The World Of A Kabbalist

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Is it possible to say that the worldview of a person who studies the wisdom of Kabbalah correctly is similar to the approach of a scientist who knows that his egoism inserts errors into measurements?
Answer: Someone who studies the wisdom of Kabbalah begins to work with himself correctly, with his egoism and with the quality of the Light, meaning with absolute altruism. He puts the two forces, the force of the Light and the force of the ego, one against the other and begins to gather new forms of existence in life within them where these two opposing forces are integrated together. A person exists between them as the middle line. That is how he builds himself.
Therefore, the wisdom of Kabbalah is a very practical science. This means that to the same degree that a person attains the positive force and the negative force of this world, he builds himself, his world, and what is called the Temple, in a connection between the negative force and the positive force, and creates a place called his soul within which he discovers the Creator.

Hearing The Teacher

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: How can a person not only listen to the teacher, but also eventually hear what the teacher says?
Answer: Hearing what the teacher says is a problem. To do this, you must be in a certain connection with the teacher or with the Creator.
Hearing is the level of Bina, when a person can be absolutely neutral no matter what he hears about the teacher or the Creator. It is a level on which one only wants to hear and then fulfill as much as possible, but not necessarily since it depends on what the level of Bina is.
The level of Hochma, on the other hand, is the level of implementation.

How Can We Check The Truthfulness Of The Study?

laitman_282_02Question: If the wisdom of Kabbalah is the only true study, is there a way of checking this other than the feeling in the heart? After all, one lifetime is not enough to check thousands of methods, each of which claims that it is the only true method. What can you advise?
Answer: You can check as much as you like. The wisdom of Kabbalah tells us where everything stems from. You shouldn’t believe any method blindly.
You should work through the sources, and if necessary, we will help you develop them further. There are all kinds of courses, and we have prepared a great amount of supplementary material in Russian. Most of our friends in different countries around the world are Russian speakers, and they will gladly help and support you.
I am not saying that you should leave everything. You should simply approach the study and attempt to solve the question about the meaning of life wisely. You should discover the picture of creation, of the forces that operate on you, and how you can use them while still in this life, not postponing anything for the next world.

New Life #410 – The Judicial System In Society, Part 2

New Life #410 –  The Judicial System In Society, Part 2
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel
Summary
The accepted form of punishment in Israeli society today no longer works as a deterrent. How can education be a tool for correction in society instead of punishment?
The word “punishment” is incorrect. There should be correction, meaning an educational process to bring a person to function correctly.
How can we do this? We put a criminal into a society that functions on a high level. We show them good examples and teach them. Why do we do that? Because he previously saw examples in his society that were not good and he learned from them. So now we do the opposite. This is something like the strong social influence in rehabilitation groups from drugs or alcohol.
Today, a person who enters prison learns to be a greater criminal. An offender must learn about human nature and corrected relationships every day.
In the future, in “cities of refuge,” good examples will be provided, what is beneficial will be praised, and what is harmful will be denounced. Understandably, it is impossible today to move to this framework. Before that the entire population needs deep education.
Today we need to add Integral Education in all prisons. We have seen amazing results with this.

Eleven Years After Arosa, Part 1

Laitman_004
Comment: In January 2006, in the report at the international forum in Arosa, you warned about the beginning of the global crisis and advised how to avoid it. Today, eleven years later, we should return to this report and look at it from the position of the current state of the world.
From the paper “Crisis and Its Solution” for the Arosa Forum 2006
Evidence of the Crisis
The general global crisis of humanity is obvious—depression, drugs, the breakdown of the family, terrorism, uncontrollable social systems, the threat of the use of nuclear weapons, ecological catastrophes, and so on. For example, according to the data published by the European Council in the “Gruenbuch” (Green Book), Europeans suffer from serious depression that leads to 58,000 suicides a year, and 30% of all citizens of the EU suffer from a mental disorder.
The imminent threat to the existence of humanity is steadily growing as a result of the use of nuclear weapons. According to leading scientists, humanity does not have that much time to prevent this crisis from developing in an undesirable direction—to thermonuclear world war or global ecological catastrophe.
My Response: Eleven years ago, people didn’t want to admit that the crisis had started and they didn’t believe things were so bad. One of the American scientists I met at that time complained that discussion of the global crisis was banned by the guild of scientists.
Today, it is impossible to impose such a ban because the crisis has become apparent and has affected everyone in some way, every family and every country. The situation in Europe where the Arosa forum was held has changed dramatically. The world has advanced further in the recognition of evil. However, the danger is that humanity still doesn’t know where it is.

Advancement Is Only In A Group

laitman_528_01Question: We learn that we must advance through studying n a physical or virtual group. What can I do if I have no desire to engage with a group?
Answer: I cannot imagine how it is possible otherwise. Do you want to wait for the blows of fate until you become wiser?
I can say only one thing: no one wants to come to a group to be corrected. A person simply must decide for themselves the extent to which it is necessary. Close your eyes, bow your head, and begin to dissolve within the group.
Participate in all of the common activities and I assure you that an immense, positive, spiritual force will begin to influence you. After a short time you will feel that participation in a group specifically creates this within you. The positive force will balance the negative force, and then you will be able to exist in the feeling of the upper world.

Yearning For Connection With The Source

Laitman_137Question: If we read a Kabbalistic source and don’t understand anything, will the Light act and influence us anyway? In a case like this, do we advance?
Answer: Yes, you advance anyway, but it is desirable to read parts that are somewhat understandable so that you will have a connection with the source.
Question: Maybe, it is better to make an effort to understand something?
Answer: It is always necessary to make an effort.

Egoism In The Service Of The World

laitman_939_01Baal HaSulam, “Peace in the World”: And it is natural that each and every individual feels himself in the world of the Creator, as a sole ruler, that all the others were created only to ease and improve his life, without him feeling any obligation whatsoever to give anything in return.
And in simple words we shall say, that the nature of each and every person is to exploit the lives of all other people in the world for his own benefit. And all that he gives to another is only out of necessity; and even then there is exploitation of others in it, but it is done cunningly, so that his friend will not notice it and concede willingly.
It is possible that a person doesn’t even feel that he uses another when giving, but it can’t be that we give something selflessly. In any case, it will be with the intention to receive.
The reason for it is that the nature of every branch is close to its root. And because man’s soul extends from the Creator, who is One and Unique, and everything is His, hence, so man, who extends from Him, feels that all the people in the world should be under his own governance and for his own private use. And this is an unbreakable law. …
This law can be called “the law of singularity in man’s heart.” No person escapes it, and each and every one takes his share in that law: the great according to his size, and the small according to his size.
Thus, the above law of singularity in the nature of every person is neither condemned nor praised, as it is a natural reality and has a right to exist like all parts of reality. And there is no hope to eradicate it from the world or even blur its form a little, just as there is no hope to eradicate the entire human species from the face of the earth. Therefore, we will not be lying at all if we said about this law that it is the absolute truth.

It is clear that this is our nature. The important thing is not to hide this law—this “absolute truth” that only our egoism operates in the entire reality—but to use it correctly. After all, egoism is the only material of creation, and if we don’t learn to use it correctly, we will suffer all of our lives.
A person’s entire life, from birth to death, is a fight. How is it possible to enjoy it and reach an eternal and perfect life? For this, we need not destroy our egoism, but to use it properly.
There is no force in the world that can correct our egoism. Therefore, people think that there is no solution. All of the governments, philosophies, nations of the world, and the cleverest presidential advisors can’t recommend any method of correcting human egoism. Competition and using others remains.
Only the wisdom of Kabbalah, by attracting the upper force not inherent to our level, our life in this world, helps us draw force of love and can show us how to properly work with our egoism. It turns out that egoism is very useful because we build the system of connections above it. By rising above our egoism in the form opposite to it, we discover the upper force of nature.
Egoism has an infinite number of forms of egoistic connections between us, and all of them are forms of the upper force of love and bestowal, but in reverse, like a stamp and its imprint. If not for egoism in its various forms, we would have no possibility of revealing the form of the upper force and attaining it. It would have been elusive.
But because we transform hatred into love, we reveal its shape. All of this we can experience this practically if we sit down in a circle and in half an hour through a simple conversation according to the integral methodology, we begin to discover the beautiful results of our connection.
This is despite the fact that people with opposite views, strangers to each other, are gathered in the circle. This demonstrates that, in reality, there is a positive force hidden inside the connection and it is between strangers. If they sit in the circle together and have a conversation according to the integral method, they begin to discover warmth, unity, closeness, mutual understanding, and a willingness to concede to each other.
They see in what form it is possible to connect and fulfill each other and how to help each other in the circle. From the very first attempt, they discover many laws of connection.
Our egoism is an indisputable fact, and everyone thinks in no other way than egoistically. It is also true that there is no other force in our world apart from it. All of the uniqueness of the wisdom of Kabbalah is in the fact that it knows how to extract from nature the second force that is positive and offsets the negative egoistic force to add plus to the minus, which is the force of connection.

New Life #409 – The Judicial System In Society, Part 1

New Life #409 – The Judicial System In Society, Part 1
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel
Summary
What is the role of the judicial system in the education of the people, who is suitable for becoming a judge, and why do people need a legal system to define values of good and evil?
The legal system has to educate people. A judge should explain what is right and what is wrong. A judge who understands the depth of creation must show what the deviations from the laws of nature are.
The legal system comes to complete what the educational system didn’t provide. The legal system must clarify what a person is lacking in order to function as a member of society and to be concerned about its achievements.
In a proper society, there must be a permanent influence from the general social educational system on everyone. For some time every day, every person, from the young to old, must be in the framework of social education.
In the event that someone harms another, everyone must sit and clarify what kind of social neglect occurred.
The role of the judge is to help to lead this social inquiry so the process will be educational.

The Jerusalem Post: “Fake News And The Truth About Human Nature”

In my column in The Jerusalem Post: “Fake News And The Truth About Human Nature”
Depression, violence, substance abuse, alienation and isolation are symptoms of the self-entitlement epidemic. Humanity’s final frontier is not to conquer space, but to conquer the space between us.
Earlier this month, an unsubstantiated BuzzFeed dossier claiming to contain compromising information about the President-elect, Donald Trump, was picked up and treated as real news by CNN. The news had turned out to be false, and in his first news conference in months, Trump grilled the CNN reporter, called his network “fake news,” and prevented him from asking questions. Since November 9, when the stunning results of the US elections came in, there has been a growing buzz around the question of whether or not fake news was used to promote candidates.
Fake news is nothing new. It is an oft-used means to mislead people for financial, political, or other purposes. Governments, political parties, and even public relations professionals often misreport in order to accentuate their side of a debate, or simply fabricate stories just to pull the public to their side. In fact, the news today is so plagued with bias that it can either be fake or misleading, but it is always bent.
The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Code of Ethics states that a journalist must “Never deliberately distort facts or context.” In today’s world of journalism, such a statement could easily count as fake news. When every news outlet clearly states its political position, we can only expect news outlets to deliberately distort facts and context in order to manipulate public discourse and public opinion. The interest of media is to serve their shareholders, not to inform the public.
Here is a classic case of a media outlet using news to manipulate the public’s view. In recent months, terrorists carried out three deadly attacks in a very similar fashion—driving trucks into a crowd of unsuspecting pedestrians. The first attack took place in Nice, France, the second happened in Berlin, Germany, and the third ramming occurred in Jerusalem, Israel. Despite the similarity of events, and despite the fact that in all three incidents there were casualties, and the driver was clearly a terrorist deliberately plowing with his truck through the crowd, BBC News reported the third incident, in Israel, very differently from the first two. Here are the headlines that BBC gave to each of the attacks: France: At least 84 killed by lorry at Bastille Day celebrations. Germany: Lorry kills 12 at Christmas market. Israel: Driver of lorry shot in Jerusalem after allegedly ramming pedestrians, injuring at least 15, Israeli media report.
Remember the SPJ Code of Ethics item that journalists must “never deliberately distort facts or context”? Indeed, how very far we are from the days when we considered the press the “watchdog of democracy.” The only thing they watch today is their shareholders’ interests. Yet, there is a reason for this sad state.
The Ego Is King
We may be eyeing journalists these days, but to be honest, bias is all over the place. Take polls, for instance. We used to put them on a pedestal and regard them as the bastion of objectivity. Following their two flops—to predict the outcomes of the Brexit vote and the US elections—polling companies have lost the public’s trust. Now, even the influential French newspaper, Le Parisien, has decided to abandon opinion polls in the run-up to the general elections, and to “shift focus from ‘horse race’ journalism to on-the-ground reporting.”
Another major issue of trust is with the US Judicial System. Since the president nominates the Supreme Court justices, and Senate must approve them, it means that by definition, the US justice system is politically bent from the top down. If the Supreme Court is subject to the influence of political interests, can we even expect objectivity anywhere in the judicial system?
Wherever you turn, personal, sectarian, financial, or political interests determine the way the country is run. This is true for the United States, as it is true for every single country in the world. Yet, as sad as this is, knowing the truth is the first step toward correction. In Kabbalah, realizing the negativity of human nature and its adverse impact on our world is called, “recognition of evil.”
Indeed, today the ego is king. Sociologists have written about our culture of narcissism since the late 1970s, but since the turn of the century they have begun to think that our selfishness has become an epidemic. Spiraling depression, skyrocketing divorce rates, escalating violence, ideological and religious radicalism, an explosion of substance abuse, growing alienation and isolation, escalating political disputes, all these are symptoms of the self-entitlement epidemic that is threatening our well-being and our very existence.
To Correct Human Society, Correct Human Nature
Describing the entire correction process for human society is a bit of a tall order for a newspaper column. I detailed this in several of my books, including Self-Interest vs. Altruism in the Global Era: How society can turn self-interests into mutual benefit, and Completing the Circle: An empirically proven method for finding peace and harmony in life, which also includes examples of practical implementation of the correction process. Yet, I would like to highlight the basic principles for constructing a healthy society.
The Engine of Development
You cannot suppress or crush the ego. Humanity has been trying to do so for centuries, and has failed miserably. Our egos are not stagnant; they are constantly growing, so every defense we erect against them crumbles as soon as more intense egoism appears. The pressure released when such outbursts occur causes violence and disorder throughout society. In fact, the world we see today—where the ego is destroying everything of value on the planet—is precisely the result of our failed attempts at crushing the ego.
Also, the ego is the engine of our development. Humanity’s greatest achievements emerged from man’s egoistic search for fame, fortune, and knowledge. If we crush the ego, we will crush progress.
Humanity’s Final Frontier
The New York Times columnist, Thomas Friedman, said recently in an interview with Tucker Carlson on the Tucker Carlson Tonight show: “Connecting people to people will be a huge job. …I think that the best jobs will be people-to-people jobs. We’re going to see a whole new set of jobs and industries around the heart, around connecting people to people.”
Indeed, humanity’s final frontier is not to conquer space; it is to conquer the space between us. In this perilous time, humanity’s single most important task is to rise above the ego and unite. This may sound utopian or unrealistic, but it is feasible if we employ the right approach and use the right means.
Almost 4,000 years ago, Abraham the Patriarch discovered that life exists on the balance between giving and receiving. As is today, Abraham’s society in Babylon was shattered by alienation and by aspirations for human achievement. The ancient Hebrews came from multiple tribes and nationalities. Escaping the alienation in their own tribes, they flocked to Abraham, who taught them how to love one another, the trait that eventually made us into a nation. Today, after two millennia of abandonment of this most valuable asset, we must not only return to our roots and restore our unity, but also share the method for achieving it with the rest of the tormented world.
Abraham and his descendants developed a connection method that enabled their disciples to transcend the egoism that stood between them and bridge it with love. The higher the threshold of egoism became, the higher the bridge they built above it. The book, Likutey Etzot (Assorted Counsels), writes, “The essence of peace is to connect two opposites. Hence, do not be alarmed if you see a person whose view is the complete opposite of yours and you think that you will never be able to make peace with him. Also, when you see two people who are completely opposite to each other, do not say that it is impossible to make peace between them. On the contrary, the essence of peace is to try to make peace between two opposites.” King Solomon aptly summarized this approach in his proverb (Prov 10:12): “Hate stirs strife, and love covers all crimes.”
Until now, we have enshrined receiving and we have totally abandoned the element of giving. We have warped society and made it selfish to the core. Now we must reintroduce the element of giving into our communities, so that the positive force of connection will offset the negative force of separation.
In previous columns, I wrote about Connection Circles and other techniques we can apply in order to install the positive force into society. But before we can employ any of them, we must decide that we no longer want to live in an egoistic world where the press is misreporting, the justice system is politicized, and the economy benefits only the ruling elite while the rest of us are slowly sliding into poverty. Just as physicians need a diagnosis in order to prescribe an effective cure, we need “recognition of evil” in order to start healing our society. This is where we are right now; it is the first step toward recovery.

What Does The Teacher’s Greatness Depend On?

laitman_588_03Question: Why is the teacher’s true greatness always concealed from us?
Answer: Because you cannot see anything.
Take me, for example, your teacher, you can look at me as much as like, but you will not see any greatness in me.
You will only see an old man who very much wants people to begin studying the wisdom of Kabbalah, not from his books but according to the original sources of Baal HaSulam and Rabash. You can take The Book of Zohar and the writings of the ARI, go ahead, but they are much more difficult and distant from us.
I am simply an expert, up to a certain level, of the method of getting closer to the Creator! A methodologist! And this is what I teach you.
The teacher’s greatness, just like the Creator’s greatness, depends on the student. The Creator is revealed to us only according to our feeling of His greatness. Why is He concealed? Because you don’t think highly of Him.
It is the same with the teacher, to the same degree. How do you know your teacher? You don’t know him. Therefore, everything depends on his greatness in your eyes. Only on that!

Another One Of Trump’s Bombs

laitman_220In the News (Bloomberg News): “President-elect Donald Trump’s fiery stance on drug prices is putting pressure on pharmaceutical companies that may be designed to bring their support for his planned overhaul of the nation’s health-care system.
“Hours after Trump upended pharmaceutical stocks Wednesday with a pledge to force drugmakers to bid for government business, the U.S. Senate narrowly rejected a proposal to allow importation of cheaper prescription drugs from Canada. …
“Trump’s remarks may have had the effect of bringing pharma companies to the table in repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, which the president-elect has made a priority.”
My Comment: We cannot even imagine the meaning of such an announcement because the budget for health care and the amount of money spent on medication for the population equals the defense budget.
Pharmaceuticals are a very profitable business; a lot of money is spent and a lot is burned. A medicine that costs ten cents, for example, is sold for a thousand dollars. If Trump lowers the price of these medicines, which means that the pharmaceutical manufacturers will receive only what they deserve, not 500 or 5,000 times more than the cost of to produce it.
Trump is a bold man. He has undoubtedly been given a very important role. He is the embodiment of humanity’s shift to a new road, to a new goal, to a new path of development, and at least through him the upper force will be heard.
I don’t want to praise him to such a level, since he is merely a puppet on a string, but a chosen puppet. Compared to the one who was elected before him, he embodies a totally different representation of the Creator. Let’s hope he will succeed.

Hebrew, A Language That Descended From The Light

Laitman_631_3Question: Hebrew is written from right to left, whereas most languages are written from left to right. What is the reason for that?
Answer: In nature everything comes from the source of goodness, from the Creator, from the Light that descends from Him, from the right line. Therefore, this is the attribute of the Hebrew language so this is how it is used.
Other languages do not stem from the Light but from a desire of egoism, and so they are written from left to right.

Education From Infancy

laitman_946Question: From what age is it possible to begin spiritual education?
Answer: It is really from infancy.
Spiritual education is the right attitude of a person toward others and it should be taught from birth or even as education for future parents. When a child grows, it is necessary to put him into an environment that engages with integral education, first in kindergarten, then at school, and so on. As soon as he learns to sit, put him in a circle with other children.
Even if they still don’t understand each other, don’t relate to each other, and each one is involved with their own toys, it doesn’t matter. Subconsciously the child feels that he is in a society.
Integral education is widely practiced in our community. Even before they can walk, our children already attend special children’s groups where parents learn with them. And that is how it is until school age when they can participate in lessons and shared meals.
Then at the age of 14 to 15, they go to university (we prepare them for this), and by the age of 18-19 they already have college degrees. Each and every year dozens of children and youth pass through our method of education.

What Was The Talmud Written For?

laitman_527_07Question: What was written in the Talmud if there is the commandment in the Torah: “thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it” (Deuteronomy 13:1)?
Answer: The commentary to the Pentateuch (Torah) is not meant to be an addition to what was written. It is simply impossible to understand the Torah if we read it without explanations. If we didn’t have the Talmud, we could not understand anything about the interactions between the different parts of nature. The Talmud explains the interactions between people on the levels of the still, vegetative, animate, and speaking. It describes this with different images from our world, but it is actually speaking only about a person’s inner world of a person.

In This Contrived And Illusory World…

Laitman_022Question: The Big Bang and the big black hole that the entire universe revolves around perfectly complement each other and are the embodiment of the law of the conservation of energy. Infinity, gravity, and entropy are in constant balance, and thanks to the flow of energy from one form to another, an infinite number of universes appear.
The cosmic microwave background radiation reminds us of a gene, a Reshimo, which contains all of the information of all of the states of the universes. This history will never end because the energy does not disappear. A series of infinite explosions and compressions will continue to occur, and therefore, will follow the development of the desire from the inanimate level to the level of the speaking.
This makes sense since everything was created in resemblance to spirituality, which is eternal. It turns out that the Creator created the created being, but from a slightly different quality because he contains all of the previous information inside him.
We can consider it to be infinite abundance or infinite darkness, but does that mean that this entire game was created as a goal in itself (to sustain life itself), and when will this end?
Answer: When we ascend above the ego, we ascend above time, motion, and space, and we realize that we have existed in a contrived and illusory world.

Revival Of The Dead

Laitman_632_1Question: What is the “revival of the dead” according to the wisdom of Kabbalah?
Answer: In Kabbalah, the revival of the dead means the revival of dead desires. Desires are called dead if they are egoistic and alive if they are altruistic, i.e., are working with an intention for the sake of bestowal. When lifeless, dead, egoistic desires become living, altruistic desires, this is called the revival of the dead.

The Forces Are What Operate And Not The Sounds

laitman_934Question: The language of the Light of Torah penetrates through all the worlds. Does the language of people only create vibration in this world?
Answer: Certainly. You can shout, curse, sing nice songs, or pray, do anything that you want. There is no significance to this; nothing influences the Creator.
You can be heard only when your desires are selflessly directed toward good through your friends‘ “spiritual weapons” directly to the Creator.
This is a language of sensations, a language of friendship, connection, love, and unity. It is not even necessary to clothe it in words and express it; it operates even this way. After all, the forces are what operate, not sound waves.

What Does The Future Hold For Israel?

Laitman_414In the News (Ynet): “According to a report by Credit Suisse, 17,000 Israelis became millionaires in 2016 alone, an increase of 19% from 2015; However, while the average Israeli’s wealth has doubled since 2000, income inequality has steadily risen.
“According to a report published by Credit Suisse, approximately 2% of Israelis have holdings in excess of $1 million, while 32% total between $100,000-$1,000,000, 42.5% between $10,000-$100,000 and 23.5% under $10,000. …
“According to the report, in the last 16 years, the average Israeli citizen’s wealth has doubled from $92,589 to $176,263. The median wealth of an Israeli citizen stood at only $54,384—about a third of the average wealth.
“The Gini Index, which measures income inequality in countries, measured Israel at 77.2%. The index is measured on a scale of 0-100, with 0 representing perfect equality and 100 representing perfect inequality.”
My Comment: This is true and there is a vacuum in the middle. This is a global trend, which will continue until the world transitions to fascism or communism.
Question: What will happen to the Israeli millionaires or billionaires then?
Answer: They will immigrate to other countries and live there. Only the poor and the idealists will remain here. But I don’t know how long they will be able to exist here if we don’t pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and establish the correct Kabbalistic society in which everyone lives thanks to the force of goodness that dwells among us. If this doesn’t happen, the whole world will advance toward a terrible world war.
Question: Do you call the new society “Israel.”
Answer: I call it “Israel” because of the yearning of Jews to unite according to their natural Kabbalistic method, which is the only way they can become a nation. The role of this nation is to show the whole world how to unite, something that humanity lacks.
Question: Are you sure that only such people will remain in Israel?
Answer: Yes, I am sure. Only Kabbalists will remain in Israel and will fight to the end because it is actually in this state that the point of connection between our world and the upper world is. All the others will escape if we don’t manage to establish the spiritual basis in time, the spiritual basis that will draw Jews and non-Jews, most importantly those who have the point in the heart and understand that this is the future of humanity.

New Life #335 – Conflict Resolution In The Workplace, Part 1

New Life #335 – Conflict Resolution In The Workplace, Part 1
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe
Summary
What causes anger and conflicts in the workplace, what is the right way to resolve these situations, and what techniques help us build relationships of connection and cooperation between us?
Case: Employees are required to perform a task beneath their level due to the absence of another employee.
  • Everyone could sit together with the boss in a circle and talk about the situation and find the solution together.
  • The wisdom of connection can develop the feeling of acting together, in support and mutual responsibility.
  • The connection between people means that they feel a mutual responsibility for everything that happens at the workplace.
  • We live to feel good, joy, and happiness. Arguments and stress damage our health.
  • We should try to build a society where the feeling of thoughtfulness, concern, and connection exist between everyone.
  • Don’t relate to conflicts that exist in the organization, but raise people to a higher level.
  • All problems, ultimately come from the ego, arrogance and control. Thus connection solves everything.
  • Do not talk about problems, but about relationships that aren’t connected to work, like partners and family.
  • The aim is to soften the tension, to get everyone to agree to a shared feeling of warmth.

Do Not Dwell On The Past

Laitman_037Question: Since the dawn of history, humanity has laid ideological, economic, and political conflicts in many varieties and colors.
How can the masses of people relate to each other positively, above the conflict of religions, economies, historical revenge, rejection, and hatred?
Answer: All of the negative baggage from the past of humanity means nothing. What does it matter what we were and how we related to each other? After all, these came from Above! Neither I nor you are “guilty.” Nature caused us to collide like this! Could we have escaped from this? What was, was, and everything that directed us toward this was from Above.
There is no room for self-flagellation! We were moved through these states so that we would feel and recognize evil! The Creator is the one who created evil, “I created the evil inclination” (Kiddushin 30b)! So now our task is to balance this evil with the good force!
So it is not necessary to dwell on the past. It was good that the past was revealed as negative, for that is specifically what pushed us to discover the positive force.

There Are Many Ways To The Creator…

laitman_628_2Question: You once said that there are many ways to the Creator. What does that mean?
Answer: It says in the Torah that there are twelve tribes and that each tribe has its own way of getting closer to others.
Every person, man or woman, has his own way of getting closer to others.
A person is a small world, which, in fact, includes everything that exists in the world. This is why we have to value every attribute a person has, to keep them, not cut them off, not kill them, not force them to be given up, but only to look for a way of using every attribute a person has correctly.
