the world, which is currently crumpled by the dreadful storms of a blood-filled sword, requires the construction of the Israeli nation … in anticipation of a force full of unity that is found in Israel.” Similarly, Rav Ashlag asserted, “It is upon the Israeli nation to qualify itself and all the people of the world to develop until they take upon themselves that sublime work of the love of others, which is the ladder to the purpose of Creation” (“The Arvut” [Mutual Guarantee]).
Returning to The Book of Zohar, the famous Tikkun no. 30 stresses that when Israel are not united, they “bring about the existence of poverty, ruin, and robbery, looting, killing, and destructions in the world.”
Establishing Constructive Activism
If we Jews want to help heal American society, certainly a commendable aspiration, we must return to our roots. Only unity above our differences—without suppressing any view but rather by embracing diversity above disputes and mutual disdain—will serve as an example worth following. Hurling abuse at people for their political views will not award us esteem. It will also not make us more acceptable in American society. What the nations want from us is leadership by way of example, not by way of retribution.
Surprisingly, some of the worst enemies of the Jewish people were keenly aware of the power of Jewish society and our role toward humanity. The famous anti-Semitic industrialist, Henry Ford, wrote in his infamous book, The International Jew—the World’s Foremost Problem: “Modern reformers, who are constructing model social systems on paper, would do well to look into the social system under which the early Jews were organized.” Elsewhere in the book, Ford wrote, “Society has a large claim against the Jew … that he begin to fulfill … the ancient prophecy that through him all the nations of the earth should be blessed.”
Rav Yehuda Leib Arieh Altar (the ADMOR of Gur) wrote in Sefat Emet (Language of Truth): “Because they sinned, that force of unity was taken from the wicked and was given to the children of Israel… We should trust it for because our intention is good, we are certain to succeed, since the force of unity assists us.” Rav Yehuda Ashlag added similarly in his essay, “The Arvut” (Mutual Guarantee), when he explained the meaning of being “a light unto nations”: “You shall be My Segula [remedy/virtue] from among all peoples. This means that sparks of purification and cleansing [from unfounded hatred] shall pass through you onto all the peoples and the nations of the world.”
Eliezer Ben Yehuda, reviver of the Hebrew language, wrote in The Complete Writings of Eliezer Ben Yehuda (Vol. 1): “We have yet to open our eyes and see that only unity can save us. Only if we all unite … to work in favor of the entire nation, our labor will not be in vain.” Likewise, A.D. Gordon, the chief ideologist of Zionism, asserted in Light of Life on the Day of Smallness: “‘All of Israel are responsible for one another’ … Only where people are responsible for one another there is Israel. Moreover, all the people are responsible for one another, and only where people are responsible for one another there are people (and there is a nation, a humane nation). If there are none who are responsible for one another, what is there? We, who are coming to build [the State of Israel], will certainly not build on the basis of relations of the generation of separation [generation of Babylon, when people were separated].”
And finally, David Ben Gurion, the first Prime Minister of Israel, stated the following in Revolution of the Spirit: “Love your neighbor as yourself is the superior commandment in Judaism. With these three words, the eternal, human law of Judaism was formed… The state of Israel will be worthy of its name only if its social, economic, political, and judicial structure are based upon these three eternal words.”
With these few quotes out of many others found in numerous writings of our sages, I tried to convey their simple message that the role of the Jewish people is not to be political activists. Rather, it is to be a role model of unity. If we do this, we will bring peace upon ourselves and upon the world, since we will be “a light unto nations.”

The Real Wisdom Of Kabbalah

laitman_214Question from FacebookI don’t think it is necessary to promote Kabbalah. It isn’t a remedy for the common cold. Whoever is looking for it will find it by himself. Otherwise, the outcome will be like with Madonna who publicized to the world that she studies Kabbalah, but in fact remained…I will not say what.
Answer: First, she did not study the wisdom of Kabbalah. Taking a book, reading it or studying a little with someone is not studying the wisdom of Kabbalah.
We are undergoing a period in which the wisdom of Kabbalah will become increasingly more popular, we don’t know how popular it will become, but it will at least be heard. People will look for it and will try to discover and identify what the true wisdom of Kabbalah is from all the huge piles of garbage. The real wisdom of Kabbalah operates in a person in a very simple manner; it raises him above his egoistic nature. This is the whole wisdom of “Love thy friend as thyself.” This is the basic original law.
If we want to be in a state of mutual guarantee, “as one man in one heart,” people need to work on themselves in order to correctly implement the wisdom that speaks about one thing only: love thy friend is the great rule of the Torah. I hope that the coming year will help make things clear to people so that they can understand this point better.

How Does Faith Change A Person?

Laitman_712_03Question: What kind of qualitative change occurs in a person when he acquires the faith that Kabbalah speaks about?
Answer: To the degree that a person acquires faith, meaning that he acquires the characteristic of bestowal, he begins to feel a world that is hidden from him, the upper force that is concealed from him called the Creator. When a person acquires the characteristic of bestowal, he begins to feel that he exists in the space of the upper force and he departs from the frameworks of time, movement and location because in the upper world these limitations don’t exist.
Our worldly life can be called beastly because it exists on the levels of still, vegetative, and animate nature. The level of Adam—Man—is above this. So a person who wants to attain the upper world begins to feel his worldly life only as a support, as a condition for attaining the upper world. His worldly life could end at any moment, and what he attains in the upper world always remains with him, he exists within this and continues to ascend further in the levels of spiritual development.

What Will Help The World Get Out Of Deadlock?

Laitman_115_06Question from FacebookIf the wisdom of Kabbalah is the only way out of the impasse, and all must study it, then why are people still not so eager for it? Is there a way out of the deadlock in the world with the help of the wisdom of Kabbalah?
Answer: Exiting the world’s state of deadlock is possible only through the wisdom of Kabbalah, which explains how to transcend our egoism. Today egoism is slowly burning up; it has stopped working. People have become indifferent to everything. Give them some drugs and a little food and they won’t need anything else. They have nothing to strive for.
The current level of development has a precise end. Individuals already discovered it many years ago and today it is being discovered by the masses who don’t want anything. Even from the point of view of industrial development, there is no escape for us. Humanity has no need to work since machines manufacture everything. It is possible to feed, clothe, and provide everyone with shoes without the participation of people in the production process; they can get everything that they need to live.
It will become clear that the next level of development will not be by means of using the ego. So how do we proceed? What do we exist for? The world is beginning to lose its internal vital force because if there is no fuel in the form of egoism, everything will crumble: the family, society, and reciprocity. And here the wisdom of Kabbalah comes to help.

New Life #809 – The Impact Of Judaism On Humanity

New Life #809 – The Impact Of Judaism On Humanity
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe
Summary
According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, which is the internality of Judaism, equality means that that there are no differences between people and that everyone is equal and important.
Humanity would not have developed without the spiritual development of AdamAbraham, and our other forefathers, which they spread to the world.
The meaning of human dignity stems from the fact that we are all part of one system so everyone is special and very important.
3,500 years ago, the ego erupted in ancient Babylon and Abraham taught a group of people who wanted to ascend above it and connect. Western society enacted laws regarding human dignity without the intention of keeping them from the heart. Human life has lost its value today despite the growing numbers of fatalities in traffic accidents, acts of terrorism, etc. UN delegates want to devour each other, thus re-education is needed for everyone!
We have reached a crisis and there is nothing to hold on to any more except for nice words. We are nearing the birth of a new state.

What Is The Easy Way Of Correcting The World?

laitman_944Question: Is the Light that our world group can draw enough to correct the world, or must we keep expanding our group?
Answer: If we keep expanding our world group, we will be able to reach correction sooner, and the correction will be easier because conveying an intensive Light through a small group is a big problem.

The Predictions Of Futurologists

laitman_627_1Comment: There are many predictions that are not made by people with special properties but by people called futurologists, or people who have a fertile imagination, like science fiction writers.
Answer: Futurologists are people who, based on science, technology, and the progression of various strata of humanity, predict a general trend for the next 50 or 100 years.
Comment: Futurologists predict that by the year 2030 robots will have been invented that will connect our brains directly to a data cloud, and it will be possible to print both food and houses on 3-D printers.
Answer: In the future we will print everything on printers, there is no problem. It is possible to load a printer with palm oil and it will issue sausages, cold cuts, dairy products, porridge, and everything else.
Question: They say that in another 20 years, toward the year 2045, a unique revolution will begin, meaning that an artificial brain will transcend the biological brain. Will an artificial person have a soul?
Answer: There is no connection between the soul and the brain.
Question: If a robot were to sit next to a person and manage a program, what would a person do?
Answer: I see how people talk with a computer today, so why would he not talk with a smart robot and exchange information with it?
Question: Do you mean just rational information?
Answer: This would not only be intellectual information but even emotions. A regular person is a mechanism whose actions and responses can be completely calculated and predicted because all of these are not found in a spiritual space; there is nothing here that cannot be predicted.
We can create machines that could communicate with us splendidly, instead of people. Likewise, as we would want, according to how we would direct them and the data that we insert, they could be lyrical, rigid, or romantic, directed toward musical or psychological communication, etc. They could be integrated and composed of different kinds of characters.
Comment: This would be more attractive if they would be faithful friends, good friends….
Answer: It depends on how we program them; after all, they could also be the opposite, very cruel.
You would go to the store, choose a robot for yourself shaped like a little dog or a tough friend. Why not? They don’t have to be shaped like a person. There are no limits.
A person reacts to everything that happens in the world just like every beast. The nature of the still, vegetative, and animate is absolutely capable of being programmed. So there is nothing secret in a person, nothing that is sublime. But on the next level he begins to attain the soul, meaning “a portion of the divine from above” (Job 31:2). Then he is no longer a person but what is called an “ambulatory soul.”

Fear Is A Lack Of Fulfillment

laitman_547_01Question: Fear is a very strong emotion. How can I cope with it?
Answer: By using the Ohr Makif (Surrounding Light). All of our emotions are positive or negative fulfillments of our desires, and fear is a lack of fulfillment.
It is the fundamental component of our sense of life, the world, and it comes from empty desires. When we are fulfilled, fear disappears, and when we are empty, the feeling of worry and insecurity appears.
There are close to 800 kinds of fear in the world. It is a very serious feeling of empty desires, called a Kli (vessel).
It is possible to cure fear with the help of the wisdom of Kabbalah, but to do this we must study it systematically and most importantly to study in a group! The empty desires will rapidly be filled then, and negative emotions will be replaced by positive ones.
So the most useful thing possible to hope for is working in a group since it is very difficult for a single person to achieve such a state. It is very easy to arouse the Ohr Makif in a group, and without a group, it is very difficult.

The Wisdom Of Kabbalah About Depression

laitman_532Question: Many people including youth and elderly people suffer from depression today. For some reason it is considered a mental illness. Is there a solution to depression according to the wisdom of Kabbalah?
Answer: There is a solution. Depression is the result of our unsatisfied desires. A person has nothing but desires; if these desires are fulfilled, we feel joy. If they are partially fulfilled, we feel partial dissatisfaction, a state we are in all the time and which we have gotten used to.
We try to neutralize this dissatisfaction in different ways: by watching movies, playing football, taking pills, using drugs, etc., and thus somehow we keep ourselves afloat.
There are modes of depression in which we feel a deep black, gaping emptiness inside us, and we don’t feel any filling in the present and don’t feel that there will be any in the future either, which is indeed a difficult situation.
A person usually lives with hope for the future. He plans ahead to go on vacation, to go fishing, to play football with friends, etc. A person is usually occupied with thoughts about food, sex, family, wealth, respect, knowledge, and recreation. We have invented all this in our world as a distraction so we will be able to exist in this life. But when it is all swallowed by darkness, a person is in a serious mode of depression and is ready to die. With regard to this it is written: “my death is better than my life.”
The moment a person begins to feel such modes of depression, he asks himself about the meaning of life: “Is there no meaning to life in this world?” Such states lead him to the wisdom of Kabbalah. Therefore, it is practically impossible to reach the wisdom of Kabbalah without feeling depressed because it is a question of the meaning of existence.
If a person finds meaning in actions like sleeping, eating, traveling, and in general finds pleasure in something, the question about the meaning of life does not emerge in him. It is as if he is fine, but this meaning in life is on the animate level. If a person is not satisfied by such actions, he reaches the wisdom of Kabbalah.
Therefore, the first question a person asks as he comes to the wisdom of Kabbalah is: “What is the meaning of life? How can you fill this life? What is the point in this life?” It is actually the pointlessness that develops a person because our entire development is only under the pressure and suffering of the desire to discover and attain something. A person feels that he lacks something, but in fact he lacks the meaning of life.
After all the revelations throughout human history, the question is: “What for? Why? What is the meaning of all this?” Eventually it should bring us to the revelation of the true meaning of life.
We should understand that our world is merely a springboard from which we have to push ourselves and ascend to the next dimension that is right here in this world. We transcend to the next dimension while living in our corporeal body, while living in this world with a family, a job and everything else, and at the same time, we begin to attain the next world. This is the true meaning.
The system pushes us to search for this meaning and there wouldn’t be anything without it. And so our ego is called help against because it is actually the empty ego that pushes man in the right direction.

Everything Proceeds From Spiritual Roots

laitman_746_02Question: Why do we need Kabbalistic geography? Is it related to the geography of the corporeal world, which is about coordinates, landscapes. etc.?
Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah explores and teaches everything that stems from the root of creation. The root of creation is the four phases of the spreading of the Direct Light, which means the first ten Sefirot. When the Light began to bestow a point inside it, the first phase appeared and then the second phase, the third, and the fourth, then there was a restriction and everything continued to develop.
The Light that spreads affects the desire that appeared in it, the desire to receive, to enjoy, to be filled, and the desire began to change accordingly.
Since on one hand, the Light carries the filling , and on the other hand, the attribute of bestowal, which is its essence and conveys them to the desire, two reactions occur in the desire. The first is that the created being enjoys the filling of the Light because it is opposite from the Creator so that it can receive pleasure from Him. The second is that the desire gradually resembles the Light and perceives its character and attributes, which diminishes the desire to enjoy in it.
All the next levels of the development of the created being stem from the emergence of these two opposite attributes in matter, in the desire to enjoy. The created being develops through five worlds by being divided into an external part called “the world” and an internal part called “soul.” It thus develops until the lowest point in its spiritual evolution.
Then there is a transition to the level of our world and the spreading of its matter, which is a mark of the spiritual world. And the matter of our world is a matching replica between matter and the spiritual forces.
Therefore, whatever happens in the spiritual world in the coordination between the forces, happens in our world in the coordination between the different parts of different matter. This leads to a very interesting phenomenon: on the edge of some galaxy, the tiny quite unimpressive globe appeared. And despite what we know about the universe and that the Earth is somewhere on the side, it is actually at the center of the universe from the perspective of the impact of the upper forces in our world.
Of course we don’t feel that because we don’t have the scientific instruments that enable us to perceive it, but Kabbalists tell us about this.
Then the oceans, the seas, the continents, islands, and huge areas of plants and animals, the underwater world, and eventually man, who historically settled all over the earth and now covers the whole globe, appeared on the surface of the Earth.
The existence of the continents, oceans, natural areas, four races of mankind, numerous nations, different ethnic groups, and everything else stem from the upper spiritual root.
The coordination of the spiritual forces in the spiritual world is revealed in our world in the form of a corporeal seal, including the earth and everything on it, including us. If we take our small system, which includes the sun, the moon, and the different planets, the Earth and everything on it, the wisdom of Kabbalah describes everything in a very detailed way. It even tells us about hidden places in the universe, which we have only recently discovered, and sometimes about things that one can only guess that they exist and which we will probably discover in the future.
Generally speaking, geography, as well as astronomy, is fully described in the wisdom of Kabbalah. You can also find the roots of geology, and anthropology in Kabbalah books because there is nothing new under the sun and everything spreads from the upper root to the lower branches, to its outcome.
Because there is only the coordination between forces in the upper root, it creates the imprint of these forces and the connection between them in the matter of our world, and this is actually the reason that we can describe the upper spiritual forces through the objects in our world and by the interaction between them.

New Life #808 – Between Liberalism And Judaism

New Life #808 – Between Liberalism And Judaism
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe
Summary
Man is the crown of creation because his desire is the greatest. His desire is an egoistic desire, which means he enjoys at the expense of others.
The ego buries us in this world, but we have been given an opportunity to ascend above it to an infinite unlimited world.
5,777 years ago, a scientist named Adam, whom we call First Man (Adam HaRishon), discovered that it was possible to ascend above our nature and developed the method for correcting man and society. Kabbalists who followed him continued this method, but as the generations descended, the Jewish people distorted the method of correction and now it is only empty words. Judaism today is built only on externality without the internal correction that is found only in the wisdom of Kabbalah.
We are facing a revolution that Adam HaRishon predicted 5,777 years ago, a revolution in which relationships of exploitation and egoism will change to relationships of connection and love. We have to lead all of humanity to love of others, to the feeling that we are all one, to the feeling of the upper force.

Do Not Confuse The Wisdom Of Kabbalah With Other Methods

laitman_546_01Question: Education is carried out today through various media. Does the education you speak about require some kind of physical contact, or can it be realized virtually, through the Internet?
Answer: Physical contact is certainly preferable. But if it doesn’t exist, it is also possible virtually.
But don’t confuse the Kabbalistic education with any other methods! It is possible to arrange lessons both online and offline, the main thing is to adhere strictly to the Kabbalistic method and not mix it with anything else; otherwise, you will be confused and not clarify anything.

At A Challenging Moment

laitman_562_02Question: There are now more than 3,000 different spiritual faiths and practices in the world. When a person has a problem, he automatically turns to some force with an internal scream. To whom or what is a person turning to at such a moment?
Answer: If you want to turn correctly, you must only turn to the Creator for help in connecting with others and discovering Him. This means that in the wisdom of Kabbalah we are asking the Creator to change us. Generally, all people ask the Creator to remove the disturbances that are in their way, meaning to change the world “according to a person’s desire.”
Such a “consumer” attitude toward the Creator like this will begin to change when very strong feelings appear in the person that everything that is happening in the world is a result of his attitude toward the Creator.
If we are talking about a Kabbalist, then everything depends on the level he is on. Likewise, a Kabbalist passes through states that bring him below a regular person. When he is in descent, he is able to ask for himself and to carry out deeds that are difficult to define in advance.
But this happens only during a descent. When he is active, when he has power, clearly he always asks for help in changing himself because he understands how the system operates.
A Kabbalist understands that blows are goodness and kindness; they are help and concern from the Creator, because precisely thanks to these blows, he can connect with the Creator above them.
The problem is that the blows don’t happen only to him but to all those who are close to him until the completion of correction. But in the beginning of the correction, everyone is vulnerable to the Creator!

Can We Predict The Future?

laitman_220Question: Is it possible to scientifically predict the future?
Answer: It is impossible because Western society has lost its stable form and there is no new model of society or a state to replace the old model. There is a trend of social decline and of social isolation. The waves of immigration from poor to wealthy places are increasing. And the mechanism of assimilating immigrants is refused and the gates are closing.
The future is depicted to us as if all our basic necessities will be given for free. Robots will work and people will be idle. This future is opposite from the present and is not compatible with it. Therefore, the transition to the future, which is about to take place in ten years, is not understood and cannot be predicted in any way.
[200137]

An Education In Common

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Is the education of the members in a group studying Kabbalah adequate, does it have a place and in which circumstances exactly?
Answer: We have an education in common: I with him, he with me, we, all of us are together! We don’t really educate each other. It is just called an “educational method.” It is actually an educational method for correcting a group of Ten so we form the proper connection between us!
After we create a group of Ten, everything else comes automatically. We discover the positive force in nature, it balances the negative force, creates the correct system of mutual connection between us, and we begin to feel a connection with the system of the world that until now was concealed. It is called the upper world or the concealed world.
We feel it in our desires through which we weave connections between the ten members. That is how we attain our soul, our eternal and perfect state! From this moment on, what happens in our earthly life, in our temporary body, no longer matters because we have already revealed the next state, the next level.

Should We Live Forever?

laitman_751_2Question: Do you believe the predictions that people will live to the age of 300 to 400 in the future?
Answer: It’s not a problem. This is possible.
Question: And immortality? Many people predict that we will attain the point of eternal life.
Answer: I cannot determine or confirm that this is possible because it is about biological matter, but I believe that until then, people will not want to live an empty life and will want to exit the limitations of our physical body.
Can you imagine what it means to live forever? It means that you have no right to die, that you have no right to end your perishable existence. It is as if you are on hold at the age of 35 or 40 while everyone around you is getting old and dying, and you don’t. That is scary.
Question: Still, it seems that, if we offer this to a person, he would gladly agree.
Answer: I am not sure. I am 70, for example, and I don’t want to be younger, I want to properly finish what I need to in this lifetime in a normal way, and that’s it. It is good that we have a time limit.

A Network Of The Right Forces

laitman_934Question: Can you detail the basic principles of the educational methods of the wisdom of Kabbalah?
Answer: The first principle: a person cannot educate himself on his own, and the teacher or educator cannot raise him! To do this a group called a “group of Ten,” of which he is a member, is needed. A guide who is outside of the group explains in how they should interact with each other to strive for the positive upper force. The negative higher force already exists in us. It is our egoism.
How do we attract the positive higher force? This occurs as a result of the correct interaction within the group, as much as ten egoists long to unite with each other. Along with this, each one nullifies himself with respect to the others and tries to increase and elevate the importance of the other nine people in his eyes. He tries to make an equivalent connection with all of them, thinking about them equally and absolutely balanced.
All ten people build a mutual connection between them on equal terms: Each one is higher than the others when he shows how he wants to give them everything that he has, and each one is lower than the others by demonstrating a desire to listen to each and every one of them equally in that he wants to create the correct network of mutual links between them. That is how there are three forces present in this network, positive, negative, and neutral.
So to the extent that they are ready, they gradually cultivate and shape everything and weave a network from the correct forces. Along with this, they pass through ascents and descents on the way and overcome every possible problem together. The Light then works on them in a positive manner because they are longing for it.
The Light eventually begins to be revealed in them and basically each one gives a negative force from himself, and all of them receive the positive force together. They begin to exist within a sandwich of the common collective positive force and the common collective negative force, which balances them. In this manner, from the two forces, they create a balanced system called a soul.
Within it they feel the upper world and the flow of special forces, emotions, and characteristics. This is the implementation of the method.

New Life #807 – What Is Self-Correction Really?

New Life #807 – What Is Self-Correction Really?
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel
Summary
What is self-correction in Judaism? How can we use every attribute correctly? And what would our lives be like if we enjoyed giving to others?
Everyone is born with certain attributes that cannot be changed, but only the proper use for them can be found.  The use of our attributes should be according to the general law of reality of “love thy friend as thyself” since we are all parts of one system.
Self-correction means using each and every attribute we have for the sake of others. A person should reach a state in which he is free and uses everything he has without hiding anything. Self-correction is done in two phases: first “don’t do unto others what is hateful to you,” and then “love thy friend as thyself.”
If we don’t correct ourselves, we will all deteriorate to a point where everyone will shut himself off in a corner and will settle for a little bit of food, a computer, a telephone, and drugs.
Everything depends on the relations between us. We can only enjoy life if we bestow unto each other, just like a mother who gives to her children and enjoys it. A mother uses all her qualities in order to bestow unto her children.
When everyone sees his or her fulfillment in caring about others, we will feel that we are full of pleasure. Implementing the rule” love thy friend as thyself” depends on education and on the agreement of all of society.
Israel is scrutinized under a magnifying glass in the world because people feel that we have to be an example for everyone.

What Is Truth?

laitman_527_03Question: What is truth?
Answer: Truth evades us all the time as a result of our great efforts to attain it. As soon as we try to attain it, a greater depth is revealed to us based upon the contradictions that exist in the previous truth. So, we try to find it again.
This truth is the middle line and is found in Ein Sof. The entire movement in our development and yearning is aimed toward attaining what we call truth.
In general, truth is the starting point of all of creation and it is only when we attain this point that we reach the truth. We indeed make tiny steps of discovery on the way toward the truth, but they are not absolute. Even though the absolute truth can be attained, it is still very far from us.
Question: What do you mean when you say that it is necessary to yearn for truth?
Answer: What I mean is a state in which all of humanity is found in absolute adhesion with the upper force, when the Creator is fully attained within the creature.
The Creator is the root, the fundamental principle, and the creature is secondary.
Question: When we are talking about attaining the Creator, do we mean His characteristics?
Answer: When we are talking about the Creator, we mean His characteristic of bestowal and love toward the creature, and about Him with respect to Himself, not the creature, that obviously is also revealed in Ein Sof.
Adhesion with the Creator is resemblance and equivalence of the characteristics of the creature with the Creator. Through this equivalence, attainment of the Creator is realized, attainment of His thoughts in relation to us, attainment of what was before His thought, His decision to create us and even the attainment of the state before this decision, meaning the state in which only He is found within Himself.
If we yearn for this, it is almost certain that we can attain even this in our spiritual development.

The Wisdom Of The Wisdom Of Kabbalah

laitman_214Question: If the goal of the Creator is only to give us pleasure, why did He create a system in which negative feelings were prepared for a person from the start, like separation, illness and death?
Answer: Currently in our situation we are like “little beasts” who are managed, whereas an Adam (Man) is someone who manages himself by himself through the upper world and from himself creates an essence similar to the Creator. So he is called an Adam (from the word “Domeh” – similar). So you choose how to act, either you remain as a little beast or become an Adam.
In principle, we don’t have much choice because we must advance and develop; suffering doesn’t allow us to stagnate. Therefore, whether we want it or not, suffering will push us and we gain the possibility of changing ourselves, our fate, and our world anyway.
The wisdom of Kabbalah makes it possible to do this without preliminary suffering, like a wise person who sees what he is facing from the start and so he releases himself from suffering by consciously directing himself toward the right decision.
