Names As Symbols Of Connecting Properties

laitman_557The Torah “Numbers” 10:29 – 10:32: Then Moses said to Hobab the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’s father-in-law, We are traveling to the place about which the Lord said, I will give it to you. Come with us and we will be good to you, for the Lord has spoken of good fortune for Israel. He said to him, I won’t go, for I will go to my land and my birthplace. He said, Please don’t leave us, for because you are familiar with our encampments in the desert and you will be our guide. And if you go with us, then we will bestow on you the good which God grants us.
Comment: Even before the exodus from Egypt, Moshe’s father-in-law Jethro came with his selfish wisdom to his son-in-law and told him how to best organize the people. The same is said about Hobab: “You know encampments in the wilderness.”
Answer: Each time, we bring up new properties out of our selfish desires in order to correct them. They are necessary for our advancement.
Just as Jethro, Hobab the Midianite represents our egoism, which we constantly have to address in order to correct; otherwise we won’t be able to move ahead.
However, it is said that he “returns to his homeland,” meaning that we take from our selfishness only what is necessary, but give it a different name since it already is a different property, the one that is coupled with altruism.
The same property flows from Jethro to Hobab. In fact, the Torah lists not too many basic names of various properties. When moving from level to level the properties mixes together, thus forming transitional “structures” suitable for correction. Therefore, there appear a greater number of names.
The same is observed in the wisdom of Kabbalah. It describes only five Sefirot, five parts and five lights. However, when we disclose them, they produce multiple additional names and definitions.
The “Great Commentary” says: “Jethro was among the children of Israel, Moses’s father-in-law, who after his conversion to Judaism got a new name—Hobab.”
It means that a part of the property named “Jethro” went through correction, and the other part returned to Klipa (impurity, selfishness).
Further, the “Great Commentary” states: “After Jethro heard that the people returned to the land of Israel, he told Moses that he would go back to his homeland in Midian.” Moshe tried to convince him to stay: “The Creator commanded us to love all Gers, but you deserve special love and kindness.”
Any selfish desire that wants to be corrected is called a “Ger.
Ger also refers to anyone, irrespective of one’s origin, who starts to use the wisdom of Kabbalah to reach the level of “love thy neighbor as thyself.”

Tisha B’Av, In A Vise Between Plus And Minus

laitman_558Question: Why is Tisha B’Av (the 9th of Av) considered to be the worst day of the year?
Answer: We are under the management of a system of forces that operates on us and influences us—sometimes in a good and comfortable way, and sometimes in a bad and unpleasant way—to awaken us and make it possible for us to integrate these forces correctly and reach the middle line.
If we balance these forces, we reach a state of absolute good. This is possible! The entire year will be a comfortable temperature of 25 degrees, and everything in life will be good, regarding any topic. The person is ready to balance all of the forces of nature in that he brings everything to balance.
On Tisha B’Av, the forces of judgment act with particularly strong intensity. However, essentially, they are not negative, but aspire to awaken us to reach balance, balancing all of nature.
Question: Are these forces stronger than a person?
Answer: Certainly, these forces are stronger than a person. They force him to carry out what is required of him. The forces of nature work on us and influence us to begin to change. We see what a mess is happening in the world. The world is withdrawing and gradually slipping lower and lower, but this awakens us to action.
Specifically now, there are opportunities to reveal the wisdom of Kabbalah to everyone and show that it makes it possible to arrange our lives, because everything is in our hands. Let’s calm down, look at things rationally, and all of us together will decide how it is up to us to bring our lives into balance.
The forces of judgment only seem to us as bad temporarily, depending on how we are feeling, but essentially there is nothing better than them after all they push us toward correction.
It is possible to reach balance only with the help of the wisdom of Kabbalah. We don’t have the power for it ourselves. We must get an additional, unique power from above, above our nature, the power of bestowal, love and union. This power can balance the positive and negative forces, the plus and the minus.
All technological advancement is built on this. Every engine works because we know how to connect plus and minus correctly so that the positive and negative forces will activate it and require it to do useful work for us.
We exist in nature in which positive and negative forces are operating. However, the entire problem is that, in the middle, we don’t know how to use the plus and minus correctly and transform it into a mechanism that acts on the difference between the potentials in the best way for our benefit.
This is specifically what the wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us: how to use the two opposing forces that exist in nature correctly.
These forces are called the evil inclination and the good inclination, hatred and love. It is not necessary to annihilate anything! If we integrate these two forces correctly and use them correctly, we will get wonderful results.
However, a unique wisdom is required for this, because in normal life we don’t know how to balance plus and minus. We either love or hate, whereas we need to integrate both this and that by using the internal forces of a person, our attitudes, to rise above these two forces, above love and hatred. Then we can manage them and balance all of our lives through them.
Imagine that we do something like this in a family, with the children, at work, with friends, even just in the framework of our small physical world—how much happier would we become. Love and hatred must exist together and balance each other.
There is nothing superfluous in the world. Rather, it is only necessary to balance these forces. This is what the wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us.

Autism: A Sign Of A Transitional Period To A New Reality

laitman_627_2Question: Why has the number of autistic children, living in their closed world, increased by 50 times in the past 30 years?
Answer: I think that this trend will be maintained and grow.
Autistic people are those who already are required to have theperception of the next reality. They can feel a few realities simultaneously, a few levels of humanity.
We are now in a qualitatively new stage of human development. We see that we have lost connection with this world. We cannot be found within it. It frightens us. It is shaken up all the time, and we have lost our previously precise forms of mutual cooperation with it. I consider autistic people to have more of an inclination to perceive the next picture of the world than others.
They are more developed. If we were to take a modern person and compare him with uncivilized people who lived several thousand years ago, he would seem strange also, washing his hands, brushing his teeth, saying hello and goodbye to everyone and so forth.
So, the appearance of such a number of autistic children is a clear sign of a transitional period. We must simply understand from where all this is derived.
It is connected to the general ecological system, but there is no need to search for a cause since the entire system of the world—all of its levels, still, vegetative, animate and human—are moving in parallel, and the fact that the number of autistic children has grown in the past 30 years by 50 times shows that we are going with giant steps toward the next stage of humanity.
I think that we simply need to accept this view, at least as an addition, and from there begin to discern these changes as practical, as imperative for humanity.
In other words, it is necessary to consider autism not as a disease that must be healed and not suppress autistic people with the help of drugs and make them into supposedly normal people. On the contrary, we must study them, use their characteristics to understand that in them the coming state of humanity is revealed somewhat.

Maintain The Connection!

laitman_527_03Question: You say that, when a person feels bad, he can connect his sensation with the Creator. But in that case, am I simply accusing the Creator for not giving me enough Light for me to feel good?
Answer: First of all, it is not that important whether I am blessing or cursing the Creator, whether I treat Him well or badly. The most important thing is not to interrupt the connection with Him.
Even if the connection is back to back—when I am unhappy with the Creator and constantly contradicting Him, struggling, and in conflict with Him—that is not important. The main thing is not to forget that I have a connection with the Creator.
We must always maintain this connection in all cases and circumstances. I should not be afraid to discover that I am not happy with Him.
Always hold Him before you as the only partner. All others are just images, shadows, not people—everyone, without exception, and they are given to you so that by revealing your attitude to the Creator through them, you will reveal Him.
Question: But how can I come to the quality of bestowal from constant anger toward and accusations against Him?
Answer: You will see how useful this is when you are cursing Him constantly.
The key here is the constancy, the continuity of your contact: from morning to night, without stopping. You present your demands and accusations to Him, you blame and curse Him, but through that you do not attribute any of your actions, thoughts, or desires to any other factor except Him.
If this is the case, then you will reveal the Creator that same day. Reveal Him in practice, without long years of delay. We need a strong concentration, focus, whereby you begin to understand how He governs you, and then you will make out His game, what is called “the dance of the groom with his bride.” From there, we begin to manifest intentions.

The Universe Is A Computer Program

laitman_739Opinion (Jim Elvidge): “The present hypothesis about the structure of the universe says that our entire world is no more than a matrix, a virtual reality, created by an unknown form of intelligence. The universe is a computer program that works on the basis of a digital code.
“Matter is an objective reality that is given to us through our senses. It is clear that through contact with a variety of objects we define them according to our senses at that moment.
“However in fact, most objects are no more than empty space. So an image is only a conditional reality, a matrix that exists only in our consciousness.
“Behind everything that is found in our environment is concealed a particular code that resembles the binary code of a computer program. Perhaps it will become clear that our brain is simply an interface through which we have access to the ‘universal internet.’
“Every object and event is based on an intangible source. What we call ‘reality’ is formed from questions that invite ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ answers, and from the answers themselves. All physical bodies are in fact theoretical information, and the universe requires our participation.
“Thanks to the binary code we can make a choice between two versions of a digital reality, of the matrix – managed by means of consciousness. The universe is revealed as a partnership of something higher with us.
“The universe has a virtual nature; its particles of matter exist in an unclear and unstable form, and their form is determined in a particular situation only in the eyes of the viewer.
“The things that surround us are the digital reality, the matrix. Yet, for example, a pen becomes a pen when you look at it, and together with this, we are ready to identify the object as a pen only according to external signs.
“The function of our brain is to process the information that is later stored in it. So we can also access data stored outside of our brain.
“If our consciousness is a simulation, then death is only a pause in the simulation, and consciousness passes to another simulator. This is the phenomenon of the reincarnation of souls.”
My Comment: In this way, scientific evidence and speculation are gradually bringing humanity closer to the wisdom of Kabbalah.

A Naturalist Of The Upper World

Dr. Michael LaitmanWe are discovering the universal law of nature, Einstein’s dream, who dreamt of connecting mass, energy, and the speed of light into a single formula. That is how we connect desire, Light, and the screen, which balances between desire and Light.
This means that a Kabbalist is a true naturalist who discovers that he is found in an interesting place, which is his world, and simultaneously it is also someone’s home.
By investigating this home, by discovering its laws on the level of the still, vegetative, and animate, he begins to perceive a higher characteristic that hovers in this home, someone who is real, a thought, a deficiency, a desire, and gradually he understands that through investing some effort in his human nature, he can discover the “master of the house” through it, through himself and not through the lifeless laws of the sciences of this world (physics, chemistry, biology, etc.).
So the wisdom of Kabbalah is a science, and a Kabbalist is a scientist. He investigates nature, but on a higher level than humanity has as has been given to man. He investigates nature not on the level of the still, like physics, not on the level of the vegetative and animate like biology and zoology, but on the supra-human level, beyond the entire nature of our world, above egoism.

We Are In The Same Boat

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe boat that Jonah sails on is caught in a storm. The sailors do everything they can in order to save themselves: They throw everything that they don’t need overboard, pray to their god, and of course begin to look for the one who is responsible for the situation.
However, at the same time… Jonah goes to sleep as if everything that is happening around him doesn’t concern him.
It is only later when he has no choice that he confesses that he is running away from a mission he has been given and asks the sailors to throw him overboard.
In other words, Jonah is even ready to die and not fulfill his duty.
But this doesn’t help either. In the sea, a big fish swallows him ,and after spending three days in its stomach, he is forced to agree to accept the mission he has been given.
It is the same today: the world is becoming a global village and it is as if we are all floating in one boat on a stormy sea and the nations of the world, the sailors, blame the one Jew on board, the nation of Israel, for all the crises, wars, terror, afflictions, and disasters in the world.
Just like Jonah, we are still sleeping. We are immersed in the Israeli reality and pride trying to ignore the fact that the nations of the world hate us. We close our eyes in the midst of the stormy Arab Spring when the ever accusing finger of the world is pointed at us, waiting for everything to somehow quiet down by itself.
We did wake up for a moment under the missile attack and felt that we were one united nation, sharing the pain of others as our own. We felt the threads of our common love between us, of our common fate, but now we are sinking into a dream again, and soon we will probably not even remember our last summer’s awakening.
Still, every war and every new wave of anti-Semitism shows us more and more clearly that our fate is inevitable, just like the fate of Jonah who was responsible for the storm. If the sailors tried to save Jonah then, today the sailors on the global boat only wait for the right moment to throw us overboard. We will not even have to ask them to do us this favor…

5775 Years Ago

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe first festival in the coming series of the holidays of Tishrei isRosh HaShanah, the Jewish New Year. It symbolizes the beginning of the awakening of spirituality; it comes up on the same day in which for the first time human beings on the face of the Earth were awakened to a yearning for something higher, of higher value, for something that would give greater value than what the days of the week give.
The name of this person was Adam. And as we understand it, he wondered about the meaning of life. So the first day when such an exceptional desire appeared in Adam and the questions that accompanied it, is indicated on the Jewish calendar as the holiday Rosh HaShanah. As far as it seems, this is the only event in ancient history about which we know precisely when it took place, on the first of Tishrei (September-October) 5775 years ago.
In decisive moments of life we also, like Adam, contemplate something higher; about something that will help us practically, and will not just be reassurances again by political, religious, or any other promises.
It was really not that long ago that our people stood precisely before questions of this kind.
[144504]

A Message From The Past

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe holidays in Israel are much more than just a tradition; they are connected to the present much more than we think.
The holidays of the Jewish people are a dotted line of our destiny, a broken cardiogram of the beating of our common heart. In them lies the symbolism and information that could easily be lost in the impenetrable labyrinths of history or distorted beyond recognition.
Every holiday carries within it a message, not only about our past, but also about our future.

Practical Results Of The Wisdom Of Kabbalah

laitman_214Question: Which practical results does the wisdom of Kabbalah bring to us?
Answer: We are surprised, why in the world does everything “somehow happen not the way we would want”; we don’t understand why our actions constantly cause negative results and reactions.
The wisdom of Kabbalah explains that the reason for all of our failures is that we don’t take the conditions into account, that all of our actions pass through a “block” that is called the “goal of creation.”
Through our actions, or more correctly through our intentions, we send signals to it. And to the same degree that these signals are compatible with the program of creation, they influence us with positive actions. And to the degree of the incompatibility with the goal of creation, they influence us with negative actions (an opposite negative correlation).
As long as we have not absorbed and understood this system of the management of creation, bringing creation to a goal, we receive unexpected and unpleasant events without understanding that this is a reaction to our activities.
The wisdom of Kabbalah reveals the organ that manages this to us, and we learn through working with it, correcting our actions according to its program, and eliminating any unpleasant surprises.

Long Way To The Temple, Part 3

Birth of the Methodology of Connection
Abraham learned from Kabbalists who lived before him, starting with Adam, the first man. Abraham understood that human egoism expands from generation to generation, thus making us even bigger egoists; it detaches and forces us to exploit each other.
This is why we eventually approach a state in which we start using our egoism correctly, i.e., make efforts to rise above it.
Still, we remain complete egoists unable to ascend our egos even though we realize that our selfishness is the reason for all our troubles. Ancient Babylonians suffered a lot from their selfishness; humanity continues to suffer to this today. Our egoism ruins our life.
Abraham’s discovery made him gather a group of disciples who were ready to rise above their egoism that burnt in each of them.
He found many people whom he gathered in a group and who were willing to ascend above their selfishness because they were not complete egoists as our contemporaries. Their egoism was much weaker than ours. Besides, they remembered how good their life was before they started hating each other, i.e., before the erection of the Tower of Babel.
When hard times began, there was nothing left for them but to split and spread around the world. Many of them felt that Abraham really offered them a true solution to their problem, so they joined him and Abraham started teaching them the methodology of unity.
This is how a group who called itself “Isra-El” (meaning “directly to the Creator”) originated. They strived to reveal the upper force that connected them and dwelled among them. While exploring the upper force, they realized what the world they live in is like. The network that we build among us is in fact the upper force.
Later, Abraham’s group grew and formed a nation named “Israel.” Israel are the people who strive for unity and who work on building connection among them above their detachment.
They value the power of separation because it gives them a chance to apply more efforts in their pursuit of unity, thus allowing them to recognize the force of nature—the system of the upper governance.
The force of detachment and the power of unity are two opposite essential forces of nature, like plus and minus, north and south. One cannot exist without the other.

The 12 Tribes Of Israel: The Order Of The Correction

laitman_933The Torah, Numbers 10:13-15: This was the first journey at God’s bidding through Moses. The banner of the camp of Judah’s children traveled first according to their legions. Heading the legion was Nahshon the son of Amminadab. Heading the legion of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethanel the son of Zuar.
The movement of the twelve tribes, one following the other, symbolizes the parts of thegeneral soul that are corrected in a certain order and sequence, starting from Judah.
Question: Why is the camp of Judah the first to be corrected?
Answer: In our days, we all are considered the descendants of the tribe of Judah.
Judah is the senior of all of the twelve tribes. This is the first of the twelve attributes that must undergo correction.

Long Way To The Temple, Part 2

Laitman_115_04Abraham’s Discovery
Ancient Babylon is a special state of humanity that was sandwiched in a very compact territory between two rivers. It was a well-developed civilization that existed about 3,500 years ago.
The Babylonians were so interconnected that they began to feel the rejection of each other, as if the people were good friends while they kept a decent distance, but when in closer proximity immediately began to quarrel. After all, we all are selfish; we can’t stay too close to each other and are compelled to disperse.
Ancient Babylonians discovered the phenomenon called the Tower of Babel. Humanegoism grew like a tower to the heavens, thus separating them to the degree of hatred that arose among them and that prevented them from mutual understanding to the extent that they felt as if they spoke different languages.
They didn’t know what to do in such a critical situation. Then one wise man namedAbraham offered a solution. Abraham was a priest. He manufactured and sold Babylonian idols. Babylonians were pagans and worshiped trees, stones, and so forth. They deified all of the forces of nature.
There were a lot of priests in Babylon, but Abraham was very famous among them because he was a son of Terah, the High Priest, who was a very influential cleric.
Abraham investigated the situation in Babylon and realized that humanity was obliged to attain such a connection in which their state of crisis would be revealed, as shown by their tremendous egoism.
After this phase, there were only two possible paths: either disperse even further or rise above their selfishness. Indeed, the purpose of nature is not to separate people but to raise them above their egoism.
The ascent above egoism leads the human race to a new developmental stage. For that we should combine our powers, desires, thoughts, and abilities. Connection between us opens a network of liaisons that eventually discloses the governing force of nature to us.
Our selfishness is only one negative force of nature. If, despite it, we continue our efforts to unite, we will reveal two opposite systems that must merge with each other: a will to receive and the power of bestowal, hatred and love, rejection and attraction.
If we continue our yet unsuccessful efforts to reconcile these two systems, we suddenly understand that there is some sort of connection between them. The force that integrates these two completely opposite systems and makes them one whole is called the upper force. The discovery was made by Abraham when he revealed the general force of nature.

Long Way To The Temple, Part 1

laitman_742_03The Story Begins With Adam
Question: The ninth of Av (Tisha B’Av) is a special day of mourning. On this day, the destructions of the first and second temples took place, as well as many other tragic events in the history of the Jewish people.
However, nowadays, secular people do not pay much attention to this day. What is the importance of the day, and how does it relate to our lives today?
Answer: I think the reason our contemporaries in Israel don’t know about the ninth of Avis that they do not associate themselves with their history.
Young people think, “Well, once upon a time, there was a temple, but since then, two thousand years have passed. It has nothing to do with my life now. Why should I return again and again to the same story? Other nations do not care about what happened to them thousands of years ago.”
Really, there were many important events in ancient Rome, Greece, and Germany, but people who now live in these countries do not commemorate them. Similarly, the younger generation of Israel does not give any value to the ninth of Av.
Yet, by all means, they would re-evaluate their attitude if they knew that Jewish holidays are not related to historic events. Our history reflects what happens in nature. It is nature that engraves humanity’s advancement on the calendar.
We think that history began 14 billion years ago at the time when the universe emerged, or 4 ½ billion years ago when planet Earth appeared in the solar system. We easily can skip a prehistoric period that preceded the appearance of humanity, such as the Mesozoic or Paleozoic. The history of humanity can be calculated from the appearance of the “first man” Adam.
Adam was not a primeval man who showed up as a result of the evolution of monkeys who came down the trees hundreds of thousands of years ago as archaeological excavations show. The first man Adam lived 5775 years ago. He was the first one who disclosed the system that governs this world.
On one hand, this discovery became possible because of a great desire he had. On the other hand, this discovery was predetermined from above. So Adam revealed the system of the higher governance and began exploring the world. He launched a school of his own and was followed by disciples who later continued his research.
These events are described in the Torah, in Josephus’s (Flavius) writings, and in many other sources. Adam was the first who disclosed the upper governing system called the Creator, the system of the higher power that controls all of nature.
There is no need to visualize this power as divine, spiritual images. It’s just one general superior power that includes a plurality of forces. This power is informative and sensate. It supports all of nature. It is the power of higher governance.
Adam was the first one who disclosed this power. This explains why he is called the First Man. Numerous people lived before him. Many generations elapsed before his birth. He was born of a father and mother like everyone else.
Adam wrote the book, The Angel Raziel (Raziel Hamalaach), which is available nowadays. He had many disciples. The Torah colorfully describes the events that happened to Adam’s students. One of Adam’s disciples, Noah, was saved from the flood on the ark that arrived at Mount Ararat.
Until now, people are looking for the remains of the ark and shoot Hollywood movies about these events. Adam and Noah deserve a good compensation for providing great scenarios for popular movies.
Adam’s discovery was transferred from student to student, from generation to generation. Each of his followers started a school of their own. This is how humanity grew and eventually came to the state of Ancient Babylon.
To be continued.

How Can We Draw The Upper Light?

laitman_530Question: How can we draw the upper light? How do we know it works?
Answer: It is only through our efforts to connect and to unite! If I am in a group of people who have the same intention and the same upper spiritual goal and we try to connect and to unite, we draw the Lightthat Reforms.
We feel to what extent we suddenly change and to what extent we understand the system that is inside us that connects all parts of reality.
We begin to feel that our world is full of new forces and we see how these forces connect to one network, and the plan operates this network. This plan is called the Creator, the upper force that manages our world. We discover the upper leadership and begin to participate in it.

A Spiritual World? It’s Simple!

laitman_933Question: How is the spiritual world revealed?
Answer: Ten people sit together studying and speaking about the connection between them, while each one annuls himself before the others, and thus they unite.
Through this unity, they reach a feeling that the upper world is revealed between them. This is the fulfillment of the wisdom of Kabbalah.
It is so simple and near! It is only thanks to the annulment of our ego, when we ascend above it, that we discover the upper world, the upper system that manages our world. Anyone can discover it!
The wisdom of Kabbalah tells us how to do it in a very simple manner. By using this method, we can reach a state in which we attain this system: how it operates, how it manages us, and how we can respond to it and control our fate.

What Kind Of Life Are We Preparing For Our Grandchildren?

Laitman_001_01Question: People today enjoy an affluent life, and the economy is based on this. A person sets his corporeal development as a goal. He dreams of buying a new car and a new house.
Will a person receive pleasure not from material acquisitions, but from social ties when he reaches the new level of human development?
Answer: A person receives pleasure from attaining the upper force.
A consumerist society will come to a complete dead end, and when despair is felt from this, we will have to explain that there is a solution, but it is a new education and teaching for everyone.
Baal HaSulam said that the major mistake of the Russian revolutionists at the beginning of the last century was that they didn’t act for the Creator’s sake.
This is actually what stood in their way of building the right state.
They didn’t take into account the general system that requires our unity in order to attain an upper spiritual level. They did not set a sublime goal for themselves that would provide a solution for corporeal life and for attainting eternal existence.
There is no solution in our corporeal life. We can only close our eyes and ignore the fact that we are doomed to die as if we didn’t worry about what the future brings. However, it is clear to everyone that man is not eternal.
All of society’s current problems stem from the fact that people have no answer for the meaning of life and what we are living for. This is the reason that terrorist organizations and religious wars are growing stronger, thus bringing the world to the brink of a new world war.
Where does all that stem from, while there is such material affluence in the modern world? The reason is that people don’t understand what they are living for, and so there is such confusion in the world.
However, there is a solution, and the wisdom of Kabbalah offers it to us. It isn’t about the simple correction of the economy in order to provide everyone the products they desire, but actually it gives a person much more.
The economy is only meant for providing what we need in order to exist, but the main goal is to ascend to a higher level.
I don’t want my children to live the same life I live, to grow old and die like me, and for my grandchildren and the future generations to have the same fate too. I want to give them more than this mortal existence!

The Ladder Of Union

laitman_943Question: Is it possible to measure the level of union among the people and according to it to say how far we are from another holocaust?
Answer: According to the degree of connection between us, we can measure our place on the spiritual ladder, which is called Jacob’s Ladder, how we rise from our world in 125 levels, through five worlds until we attain Olam Ein Sof.
In every world, there are five Partzufim, in every Partzuf, there are five Sefirot, and in sum there are 125 levels (5 x 5 x 5). The difference between all of these levels is greater and greater connection and union between us.
This union always is realized in a group of ten (Minyan). If we connect correctly, we nullify ourselves, and then we begin to feel the connection between us, as well as a new spiritual force that is discovered in our connection.
The more we connect, the more each one of us feels how he rises on the ladder of spiritual levels, until reaching its end.

Laitman_120Everything starts with education and information, even including the new economy. But economists want to keep the old method and continue the same life as before without paying attention to changes in people. But you cannot fix the economic crisis like that.
First of all, it is necessary to educate people to prepare them for the new stage of human development, life in a harmonious society in which each one rationally gets what is necessary. We need to agree to sustainable consumption and then the entire society will achieve balance.
Economic development is not in that there are 500 kinds of cheese today, and tomorrow another two hundred will be added. Our lives must be rational, and rational consumption means that we don’t need anything that is superfluous, and we want to examine ourselves, the society, our families and all of our lives from the point of view of maximum benefit.
But this does not mean that it is necessary to extract all of the nature’s resources and obligate a person to work many hours per day until old age ruining his entire life.
A person needs spare time and time for educating his or her children. Small children shouldn’t be thrown into child care from seven in the morning until seven in the evening without seeing their parents, and when the parents take them home in the evening, they no longer have the energy or time to be with them.
Question: But people don’t feel miserable. Statistical surveys show that most people are satisfied with their lives.
Answer: People haven’t learned anything else and are unfamiliar with any other life. They are confused. People live the way that they are taught, and they get nice, statistical graphs. However, this is talking about the essence of life.
The world is entering a crisis that will bring absolute disorder, and the economists cannot continue to work by the old methods. Just as a hundred years ago, people worked ten to twelve hours per day, they do so today as well, even with all the technological advancement.
So, how can the person be happy with a life like this? In the past, he just worked with machines in factories and now he works with computers, but in principle nothing has changed. He was at work all day and didn’t see the children, but at least his wife didn’t work and stayed at home with the children. But today even women are forced to work all day.
Question: For the modern person, work takes the most important place in life. If we ask a young woman who her husband is, she immediately answers and says his name and his position at work. Each one evaluates himself according to his job and salary.
Answer: This is the result of the influence of the environment on the person, from Hollywood movies, commercials, and all media. A person begins to look at life through glasses like these. We never have educated people. We only give people toys, mobile phones and computers, and we turn them into consumers to help the development of the economy. People only work and buy, work and buy, and in this way they help someone get rich.
Question: But people don’t know what rational consumption is.
Answer: So, first and foremost, we require education and information. Nothing else needs to be changed. Just educate people, and first and foremost, the economists.

What Is A High Priest?

Laitman_043The Torah, “Leviticus” 21:10: “And the Cohen that who is elevated above his brothers, upon whose head the anointment oil has been poured or who has been inaugurated to wear the garments he shall not leave his head unshorn or rend his garments.
The human body (613 parts) embodies his 613 desires. They all must be covered with aMasach (Screen) and Ohr Hozer (Returning Light), symbolized by clothing in our world.
The Sa’arot (hair), from the word “Sa’ar (storm)” is the awakening of the person, his advancement towards a goal. On every level they can be counted in a particular way. ThePeyot (sidelocks), which descend from the sides, represent the Light that descends from the head, drips onto the beard down onto the body.
The priest had a complete wardrobe. Besides the usual clothes, he was dressed in special cloth pants and a sash, a beautifully embroidered shirt with bells on the hems and a hat. Such attire fit the Masach, the characteristic of bestowal, the intention, that should be created above one’s desires.
And he shall not come upon any dead bodies; he shall not defile himself for his father or his mother. (Leviticus 21:11)
“Dead” is a desire that is left without an intention into which the Light cannot enter. And the priest must protect himself and not come in contact with anything that has a negative intention.

Why Is The Wisdom Of Kabbalah Important?

laitman_584_03Question: I still don’t understand why the wisdom of Kabbalah is so important to you.
Answer: If we exist in the closed system of nature, our desires and our thoughts are also part of this system and they influence it. And their influence can be much more important than our physical actions.
Just our physical actions are visible to everyone and so we give them importance because we see their outcomes and can scrutinize and examine them. But the mental and emotional effects we can’t scrutinize and examine. However, our internal influence is studied and used in labs and by intelligence services all over the world.
If all of our thoughts and desires stem from the mind and the heart that are connected directly to the general system of nature, then:
  • What arises in us naturally that is beyond our control can be omitted from our study since it is information about thoughts and feelings that flow through us.
  • Information that we cannot perceive is nothing but control signals that we must know and learn to manage correctly. Thus, we introduce our corrections in nature because otherwise we unconsciously harm the whole system and ourselves by our uncorrected thoughts and feelings.
This is the reason that this information is the most important study for mankind, but we must control and acquire it and teach it to every child and grownup.

The Call Of The Soul For The Promised Land

laitman_740_01The Torah, Ezekiel 36:24: For I will take you from among the nations and gather you from all the countries, and I will bring you to your land.
From a historic perspective, the Jews gathered on their land under the pressure and oppression of the nations of the world.
At the same time, they had to break away from their religion because it called for sitting and expecting the Messiah that would redeem them of their sufferings as the prophet Ezekiel says.
The religious Jews were in no hurry to return to their land from exile while waiting for and expecting the Messiah. Only those who broke away from religion realized that they could build their state only in the land of Israel.
I remember myself as a Zionist. I lived in Russia at the time, and I had a specific goal: to come to Israel and to live there. I should say that Zionism awakened in me the great and deep question about the meaning of life for a while, but when I came here, I began to feel the need for the next level of my development: what for, why, and how.
Thus, the question reappeared and kept troubling me until it became, “What is the meaning of my existence? Now that I am among my people building my state, what’s next?” At the same time, I always have felt I am a Zionist.
The word “Zionist” stems from the word “Zion,” which refers to the place where the spiritual root and its corporeal branch connect. In this place, we must recreate the nation of Israel, which means the group (which also can consist of several million people) that lives according to Abraham’s laws.
Question: We know that there is no time and place in spirituality, and here you suddenly say that Israel is a piece of land that is holy in a certain sense and has certain spiritual attributes.
Answer: Yes, these are attributes that are above time. The connection of the Jewish nation to its land is described in many Kabbalistic writings. This is the reason that we need to return to this land and not to Uganda.
Question: Why do some people feel a very strong attraction to this land and others don’t feel it at all?
Answer: It depends on the root of one’s soul. When I left Russia, in Vienna we were offered the choice of any state we wished to emigrate to. Of a train full of Jews, only two families, mine and another family, went to Israel; all the others dispersed in Europe and in America.
It is an urge that stems from the spiritual root that brings people to Israel. Today, it is revealed in many people, and humanity is beginning to feel that it needs connection and unity.
People don’t understand why they are attracted to it. They feel warmth and that there is something here! And even if having arrived here, they subsequently feel they will feel good in this land.
Question: Are these people descendants of the ten lost tribes?
Answer: No, these are totally different people who are not Jewish by origin but who feel that the idea of unity is close to their hearts, and all of humanity gradually is getting closer to this.
