Forum in Davos: Unprecedented Optimism

Unprecedented optimism reigns in the World Economic Forum in Davos.International business and political leaders predict global economic growth and do not foresee any serious dangers in 2018. This year’s theme is “Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World.”
We can understand the participants’ optimism. They are celebrating on their streets: last year about 82% of the created wealth went to the wealthiest 1% of people on the planet. As they suck more out of the world and the economy keeps growing, benefiting themselves while the real standard of living for the majority gradually declines.
In essence, the elites discuss how to disconnect and divide the world. This is how they see their common future. Their heralds promise that enough crumbs will be left for the rest of the people, but in fact, we see this is not happening. On the contrary, the fragmented world suits them: they unite and become stronger and wealthier.
What can you do? Egoism is unable to share what it has laid its hands on. As a result, the gathering of egoists only aggravates the situation.
They are not to blame; they cannot act in any other way. It is human nature at work. If we don’t want it to lead us down a thorny path, we must correct the egoism in ourselves and in everyone. Otherwise, it will destroy us.

Student and Teacher: Connection Through The Worlds

laitman_919Question: Does a student remain connected with his teacher after the teacher’s death?
Answer: The connection remains. If the student is on the level of attainment, he understands and maintains this connection. Depending on the level that he is on, there is virtually no difference whether the teacher is physically next to him or not.
But if it is a regular teacher, like a physicist or a mathematician, there is no connection whatsoever. And here, however, the connection continues and is not diminished by the teacher’s death. On the contrary, it grows even stronger and more purposeful, pure, clear, and bright.

Easy Death

laitman_561Question: How do you feel about euthanasia? There is a new invention: a machine that allows terminally ill patients to die completely painlessly and in just a few seconds. And the person can be buried right away, right in this machine. How do you feel about such an exit from life: easy, calm, without fear?
Answer: In principle, I cannot say anything. It is a personal decision. Death is always painful, always unpleasant. Today, many people take advantage of a variety of options to move on to the next world painlessly. But this is just one point of view.
From another point view, Baal HaSulam used to say that, if possible, it is worth trying not to avoid this pain. It’s difficult to talk like this, but I have to tell people this because this pain is anti-egoistic. It cleanses a person.
We need to make sure that an individual has already crossed over into a different life before he leaves this one. Then, parting with this life will not be painful for him—he has left and that’s it.
Let’s hope that we are now approaching a time when humanity is capable of discovering this possibility for itself, then it will be a simple, calm transition from one life to another.
In principle, euthanasia is not necessary. If I already feel the next state, then I can just allow my body to die. I observe its death from afar and this isn’t painful for me in any way. It isn’t frightening or sad. I am already living within my next body—my spiritual body, the body of the soul.

New Life #927 – The State Of Israel And The Jews In The World

New Life #927 – The State Of Israel And The Jews In The World
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel
Summary
True connection is a connection above factions, conflicts, and contradictions, through building love above hatred.
According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, a “developed Jew” is anyone who asks about and tries to discover the essence and meaning of life. These Jews are obligated to advance the world toward correction through the principle “Love your friend as yourself.” Although anti-Semitism pertains to Jews of the Diaspora as well as Jews living in Israel today, a time will come when the Jews in the Diaspora will marry gentiles and will disappear altogether. In the future, suffering and blows will push the Jews toward connection so as to bring the entire world together in recognition of the higher power.

Breaking Israel News: “Kabbalist: I’m Bringing The Biggest Gift Ever To The Israel 70-Year Anniversary Party”

The largest portal Breaking Israel News published my new article “Kabbalist: I’m Bringing the Biggest Gift Ever to the Israel 70-Year Anniversary Party.“:

“For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his treasured possession.” – Deuteronomy 14:2
As Israel gears up for a massive 70th-anniversary party this Independence Day, I hope it will be ready to receive the greatest gift ever.
70 years is indeed a special period. It marks a person’s average lifespan—a period when we need to reflect on what we have accomplished in our lives. Likewise, the time has come for us to reflect on what we have accomplished as a nation:
Did we progress toward a tangible, unified goal?
Do our achievements in high tech, science, medicine, and defense truly benefit others?
Granted, any nation that has achieved the likes of what we’ve achieved with the means that we have had over the last 70 years would be very satisfied with itself.
However, the question remains: should we be measuring ourselves with the same sets of values as other nations?
We, the people of Israel, are unique. Whether it’s the Torah describing our uniqueness as a “chosen people” (Deuteronomy 14:2) and as a people who “bring Light to the world” (Midrash Rabba, Song of Songs, Portion no. 4), or the nations of the world pointing it out with increasingly intense anti-Semitic pressure, we are shown that we cannot simply rest on our laurels. On the contrary, we need to be alert to the fact that because of our uniqueness, we are held to a higher standard.
Our history, both inside and outside the boundaries of the State of Israel, is tainted with genocide, war, exile, and anti-Semitism. Even today, a UN vote on the existence of the State of Israel could very probably eliminate the State of Israel just as quickly as it was admitted in 70 years ago.
Therefore, we need to explore our ideology, our Torah, our history, our destiny, the attitude toward us from all the nations, and then examine whether we are making the right introspection in this special year.
Why don’t the same sets of values apply to Israel as they do to other nations?
While Israel continues to seek global recognition for its progress in high tech, science, medicine and agriculture, Israel stands for a completely different set of values. Therefore, no matter how much Israel exports cutting-edge technology to the world, the world’s stance toward Israel just becomes all the more bitter and harsh.
The Jewish nation was established in ancient Babylon by Abraham the Patriarch. Abraham united the people in Babylon who came to him to join the first ever “unity above differences” movement. People who refused to simply flow with the decadent Babylonian zeitgeist, and who saw the truth in Abraham’s call to “love your friend as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18) gathered around him. Abraham united that first group of people called them “Israel” (Yashar El) (Drush, Ramchal), and guided them to the land of Israel, the land of Canaan.
The unique vision of that group was their willingness to unite based simply on common brotherly love. It was very difficult because each individual’s ego was burning with its demands. Nonetheless, they put in efforts to unite according to the tenet, “love will cover all crimes.” (Proverbs 10:12)
The method Abraham taught is called “the wisdom of Kabbalah.” This is a method that guides people through a process of uniting above differences. Once unity is implemented in one group, it can then spread wider and wider until it reaches humanity as a whole.
However, after we returned to the land of Israel, we failed to accept the unifying principle of “love your friend as yourself” as the essential method we needed to continually sustain and grow, that this unifying principle is what identifies us as the people of Israel in the land of Israel. We left it, and it disappeared over the generations.
In our times, when the social division is rampant and unity is needed more than ever, we don’t know how to show the world the method of uniting above our differences, the method that can fix not only ours but humanity’s problems.
Why does the world hold a growing grudge against Israel?
Since unity is a growing need, and our identity is based on being given the method to implement and pass on unity, then by not fulfilling this function for humanity, we attract a negative attitude from the world.
Subconsciously, the nations of the world feel that we hold a special key for success, which we are withholding from them. On face value, it might be seen as a disproportionate power in finance, politics, business and the media, but the deeper root of these feelings, which both Israel and the nations of the world cannot yet point directly to, is that we’re expected to bring the method of correction to the world. Therefore, anti-Semitism will only continue compounding until we do.
So, where’s the biggest gift ever for Israel’s 70th-anniversary party?
Along with the celebration, we can add awareness of our true identity, our purpose, and role in the world. We can concentrate on what is needed in order to make progress in our ability to unite in the future, thereby adding unity to all the progress we’ve made up until today.
The wisdom of Kabbalah, a method for uniting people and nations, is really the biggest gift we can give to the Israeli people on its 70th anniversary, as it holds the solutions for literally all the problems we’re experiencing: solutions to unite above our internal political, religious, and social divisions; solutions to our complicated security situation and relationships with other countries and peoples; and all the way to solving our domestic and personal problems.
Moreover, by uniting, the nations of the world would stop feeling that we are withholding something from them.
They would start feeling an upgrade in consciousness, a positive change in their lives and the tendency toward anti-Semitism would invert: we would be treated with reverence as we would be felt as the conduit of the good that fills people’s lives.
The gift is the wholeness, abundance and boundless fulfillment we can feel when the light of unity enters our lives. And the means to receive this gift is to cover all of our differences, divisions, and conflicts under a common umbrella of love.
My organization, the Bnei Baruch Kabbalah Education & Research Institute (Kabbalah L’Am in Israel), will also be conducting its own celebration of Israel’s 70-year anniversary with the World Kabbalah Convention on February 20-22, 2018. The convention will be a celebration of unity above differences, with over 7,000 people attending from over 50 countries in the Tel Aviv Convention Center. I warmly invite anyone who wishes to experience the true essence of Israel’s identity, culture, and uniqueness to join us. Anyone who feels even the tiniest curiosity or attraction to the wisdom of Kabbalah or unity as a solution to any problem is welcome to attend.

The Building Blocks Of Light And Darkness

Laitman_032.02It is an art to be able to handle the revelation of darkness as it gets stronger and stronger. From experience, a person understands that darkness comes only in order to point him in the correct direction.
He loves the darkness, appreciates it, and tries to experience it in perfection. The darkness is only felt in his egoism, while he is above it and can build the force of bestowal above the darkness, revealing the Light in it.
It is a multi-layered state, like a sandwich. The darkness is revealed at the bottom. Then comes the right attitude to it—understanding that it is here to help you, that it is the revelation of a new degree—and then you have to rise above it.
At first, I get scared (“You hid Your face, and I got frightened”) and try to flee the danger and evil that is revealed in the darkness. But then I stop myself, realizing that the darkness is here to help me and that I should not curse it. Just the opposite, it draws me closer to the Creator, like a frightened child who clings to his mother more tightly. The same is true for me! Therefore, I see that the darkness is help from above.
I love this darkness and even want to intensify it, to draw it closer. I begin to work with it intentionally, actively, with full understanding. My life becomes constructive: Light and darkness become the two forces, the two lines, which let me progress. That is how I turn darkness into help. I await the darkness, searching for more ways to cling to the Creator.
At first, I still fear darkness because it brings unpleasant feelings with it: fears, disturbances, uncertainty. But gradually, I begin to understand how helpful the darkness is because the advantage of the Light is known only from darkness. So, Light and darkness become my building blocks.
The darkness becomes even more important than the Light because specifically out of the darkness I can reveal just how much I want to give pleasure to the Creator. My desire for pleasure is not inspired by darkness, while the desire to bestow is very much inspired by it. Therefore, the Adam (human) inside me rejoices in the darkness and turns it into Light.
Light does not come to a person. The person changes inside and therefore transforms his opinion on what Light and darkness are. That is how he gradually reveals that creation always existed in a perfect state and that he is the one who is always changing, understanding more and more that there is no evil in the king’s palace and no darkness.

Nature Will Not Leave Anyone Behind

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: If a person does not have a point in the heart and does not require a conscious movement to his source, what is the matter with his calming himself with drugs? He isn’t able to do anything anyway and he is completely dependent on those with a point in the heart.
Answer: I do not think that you are right. We are all inside a huge mechanism like its gears or cogwheels. Therefore, there is no one, no matter what he is, who does not rotate with everyone.
Let’s say a lonely fisherman is sitting on a small island in the Pacific, making his living fishing. But if a typhoon or a tsunami comes, then he will no longer have fish or this island. Nature will not leave anyone behind, indifferent, out of work.
Everyone will have to understand what is at the end of the days of this egoistic world that needs a serious “reset.” There will be no one left who does not understand this.
Who would have thought 10 to 15 years ago that America would be in such a regressive state and that the oil and gas Russia lives on would gradually disappear? No one.
In general, our not very reliable system of mutual unity of peoples and countries and their inability to properly interact with each other will be exposed.
This is the main problem; in the global world, egoism separates us and does not allow us to conduct business as usual.

New Life #926 – Israel And The Jews Of The Diaspora

New Life #926 – Israel And The Jews Of The Diaspora
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel
Summary
The meaning of the expression, “a light unto the nations” (Isaiah 49:6) is that the people of Israel need to provide the whole world with an example of connectionabove all differences. The Jews of the Diaspora are not receiving this example from the nation of Israel and they, therefore, don’t see it as a refuge. In fact, because the nation of Israel is hated in the world, the Jews of the Diaspora also distance themselves from it and are leading the line against it.

The White Spot On The Map Of The Universe

laitman_942Our entire work is to find out where we have freedom of will and how to use it correctly. Everything comes from the Creator: the Light, the desire to bestow, and the desire to receive pleasure. But where do we find something that depends on us when the Light and the desire contact and interact with one another?
Did the Creator intentionally leave this area free, the middle third of the Sefira Tifferet, where independence was given to us? Or does He only pretend and quietly look after us like we are little children thinking that we are left home alone?
Freedom of will is realized only in the group, in the ten. This is where the Creator is revealed. The point of contact between me, the group, and the Creator is where I reveal this free area in the desire, in the thought, and in the action: the white spot, terra incognita, the unknown land.
[220207]
From the 3rd part of the Daily Kabbalah Lesson 1/14/18, “The Creator Desires to be Revealed,” (Preparation for Convention 2018)

To Reveal The Perfect Reality

laitman_744The Creator initially made the creation perfect because there are no restrictions in time, place, and the performance of any conditions for the upper force.
But with respect to us there is a concealment so that we can attain, reveal, study, and imagine these conditions, the law “There is none else besides Him, the good that does good,” that is, absolute perfection, and become like Him.
Therefore, until we reach the end of correction, all this reality is only represented in our sense organs. And beyond us, there is only the world of infinity where the beginning of creation and its end are not divided. The Creator doesn’t need any means, actions, or intermediate states between the thought and its realization.
We should always envisage ourselves relative to a perfect state although we fail to reveal it, envision it correctly, or even imagine it.
But we must constantly remember that we are always positioned against perfection, each time discovering its shortcomings in small parts to the extent that we are able to resist it and get closer to perfection.
Therefore, any state is welcome. We need to bless it and learn how to properly resist it according to spiritual and material laws, which are also established by the will of the upper force. Therefore, by fulfilling them, we can correct ourselves until at the end of each given state we decide that “there is none else besides Him.” From this one concludes how one should treat all troubles: from health, to external, social, family problems, trying to relate everything to “there is none else besides Him” and in a general way, correct one’s attitude. After all, everything depends only on our attitude: the way we look at reality is the way it appears.

How To Change The Evil Ruler To Good

laitman_206In today’s world (i.e., in what seems in our sensations as an external reality), our egoism—the qualities opposite to the Creator—rules. To the extent we correct our desire in the direction of bestowal, we will see and agree that the world is ruled not by egoism, not by Pharaoh, but by the Creator.
Everything depends only on us: we change the evil ruler into good. All our work is to reveal the governance of bestowal and love instead of the governance of egoism. This depends on the person because the entire world is a reflection of one’s desires, as it is written, “Everyone judges according to his own flaws.”
A person’s task is to correct his desire so that it does not prevent the Creator from filling it in the same way He fills all the rest of reality. For this, I should not feel myself as separate from the Creator. It is a matter of our perception of reality, which we must correct in order to feel that “The whole earth (desire) is full of His glory,” meaning that the Creator reveals Himself in all of a person’s desires.
Our uncorrected desires that are opposite in form to the Creator are revealed within us, and we need to try to replace them with the principle “There is none else besides Him.”
A person is not capable of doing this alone. He can only imagine it. If he wants to really achieve correction, then his desire should become similar to the Creator, to the qualities of bestowal and love. Therefore, we need to work together with others so that the Creator will rule in the common desire.
This is how, over and over again, we correct more and more of the uncorrected desire that is revealed from the shattering. Through connection with friends, we achieve connection with the Creator and thus correct reality until we see that all of it is filled with only one force and “The whole earth is full of His glory.”

New Life #925 – Inner Solitude

New Life #925 – Inner Solitude
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel
Summary
Spiritual development requires introspection. While solitude can mean being alone with oneself to reflect, it can also refer to the idea of exiting oneself and thinking of someone else. In order to develop spiritually, we need to annul ourselves and connectwith others. In this way, we become similar to the Creator.

Creating A New World

laitman_936Question: In the developing society that is beginning to understand nature, will there be “a mother’s voice” warning about dangers?
Answer: Our inner voice will sound in us because we will feel everything through our connection.
This is not intuition, but attainment and revelation because we build a system between us that is similar to the governing force, and therefore, we reveal it within our system to such an extent that we come into contact with it.
This contact is mutual and constantly progressing. We see, feel, and understand everything we need. It is our mother, teacher, nanny—our everything. Through our system of connection, we influence the upper force that governs the universe and manifests itself in the connection between us.
Here we enter into completely different relationships: more real, more mature, and more internal. We begin to study the laws of commutation, the laws of behavior, and the laws of connection.
This is the most fascinating work because a person begins to create a totally new world. Moreover, he controls himself and society in alliance with the upper force until all of humanity comes to such a state.

Gain A New Vision

laitman_237Question: How does a Kabbalist use the sixth sense organ to analyze his actions and desires?
Answer: When the upper Light reveals the property of bestowal (Bina) in you, which did not exist in you before, and you become a giving, understanding person who sees everything in reflected Light, then you gain a completely different vision. You simultaneously gain a new dimension over our earthly one, and everything becomes clear.

Why Kabbalah Is a Mystery To Us

laitman_219.01Baal HaSulam, in the “Introduction to The Study of Ten Sefirot” writes: “All the written and printed books are necessarily considered the Taamim of the Torah,” … “And there is no greater disclosure than writing a book.” “The part called ‘secrets of the Torah,’…you will not find even a trace of them in all the books of Kabbalah, in writing and in print.”
And this is really so. In fact, there are no secrets. They are mysteries to us because they relate to such levels of attainment our minds have no grasp of.
This is not the coordinate system, level, or the matrix dimension that we exist in today. So don’t be afraid of any problems. We have a lot of spiritual ascent ahead of us in order to enter such states where we begin to unfold the so-called mysteries.
They are attained by a spiritual mind, not the current one that can only add, subtract, multiply, and divide. A spiritual mind is a state that has no space, time, or movement. A mind that serves egoism is not suited for it.
Here you need a mind that works on the quality of bestowal—outside of yourself. We cannot imagine such a state. It is not a supercomputer but simply states unattainable for our current perception.
Remark: Baal HaSulam writes in the “Introduction to The Book of Zohar” that if we unite, heed the inner part of the Torah, than everything will be good; if not, it will be bad. He writes about the possibilities of third and fourth world wars. Actually, most of the journalists today are already writing about it too.
My Comment: What can we do? We have reached the end of the road. We have been speaking about it for many years, and today everyone is starting to agree.
Remark: It follows that if we progress naturally, it will be bad, but if we study Kabbalah, everything will be fine.
My Comment: No, it is not just studying it—implementing it. There is a big difference. I can open a book, lie on the couch, and wait for world peace. No! It is necessary to actualize Kabbalah, in our own experience, in our connections with everyone.
[218883]

Transmission Of Spiritual Information

laitman_243_01Question: Is it correct to say that the Creator teaches a student through the teacher?
Answer: Of course. It happened this way starting with the first Kabbalist Adam through the series of Kabbalists described in the Torah: Noah and all his sons, who really are not his sons, but his disciples, up to Abraham.
And further, from Abraham through other Kabbalists: Isaac, Jacob, etc., who are called his children and grandchildren. But, in Kabbalah, family relationships mean souls related through the transmission of spiritual information.
When it is written in the Torah that someone has given birth to someone, it refers to spiritual objects (Partzufim) that give birth to each other, multiply, and develop.
Question: So, Issac is not Abraham’s son, but his disciple?
Answer: Of course. He could have had 20 wives and 100 children, but so what? It is the disciples who are described in the Torah.
Question: When it says “Abraham’s family,” what does the term “family” mean?
Answer: It is a spiritual state: Abraham’s desire, called Sarah, from which the soul called Isaac , the left line, was born.

New Life #924 – The Power Of The Desert

New Life #924 – The Power of the Desert
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel
Summary
Everything on earth is a copy of the person’s internality. The internal desert is experienced when our ego cannot be corrected immediately and we must find a way to accept it as it is before we are able to move forward. It is hot and dry in this state. It is said that our forefathers always began their quest for the meaning of life in the Sinai desert, searched for sources of water by, for example, digging wells, and eventually entered the land of Israel.

Separation Is The Source Of All Problems

laitman_559If I try to solve my problems alone through my personal introspection and studies, then I only cause myself harm! In fact, all clarifications and breakages are associated with the fact that all desires were merged together, but became separated.
So we need to act only through our connection. There is no other solution other than our unity. Through unity, we can fix any situation.
Instead of personal scrutiny, we need to engage in our unification, and by doing that, we will solve all problems. If I try to correct my personal unpleasant inner sensation, I only worsen the condition. As it is said, one who asks for himself brings harm to all and to himself.
All states are the result of the revelation of information reminiscences (Reshimot) from the breakage, from the separation of our desires from each other. This gap is the cause of all problems. Now that you are shown where the separation is, you feel it as a problem.
So please correct it by starting to act toward unity. This requires praying for everyone else and connection in the ten with the help of the Light that reforms.
The problem needs to be corrected immediately by transferring it to our unification, which is called executing the commandment. I use disturbances for our connection in the group—meaning that through the group, I find the place of separation between us, and I draw strength, which will help me to achieve correction, connection.
The whole process is called the commandment—that is, the correction of one of the broken Reshimot (the informational record of the separation). This commandment must be fulfilled by correction with the help of the Light that reforms, the force that opens within our unity, in our efforts to unite.

Are We Worthy To Be The Crown Of Creation?

Laitman_709When we investigate nature, we are amazed at its wisdom, integrity, regularity, and infinite depth, which in every cell and atom reveals the interrelationship of all its levels—inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human—which communicate with each other in the universe’s distant corners.
Nature is so great and perfect that we cannot even comprehend it because we are only its small and insignificant work.
But why is it that man should be the crown of creation, the most complex and intelligent? Why, despite our highly developed mind, feelings, and possibilities, are we so bad, imperfect, and frivolous; why do we waste our lives and poison it for others and ourselves? There is some weird contradiction between our high potential and lowly deeds.
Why is man so bad that he enjoys when others feel bad? If we are the most developed beings, shouldn’t we be perfect, the most generous and noble? On the contrary, the more complex the creation, the worse it is.
How can an evil creation come out of a good Creator? It’s a contradiction, especially when we see how much wisdom there is in nature. And man also comes from the same source. Why is his great intelligence and strength accompanied by such evil, egoism, and desire to conquer and trample others? How can it mesh together?

A Win-Win Version Of Life

laitman_283.01Question: What can a person do if after 15 years of studying, he realizes that he was not striving for what Kabbalah teaches?
Answer: What can you do? People get a profession, they study and graduate from universities, and then it turns out that this is not what they wanted.
When a person studies Kabbalah, at least this is recorded in his “account” because he was engaged in the correction of the soul. If he had been studying any other science, theories, or philosophies, he would have received nothing from them. So by studying Kabbalah, he is in a win-win version of his life.

New Life #923 – Lack Of Motivation

New Life #923 – Lack Of Motivation
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz
Summary
A lack of motivation stems from a lack of purpose in life. If a person has an exalted goal, he finds the motivation needed to organize the rest of his life in order to achieve it. Although the younger generation has a desire to attain the essence of life, their parents do not show them a good example of how to get there. They will need to learn the wisdom of Kabbalah, the method for self-realization and fulfillment of the soul.
