Preferential Treatment For Discovering The Creator

laitman_214Question: What is the force of creation and the program is created to do what?  Are they preparing us for something hidden behind everything that happens?
Answer: Certainly! We are being prepared for the discovery of theCreator to the creature in this world. The wisdom of Kabbalah was designed for this because every person must discover the Creator. The Creator (Bore) means “Bo Re” (Come and see). That is what we call it since the person comes and finds.
Question: What must one come to see?
Answer: To attainment, to feeling, to opening yourself with the help of two opposing forces, that between them you discover the higher system and the essence of its internal program. And this is called the Creator. This is the truest wisdom (science) and so that is why it is also called the wisdom of Kabbalah. You reach this discovery scientifically, as in every other science.
Question: What must the person do to penetrate into this system, into this “computer”?
Answer: Only realize the recommendations and advice of the Kabbalists: Come and learn, carry out activities that develop the sixth sense with whose help you discover the Creator, the upper world. Exactly as the person feels our world, he will discover an additional reality that manages us, accompanies us, and organizes everything for us.
Question: Can you give me “preferential treatment” to help penetrate into this “computer”?
Answer: This is precisely what we are doing. But you are required to invest a little energy in this: Come and learn, participate in all kinds of activities that open your senses. Then you will begin to feel the same system that activates you through this world. Everything is opened before you.
Question: When we study the wisdom of Kabbalah, do we learn about this system?
Answer: Yes! This is called “Revealing the Creator to His creatures in this world,” revealing the system of higher management to every person found in our world.
Question: Is the wisdom of Kabbalah some kind of philosophical learning?
Answer: No. Philosophy is thinking and reasoning without any real results in our lives. Instead, the wisdom of Kabbalah is a very practical science. It reveals the upper world to a person and teaches him how he can manage his life correctly.

The Last Myth…

Laitman_022In the News (from 9tv.co.il): “Among the volunteers who are ready to go to Jihad in Syria, there are two groups who are prominent (reaching 40%), who have not previously been seen in the background; girls and converts (those who change their religion). What drives them to go there is a distorted perception of humanity.
“The instability in modern marriages, that these girls have witnessed, symbolizes that the ‘eternal’ alliance with the warrior for the faith, unites within her yearnings for a romantic relationship that cannot be destroyed and love that gets religious approval. This makes it possible for them to get rid of the unhealthy friendly relationships between boys and girls in the monotonous world of the West, which is devoid of large-scale violence.
“The military situation, the myth of Islamic purity that ISIS possesses, the heroic image of men, and the honorable role of the mother, this entire world, that is so much unlike their precious corner in which violence has become entertainment, becomes a real magnet for them; at least for a while.”
My Comment: The same people who were also enthusiastic about Russia and Cuba and other nations, and then they all died, without even growing old. Revolutions devour the bodies of the young. The young don’t understand that a revolution must take place in the soul and not in violence towards others, not in violence between bodies, but through efforts to rise above ourselves, above the world. As long as they don’t understand this, they will flow to battlefields that are devoid of all meaning. Ultimately, their energy will be directed against the Jews, of course, because the other true revolution has been hidden by the Jews from themselves, and from them.

Leaving The Magnetic Field Of The Ego

laitman_608_02Question: In preparing for the Passover holiday, what does “go down to the Egypt within me” mean?
Answer: To go down to Egypt means to begin to work with my desire to receive, which is basically my only material that provides me with energy. Using it, I can advance toward exiting this world and rising above the physical world.
This is the only means I have; there is nothing more than this. We are born and develop as animals. However, at some point in our lives, with all of our friends, each one of us feels that something is nipping at his heart and pulling him somewhere out of this life. He wants to know the essence of life, the source of life, where this comes from, and what is happening here on Earth.
However, we have no other substance with which it would be possible to develop this tendency, this question, only with the ego, with our desire to receive.
Leaving-The-Magnetic-Field-Of-The-Ego
If I have my egoism, my desire to receive, and the one point that attracts me somewhere upward, then I can take parts of my egoistic desire and associate them with that point: on levels 0, 1, 2, 3, 4. I associate my desire to receive to that point to the degree that I am ready, and then I can go forward with this point.
I advance through this, constantly using my ego with the help of the environment that always has an influence on me and tells me that it is worthwhile to push my point in the heart toward connection with others.
There are a number of stages in working with my ego. In the beginning, I work with thegroup, with the environment, the lessons, and even though I want to reach bestowal, my intention is to better myself. This stage is called Lo Lishma (Not for Her name).
After that, when I received sufficient influence from the Light that Reforms, I am released from the egoistic intention to use bestowal for my own benefit. Rather, I want to bestow without any consideration of myself. I want to be in pure bestowal and be free of my ego as if I were exiting the magnetic field of the Earth.

My Life Belongs To Pharaoh

Laitman_716_02Question: If all the changes depend only upon the environment that is built by man, what does Pharaoh control?
Answer: Pharaoh is my present heart and mind. I don’t feel that my heart and mind are free of him; it is a great achievement to discover that they are found under the control of Pharaoh.
Pharaoh controls my whole life, everything I had and everything that I have now. Within my body is some kind of evil spirit that fills me entirely, moves me, and determines all of my thoughts, desires, decisions, and deeds.
It is some kind of evil internal force that penetrates into me and has control over me from which I cannot escape. I am filled entirely with this alien, hostile force, and I cannot be released from it. How can I expel it, renounce it from me?
I feel that my entire life belongs to Pharaoh, and there is only one independent point within which I can determine that I am in slavery to Pharaoh, the evil inclination.
Question: I absolutely feel that I am under the control of my mind and emotions!
Answer: If you think that this is your mind and emotions, everything is okay. You are not in Egypt yet; rather, you are like everyone else in this world. You have not discovered yet that there is an alien control that does with you whatever it wants. It is as if they are doing experiments from another planet on all seven billion people and managing us. Yet, we don’t feel this and each one feels that he is free.
However, we are beginning to discover a bit that we are under an alien influence. In the meantime, you still haven’t discovered this. Yet, there are those who already have.
Question: How is Pharaoh’s control over me expressed?
Answer: This alien domination means that I don’t agree with the spirit that dominates me. I don’t agree with its existence in me and want another spirit, a spirit of bestowallove, and giving. Thanks to my participation in studying and dissemination, a change is occurring in me, and I am beginning to appreciate another characteristic that doesn’t exist in me.
In the beginning, I want it because I feel better with it, more whole. Yet, after that, I simply begin to appreciate it. I specifically want to have the characteristic of bestowal that grants me a sensation of freedom, reducing the pressures and limitations of this world. The characteristic of bestowal is so amazing and wonderful!
Yet, gradually, I begin to perceive the characteristic of bestowal as a vision, as a burden on my soul that I dream about and I cannot explain why. This is called “sacred grace.” Apparently, how can one love it if it is completely against this world? Yet, I want to reach bestowal.
Moreover, I begin to look at the desire to receive as something very strange. How is it possible at all to receive for myself and enjoy this? I recognize this characteristic that is found in me and understand that this is simply a program that has been installed in me. I am given a sensation within my system so that I enjoy receiving. Yet, in fact, this is only a program, and it can be replaced so that reception will stop giving me pleasure.
I begin to have a relative attitude toward bestowal and reception when I understand that this is not really me but a program that can be replaced by another.

In The Middle Of A Conflict

laitman_740_01We distinguish between two parts along our spiritual path: the part that advances toward the attribute of love and bestowal, toward the Creator, contact, connection, and adhesion with everyone, and the part that opposes that and constantly wants to take for itself.
When I am between these two states, I must constantly examine and check myself as to whether I am not stealing in corporeality or in spirituality, whether I am doing anything wrong in my mind or my feelings in order to benefit personally from that. This is where the problem is. First, I mustn’t receive any benefit, but even if I do have such benefits, everyone must agree that they are part of my job. Suppose I need a car in order to visit building sites or that I need helpers in my work and some people should be allocated for this job. In that case, everything must be open and clear to everyone, without question.
On the whole we are shown the corrected society that we must build. Every member in the society must receive only what he deserves and needs for his existence, and give everything else to the society. This is called the level of Moses who is an example for all the others.
There are always such problems in a person’s spiritual work, and we can see that throughout history even back in the days of the temple when the people lived on a spiritual level. There always have been serious problems, but they were on a spiritual level even though they are described in a corporeal language.
Question: So here we have to keep in mind that when we are building spirituality, we should not have “pockets.”
Answer: In those times, that was the case on the corporeal level. We usually understand that if someone wants to steal, no one can stop him. However, no one is foolish enough to put a piece of gold in his pocket.
A person should have no desires in order to receive, which means a place where he wants to receive for himself. A Masach (Screen) should be only in order to bestow. It is only about bestowal. This is the level of Moses.
It seems complicated when we read about it, but it is easy when we are in the right environment. Then there are no problems. The environment provides us with the right level and the support by which we float as if on air.

What Do The Original Kabbalistic Sources Mean?

Laitman_137The spiritual world is divided into 125 levels. Each of the five books of the Torah is 25 levels which add up to a total of 125 levels that we must undergo in order to fully correct our soul that was shattered as a result of Adam’s sin.
The assembly phase is about checking all the connections of the general soul. This is the reason that the Creator shows us what each of these connections should be because we now are building a communication unit of the soul on a new level.
Everything the original sources say about that (the ARI’s Tree of Life, Baal HaSulam’sTalmud Eser Sefirot, and The Book of Zohar) are all specific upper spiritual rules. They cannot be annulled and cannot be changed, and there is no other way to interpret them. A person who reaches the level understands what they mean.

Independence Day: How To Be Independent

Laitman_931-01There are many forms of independence in our world—economic, political, social and so forth—but this is fictitious independence.A person searches for his independence all his life, but actually is limited in every sense, which is the reason that we need a different approach for becoming independent.
The Israeli nation can only be independent within the state of Israel because geographically it is our land. If we connect and unite in our land when we are allowed to do so by the upper Providence, then, of course, we can be truly independent here and now—truly independent and not fictitiously.
In this land, we must set an example of true independence for the entire world because there is nothing more sublime than this attribute that determines everything. This is what all of nature on all its levels, aspires to! Even a person’s egoistic nature aspires to be free of any form of dependence because otherwise it feels that it is flawed.
This is the reason that we must find a way in which we feel independent for the sake of our ego. It turns out that this can only be attained by balancing the most egoistic state with the most altruistic one so they will eventually connect.
I have read that we need to live in the land of Israel, to develop this state, to fight for it and thus protect our independence. I thought that there was no other way of breaking free of a foreign domination. However, the more I developed, I came to the conclusion that this is not the way to become independent. Independence is acquired by actually ascending above the small local concepts of Zionism, politics, and all the rest. Our goal and our mission are universal. It is above time and doesn’t relate to us personally but to the entire world. We need to translate it to reality. Then, the world really will become independent by uniting with the upper force and reaching the next level of existence, the human level.
Everything depends on us. We must discover our independence above all the obstacles and ascend above them. Then, the world will receive what it is waiting for. Independence is the defining force that pulls and leads us. This is what we feel as a necessity both in egoism and altruism, and it is attained only in the Creator.

Singles Versus Families

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (Presz Pospolita): “In the Western nations there was a form of responsibility that worked previously which took into account the possibility that one allowed another to use part of his freedom in exchange for allowing the reciprocal possibility. Freedom is optional now, it belongs in the category of being a right.
“A free person is someone who reveals a readiness to subjugate himself and those around him in the pursuit of attaining something better. Previous cooperation is changed into stiff competition. Freedom becomes egoism, altruism becomes subjugation. The progressives call a family based on mutual altruism among its members, patriarchal slavery.
“The differences between the roles of men and women became less rigid. Aggressive competition leads to a lack of common goals, a lack of closeness and support. A single person is happier when he feels that he is living correctly, so he conducts war everywhere against the family and its foundation.
“Single people are a product of the welfare state which has collapsed, created following a competitive struggle for survival. The more single people there are, the more rigid and sharp the struggle. They are the reason for the breakdown of society, like a building in which the common good has lost its value, and in its place come the egoistic interests of single people.
“Egoism is a characteristic that typifies a lack of maturity and childishness. It is easy to manipulate immature people. The flexibility and the rightness of their actions, which developed following a lack of familial obligations, is a great advantage.
“A single person in his closed space is not as happy as he seems, but he is not ready to recognize this. If being single is a conscious choice, then it cannot be considered a sign of happiness and a desire to be free. Rather, it indicates the existence of emotional problems, since people were not created to be single and live in solitude.”
My Comment: I think the destruction of families is the result of the growing egoism, as is the growing violence of people and nations. All of this brings us to a need to rethink the essence of our development and the need to find a solution. This solution is applying the principle of unity above all the defects and contradictions in everyone and society as a whole.

Providing Spiritual Nourishment To Humanity

laitman_546_01In the News (from wordcrisis.ru): “Up until about a century ago, 85 – 90% of the population was involved in agriculture and feeding everyone. Today only 5% of the population is involved with agriculture; and they feed the entire world.
“The next stage is industrial. Automation of production and the use of new technologies has made thousands of jobs superfluous. Today a multitude of people are working at jobs that are maintained, or even created, specifically to pay salaries to people. Everything is done so that there won’t be unemployment which would lead to disturbances in the streets.
“Mobilizing resources for maintaining these useless jobs, requires nations to have all kinds of debt programs, selling natural resources and the like. The principle of payment in exchange for work has stopped working. For this reason Capitalism has stopped working and will be replaced by a planned economy of distribution which doesn’t require a constant accumulation of needs.
“When superfluous products disappear from the market, products that are produced only to increase sales, and the technology of planned obsolescence is removed from vital products, 10% of the population will be enough for industrial production.
“An answer to the question of what to do with all the rest of the people, depends on the ideological bias of whoever answers. The answer of the fascists: Annihilate the superfluous. The answer of the Liberals: Turn the superfluous into chips (like a computer chip into which information is inserted), prevent access to education, force on them ideas about “living for myself” so they will gradually die. The answer of the Communists: It is not necessary to annihilate or isolate through a special culture.
“It is found that if the chosen elite of the population will pay itself by itself through a selection of the new elites, then it will wither away and withdraw from the general population. This is the law of regression and degeneration of the elite which shapes itself. But if they select the elite and don’t pay them, then things will be even worse.
“The picture of a post-scientific world must unite within it knowledge about the world, the general rules of behavior and understanding. In the modern era, as a substitute for religion, ideologies developed. Something new must come now as a substitute for ideologies. Society should have a general picture of the world. The main task is not the beneficial exploitation of people who are not needed, but to find a new idea. Those people who provide an idea like this to the world will have tremendous authority.”
My Comment: And I say that there are a people like this (the people of Israel). It has an idea (the wisdom of Kabbalah), which is taken from nature and so it is the only right idea. The people lost this idea and therefore it is said that they “went into exile,” an exile from the idea. It must discover the idea for itself and for the whole world after that. Everything is going towards this. But the discovery of this idea, its adaptation, and its absorption can be long and agonizing. On the other hand, it can be short and easy (the way of Light). This depends only on us, the experts in the wisdom of Kabbalah.

The Difference Between The Wisdom Of Kabbalah And Other Sciences

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: All of the sciences are generally involved with the discovery of nature, meaning the Creator. So in what way is the wisdom of Kabbalah different from the rest of the sciences, even though it also calls itself a science?
Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah is a science for the discovery of the higher power, the only director, which is called the Creator. But unlike the rest of the methods that speak about what a person must do to bring the Creator closer to himself, the wisdom of Kabbalah explains that the discovery of the Creator happens to the degree that a person comes closer to the Creator.
The wisdom tells us that a person must discover the Creator to a greater and greater degree until His full disclosure. This means that the entire wisdom of Kabbalah is a method for changing and correcting a person from being opposite and against the Creator to being completely similar to the Creator.

Kabbalistic Meditation For The Sake Of Unity

laitman_933Question: In Kabbalah is there a kind of meditation, an inner contemplation or concentration? How is it different from Eastern meditation?
Answer: This is a completely different action. Kabbalistic “meditation” is the creation of intentions. The difference is that with intentions I concentrate my inner efforts on connection with others to unite practically with the people who aspire to unity between us. We want to reveal the power of unity and the love in thisunity.
In other words, in Kabbalah a person is not isolated from the environment, but, to the contrary, seeks as much as possible to connect internally with it.
In the Eastern methods, a person can meditate alone, needing no one else. Even if people come together for this meditation, there is no practical connection between them. The method of Kabbalah suggests that it is within the group that we are looking for an opportunity to feel ourselves as one man.
Only under the condition that we achieve such unity like one man can we say that everyone loses his sense of self and is included in “we,” and when this “we” becomes “one” with the help of this one force, we reveal a spiritual degree.
To do this everyone must virtually cancel his egoism within the group, completely nullifying himself before the others. He cancels his “I” and accepts friends, instead of himself.
Thus, he comes out of himself to them so that his previous “I,” which supposedly existed separately, individually, disappears completely, and he feels himself in a new reality inseparable from others.
This feeling does not exist in our world and only can be achieved by using a special upper force of nature. It is the main engine of the method of correction.

There Is No Place More Comfortable Than Home

laitman_766_2Question: For me personally, there is nothing more important than my family, children, and home. Although, nowhere else do I feel so cozy and warm as at home, at the same time, it does not always go smoothly in the family. What is the secret of the family? How should the family be to support us in life, to help us grow and move forward?
Answer: First of all, we must understand that the family is a natural phenomenon and in some form exists in animals as well. As much as the growing offspring need the family, it exists in nature.
The same can be said about people. Being born helpless, the human being is totally dependent on the love of parents who care about him and put him on his feet in a literal and figurative sense.
The family instills in the person the first most basic habits that he follows later in life and one is not able to get rid of them. Indeed, they are transformed into a conditioned instinct that exists forever. The family establishes values that are permanently rooted in a person. They can be good or bad values, but they will dictate a person’s behavior, whether one likes it or not.
Subconsciously, a person will seek to create the same form of the family that he had as a child. Marrying and having children, he still will constantly remember what his parents’ family was and will imitate it, trying to make his family similar.
It is very difficult to separate oneself from the influence of the parental home, no matter what relationships existed there. One simply must go back to the same form of family. Even if he was not comfortable in his parents’ home and he suffered and did not want his family to be similar, he still subconsciously comes to the same thing. It is very important to understand.

In The Right And Honorable Exile

Laitman_509Everything begins with the feeling of exile. A person can study a lot, invest, but the question is when (if at all), will he begin to feel that he is in exile? It’s possible that he has a lot of desires, he wants to know the next world, wants to change himself and the world, but that still isn’t considered exile.
Exile is the lack of our ability to work for the Creator, to giveHim pleasure, and nothing else. This means that exile is a very honorable level, a high and difficult stage. As it is said, “One against the other was created by the Creator.” I begin to discover that I am in exile only with the help of the Light that bestows that shows me my situation and brings me to the feeling of exile.
The Light strengthens more and more and brings me the feeling that I am passing the way of the 49 gates of Impurity, because I am within the egoistic desire and can’t give pleasure to the Creator. And so I shout, “Let my people go!” I understand that I am not able to reach bestowing and giving pleasure to the Creator even though it was my only goal and passion.
Only then I reach the end of the exile and receive Kelim (desire) for redemption. After all, I went through all the gates except the 50th gate, which I don’t feel and am not able to correct.
Thus, one has to exert great efforts in order to clarify the discernments that govern us as opposed to the discernment of bestowal and love of others. That will be the true state of discovery, which means the discovery of exile.
This means that “from the love of the created beings to the love of the Creator.” I don’t know what the Creator is, where He is located, how to relate or to be in contact with Him. We have no means of communication between us. Thus, instead of this I am given other people and the great rule of the Torah, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If I connect everything together, then I can attract the Light that Reforms, which is called “Torah,” which raises me to the level of the Creator.
This means that instead of the Creator, we were given the group, the work field where we can design ourselves in relation to the Creator. Numerous systems are built according to this principle. There are very simple systems where I see myself, see the goal, and the way to reach it. This system was created for simple, non-developed people or small children.
A more advanced person can make longer-term plans that realized in a few years. This is the way all the means of communication work. Even a rocket that is fired doesn’t see the target that is beyond the horizon. But I know how to calculate according to the present data and aim myself towards the goal.
And here it is the same. If I direct myself correctly, with the help of all available means—the Rav, books, group, and dissemination—then I direct myself towards the Creator and I will reach Him. Thus, it is said, “from the love of the created beings to the love of the Creator and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” This means that in this world I always have exact means in order to direct myself to the Creator.
If I understand this, then I feel that I am in the correct exile. This means that I am lacking the contact point with the Creator. And even without any contact with the Creator and without knowing Him, without any hints, I can nevertheless, with the help of the available means at hand, reach the feeling that I am in exile, that I cannot give pleasure to the Creator, and I am far from Him. He is there somewhere! And then I clarify where that “somewhere” is, where the “49 gates of Impurity” are, and understand that the Creator is the opposite of impurity. From within this gap, between exile and redemption, the feeling of deficiency is born that I equip myself with and am able to exit Egypt with great possessions and to continue to work with them to transform the “49 gates of impurity” into gates of purity.
Thus, we shouldn’t think that we have no means. We have everything that is needed, except for the spiritual attributes of bestowal that we will receive only if we desire them. And we were given all the means to desire them.

From the 4th part of the Daily Kabbalah Lesson 4/7/14Writings of the Ari

The Value Of Desire

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Torah, “Leviticus,” 27:1 – 27:4, 27:7: And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: When a man expresses a vow [pledging the] value of lives to the LORD, the [fixed] value of a male shall be as follows: From twenty years old until sixty years old, the value is fifty silver shekels, according to the holy shekel. And if she is a female, the value is thirty shekels;
And if [the person is] sixty years old or over, if it is a male, the value shall be fifteen shekels, while for a female, it shall be ten shekels.
Value refers to the size of the desire, to its intensity, which a person must express in his relationship with the Creator. The meaning of “When a man expresses a vow [pledging the] value of lives to the LORD” is according to this value.
A shekel symbolizes the desire that is required of a person called a man or a woman at a certain age. This is determined according to the intensity they work in order to bestowand thus are similar to the Creator and connected to Him.

Repaying The Debts In The Jubilee

Laitman_167The Torah, “Leviticus” 27:20 – 27:21: But if he does not redeem the field, and if he has sold the field to someone else, it may no longer be redeemed. But, when the field leaves in the Jubilee, it shall be holy to the Lord like a field devoted; his inherited property shall belong to the Cohen.”
We can give or sell our field to others in our world and in the 50th year the debts are erased and everything goes back to the way it was before. In the spiritual world this is a very complicated system, but it also works that way. We work very hard on our desires for a long time and on the 50th year (the Jubilee) we reach a level where these desires ascend to the next level.
Repaying the debts in the 50th year (the level of Bina) is not a descent and ascent but an ascent to a new level because everything accumulated during this time becomes the next level thanks to the work of the Upper Light. It corrects what we wanted to but couldn’t. This special state is called “Jubilee.” If it were kept even on the corporeal level it could bring the world to a totally different state. Unfortunately, a person in this world thinks that what he has is his own private property, but everything is temporary and after a certain period of time everything goes back to its root, to the Creator.
Question: Does this mean that when I think “I will buy a house and leave it to my children” it is a mistake from a spiritual perspective?
Answer: A person has to take care of himself so as not to be a burden on society. He has to take care of his children and teach them a profession and leave them some inheritance. But the Torah advises us not to tell them about the inheritance because this can spoil them. If a child knows that he will receive everything from his parents, it leads him to live a carefree life simply waiting: “The time will come and I will receive everything from them, so I can take it easy.”
He has to earn things by himself. Therefore, parents should be strict with their children, which is what happens to us when we are brought up spiritually. We are given certain conditions and we have to keep them, but if we don’t we are given even tougher conditions.

Turning Away From The Path Of Suffering

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Torah, “Leviticus”, 26; 36-37: And as for them that are left of you, I will send a faintness into their heart in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a driven leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as one fleeth from the sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth. And they shall stumble one upon another, as it were before the sword, when none pursueth; and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.
If the Israeli nation doesn’t choose to correct itself voluntarily, there is a need for a very tough external force that will suppress the ego and force it to behave properly. This is called the path of suffering. Along this path people realize what they have been through, how far they have diverted from their goal, and that they need to fully understand this in order to return to fulfilling their duty. But in order to do so, their eyes have to be opened so that they become aware of the two forces in nature and how they operate.
You can only demand something from a person according to his level of development. When does a child begin to understand that he is in a certain framework? First he goes to kindergarten where he is taught what is allowed and what is forbidden. This continues in school. It is only at the age of 14-15 that he becomes responsible for his actions and understands that there are certain laws of behavior that if he breaks, he can be arrested by the police. After the age of 18 he is an adult, although he is not yet fully mature.
In any case, we have to bring a person to the recognition of what he is required to do and so he must fulfill that requirement. Only then will it be possible to hold him responsible. This is the reason that we undergo such a long preparation period of thousands of years. The problem today is that even the sufferings we have undergone don’t help us.
The question is if they were enough. At the end of the 19th century for example, the first settlers arrived in Israel. They were ready to live under difficult conditions such as a hot dry climate, swamps that needed to be drained, and the suffering of malaria in order to build the Kibbutzim. In 10 to 20 years, people began to forget all that. The second Aliya(wave of immigration) began and then the third, but they were different people because the ego kept renewing itself. A person doesn’t believe that what happened to him yesterday can be repeated today. It is not even his fault that it is all erased from his memory since he is a new person each day. Therefore, the main thing is education and the teaching of the principles of national and global unity.

Looking At The World Through The Prism Of Desire

laitman_928The Torah, “Leviticus” 27:11 – 27:12: And if it is any unclean animal, of whose type shall not be brought as an offering to the Lord, then he shall stand up the animal before the Cohen. The Cohen shall then evaluate it whether it is good or bad; like the evaluation of the Cohen, so shall it be.
This speaks about the desires of the animate level. In every person there are a great number of desires: still, vegetative, animate, and speaking, that is, five levels from zero to four. Each one of the desires must be integrated with the others to work in full bestowalwith an intention for the sake of the Creator.
But some of them cannot be corrected so that they work with an intention for the sake of bestowal by themselves. They cannot act directly, but alternatively. Let’s say that a donkey is an unclean animal that cannot be brought to the Temple as a sacrifice. So it can participate in the general system of management by carrying out its task, and that is how it is with everything in nature.
Nothing should be annihilated; it is only necessary to use what is presented to us in the right way. Since the Torah is talking about our inner desires, we need to investigate them within us, classifying and differentiating them according to their character and correcting them gradually so that each one of them will be directed toward bestowal in some way.
All of the desires must pass through the examination of the Cohen (priest). The Cohen is the point of contact with the Creator. So a person needs to find the Cohen within himself, this being the highest point in his state, and view the world through that. Only then will he examine and clarify everything correctly.
Viewing the world through the Cohen signifies that I am looking at the world through the characteristic of bestowal and I see that everyone except for me is in a corrected state. And so I constantly continue to bring myself to see clearly that the whole world depends on me and how I need to bestow to it, to come to the right mutual cooperation with all of humanity. And this is the point of the Cohen. So he becomes a teacher. It is said: “and ye shall be unto Me a kingdom of priests….” (Exodus 19:6), meaning teachers who are concerned about all of humanity.

Pharaoh Is Seen Only In The Center Of The Group

laitman_528_02When a person goes to war against his egoism, he should just remember that the group is next to him in which he will discover all the strength that will help him to contend against himself, against his Pharaoh, against his nature.
I must imagine that I am found outside of myself and am looking at my beast, at myself, from the outside. Then I identify myself with the group, and from there I look at my body, at all of my characteristics, desires, and thoughts, and I consider it to be my Pharaoh. And that is how it is until my body is refined and hands itself over to the group, which is my standard for bestowal. That is how I reach correction.
I demand that I will be able to feel the power of bestowal within the group that leads and holds me. All of this is found in the center of the group. If there is no Arvut (mutual guarantee), then I won’t discover Pharaoh.

I Am Ready To Jump Into The Red Sea

Rabash, “What is the Blessing ‘That A Miracle Happened to Me in this Place’ in the Work”: Therefore it says about the exile in Egypt: “Remember that you were a slave in Egypt,” which means that being a slave is so bad because Israel suffered in Egypt.
This means that on the one hand, they felt what it means to be Israel(Yashar-El, straight to the Creator) a little, and on the other hand, they realized that the opposite force governs them. Thus, they began to feel that they were enslaved, held there against their will.
Therefore, it says “remember,” which means that we should remember the sufferings that they suffered there. Then there is a reason to rejoice at the redemption from Egypt.
They should truly regret their slavery and really want to change the situation in order to change the domination of one force to the other force, to the domination of the Creator. As much as the Pharaoh rules, we want the domination of the Creator, and thus increase one with regard to the other until we pass through the 49 gates of impurity behind which the force of bestowal, the Creator, is revealed, which is called the exodus from Egypt.
It is impossible to come out of Egypt with little recognition of the evil that our ego causes us. It must be an unbearable state where  my death is better than this life. I am ready to jump into the Red Sea and to do everything so that I will not have to remain in my ego.
This is the reason that this work can only be done in a group where everyone works together and is incorporated in one another. Everyone collects all the efforts and the feelings of enslavement from all the others and thus feels that he must come out and that he cannot remain there. This is the reason that working on the connection gives everyone such a strong feeling of pain that he is thus forced to demand the exit to redemption.

Without Exile It Is Impossible To Attain Redemption

laitman_260_01The level of Nefesh Ruach de Ruach (VAK de Ruach) is called exile and Gar de Ruach is redemption. Nefesh is not considered because it is only a motionless state, and Ruach is already the beginning of the work.
VAK de Ruach is our effort to do everything possible. However, in the meantime, there is no contact with the Light, and so this is called exile. It is impossible to feel exile on a level that is less than Nefesh Ruach de Ruach (VAK de Ruach).
A person comes to study and doesn’t understand what exile this is talking about at all. However, if we develop a connection between us correctly in which we discover theCreator, this is called redemption, and the lack of connection between us, because the characteristic of bestowal and love called the Creator is not awakened in us, is called exile.
That is how we can begin to calibrate the relationships between us. If the intensity of the connection between us is more than the level of the still and reaches Nefesh Ruach de Ruach (VAK de Ruach), this is considered exile. However, we already feel that this is exile. We really feel the lack of finding the Ohr HaRuach, meaning the Gar de Ruach that already indicates movement, meaning a feeling of vitality, an internal power.
The main thing is to get used to always speaking about building the ten Sefirot in the connection between us. During the process of this work, we constantly move through all kinds of changes and states, some of which are called exile. To the degree that we make an effort to draw help from above, we advance. This is the work in the Egyptian exile.
If we don’t ask, don’t pray, don’t try to connect, which brings us to prayer, then we don’t work through the exile and don’t advance toward redemption. This is because in spirituality time is the number of operations or changes that we are trying to make.

Only A Miracle Can Help

laitman_236_02It is possible to feel the exile only on condition that a person wants to reach bestowal, invests much effort in every way possible, and sees that he is not able to attain what is desired with his own powers.
Then, to the degree of his suffering and effort, it is possible to declare that he feels he is in exile as if they are holding him by the hands and feet and won’t let him break through to bestowal. He tries with all his might to break free, yet something stops him and doesn’t let him do this.
He seems to succeed at something, but ultimately it turns out that all of this was for his own sake. He tries again and discovers that he gets the power and the vigor from his ego. He intended to do this and he supposed that his work was for the sake of Heaven, that it was pure bestowal, and suddenly he discovers that all of this was for the sake of his desire for pleasure that deceived him. All of this brings the feeling of the Egyptianservitude and exile.
From Rabash’s article, “What is the blessing, ‘Who Has Made a Miracle for Me in This Place’ in the Work?”: And it must be known that a person is under the control of a desire to receive for himself, it is called the “Egyptian exile.” For when we enter into this work, the magnitude of the dominance of evil in one is gradually revealed.
As it is written, “…and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage….” (Exodus 2:23), meaning that they began to work on bestowal and saw that they were unable to do this work because the Egyptians dominated them. And then they saw that they didn’t have the ability to leave the Egyptian exile, but the Holy One, blessed be He, could take them out.
This is a great revelation, discovering, first of all, that I am not free. A second thing is that it fills me with the spirit of impurity that dominates me and forces me to act egoistically, only for myself.
This is not even for my own good, for there is me and there is some kind of spirit that enters into me and fills me inside. This evil spirit constantly eats at me and pushes me toward acting for its sake and benefit.
I am separated from the spirit that exists in me, and I hate it, yet I cannot do anything with it. This is like a cancerous tumor inside, and I dream of being freed from it, yet I cannot. After I try with all my might to be freed from it, I discover that only the higher power above me, only a miracle, can help me remove this spirit of impurity that obligates me to work for its benefit at every moment, and I constantly search for how to fill myself. Basically, it is not even for myself, but for it.
This is the feeling of subjugation and the discovery that only the higher power is prepared to release me from it. I am entirely under this control that fills me and shackles my hands. Only one point of observation remains in me from which I can see that this strange force dominates me and surrounds me. It is the only thing that fills my heart and mind.
Precisely from this point that remains, I can connect with the Creator. I don’t have the ability to do anything with this spirit and foreign dominance within me, and so the need to turn to the Creator appears in me in contrast to this evil internal dominance.
It becomes clear to me that there can be another good dominance, and I want to turn toward that. This means that I have located the Creator. This is because what existed before, which I imagined was the higher power, didn’t belong to that at all. Rather, this was the same Pharaoh.
