New Life #1021 – The Uniqueness Of The Human Brain, Part 2

New Life #1021 – The Uniqueness Of The Human Brain, Part 2
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz
Summary
The human brain acts as a modem and is infinite in its potential to develop. The brain serves the desire in one’s heart and mind. It leads to self-destruction and death when serving the egoistic desire to receive for oneself. As we open our hearts to one another with the desire to give and share, the brain expands until we feel an infinite world. When we switch from the program of reception to the program of bestowal, we come to know and understand everything. The person becomes a pipeline or passage to complete integrity, soul perception, and the revelation of the Creator in this world.

The End Of All Generations

laitman_293Question: What is the “end of all generations”? Is it the end of physical life or a special personal state?
Answer: The end of all generations is the end of the ascent up the spiritual ladder, when we reach its summit.
Question: What does it mean that we are in the stage of the last generation?
Answer: To be in the stage of the last generation means to approach the ascent on the spiritual ladder and ascend it as the last generation.

The Attitude Of The Masses To Kabbalah

laitman_254.03Question: Why does merely mentioning terms of the science of Kabbalah arouse a negative reaction among people who do not study it?
Answer: The fact is that throughout the years of the existence of Kabbalah there have been so many fabrications around it that it is natural that no one is indifferent to it.
Only specific people understand Kabbalah and they are its followers. Everyone else is very cautiously and warily interested in it. They consider it something dark, bad, and dangerous.
Most importantly, religion, being based on blind faith, is also against Kabbalah. They tell me how to behave, and like a wind-up-toy, I mechanically perform the prescribed actions.
Kabbalists say: “No, you must explore this world, explore the Creator, and wish to understand and attain Him with your mind.” Attain the Creator in order to be like Him, to serve Him exactly by becoming equal to Him. This is the state we must reach.

Melting The Hearts Into One Heart

laitman_254.01Everything is achieved through unification. The success of the unification depends on both how far apart we are from each other, and our understanding that only above the strong separation can we reach a level where the Creator is revealed between us and starts to unite us. Therefore, the congress in Europe provides us with the best conditions for a genuine realization of unification, that is, the Creator’s revelation to the creations in this world, which is the goal of the wisdom of Kabbalah.
We have to use this gathering to achieve not only external, but also internal unification that will be strong enough to reveal the upper force in it according to the similarity of properties.1
Adam HaRishon is the system of ten Sefirot, which continues to exist in its original form, only that egoistic desires came inside it and stalled it. As a result, the system stopped working, and we have to put it back into action. All the parts of the system remained and we only need to adjust it to that additional desire that was revealed in it and that blocked the connections between all the elements. This is called the partition.
Adam HaRishon is a system of connections between us, like a web of ten Sefirot. We must launch this system, provided that we correctly use the desire to enjoy, that is, for the sake of bestowal.
By connecting all parts of this system again above the separation, each receives the whole soul and everyone will feel it all. Therefore, achieving the goal of creation and attaining the Creator depends precisely on the connection and mutual inclusion of the broken parts.
By correcting the separation, the creations will acquire tools for attaining the Creator. Without division and correction, it is impossible to reveal the upper force. By working together on the correction and unification of all parts, the creation creates the Creator, as it is written: “As though he had made Me.”2
In applying our efforts to unite, we discover that the Creator himself is between us as an obstacle to unification.3
If a person is alone, he will surely complain and curse the Creator, and if he is connected with the group and the ten, he will certainly glorify Him.4

World Breastfeeding Week

From My Facebook Page Michael Laitman 8/1/18
Breast Milk: Humanity’s Greatest Natural Asset
As we head into World Breastfeeding Week (August 1-7, 2018), the US has just made breastfeeding in public legal in all 50 states. Hopefully, the new legislation will raise the importance of breastfeeding in general.
At this point you may be asking yourself, what does the wisdom of Kabbalah have to do with encouraging women to breastfeed?
The wisdom of Kabbalah deals a lot with the concept of ‘suckling’, but not in its physiological aspect, rather in the context of its spiritual roots – the spiritual forces that create the phenomenon of breastfeeding in our physical world.
From the spiritual system we can learn that the mother’s natural nourishment contains unique forces, vital not only to the physical body of the newborn, but also for his or her spiritual development. However, the scientific tools we have today are incapable of detecting all of the subtle and delicate components found in breast milk.
Beyond the many benefits of mother’s milk that medicine indicates, such as antibodies that protect the newborn’s body against diseases, mental development, and more, there is also an emotional nourishment that flows between the mother and baby. The newly arrived baby needs continuous contact with his mother, in as much as it can be similar to how it was in the womb.
Breastfeeding connects the mother and infant to a single system, in which the mother’s blood turns into milk, and becomes blood once again within the baby’s body. This is why breast milk is so important, since it’s almost identical to being fed through the umbilical cord in the mother’s womb.
The great Kabbalist, the Ari, wrote about the spiritual roots of this in his book Tree of Life(Etz Chaim): “After the birth of the newborn, the upper blood returns to be milk… blood is turned into milk within the full belly, and from that juice, butter is made to feed the baby.”
The milk carries with it the mother’s physicality and her smell, but also her attitude and her inner world, her life wisdom and other factors that cannot be measured scientifically. It is an open communication channel for twenty-four months, through which much information flows, raising the baby according to the countless changes that shape his world emotionally, physiologically and mentally.
At the age when the baby begins to walk and still breastfeeds, as several layers of connection are formed. On the one hand, the baby can “escape” its mother and begin to build his independence away from her. On the other hand, the emotional need and the constant connection between them connects them for life.
The mother also enjoy the benefits of breastfeeding not only in the physical sense, but as it is written, “Hear the sons of your father’s morality, and not abandon your mother’s Torah” (Proverbs 1: 8). From his mother, the baby receives what is referred to as “Torah” – the inner lights that develop his inner qualities, preparing him for future spiritual development. Over the course of his life, he will seek that deep connection, only at a higher level – to be born as a spiritual person and suckle from his higher root.

Kabbalah Congress In Italy

From My Facebook Page Michael Laitman 8/1/18
Earlier this week, I came back from a successful international Kabbalah convention in Rome. Three days of exhilarating connection that filled me and hundreds of my students. However, before the flight back, we saw another reality.
The restaurants were empty of diners, the shops empty of buyers. The boot-shaped country is limping. The capital of Italy, known for its glamorous culture of food and fashion, is losing its glamour. The demographic balance has also changed, my local students have told me. Couples consider marriage only from the age of thirty-five and up, if at all. And they are not worried about having children, because according to them, it can happen until they are fifty.
Checking the Italian pulse reinforces a global diagnosis: human culture is both dying and being reborn at the same time. What used to be shiny is no longer apparent to the human ego. People are becoming indifferent as emptiness grows inside of them. It lands like a cloud, covering the horizon, and causing everyone to walk in the fog.

Were The Prophets Kabbalists?

laitman_741.02Question: Can it be said that the prophets were Kabbalists? And if yes, then why did almost all of the prophets complain?
Answer: Prophecy is one of the levels of attainment of the Creator. The book of Ramchal, a great Kabbalist of the 17th century, called The Path of the Creator, describes spiritual levels of attainment, one of which is called “the level of prophecy.”
It is one of the levels Kabbalists attain, and you too can achieve this state. A person on this level is already above the limitations of time, space, and movement, and that is why he is called a prophet. In other words, he sees what will be ahead and what was left behind, he sees this outside of time and even outside of actions.
Question: Then why did the prophets complain?
Answer: It is because they felt regret for what was happening to humanity, how people did not understand that they were only harming themselves. It is very sad to look upon this, like looking at a young child, you understand that he brings unhappiness onto himself.

The Study Of Kabbalah—Without Limitations

laitman_269Question: Who is the study of Kabbalah meant for?
Answer: For everyone without exception because all who are born on this earth can attain their eternal state and remain in it by taking advantage of the opportunity given to them in this material life.
Question: What need can there possibly be for the majority of people to study this exalted wisdom?
Answer: The need is to understand the meaning of life and to attain it, rising to the next level of existence even before death in this world.

New Life #1019 – Personal Capability In A Connected World

New Life #1019 – Personal Capability In A Connected World
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe
Summary
If you try to connect to others and fail, you need to examine the reason: what does nature want from you? Every person can adapt themselves to trends in the development of nature and learning to connect with people correctly. In the future, it will be necessary to feel connected to the entirety of humanity just as a small village was connected in the past. We will require a special education in order to learn how to communicate with all of society, nature, and reality as a whole.

I Want Truth, Not Games

laitman_241.01Question from Facebook: You always talk about playing a game. I hate this word. I want truth in a relationship, not games. What should I do?
Answer: Fate plays with a person. We should understand that we must play in order to draw the upper force that will change and correct us.
The game is not just playing, but checking one’s present state and orienting toward the future at every moment. Since the future is unknown and the present, in general, is not particularly evident, we are always in a fog, in a confused state: How should we proceed?
The correct behavior of a person in relation to the future is called “play” because we ourselves do not determine our future, just our attitude toward it.
Setting ourselves up for the correct attitude toward a good future will bring us good in the present. This is how we will advance.
It is very serious work, but since our next state is unclear to us, our movement toward each other, our attitude to the world, to life, even to the Creator, is like acting on a stage, when we are acting out our best future state, imagining what it can be. When we aspire to it, then accordingly, we receive it from above.
In principle, it is based only on the fact that the future is unknown, and I can determine it and its relationship to me, my inclusion in it, with the help of actions called “playing.”
Question: Is depression also a game?
Answer: Depression is also a game because we build a picture of the future as completely dark, foggy, unknown, and frightening in front of us.
In principle, Kabbalah discusses only about how we can achieve a real, true, and correct future. We need to create it. When I create this future, I build it from blocks. This is the game.
I am playing all the time, building it. If we correctly understand how to play and create our future from the blocks, it should be to connect these building blocks, what we should imagine. What’s most important is the relationship between us in a world that we can make beautiful. We cannot create it. So, we must learn to play.

Tisha B’Av (Ninth Of Av)

laitman_259.02Our sages said (Tractate Yoma) that the Second Temple was ruined because of unfounded hatred. This is despite the fact that people in it were engaged in the Torah, the commandments, and charity, yet they did not do it selflessly but for the sake of a reward; that is, they fulfilled all the actions except for unification and therefore this work turned from the elixir of life into a deadly poison.
The Torah can be a deadly poison, that is, a medicine that helps kill an egoistic desire, and it can be the potion of life that enlivens the desire to bestow. It is the same upper Light. If it comes to the desire to receive while it is still egoistic and does not yearn to be corrected for bestowal, then it further hardens a person’s heart, leading him to the recognition of evil. Once a person recognizes his evil and truly wants correction, the same Light turns into a good angel.1
First of all, we need to come to the recognition of evil; only it can lead us to the prayer, to the request for correction. The recognition of evil can be from my egoistic qualities, from the fact that I do not want to correct myself, or because I already want to correct myself but do not have enough strength for it. Strength is required not for the correction, but in order to ask the upper Light to correct me.2
The day of Tisha B’Av is grief over the broken soul abandoned by the upper Light, that is, the presence of the Creator. We have to bring it back. It is the fact that we do not want to bring it back, do not want to restore the broken soul—this is the ruin and crime that we should regret. That is, we do not mourn the destruction that once was, but our unwillingness to correct it here and now. We do not want to ask the Creator for our correction, we refuse even to approach this request. This is the real ruin.
We should cry not about the ruined building, but about ourselves, about our broken soul that we can, but do not, restore.3

Communication With The Creator

laitman_565.01Question: What is the Creator’s jealousy? If I am a part of the Creator, how can I be jealous of myself and in regard to whom?
Answer: To the extent that you fail to identify yourself with the Creator, there is an opportunity for jealousy. The Creator is jealous. He wants us to look at Him only. If we stop paying attention to Him, His attitude toward us changes dramatically in order to re-establish maximum connection between us again.
Question: Does the Creator have any qualities or feelings?
Answer: A person assigns various behavioral qualities to the Creator. One cannot perceive the Creator as the absolute because one cannot grasp it. Therefore, with regard to us, the Creator manifests in such a way that we begin to feel Him as an interlocutor, companion, partner, teacher, the one to whom we can attach ourselves and be in mutual communication.
Question: How does a Kabbalist perceive others if he or she is communicating with the Creator constantly?
Answer: I will tell you a secret. There are no others. I exist alone.
Question: Isn’t that lonely?
Answer: No, it is not lonely. Everyone is inside of me.
Question: What does communication with the Creator consist of: questions, dialogues, cries, arguments?
Answer: Communication with the Creator is built on the search for constant and ever-increasing contact, until the point of adhesion. Everything else is perceived just as an incentive, information necessary for complete contact.

New Life #1018 – Personal Capability

New Life 1018 – Personal Capability
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe
Summary
A sensation of personal capability helps to envision a successful future and to bring it closer to us. From a young age, it is important to feel supported by relatives in order to build self-confidence and not give up too easily. Children need to be encouraged to follow their natural desires since desire is a prayer. Instead of teaching them to believe everything in life will succeed, which can lead to depression, it is good to teach them to exercise self-criticism in order to maintain balance in their endeavors.

Medium: “’Survival Of The Richest’ Depends On Them Saving Us All”

Have you heard about “the event”?
Turns out “the event” is a codename for the systemic crisis approaching humanity in giant strides, a euphemism used by the world’s ultra-rich. Whether it will be triggered by an economic meltdown and massive social unrest, climate change, nuclear explosion, an epidemic, or cyber warfare, it will result in global catastrophe, and the upper echelon wants to be ready for “Judgment Day.”
To prepare for the inevitable, five tycoons invited media theorist and technology author prof. Douglas Rushkoff to give them some advice for the symbolic fee of half his annual income.
During the meeting, it suddenly dawned on Rushkoff that the super-rich had a completely different reason for investing in technology: all the newly developing cutting edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, 3D printing, CRISPR and even the colonization of Mars, are seen and supported by the world’s elites as means to save themselves from “the event.”
While we see supermarkets without cashiers, autonomous vehicles and robots doing the work for us — the super-wealthy see means of protection against angry mobs and systemic breakdowns in the not-too-distant future.
Indeed, the wealthy and powerful few have a much broader view of global risk than most of human society. And yet, what they can see and predict is only a fragment of the overall picture. The multi-faceted human crisis originates from a completely different cause and happens for an entirely different purpose to what they understand, which is why they think they can evade it.
The actual “event” is a natural turning point in human evolution, and its origins begin no less than approximately 14 billion years ago with the Big Bang.
Through billions of years, the development of matter created gases, dust, stars and planets, and then the biological life of flora and fauna on Earth. But along with the expansion of the universe, nature also works to bring all levels of life into balance: from the inanimate, to plant life, to animal life, to human life. And our turn has just arrived.
Whether we realize it or not, nature is pushing us to come to balance with it. And that means becoming an integral, harmonious part of the natural system, which necessitates the evolution of human society as a collective species around the planet. Gradually, nature is amplifying our sensitivity to our global interdependence, forcing us to recognize the human network that we are all part of, and transform our societies accordingly.
No technology can stop the laws of nature and no bunker can keep anyone unaffected by them. But, we can learn how to go along with the evolutionary pressure, rather than against it.
To avoid becoming victims of an aggressive breakdown of our current culture, we have to acknowledge and prepare ourselves for our inevitably connected future. People have to learn about the laws of nature and how they form an integral system, where every element depends on its balanced connection with the others and how it complements them.
But that’s the just the beginning of humanity’s transformation. It’s no coincidence that in the last few decades there is a growing body of research from multiple fields confirming that positive human connections make us smarter and better in every sense, as well as happier and healthier. Human beings will have to discover and activate their inherent wiring for connection by consciously practicing it.
The more we practice our positive connections — personally, socially and globally — the more we see that we are coming to balance with the laws of nature, and that will become our new source of fulfillment.
Surely, the transformation of human society will require a massive socio-educational endeavor around the planet, using our media and our technologies in a new way and for a new purpose. The irony is that precisely the people like those who met Rushkoff have all the means necessary to make this happen. What they lack is only the understanding that the only way to save themselves from “the event” is to save human society as well.

Can Betrayal Be Justified?

Laitman_002Question from Facebook: I cannot forgive betrayal. In my mind I understand that a person was put into a difficult situation, but we grew up together, went through thick and thin, and he betrayed me. My stomach turned inside out. What can I do about it?
Answer: It says not to judge until you are in a person’s particular state. You have to move into him, transfer into him with all his internal qualities, into the state he was in. Then you will see whether or not he could have acted differently.
You would see that if you were in an identical situation, being exactly like him, you would have acted the same way. And what would have been the difference between the two of you if you assumed all of it, his qualities and his circumstance? Clearly there would be no difference. Therefore we cannot reproach or despise anyone for anything. I would even say, or love.
Question: Then, it is not clear what “betrayal” means? Is there such a concept?
Answer: No. It only seems to us that a person is betraying—in my egoism I expected a different behavior from him.
Question: Then everything depends only on whether I can truly assume the situation he was faced with?
Answer: Of course. We are biological elements, and everything inside us dictates our actions.
Question: So, is a person that weak?
Answer: A person is not weak, he simply does not exist. He does not exist! He is nobody. He has no ability to control himself. It is only an illusion that constantly “spins” us and seemingly grants us freewill.
Question: Let’s say there is a person who is close to you. How do you relate to him? Can you forgive him for anything?
Answer: I take it as it is. Regarding anyone, close or distant. I am not impressed, annoyed, nor surprised by any relationships people have. I do not fixate on anyone, do not expect anything from anyone other than the Creator. Then I can orient myself somehow toward a certain communication from Him, toward bestowal.
Question: From a person?
Answer: From the Creator through a person. There is no other way. That is, discussing a person doing anything by himself or acting a certain way is wrong, it is incorrect, and we should not attribute or impose some conscious form of behavior on a person. It is not him!
Question: Do you work with the Creator through a person all the time?
Answer: Is there any other way? Of course. The way the Creator controls him, the way He leads him is the way I perceive this person. And such is the relationship of the Creator toward me.

How Do You Know The Creator Is Working?

laitman_568.01Question: What qualities and manifestations of the Creator are described by Kabbalah? How can I recognize that He is operating, playing with me?
Answer: Start being more sensitive to listening, looking at, and thinking about what is happening to you and you will gradually discover the Creator.
The Creator is hiding. But this is not a game! We only speak about it this way .
Question: What does adhesion with the Creator mean? What are its signs? In life, there are moments of absolute happiness, for example, contemplating the beauty of nature. Is this adhesion with the Creator?
Answer: No. That is adhesion with one’s own egoism, which enjoys all sorts of psychological feelings and experiences.
Question: What does it mean: “looking at and listening to what is happening”?
Answer: It means trying to reveal the unified force that governs you.

The Times Of Israel: “Fear Of Death: What If There Is Life After Death?”

The Times of Israel published my new article “Fear of Death: What If There Is Life After Death?
There is one thing we can be sure of in our lives: sooner or later, we will die. If there is such certainty about the fate of every person on this planet, why does the fear of death haunt humanity? What if dying is not as bad as we think? By solving the mystery of what happens after we die, we can find comfort and clarity.
According to a recent Chapman University survey of American fears, 20.3 % of Americans are either “afraid” or “very afraid” of dying, and nearly twice as many (almost 40%) dread losing a loved one. Whether or not we fear death, the simple notion of stepping into the unknown is daunting. Yet what remains clear is that the physical body perishes and gradually disintegrates until it completely vanishes.
How Can We Make Sense of Dying?
It seems as if death robs us of our independence, our very selves, everything we have acquired and done in our lives. Even passing on our achievements and assets that we gather in our lives to our offspring will fade away as one day they will also leave this world. Since death is a phenomenon beyond our comprehension and remains something over which we have absolutely no control, we naturally try to oppose it.
However, paradoxically, in recent years we have witnessed a startling global increase in suicide rates as a consequence of people’s inner emptiness and lack of satisfaction with life. World Health Organization statistics show that out of its 183 member countries, the United States had the seventh largest percentage increase in suicide rates between 2000 and 2016, rising nearly 25%. Every day in the US, an average of 123 suicides go on record, although the actual number is considered to be higher because many cases go unreported since suicide remains culturally taboo. In 2017 alone, the suicide prevention helpline answered over 2 million calls from people looking for confidential crisis counseling.
Particularly in today’s world, problematic conditions in all areas of life are urging us to develop higher awareness about our existence. From a very early age, humanity now asks: “What are we living and dying for? What is the meaning of life? What is the point of all this suffering? Why are we here?” Many people who find no satisfying responses to these discomforting questions, and most importantly, when the sources of happiness and fulfillment dry up, simply give up.
Despite this pressing reality, the basic instinct to survive is still our most powerful driving force. The instinctive impulse to fear death is completely normal, but when it becomes severe it can transform into extreme anxiety, panic and distress, a phenomenon that has become known in medical circles as thanatophobia (lit. “fear of death”).
But is there really a reason to fear death? Is it possible to know exactly what is beyond the barrier of death, without resorting to unverified theories and beliefs? If we could, then perhaps there would be no need to fear death, and we could develop a much more balanced and conscious approach to our lives?
The Question of the Soul
According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, there is no reason to fear death because, as we conceive it, death does not exist. It applies only to the vegetative and animal realms, not to the human level.
What then happens when we die? Here is where we encounter the major questions in relation to life and death: Do we have a soul or not? Are we born with a soul, or do we acquire one when we die? Also, if we don’t have a soul, then can we obtain one during our lifetime?
According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, we are born soulless, and if we don’t attain a soul during our lifetime, then we also die soulless. In order to experience the eternal world, the harmony and balance that come from living in the soul, we must obtain the soul during our lifetime. Kabbalah explains that we are given this life and future incarnations so that we would obtain our soul.
How does it work?
Lying deep in our desires is a “seed of the soul.” This spiritual seed, also known as the “point in the heart,” is a spark that makes possible the birth of spiritual life—the attainment of the soul.
Over generations of human development, this point in the heart has been latent, waiting for the time when it would be able to blossom. According to The Book of Zohar, starting in our generation, this point in the heart would start making its demands in vast masses of people. It becomes expressed in us as feelings of meaninglessness, emptiness and dissatisfaction with merely chasing after life’s corporeal pleasures, and as questions about the meaning and purpose of our lives.
Eventually, these feelings of dissatisfaction with corporeal life and questions about its meaning lead us to the means by which we can develop this tiny desire for spirituality, the point in the heart, into a great desire where we can live in our soul during our lifetime. Essentially, this is a process of exiting our corporeal, self-aimed desires and entering into spiritual, altruistic ones. When we reach this heightened state, nothing ties us down to our corporeal world any longer. Although the biological death of the corporeal body remains, the soul we acquire during our lives is eternal because it exists in the altruistic desire, outside the egoistic, corporeal selves that perish.
From this new vantage point, we feel the life in the soul—the altruistic desire—much greater than the corporeal life we live, where we constantly try to fulfill ourselves. Somewhat similar to how parents feel their lives in their children’s fulfillment and success, we acquire a feeling of life in others.
While we are living in an era where this point in the heart is starting to awaken among masses, we will eventually reach a state where the whole of humanity will enter the spiritual world and live in the eternal soul—where life is endless, and where there is no fear but only joy and freedom. Yet the question remains: We will undergo this development with awareness and understanding of what we’re dealing with, consciously developing our soul, or will we increasingly suffer due to our lack of awareness? It is my hope that everyone will discover the path of awareness—the wisdom of Kabbalah—and enter the process of soul’s discovery, alleviating the need for all kinds of personal, social and global-scale crises to bring us to that awakening.

The Creator Made It, You Correct It

laitman_567.04Question: Isn’t a person’s attitude a direct result of how the Creator made him given his genes and the environment he grew up in?
Answer: Naturally. This is what is said, “Go to the Creator who made you.”
Question: Does understanding this already denote progress?
Answer: It may denote progress, but it is not a correction. The problem is that we have to correct this nature. You can always say, “the Creator made it so,” and what’s next? The Creator made it, and you must correct it.
[229614]
From the Kabbalah Lesson in Russian 3/25/18

What Brings Contentment To The Creator?

laitman_943What is permanent adhesion with the Creator? How can we bring Him contentment, what can we give Him? Is the Creator not perfect?
The Creator is like a parent who wants only one thing: for his children to be good and to have a good life—by this they bring pleasure to the parent. We have nothing more to give to the Creator; there is nothing to fulfill Him with. By the fact that I fulfill my desires in the right way, I fulfill the Creator and bring Him contentment.
You can bring contentment to the Creator by correcting your broken and empty soul. It was created this way deliberately so that we could correct and fill it, bringing contentment to the Creator by that. The better I arrange my spiritual life, the more pleasure I will bring to the Creator. It is like how it is in our life, the more successful the child is, the more he pleases his parents.
In spirituality there is no giving to the upper—everything is within our Kli [vessel]; it is the only thing we are correcting and filling, and by this we can check what contentment we bring to the Creator: how we correct ourselves for connection and for mutual bestowal to each other. Therefore it is written, “From love of the created beings to love of the Creator.”
By bringing pleasure to the friends, I can be certain that I bring contentment to the Creator. The pleasure that I awaken in the Creator can be measured by the type of the correction I achieved and what light I receive into my corrected desire.
We need to correct our approach to correction, because it all happens internally, and therefore spiritual work is called internal work. We need to work only inside the connection between us, which is called the soul, and according to this the Creator will “feel” what work we are doing on ourselves in order to bring Him contentment.
We work in order to rise above our egoism, which is constantly trying to distract us with all sorts of things, and we yearn to correct and fulfill ourselves, but only in order to bring contentment to the Creator. There is direct analogy between the relationship of parents with children and our relationship with the Creator.
To be in permanent adhesion with the Creator means to think in all my actions of what to do inside myself, that is,  in the connection with the friends, inside my soul, in order to bring contentment to the Creator. The more I ask the Creator for help in correcting my soul, like a good child who asks his parents for help, the greater is His contentment. And the parents are happy to help him; it is a pleasure for them.
And the more we ask the Creator for help to correct the connection between us, that is, to correct our soul, the more contentment we bring Him. His pleasure is measured by the light that comes to correct and unite our souls and by the light that fills the corrected soul.
There is nothing we can give to the Creator—the entire work happens between us, in our connection with each other: “From love of the created beings to love of the Creator.” It is revealed only in this way. If we always try to correctly see the place of our connection, of our work, then we are in the permanent adhesion with the Creator.

Why Should I Comprehend Other Souls?

laitman_276.04Question: Why should I comprehend other souls?
Answer: They are parts of your soul. There is nothing unnecessary in creation. You must attain the whole of your soul, which is the unity of all private souls at all times and in all states. By combining them in yourself, you will become like Adam in relation to the Creator.
But do not think that you have to wait for other souls to correct themselves. It is you who must correct them in yourself.

How Do I Live If I Do Not Believe Anyone?

laitman_961.2Question from Facebook: How do I live if I don’t believe anyone?
Answer: You don’t have to believe anyone. The fact is that we are all puppets, the whole world is a theater. And the director, producer, writer, the one who controls everything, the king (as we call Him), that is, having absolute power, is the Creator.
Therefore, we should only deal with Him. All others have no freewill, nothing. Our freewillis only so we can properly bring ourselves closer to the Creator. But, in principle, He is the one who does and operates everything, and there is nothing else that could possibly happen without Him. It is one power that holds onto itself, permeates the entire universe, and controls everything.
I think that it is time for people to start becoming aware of the system we live in—that only one power exists in it and it leads us to a specific goal, along a specific path.
If we imagine this path and this goal within ourselves and want it to be realized, then we are in a positive connection with the Creator, and then we enjoy all this, and that is how it will be. But if we do not, then we’ll be worse off. That is our entire fate.
Question: Then why does He lead us through this “I believe—I don’t believe”?
Answer: He is leading us toward absolute unity so that we are completely united, and then He will be revealed in us—from the hidden, He will become apparent.

Who Can Be Called Righteous?

laitman_571.08Question: Who is aware of evil? And what is “evil” in Kabbalah?
Answer: One who considers himself a sinner is one who is aware of evil, but only to the degree to which he is righteous.
In other words, a person who is aware of evil is called righteous.
Question: And who was he before that?
Answer: No one. He did not understand anything and could not say to himself, “Before, I was and sinner.” Only to the degree to which a person experiences himself as a sinner is he already righteous.
