Build A “Tent of Revelation” In Yourself

laitman_525Kabbalists talk about the spiritual world with words of this world, which causes us to be very confused. We read in the Torah about building the “Tent of Revelation,” (Tabernacle) and our mind grasps this as a physical activity.
The Kabbalists say that we can ultimately discover spirituality if we read these books by trying with all our might to descend into the depths of the words and clarifying what is truly concealed behind every word.
Question: So Moses is not an old man with white hair, a long beard, and a staff?
Answer: Certainly not! Moses is a characteristic. We are not talking about people or objects, but only about characteristics. Not an evil person but evil, not a stingy person but stinginess. The spiritual world is characteristics in their purest form.
So when reading the weekly portion, I must imagine a spiritual state, the upper world. If it is written that it is necessary to build the “Tent of Revelation,” so I must clarify, what is this spiritual tool in which the Creator is revealed? What characteristics in me must match what must be within it: The “Ark of the Covenant” with the Cherubs, Cohanim (priests), and Levites, with the people of Israel standing around it?
I begin to search for these characteristics only within me; everything happens within a person. The whole world is inside of me, as it is said: “And a person is a small world.” Even this entire world that I now see around me is actually found within me.
We must always try to represent this correctly, and ultimately an inner transformation will occur when I will begin to feel that it is truly found inside of me. Then I will understand how to build the “Tent of the Testimony” and what the work of the Cohanim, the Levites and the people of Israel that are around them are, and how my twelve tribes of Israel move forward in the wilderness.
I must build all the details that are mentioned in the Torah from my characteristics and desires. Before me lies the heap of my desires, and I must take them, sort all the forces and characteristics and clarify how to connect them to build the same form the Torah talks about.

A Game That Becomes Our Life

laitman_527Question: Why does a child play so naturally and truthfully while for a grownup a game is a lie?
Answer: It is because we adults have gotten used to living in a lie: our life is a lie and the game is a lie. It isn’t a crime but simply our nature. A game is always a lie and never the truth because after all, I don’t play myself but someone I would like to be.
We wouldn’t be able to advance without games. Children perceive a game as the absolute truth and therefore develop and grow. If we wholeheartedly joined in a game, like kids, we wouldn’t be able to leave it and would stay in it.
This is actually the tool that the wisdom of Kabbalah uses. I am told: “You need to love others, and in this love you will begin to feel the Creator! Here, you have a group that is made of ten people; start establishing such relations between you by pretending that each one loves the others. You have to create such an atmosphere between you so that each one will disappear in it and will melt in his love for others.”
I act out this love over and over again by returning to it a thousand times each day until I am incorporated in it to such an extent that I melt in this love and connection. Then I can attain the revelation of the Creator.
By being incorporated in love, I am incorporated in the Creator. This ceases to be a game and becomes the game of my life. But first I play it artificially: I pretend that I love thefriends and annul myself before them without any desire to do so. I force myself and convince myself that I have to act this love, although I don’t feel it at all.
But I suddenly feel a warm feeling. The others influence me by setting an example for me by their alleged loving attitude; I see that they are loyal to this love and I feel ashamed that I cannot return the same love to them. I criticize and reprimand myself over and over again and once more force myself to love the others.
But when I annul myself this way, I suddenly begin to see how all the corporeal objects around me begin to disappear: the table, the chairs, and the walls. They all disappear from my perception and only one thing remains—the love that I feel. I also disappear. I become enslaved to this feeling of love, and there is nothing left but that feeling that is external to me since my “self” disappears.
My “self” is my ego, which disappears, and then I begin to feel how the upper force, the Creator, fills everything. It is because I have annulled myself and now I can feel Him. I have annulled my egoism and have received the attribute of the upper force, the attribute of bestowal, and this is the real game.

People Are Ape-Men

laitman_423_01Opinion ( Prof. S. Savelyev ):  “What belongs to human substance is something that does not carry biological benefit. Money earned, buildings that we construct, propagation, these don’t belong to the human part. We have not succeeded in becoming human.
“We – are mammals that are very aggressive and unreasonable. Prized highly is adaptability, the ability to obtain food… The structure of society reflects the evolution of society, but not the results of the rational development of mankind.
“… The frontal lobes of the brain were formed to share food, with the entire environment. Rigid natural selection shaped us as social creatures with huge frontal lobes. This gave us the possibility to co-exist together without annihilating each other when hunger pangs appeared. But this selective process needs to continue for another 200 thousand years, so that this behavior will become a norm.
“At present, we are social animals that understand that theft is not good, but at the same time, it is necessary to steal! The frontal lobes only help us to try to exercise social behavior, but in the meantime we are half animal, requiring hierarchical management. We are going to dominate and force our way with money. Man, like beasts, demands totalitarianism.
“In the public eye, every one of us is a democrat and a humanist, but in secret we are reminiscent of a troop of baboons. The behavior of a group of young people, who rob occasional passersby, is identical to a group of nations that perform acts of conquest and dominance.
“The natural state of a monkey is laziness, deceit, adultery with the wife of a neighbor, theft, and inconsiderate activities. For people this is forbidden and they are compelled to balance between the characteristics of the beast and the human in them.
“All self-organization is of biological design. An example of this could be the Mafia or organizations established among prisoners in prisons. The creation of a hierarchy is a sign of the behavior of primates. Specifically due to biological characteristics, it is easier to build a totalitarian nation than a democratic one.
“A democratic regime requires people who think identically and know how to be honest. Without scientific cerebral sorting it is impossible to choose people like these, for even among ‘real’ democrats there are thieves who steal. Perhaps society should stop hiding the mutual attitudes and goals of baboons?”
My Comment: The whole purpose of the wisdom of Kabbalah is to make us apes into humans! It brings us to unity instead of confrontation, a circle instead of hierarchy, love of others instead of hatred, equal distribution instead of theft, giving instead of conquest, and in general behaving according to the law of a unified society. Otherwise, we remain baboons, and our lag in development will turn against us, and the power of suffering will force us to become human.

Anti-Semitism: A Prophetic Understanding Of The Future

Laitman_006A sense of the uniqueness of the Jewish people has been revealed not only among philosophers and politicians, but also among all the people on the face of the Earth. However, this doesn’t prevent them from having a natural resistance to Jews. This contradiction successfully connects, on the one hand, a tremendous respect for the Jews, and on the other hand, hatred and a desire to annihilate them.
Among many typical anti-Semites, it is possible to discern a prophetic understanding of the future thanks to which they specifically adhere to the people of Israel, and through this, they rise together with them, beginning to see their future and the future of humanity in that their expressions approach the prophets.
The Klipot (Shells) and Kedusha (Sanctity/Holiness), and the forces of Tumaa (Impurity) and Tahara (Purity), are at the same  level, one opposite the other. And so when you consider the psychology of the actions of the ideologies of Fascism and anti-Semitism in the past, it is necessary to take into account the actions of the Kabbalists and the prophets to see how one works in contrast to the other.
Question: So, does it follow that there had to be a Hitler because there was Baal HaSulam?
Answer: Certainly, Kedusha and Tumaa support each other and must coexist until they are corrected. What does “Sitra Achra” (Other side/Evil inclination) mean? It means that the people of Israel haven’t finished their task. Through their example, the Jews must bring the entire world to unity and love. However, since they have not provided such an example, the entire world has the opposite characteristic, especially those people who are sensitive to this situation and become anti-Semitic.
All of the international leaders, politicians, and presidents are anti-Semitic because through their integration into political work and their work with the masses, they subconsciously begin to feel that the force that obstructs them is found here, and we are the ones who are doing this! We are obstructing all of humanity, making it impossible for them to achieve the best state because we must do it first.
3,500 years ago, Abraham gathered the Jewish people from among completely different people, and united them through the law “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” above all of the contradictions and oppositions between them. That is how we existed for 1,500 years until 2,000 years ago when we fell from the level of love to the level of hatred. So, we lost our land and were scattered throughout the world. Now, we have connected again. No one asks us whether we want this or not, and today we must show everyone an example of connection and unity.
Why did we live in exile so long? So that today we would show how from the egoism we are in it is possible to make a normal human society that exists altruistically. Thus we give an example to the world, which is imperative in our time because humanity is approaching an integral state of mutual hatred, and this cannot continue for long. If hatred erupts, then it will blow up the entire globe.
So a person who has achieved something in politics or in working with society to some degree understands who is to blame here. He becomes anti-Semitic, not because he grew up in a family possessing anti-Semitic virulence, but because he sees the reason that the world has failed to become better. It means that his hatred toward the Jews is required! He talks about their failed mission and about how they are disturbing the entire world.
The boycott that is now organized against Israel is global in nature. This was foretold by our prophets, that the entire world would go to war against us, not because humanity doesn’t love us, but because through this hatred they reach an awareness of the mission of the people of Israel. Through hatred they will understand who we are, and then, along with the tremendous hatred, the possibility of freedom of choice will appear among them, “I hate them, but I need them. How is it possible to obligate them to carry out their mission?” So, the nations of the world will force Israel to realize their destiny.
Question: You say that the more Kedusha increases among the Jewish people, so theKlipot of the nations of the world becomes greater. Does this mean that the more that we rise spiritually, the forces that oppose us will become stronger?
Answer: No, the more that we grow, the more we can show humanity how it must go forward. In the initial state Kedusha and Tumaa, egoism and altruism, exist as two equal, opposing forces. It is specifically between them that our freedom of choice, our participation, exists.

How Do You Discover Your Mission?

Laitman_003.jpgQuestion: Does every person have a unique mission, and how can I find it?
Answer: Every person certainly has a unique mission because each one has a unique root of his soul, and only this person is ready to realize it. Nobody in the world can complete his part in his place.
How do you know your mission? To do this you need to come and learn the wisdom of Kabbalah. Only you can discover your mission and no one instead of you.
Even if we see you have a high root of your soul and a unique mission, only you can discover what exactly that involves and realize it. Everything is in front of you!

A New Look At The Leader Of The Generation

laitman_943Comment: Historically, the union of the Jewish people took place under the leadership of a leader: Abraham, Moses, etc. It seems that a person, a messenger, always appears.
Answer: All the leaders of the Jewish people became their representative for a short period in the movement toward unity. Unity is the central goal of the entire creation, not only of our world, but also of all the worlds. And at each stage a person appeared who made a small step towards this.
Question: Many circles within Judaism are waiting for the coming of the Messiah, the spiritual leader who will unite the people. Do you see a possibility like this now?
Answer: I think that this leader is our organization, which is creating an infrastructure for the education of the people and an example of our common mission to all of humanity. It could be that this will happen in another 10, 15, or 20 years. We are working towards this, and I personally hope that my students will take this role upon themselves. I don’t see any other force in the world that can bring the world to unity. The external conditions will help this so that our world group will continue to grow and its students will rise up so that they will be able to become the leaders of the generation.
Comment: This is an entirely new view of a leader. In the past leaders were separate people, whereas now you are saying that this could be a group.
Answer: The time has come, and everything will be revealed from above. I personally do not worry about our future; just do your work.

In Connection With Nature

Laitman_720Question: What relationship should we have with nature?
Answer: We need to learn nature’s principle law: the attribute of mutual connection. In everyday language we are speaking about love and bestowal. We exist as in a casing, within inanimate, vegetative, and animal nature. The only thing that a person needs to do is to become connected and fully integrated with it. After all, the completely integrated system is all of humanity, plus the inanimate, vegetative, and animal levels. In this case, we attain a complete picture of the structure, the feeling and revelation of nature as a whole, which means attaining the Creator.
Question: What is the connection with inanimate nature?
Answer: That is when I act the same as the rest of the animals in nature. I don’t destroy anything; I don’t perform needless acts, but use the world around me only to the extent that I need to for physical existence, and all my moral, internal energy is directed to connection with the general law of nature: the law of mutual bestowal, mutual connection, and love.
When I bestow and receive, I mutually take part in all that surrounds me, as an equal part, and in no way do I distinguish myself, but only aim at love and bestowal. This means that I don’t attain anything beyond that which is necessary for me.  If I am involved with an inner penetration of nature, which each person should be, then I don’t have any desire remaining to perform any acts in this world that don’t bring benefit.  The only thing that I need is to keep myself in normal physical condition, and all the rest is  to direct myself only towards connection with the upper force of nature, which is called the Creator.

Inside Out

laitman_934Question: What is the spiritual meaning of “my land”?
Answer:
“My land” is a desire I have to correct. One I can not do alone, but only in unity with others.
Answer: Others are parts of my soul who seem to me like strangers and who are apparently found outside of me. So I can relate to them as if they don’t exist or are seemingly far from me.
And I can also relate differently by understanding that they are within me; these are my personal characteristics that are projected outside of me by my mind to make it possible for me to work mutually with them more freely and expansively, and I can see all of my characteristics and theirs as opposites.
If I understand that they are my characteristics, I can accept them. But if it seems to me that they are found in someone else, then I am not ready to accept or get closer to this person. So a vision like this of my inner characteristics in the form of billions of people around me helps me to amplify all of my inner inaccuracies, contradictions, and errors like a magnifying glass.
In this way, I can correct myself to scratch because if the person is found outside of me, I feel the smallest discrepancies between us and I don’t deceive myself! But if he is within me, then I am ready to agree with everything that there is and never correct myself. So I see myself inside out in the form of all the people around me.

The Intention And Act Of Dissemination Of Kabbalah In The World

Dr. Michael LaitmanComment: Complaints are made that you are opening the wisdom of Kabbalah not only among Jews but also for the whole world; what do you say about that?
Answer: It is written in the Prophets that the nations of the world will carry the Jews on their shoulders to the Temple. Where will they get the knowledge and desire to carry out this work? They must aspire to their redemption and understand that it will come to them only through the people of Israel, and then they will carry us to the Temple. Otherwise we won’t get there—only together.
The nations of the world pressure us and push us forward, for we have no particular strength or desire for this. The intention comes from us, and the force must come from them. For this to happen, it is necessary to engage in dissemination with them.
Question: Does this mean that they must also motivate us through intense pressure, suffering, and wars…?
Answer: Not just through this. They will consciously take us upon their shoulders, bring us to Jerusalem, and together with us they will arrive there themselves. About this it is said by the prophet Isaiah: “And the peoples shall take them and bring them to their place, and the House of Israel shall inherit them on the soil of the Lord…” (Isaiah 14:2)
But is it possible to achieve this without dissemination among the nations of the world? After all, it is necessary that they have the knowledge about what can save them and the whole world.
We need to consciously carry out common work and help each other mutually—we in intention, they in action.

Reforging Egoism To Bestowal

laitman_289The Torah, Numbers 8:4: This was the form of the menorah: hammered work of gold, from its base to its flower it was hammered work; according to the form that the Lord had shown Moses, so did he construct the menorah.
Question: Why is the menorah forged from a single piece of gold?
Answer: Forging the menorah of pure gold means reforging the pure ego into the opposite attribute in order to give and bestow Light.
At the same time, the beaten piece of gold must be whole and cannot be made of different parts because we must reach a state in which all of our egoism, all of our nature, becomes the attribute of love and bestowal.
This is the reason that this weekly section of the Torah is called Beha’alotcha, meaning when you ascend to the Light.
Rabash said that the term “menorah” refers to a person’s body, and when the Creator’sLight is dressed in it, a person illuminates like the menorah. However, the question is how a person’s body can wear the Upper Light when there is such a great difference between the attributes of the Light and the vessels, which means the person’s body. When we speak about the body, we refer to egoism.
He also says that the difficulty in creating a vessel is called a deficiency, and then the filling for that deficiency can enter it. But if a person has no deficiencies, there is no room for a filling that comes as a response to his deficiency, called help from above.
Thus, it is clear that a person cannot act without deficiencies because there is no room for fulfilling the deficiencies.
The deficiencies that we are given are help from above. Without them, a person will have no demand, and the desire for correction will not be ignited in him. We must process all the difficulties inside us anew and use them as material for illumination.
Our role is to feel that everything stems from the Creator, but we must change it in the right way and place it correctly inside us. At the same time, a person is in a state of total confusion, fears, worries, and other images.
This means that he is raised to a level where he is like a fragile branch in the wind, and he cannot find his way around. This is just the starting point where he is forged and made into a menorah. When his egoism is softened, the process of forging begins. This is the hard transition to the attribute of bestowal.
However, at the same time, when we find the connection with the Creator, it becomes a pleasure, a redemption from our internal snake, from everything that we hate.
In other words, we must hate what is inside us more than the pain, and then we will not feel it. Therefore, the power of our intention and our yearning for the goal must be greater than the pain that we feel because it is all measured by the same parameter: the force of attraction (the force of bestowal).
If the force of attraction toward the goal is greater than the force of the pain (the force of rejection), we will not feel the force of the pain.

Adam’s Sin And The Correction Of The Soul

laitman_557The Torah, “Numbers” 1:20 – 1:27: And the children of Reuben, Israel’s first-born, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.
Of the children of Simeon, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, those that were numbered thereof, according to the number of names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.
Of the children of Gad, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Gad, were forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty.
Of the children of Judah, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Judah, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.
This is about the shattered particles of the soul that assemble into one general soul.
The Upper Light enters the tiny spiritual particle and brings into this particle all its power and energy that includes the whole universe, all the worlds, everything that the Creatorhas given the created being, and thus blows it to pieces. The shattering symbolizes the revelation of the great egoism inside it, and this is called Adam’s sin.
Now a great egoistic desire is revealed in the tiny particle that exploded into a billion parts, which is equal to the infinite Upper Light. When the Light enters the particle, it transfers all its greatness to it in an opposite form, in the form of help against. Now we have to change all the great egoistic attributes into the attribute of the Light according to our connection and unity.
But we don’t return to the tiny particle; rather, we connect and are covered by all the Upper Light. It is as if we dress onto this particle like a snake that dresses on its prey.
We have to understand that all the attributes, all the mutual connections, everything we have to discover, is separated in an absolute accurate manner and they all have their own places. These are the clear and accurate physical laws that are based on the correlation between the Light and the desire, between the Creator and the attribute that is opposite from Him. Everything has to be kept in perfect accuracy, and therefore it is said: examine whether you calculate everything correctly, whether you have undergone certain states, whether you are on a given spiritual level, and whether you have perceived it internally.

Eternal Love

laitman_934Question: The Creator’s name is love, which tells us about Him. When we love, we become like Him. When we die, we disappear and cannot love anymore. Is the Creator’s love eternal or not?
Answer: There is no death but a change in our perception of reality from the perception through the body, seemingly as if through a corporeal body, to a direct perception in the desire called a soul.
When we acquire the connection with the soul along with this perception we smoothly transcend to the next form of perception. The connection with the soul is acquired through our love of mankind. But this is not what is meant by love now, in our egoism,; it is outside ourselves, outside egoism. Kabbalah teaches about love and it and the Creator are perceived (in the group of friends).
[162619]

Concealment Is Good

Laitman_011The Torah, Numbers 9:22-23: Whether it was for two days, a month or a year, that the cloud lingered to hover over theMishkan, the children of Israel would encamp and not travel, and when it departed, they traveled.
At the Lord’s bidding they would encamp, and at the Lord’s bidding they would travel; they kept the charge of the Lord by the word of the Lord through Moses.
The cloud is good. It is a blessing that made it possible to work in concealment. The Creator concealed Himself, making it possible for us to work under His wing.
So, we didn’t need the Creator Himself, but only His concealment so that under it, it would be possible to develop ourselves to resemble Him, and if we can resemble Him through that concealment that He created for us, then this is true and correct growth.
To reach the revelation of the Creator, it is necessary to absorb all of the characteristics of the cloud into us. It must enter into me, be within me, because the concealment must exist within every desire of mine. It is necessary to work on this!

The Secret Of Kabblah Books

laitman_526Question: If there are no words in spirituality, how do Kabbalists convey their attainments to one another and write books?
Answer: Kabbalists use what we call the language of branches. The spiritual world is the root, and from it we perceive some corporeal imprint in our corporeal senses that is called a branch.
Therefore we can describe spiritual phenomena even in our language, using this world’s words, because there is an outcome, a branch in the corporeal world for everything that exists in the spiritual world.
Suppose we are two Kabbalists. How can I tell you about the spiritual world if the spiritual consciousness and attainment are personal? I feel a certain picture, a form, a great world, an infinite reality that is revealed to me in all my senses in every direction, in every axis, and you feel something, too. How can we communicate and share our impressions?
The solution is actually in being here in our world, in our corporeal bodies. This is the reason that we can use our bodies to communicate with one another to write texts and to convey information even by clues or by a glance. This is the reason that we use our corporeal language.
In the spiritual world, for example, there are forces called a chair, a table, a cup, air, a wall, a window, and so forth.
We use these names in our world, but by using them, we refer to the internal essence of the concept in the spiritual world. I say “a window,” but I refer to a window that exists in the spiritual world, while you understand which window I refer to. I say “the window is open,” and you understand what the meaning of an open window is in the spiritual world, although I convey the idea to you by using corporeal words.
This is how Kabbalists speak, and this is how they write their books. This is called thelanguage of the branches that is accepted by all Kabbalists. This is the language in which the Torah is written, but ordinary people don’t know that because Kabbalists wrote it in order to speak to one another about the spiritual world, while people think that it is about our world. This is the secret of the Torah.
Question: It turns out that when your read Kabbalah books, the words don’t mean anything to you unless you understand their double meaning.
Answer: That’s right. I read only these words because I know the language, but I don’t understand more than someone who doesn’t know Hebrew. What is more, if a person doesn’t know Hebrew, it is even better since then he is not confused and does not imagine different things about our world.

Imaginary And True Freedom, Part 8 – A Worldwide University

laitman_578Comment: If I were a doctor in the future generation and signs of emptiness, depression, being closed, and despair appeared in my patient, I would not extinguish these signs with the help of pills; rather, I would explain to him towards what he was heading and aim him in the right direction.
Answer: I think that in the future, instead of doctors there will be guides who provide people with their new states, through training, education, preparation of internal, psychological, and spiritual workshops that bring the person out to a feeling of outer space. So instead of being closed within himself and only feeling the entire environment within himself, as happens today, it is necessary to bring the person out to a feeling of what is outside of him. This will be the role of the new worldwide university, and now that a passage towards a new need is happening within humanity, a new evaluation of life, we need to think about creating a completely new educational network.

Imaginary And True Freedom, Part 7 – Approach To A New Paradigm

laitman_278_01Question: When I go “out of myself,” do I become someone else and completely identify myself with all the processes of nature?
Answer: You could say that. But the fact is that there is much more change. After changing our entire psychology, after changing ourperception of the world to other worlds, nothing is left of us from the past.
Now we cannot talk about the state “outside of myself” because it is difficult for us to describe it. Today we are only in an egoistic paradigm and our point in the heart demands that we leave this paradigm. We are slowly but surely approaching what is needed to go out to the next level of existence; nature is driving us towards this. But in the meantime, this need is implemented in the form of depression, drugs, terrorism, and an inability to solve any problems.
To be continued….
[162170]

Imaginary And True Freedom, Part 6 – True Freedom

laitman_527_03Question: Is going “out of yourself” towards love for others, true freedom or imaginary?
Answer: This specifically is freedom. It is because when I rise above myself and go out towards love of others, I don’t just move myself into the others and instead of my ego another person enslaves me.
No. In going out of myself, I go to the next level of existence and thus detach from myself.
I stop seeing this world in the same form I see it through my five egoistic senses, and I begin to look at it through five altruistic senses: Keter, Hochma, Bina, Zeir Anpin, andMalchut. They are completely different senses.
I begin to see our world as eternal, infinite, and whole, and I see myself in the same way. And that selfish piece that always held me and didn’t let go of me can no longer hold me; I am detached from it and begin my free flight.
Now I am not limited in any way, not in realizing love, not in realizing my mutual connection, and not in anything else. I enter into a new space that is not enclosed within the “pot” of this world; my “self” is determined there by my connection with everyone else.
Everything that is found outside of me is all my “self” because I have moved into another space within only one point, which in principle is what awakens me. Specifically within this point, thanks to which I somehow felt myself within a pot, I leave the closed space. Everything else remains within the pot.

Imaginary And True Freedom, Part 5 – Freedom After Solution Of The Problem

laitman_424_02Question: As a child I had the feeling that the whole world was a pot. The sky was the cover and I was in the bottom of the pot like a small insect.
All the stories about the Earth being round and large paled in comparison to this internal feeling of being isolated, imprisoned, trapped without an exit. What is this feeling?
Answer: This is a very real feeling about our closed world. Moreover, it is closed such that, on one hand, we see ourselves in some kind of immense space, but on the other hand, this space is dead, it has nothing in it.
And even if we were found not on this tiny ball but in another galaxy, it would be the same thing, I would not be able to escape from myself. Only there would be other conditions of the inanimate nature, and what else?
We truly are found in a “pot with a lid,” and if we don’t come out of this situation, then all of us can expect a bitter end; there is nothing to do here. But this feeling helps people consider why nature created us as intelligent beings and developed us from some inanimate particle to the most complex organisms; after all, it couldn’t be that this was purposeless.
As far as it seems, behind the physical, internal, and psychological organism (which is even more internal), there are still further abilities and possibilities, secret forces and characteristics that must be discovered in us.
As the human once emerged from being an ape, so the human should have something else in its internal development. We are going towards it and the wisdom of Kabbalahexplains to us how to develop it within ourselves.
Today humanity has already reached a feeling of a final confrontation in its mutual relationships, and this must be solved because the constant deepening of confrontations between nations and peoples is very primitive, limited, closed and doesn’t permit us to break out of the gigantic “pot” of our world.
So the same drive that today dominates over larger and larger masses will bring us to a solution of this problem. We see according to the pervading depression in the world, according to the need for drugs, according to the wars and endless disorder, that humanity is seeking an escape, but doesn’t know what to do.
People are again turning to religions and don’t find anything in them, which means that an opposition is appearing among the masses themselves.
This is a search for a solution to the problem. It is deeper than freedom or lack of freedom. In other words, if I see some kind of purpose ahead of me that provides no freedom, I will agree to it; and if I don’t see it, then this is already the end.
But how much this goal is connected to freedom, we don’t know. In fact it is always connected to freedom, but today we cannot understand what this is.
According to Kabbalah, if you want to be free, you must stop being concerned about going deeper into yourself and musts begin to work outside of yourself, for the sake of others.
And when instead of being concerned about yourself, you begin to be concerned about others, instead of loving yourself, you love and feel them, and they become your only source of concern and love, your thoughts and drives, then you will be free. Free from what? Free from yourself. It is only in this case that we have a possibility of exiting ourselves.
Otherwise we are always deceiving ourselves, claiming that we are not egoists, we are free and things like that. Since the ego encloses us within the general “pot,” it is natural that it is the slave master here.
