Who Is The Wisdom Of Kabbalah Meant For?

laitman_254_01Question: Can we say that the wisdom of Kabbalah you are disseminating is called “the popular wisdom of Kabbalah,” which means the wisdom of Kabbalah that is suitable for everyone?
Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah is indeed meant for everyone because today this wisdom is gradually becoming vital for all of humanity. We are trying to make it popular just for beginners. And then our courses bring a person to study for many years and thus to attain very high levels of development.
Our teaching is based only on authentic Kabbalistic sources: The Book of the Creation written by AbrahamThe Book of Zohar written 2000 years ago by Rasbi, the writings of the great 16th century Kabbalist the Ari, and the writings of the last Kabbalists who are close to us in their system and writing style Baal HaSulam and Rabash.
The wisdom of Kabbalah is the revelation of the upper force to man in this world. Each of us can discover the whole creation by studying the wisdom of Kabbalah correctly, including the upper force that manages it. The upper force or the Creator is nature on its higher level where the whole plan, the whole thought of creation, is.

Clearing The Way To Unity

Laitman_931-01The Torah, “Numbers” 11:18 – 11:20: And to the people, you shall say, ‘Prepare yourselves for tomorrow and you shall eat meat, because you have cried in the ears of the Lord saying, “Who will feed us meat, for we had it better in Egypt.” [Therefore,] the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat.
You shall eat it not one day, not two days, not five days, not ten days, and not twenty days.
But even for a full month until it comes out your nose and nauseates you. Because you have despised the Lord Who is among you, and you cried before Him, saying, “Why did we ever leave Egypt?”‘”
The Creator promises to feed the children of Israel with their ego saying: “first it will seem good to you, but when you reach a state that you cannot overcome the ego, it will begin to overflow on all sides, and you will look for a way to restrain it and will not find an answer, and the ego will begin to manage and control you. Thus, reluctantly you will advance towards death, suffering,, and illness and will see how your children hurt themselves and die before your very eyes. You will not be able to escape anywhere! Everything that is dear to you: your parents, your children, and your grandchildren will suffer terribly for a very long time. They will wish to die but will not be able to. This is what your ego will do to you.”
The Prophets said that righteous women will cook their children and eat them. A person’s internal egoism will force him to behave this way. This is where we are headed and everything may happen like the Prophets said if we don’t turn to the right line in time, in the direction of connection and unity so that the MAN will begin to descend upon us.
Ascending above the ego isn’t death at all. Death is the freedom from a meaningless existence. Today many of us would gladly give up this life: it is better not to be born at all than to live this way. But a person cannot die. A person spins around in a whirlpool of great problems; he will crawl and hold on with his fingernails and scratch himself until he bleeds, but he will not be able to do anything with himself. He will dream of dying but to no avail.
When he finds himself on the verge of death, under such mental afflictions, he will gradually begin to understand his egoistic nature, until he is determined to get rid of it, but it isn’t immediate and just like that. He will have to go through this road to the end because he follows it according to the method of punishments and sufferings. On the other hand, everything happens in a totally different manner along the path of the Light: the Light shines and you see that on the one side there is a black abyss that swallows everything, and on the other side there is the Light. Along the path of suffering, on the other hand, there is no Light, you don’t see anything but great emptiness full of sufferings and you want to die every minute because wholeness seems like a great gift to you.
Therefore, the Creator’s answer to the request to feed the people meat is very hard: you will continuously eat meat until you are sick of it and then you will come to your senses. This means that you will follow the path of suffering until you understand that your egoistic life is death itself, and the Creator that you abhor is the attribute of love andbestowal. Try to change and choose one of the two: either the path of the ego or the path of love.
For the first time in history we are at this crossroad. We see how the world’s natural, bonded, internal, anti-Semitism is revealed. The nations of the world will all begin to hate us instinctively without exception. They will oppose us, thus baring their teeth like wolves. It isn’t their will but the doing of the upper Providence that operates through them. It isn’t aimed at anything but only at our ego. If we change it to the attribute of love and bestowal we will see only good loving people before us.

Seventy Sages: A System Of Mutual Connection

laitman_933The Torah, “Numbers,” 11: 16-17: And the LORD said unto Moses: ‘Gather unto Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tent of meeting, that they may stand there with thee.
And I will come down and speak with thee there; and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.’
The Creator reassures Moses that the rage will not be poured unto him alone and that he will not carry the burden of the people by himself but that it will be shared by all the elders who will come in direct contact with the people, while Moses will teach the seventy elders and govern all the tribes by them.
The point is that when egoism begins grow inside us there is a need for a whole structure of connection with the Creator and all our modification and our improvement comes down to establishing it. In a family, for example, everything is managed by the head of the family; in an apartment building everything is managed by the condominium association; in a village there is a small managing board; in the city there is the municipality, and in a state thousands of people are involved in it, which means that the bigger our egoism grows the greater the need for the mutual connection between all the people and the upper force, the Creator.
If very large egoism is revealed among the people, the people begin to complain by turning to Moses: “We don’t want to advance; we would rather go back to the animal level. Take us back to Pharaoh and take the Creator.” It is one of the two: either Bina orMalchut, either money or the Upper Light.
This is the reason that there is suddenly the need for coordination because there has to be a conductor that connects Moses and the people. In this case the seventy sages, which is a whole system of mutual cooperation, are between them.
And I will come down and speak with thee there; and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee and will put it upon them… this means that the elders will ascend spiritually and thus will be able to be totally connected to each other.
They are able to take the upper Light and divide it to seventy parts (which means sevenSefirot: Hesed, Gevura, Tifferet, Netzach, Hod, Yesod, Malchut; in each if which there are ten Sefirot, which is a total of seventy), and to lead them to the people and show the people that they should unite and connect.
Seventy sages actually set the example for connection and unity: they are all different and opposite from one another as seventy spiritual roots. Eventually, like roots in the ground, they absorb all the people that stem from them in a chain reaction downwards. This is the reason that the seventy sages/seventy spiritual roots can set an example and strengthen the unity of the nation.
In the past, the Sanhedrin composed of seventy sages governed the state and thanks to the unity between them they could reach a consensus.
Everything that exists in the spiritual roots is reflected in the corporeal world. Therefore, there is this connection both in our souls and in our spiritual covenant.
There is the concept of a nation in each of us: first there is all of humanity, then the nation of Israel, and then its division to the Levites, the priests, the seventy sages, and Moses.  We all have to be equal in this schema and to put it together between us in the corporeal world so that we will understand that it exists inside us.

We Are All Autistic In Some Way

Laitman_032_01Comment: I sometimes meet parents whose children have been diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum and the parents refuse to accept it. But the child needs a different approach and the parents have to change their attitude.
Answer: I don’t think this is necessary. I observe today’s childrenand I actually don’t see any of them behaving normally according to a scale on which 100 points would be considered normal behavior. We are all abnormal in some sense and in each of us there is a diversion of 10% – 20% up or down the scale.
At least 20% of our society finds it hard to manage to work in the framework of social communications. Unfortunately, today’s society doesn’t allow a person to develop properly and to feel good, to find the answers to questions and not to be shy about asking them. We become introverted and thus build ourselves by withdrawing into ourselves more and more as if inside a cocoon. The result is a  “normal” human being.
I believe that minor autistic attributes in children that have been diagnosed by the scrutinizing eyes of experts should not be highlighted in a child who lives in a regular environment. He will gradually adjust himself to it and will find his place in society if he is treated in a pleasant, friendly manner under its more or less right influence. Therefore, this isn’t a problem for hidden autistic people and neither for us.

Empirical Attainment Of The Wisdom Of Unity

laitman_939_01When we unite, our desires that are so different, opposite, and distant from each other merge into one single desire.
It turns out that on the one hand, we are completely distant, but on the other hand, we united and are therefore beginning to reveal the single force of nature.
This occurs precisely because we have huge egoism, but above it we are trying to come to unity.
The wisdom of Kabbalah is revealed only to those people who possess a special sensitivity, who simultaneously feel both their disconnection and their unity. In this way, it will gradually be revealed to everyone in the world.
It is such a joy to see how our Kabbalistic groups are springing up around the whole world. Many people are coming to study and want to learn about the method of connection. Year by year, humanity is growing more confused, losing its purpose, despairing like a small child who got lost, went astray, and now does not know where to go.
In the meantime, we are understanding more and more clearly what a unique method we have at our disposal. We only need to implement it on ourselves and offer it to all of humanity so that they too will unite and feel themselves at a higher level of existence because everyone will become one whole.
We still have a lot to learn about it. Do not forget that we learn this wisdom from nature, not only from books. We need to implement the connection between ourselves as a counterweight to the egoism that separates us. We are like research scientists, revealing this method empirically.
A Kabbalistic group is a laboratory where we conduct an experiment on our own selves, year after year, lesson after lesson, registering all the details of the process that we are undergoing.
Only in the past year or two have we gotten closer to the phase of direct implementation. Before that, we only studied the system: how it is connected in an ideal manner, that is to say, the system of the upper worlds.
In essence, the upper world and the lower world are in the same place. But when we are divided, we refer to our world as the material world. When we unite, then we feel a different reality, a harmonious one, connected by a single force.
All of nature becomes one organism, which is called the revelation of the Upper Force—the only force that manifests inside us, since it cannot be revealed somewhere externally, outside of the connection with us. This signifies the revelation of the Creator to His creatures in accordance with the condition of equivalence of form.

An Unchangeable Law Of Nature

Laitman_707The Creator is the higher general law of nature. It is described in the Torah how Moses would shout when he turned to the Creator, but there was nobody to whom to turn. As it is written, “A voice calls … in the wilderness” (Isaiah 40:3).
In general, we convey our images, impressions, and our mutual relationship with the Creator exactly the way we would convey our anger to a malfunctioning computer.
However, in fact, the higher power is an unchangeable law of nature, and so it is written, “He issued a decree, which will not change” (Psalms 148:6). So, there is no one to whom to turn except yourself!
There exists an immutable program within which we are found, and we must work within it. Otherwise, we strive and take pains until we reach an awareness of how to continue to go on.
Nothing will change for the better if we don’t work on ourselves to reach a good connection with others and, moreover, with everyone! Neither good relationships in the family nor even with all people will help us. Egoistic alliances will not help here; everything must be absolutely altruistic.
We need to work beyond of ourselves, outside of all egoistic calculations. That is how we hold onto everyone, only with altruistic connections.

The World In The Balance

Laitman_077Question: It says that a person “judges the whole world to the scale of merit.” How can one person affect the whole world?
Answer: One person can affect the whole world because he connects to the whole world and wants to judge the world favorably. In spirituality every individual is as important as the general, according to the law that the general and the individual are equal.
Question: If a person listens to your lessons regularly, he is full of love for everyone, and so it is clear that he judges the world favorably. On the other hand, another person may tip the scale against the world. What will happen to the world? Who will win?
Answer: The world is judged by the majority. This is the reason that we have to try to have as many people who want to reach the love of others as possible.
Question: What gives you the power and the patience to continuously teach people about connection, unity, and love? You are ever optimistic and you don’t feel despair by what happens in Israel and all over the world.
Where do you draw your optimism from? What makes you so sure that a person can tip the scale in the world’s favor? Doesn’t it worry you that everything around us may suddenly collapse?
Answer: It does worry me because I don’t want people to suffer and bring about pain and afflictions unto themselves and the whole world. But I do understand the situation they are in and I try to explain things to them over and over again.
It is like working with small kids: no matter how difficult it may be, you cannot just abandon them. This is the reason that I explain things patiently to them over and over again. It all stems from love, as it says: “Love will cover all sins.”

The Proper Education For A Person

laitman_538Question: What is this “proper education?”
Answer: The proper education is the integration of a person in the right environment that gives him a line of action and a direction toward the future state.
He always needs to see his next state in the environment. His next state pushes him forward, awakens, encourages, and pushes the desire to be like it. In an environment, it is easier for him to be changed.
Educators create an atmosphere for the little man in which all of his feelings—including shame, fear and so forth—push him to become like the environment, and so all the units from which the entire little childish society is composed are correctly gathered into a harmonious group, and this is their next state.
A harmonious group is a group in which the egoistic person is reshaped into a social person, and he begins to understand that he is found in absolute, mutual cooperation with the surrounding society, and only through mutual cooperation like this can he provide for everything that he needs in a good, correct, and convenient form.
The person puts pressure like this on his ego when he wants to succeed in something since each one of us has some kind of personal goal. It is possible to do this only in an appropriate environment with which he needs to be in good contact. This means that an egoistic goal attains something through altruistic actions.
Good contact is the right mutual cooperation with others. I am for them and they are for me, and that is how we help each other to attain something important for everyone.

The Method Of Good Connection

laitman_214You and I are living in a special time when the world is beginning to feel more and more united. The only problem is that these connections are negative rather than positive. Meanwhile, we feel our complete dependence on each other, which is beginning to worry and irritate everyone.
If the dependence is not a kind one, then such connection brings only problems, as it is written, “the unity of criminals is to their own and the whole world’s detriment.” If people do not correct themselves and their relationships, it is better for them to separate and keep their distance from each other.
All of this started in ancient Babylon where egoism developed to such an extent that people began to hate one another. Consequently, many languages arose. Egoism erupted for the first time and separated people. Before then, they all lived as one nation where everything was shared.
However, suddenly they felt disconnected and a belonging to different communities, families, and nationalities, and therefore they could not continue to live together. From then on. the science of Kabbalah appeared.
One sage named Abraham, who lived in Babylon, revealed that we cannot resist our connection. People definitely will be connected, and we will not succeed in distancing ourselves from each other. However, we should know how to unite correctly, regardless of the egoism that grows with every passing day. Thus, the science of Kabbalah appeared, and it is the method of good connection between people.
Kabbalah states that first we need to correct ourselves and our relationships with each other. Then, everything we do will be to our benefit.

At The Home Stretch In History

A Miserable Lot
Everything that happens in the world happens solely in order for us to reveal the true world, in which we all exist. In essence, everything that is depicted outside of a person’s desire, when one sees inanimate, vegetative, and animate nature, and other people—all of that is the Creator’s manifestation before the person. But a person does not feel this or understand what is wanted from him. Consequently we are going through a quite lengthy and painful process in history, just so that in the end we would ask ourselves the question about life’s meaning: what is all this for? Who benefits from all this? Who do I please? What secret lies hidden in our existence?
We see logic and meaning in every cell, in the oneness of nature, in the relationship of all its parts, but we find no logic in our own existence. A person, who is the “crown of creation,” is also the one who suffers the most of all created beings. We possess a developed mind and feelings, but yet we act like the biggest spenders and squander all our potential for mutual interactions.
Moreover, even when we realize this, we cannot do anything about it. Our wretchedness is amazing: a person knows when he does something stupid that will bring harm to him and others, but he is unable to change anything.
For example, a glutton cannot hold back from his favorite foods and loses control, all the while understanding perfectly well how horrible he will feel later. We face the same trouble with all types of pleasures, great and small.
Throughout history people have been asking themselves if there is any way out. Is it possible to enter a more mature, a more “solid” state? Is it possible to avoid being so miserable and lowly? We realize our lowliness and still we follow it, and today is always like the day before. We close our eyes and go with the flow…
Facing the Issue Head-On
At this point we definitely need to say a big thank you to Kabbalists. They suffered just like many others, but they succeeded. They were able to discover that this whole miserable life is meant to bring us to the key solution.
After all, it cannot be that our life would flow from birth to death in such an absurd existence. It cannot be that such wise nature would create a creature that is so developed and at the same time behaves in such a despicable manner. This discrepancy of our abilities and actions is too striking.
Moreover, nature itself pushes us into an abyss. Maybe I want to act differently and be a different person. If I planned on my own and programmed myself, I would act differently—certainly better than “destined” by nature or the Creator.
When we reach this realization or understanding, it indicates just one thing: the need to solve the question posed. Therein lies the source of understanding life, success in life, and success beyond the limits of its passing frames. It’s unlikely that it is limited to our “protein” existence for 60-70 years.
The Science That Leads Us Through Life
People who asked this question found that the world and the human beings here truly have an ultimate goal: to reveal the single force that sends us everything. It fully includes the whole universe and “plays” with it in order for us to truly wish to reveal it.
Meanwhile, all throughout history only some individuals learned about the opportunity to reveal the Creator. Nonetheless the number of people who ask the right question is growing. And these people are telling us that this is the only productive task of a person in this world from the moment he matures and realizes who he is.
As children, when we are 6-9 years old, we also asked the question about life’s essence and meaning. Maybe we didn’t ask adults, our parents, these questions, but they were there.
Starting from an early age, children need to receive an upbringing that explains how to exert constant effort to reveal the upper force, which influences us constantly, brings us life, and leads us through everything that occurs on the path.
Throughout history people made great efforts to reveal this force. They found a whole system of gradual acquaintance with it and called this method “the science of Kabbalah,” which literally means “the science of receiving.”
It explains how a person in our world can receive revelation of the force that influences him and demonstrates to him the whole picture of reality.
According to the words of Kabbalists, one needs to engage in this science particularly incessantly, and lead one’s whole life in it so that he attains the upper force in the time that is allotted to him. One needs to attain it to the point of encountering it in all its details.
Everything else in life should be used only to provide for the bare necessities—to the same extent that animals care for themselves. There is no point to exert more than necessary into the material existence—only as much as is needed to exist rationally.
This does not mean that we need to live in caves and wear animal skins. If we do not exceed the “survival bar” and dedicate all our effort to revealing the Creator, rising to His degree of eternity and perfection, then it goes without saying that we will not do silly things and pursue excesses of the material world. If we limit ourselves to simple existence, we will give all our strength to our true purpose.

The Middle Way In Educating Children

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Is it harmful for a child when a parent doesn’t create the right environment for him and doesn’t explain to him what happens in the outside world, which means that he doesn’t act as a mediator between the child and this world?
Answer: If I isolate my child in very rigid frameworks and put a leash on his neck and only thus show him how he should act, I don’t allow him to develop. He will grow up to be a very narrow-minded person who does only what is required of him and is not concerned about anything else as long as everyone leaves him alone.
But if I keep him in a vacuum and don’t give him any guidelines, he becomes even more miserable because he looks for something to do. In that case he is prone to internal outbursts and strong pressures that appear in a person in the form of undesirable actions and outcomes at every age.
Therefore, both methods are totally unacceptable. There has to be a middle way according to which I give my child the right guidelines and tell him what is what and give him examples. He sees his parents as a role model of what we expect of him.
What is more, in a healthy society this example is given not only by his parents but also by others around him, like his neighbors, relatives, people at school, and friends. Thus, having no other choice, he tries to form and internally embody everything he sees around him.

How Do We Win The Love Of Humanity?

laitman_228Comment: Today anti-Semitism has changed its face. If before it spoke about Jews, now they speak principally about their nation. The Second World War and the Nazi regime put into question and challenged the idea of anti-Semitism, because now anti-Semitism is identified solely and only with Auschwitz, Buchenwald, etc.
Answer: This doesn’t bother anyone. There is no problem in repeating the same scenario that existed at the time of the Second World War. That anti-Semitism is now directed against the nation of Israel is basically only a cover. After all, we see how among all the nations of the world, under this mask, speeches and taunts are taking place against the Jews that live there.
Comment: But today nobody can proclaim with pride that he is an anti-Semite anymore.
Answer: Soon this will also be popular, and all kinds of aristocrats will elevate their image with this. There is no difference between anti-Semitism and hatred towards the nation of Israel. Everything depends only on one question: is this a political or social problem? They are connected together.
Comment: In the year 2014, an additional international poll was conducted regarding the attitude towards the nations of the world. Among a multitude of questions, it was proposed to say which nation is the biggest danger to the world. Israel overtook Iran in most of the items and found itself in first place!
Answer: I am happy to hear this. People subconsciously understand from where the force that is prepared to change their future is derived. This is very good; this says that it is possible to explain to them why such an inner unconscious determination exists in them. When I raise this subject in my lectures abroad, I feel that people are beginning to understand what sums up their special attitude towards Israel and the Jews.
In fact, very few people in the world think about the nation of Israel and about what is happening there. For a person who is living somewhere in a remote settlement in Russia, America, or Europe, this nation generally doesn’t matter. He is not a political person but a simple citizen, so his attitude is not in regard to the nation, but in regard to the people. More correctly, it is not even in regard to the people, but in regard to what he regards as the cause of all his troubles and problems.
Comment: Recently the United Nations published a report about the right to conduct a war between Israel and the Gaza Strip. And again Israel was faced with the question: what is to be done? How can one explain to the world who is justified and who is to blame?
Answer: There is nothing to be done; the world will blame the Jews anyway. They can present all kinds of arguments, but the world will answer: “I don’t believe it!”
Question: In Israel, on the political level, there exists what is called a “public relations department.” If you were to manage this department, what would you explain to the world?
Answer: I would explain to everyone the mission, the role, of the Jewish people: Why it was created, why it exists. The world needs to know that among the many billions who have lived throughout humanity, a special group of people appeared that rose above the laws of physics and nature; they have a special destiny and they constantly demonstrate the possibility of connection and union to the world, either correctly or incorrectly. This group shows the world what it must attain, even though it isn’t found on this level itself.
Question: Along with this, it arouses sympathy on the one hand, and on the other hand, contempt, hatred, and a desire to annihilate it. Where does all of that come from; where must it go?
Answer: It is imperative for everyone to understand that this is not a nation but a group of people who must unite among themselves according to the natural law, “And you shall love your friend as yourself” and show everyone the right connection between them. Humanity must reach this state, and then it will begin to rise to the next dimension. This world is finite, limited in its existence, and our senses have already exhausted themselves. We must rise to the next level.
This is talked about by all the religions that are derived from the wisdom of Kabbalah: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The prophets predicted this, and we see that everything is materializing. We must explain to the world that we are in fact an example for the whole world, even though in the meantime it has been an unsuccessful example. We must become the teachers of the world, meaning that we must unite among ourselves to provide the world with an example of how it will be possible for the whole world to do this together. It requires this and it is specifically here that the origin of the hatred towards us is concealed; it is because we haven’t brought union to the world.
If we were to succeed in showing humanity that it must live as one people with one heart, that through unity and not through ego the next level of existence which is called the Upper World is revealed, then we would win such love, such recognition, that would have no equal in the world.

Education: Does A Child Know What Is Good For Him?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: In recent years, the education of children has changed very much. In the past, parents gave instructions to their children, and if a child refused to maintain their requirements, he was punished.
Today, every parent is reconsidering his attitude toward the child, trying to build another connection with him.
This results in situations that are not entirely understandable when, for example, a young father says to a three year old child, “I don’t like giving direct instructions to a child and requiring discipline. I don’t want him to grow up carrying out what they tell him to do without question. A child knows better what is good for him, so he can decide for himself.”
However, for the most part, the child doesn’t always understand what is good and what is bad for him. What do you think in connection to this? How much are parents like these on the right path?
Answer: If parents want their child to grow up, they need to create an appropriate environment for him, a social environment in which even a three-year-old child will get particular signals from the environment, awakening in him some kind of conscious, purposeful action, and then he will develop the way they want, whereas this way, just in an empty place, in a vacuum, where the father and mother don’t require anything and don’t explain anything, the child himself doesn’t know what is what. So, from where would he get the appropriate guidance?
He necessarily must communicate. In childhood, this is the most important thing. In the first two years of life, he doesn’t feel others at all, only himself, and can cooperate mutually only with the nature of the still, vegetative, and partially with the nature of the animate. After that, an aspiration for mutual cooperation with other children appears, and sometimes with adults. Then, we must think about an environment.
So, the parents should not let it go; “He should think and do things by himself.” What does “by himself” mean? They apparently suspend the child in a vacuum. What the parents first complete for him, now friends, adults and the entire, immense world must complete.

Wars: Worldly or Spiritual?

laitman_570Question: What can the Islamic neighbors of Israel bring?
Answer: The idea is that even among the prophets it is indicated that at the end of the world, when humanity will need to rise to the next level, to the next dimension, the engine of this process will be the Arabs. This will be revealed in the end of history and they will start great wars on land, in the air, and in the sea.
Unfortunately, since all of humanity and the people of Israel bear great egoism, so the connection between them can only be egoistic. And this is what war symbolizes; with egoism there can be no other connection. So mutual connection between peoples must be discovered before their correction, realized through a process involving several wars. These could be physical wars and they could be spiritual wars. On the spiritual level they will happen much more rapidly, without blood, without destruction and reconstruction. But for this there must be leadership of this process; this is what the people of Israel need to take upon themselves.
If we can connect among us, and with this connection and union put ourselves against the whole world, that is how we will provide it with an example; then there will be wars between the forces of Light and darkness on an ideological level in the form of explanations and discussions, but not in the form of physical war. In the opposite case, this will be a long, drawn out process with much suffering. But this creates a problem; how do we reach this? The idea is not with representatives of Christianity or Islam, but only with the people of Israel, how much they can unite presenting themselves as a single complete unit and show the world an example of union. And when it proclaims this, then all of the clashes will subside.

War: A Search For Connection

laitman_624_06Question: Is war a search for connection between people?
Answer: When people cannot reach agreement between them, they don’t just distance themselves from each other, but begin all kinds of conflicts. This means that if there is not a good connection, it becomes a bad connection.
So, both civil wars and wars between nations are a search for some kind of connection, either good or bad, but all of us are egoists. We cannot determine some kind of defined general rules between us, some kind of connecting formula. and war helps us with this.
The fact that in the 20th century wars became international indicates that the entire world is searching for union because it must reach a global state, back to its roots.
Question: But humanity assumes the opposite, that war is a severing of connection.
Answer: No, along with this, some kind of particular transformation of order happens. We Jews, unfortunately, are a type of egoist such that we still are not ready to move from ego to union immediately.
The connection between all of the peoples who are in conflict must be discovered as a result of our work. If the people of Israel won’t show an example of connection and union, then only one thing is left: war. Then, all of the people blame us that all of the wars in the world happen because of the Jews. And this is correct because we aren’t making it possible for them to unite among themselves. This is because the glue that connects all of humanity together, which is the characteristic of bestowal and love, is only found with us.

The Method of Revealing The Creator

laitman_934The whole science of Kabbalah is meant for us to reveal where we are in actuality. After all, we exist in a certain reality that is unfamiliar to us. That reality is hidden from us since we hide it with our own corrupted qualities.
In other words, the correction of our qualities and the revelation of true reality are one and the same. To the extent that we correct ourselves, true reality is revealed more and more, until we reveal the true state where we are in adhesion with theCreator.
This is why the main article, which we have to realize in practice, is Baal HaSulam’s article, “There is None Else Besides Him,” from the book Shamati:
It is written, “there is none else besides Him.” This means that there is no other force in the world that has the ability to do anything against Him. And what man sees, that there are things in the world that deny the Higher Household, the reason is that this is His will.
Therefore, we see that we are opposite to the Creator, in a certain concealment that separates us from Him, and we need to remove this concealment. Everything that happens to us in this concealment is given to us on purpose as an exercise by the Creator in order to help us remove this concealment.
The removal of the concealment consists of our correcting ourselves in accordance to the Creator’s qualities, and due to this, the concealment fades. In other words, I take on the concealment, and then there is nothing that stands between me and the Creator. This is how I relate to the entire world.
Therefor, “world” in Hebrew “Olam,” comes from the word “Alama,” which means concealment since it conceals the Creator, and I must make it a means of revealing the Creator.
But how? I don’t know how to approach the world, too many factors influence me. I don’t know what to do inside of me so that these external influences would go away. I don’t know how to reveal the Creator through them.
In order to direct ourselves properly, we are given a ten—ten friends. If I work correctly with them, I learn through them, together with them, how to correct my attitude to them so that the connection between us becomes a circuit so that we become so connected that there is no distance between us.
Every time I try to unite with them strongly, I direct myself more and more to a willingness to reveal unity. The more I unite with the ten, the more my inner vessel (Kli)—perception, thoughts, intention, in the mind and the heart—becomes more and more appropriate to understand what the Creator is and what that special reality is. Out of darkness and lack of understanding and feeling, gradually, I begin to form Him.
The Creator has no form. I don’t know what it is, and it is a good thing that I don’t know. I cannot know since there is no Creator in relation to a creature. I need to create Him. I build Him from my relationships with the friends. That’s why it is written, “You created Me.” The Creator in Hebrew is “Bo-Re - Come and See.”
The most important thing for us is to realize that there is no Creator without a creature, and we build Him from a correct connection between us. If we can unite mutually with each other as one man with one heart in the given circumstances in such a way that there is no distance between us, we will reveal the first form of the Creator.
Then, the distance between us in the ten will increase suddenly, and we will feel distant from each other, hatred, disdain, and impatience. Again, we will need to work on this in order to annul this distance.
Rabash instructs us as to how to do this: everyone considers himself a zero in regard to the others. Everyone must be equal. Everyone, except me, are the greatest of the generation, and I am included in them as the lowest. I do everything for them and pray for them, since the prayer of many is the prayer for many, and only this prayer is accepted by the Creator.
If every member of the ten acts in this manner, we annul the distance between us once again, which is common for all. We unite again in one desire, one thought. I don’t feel myself or others. I feel us as something completely unified, as ten drops that flow together into one.
In this manner, we achieve a sensation called the revelation of the Creator on the second degree. As soon as we achieve this, immediately, we begin to draw further away from each other. Our egoistic desire suddenly will burst out from within, and we will hate each other with such mutual hatred as we never experienced before.
Thus, the attitude with which we work between us starts from a state called Mount Sinai, the mountain of hatred, and again we will learn how to annul this mountain, to rise over it to the next degree and remove the separation between us, thus revealing the Creator on the third degree, and so on, every time more and more.
Every time, we will feel that we are revealing a new world, a new reality. The reality that we thought was true earlier changes from our external to our inner reality.
This doesn’t mean that our world that we perceive in our five corporeal senses disappears. What disappears is its control or independence, and we begin to reveal that, truly, there is none else besides Him.
As we learn from the section on “Perception of Reality,” we begin to perceive all of reality that is outside of us more and more through our inner reality that we control and is part of us, although seemingly it exists outside.
Our entire work is called “There is none else besides Him” since we need to work only above the unity. We will talk about how to achieve trepidation, and through it, faith, and from faith, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” and then “Love your Creator.” All of these are degrees of unification, revelation of oneness, revelation of the fact that there is none else besides Him.
We will need to go through this process in order to achieve revelation of the Creator at least on the first degree, and His revelation always occurs in the form of “There is none else besides Him,” nothing except this one governance that prevails in the world. We unite with Him as one, and there is no difference between the Creator and us. All of this leads to a unity that is called “a drop of unity.”

The Only Good Activity

laitman_943The Torah, Numbers 11: 7-8: Now the manna was like coriander seed, and the appearance thereof as the appearance of bdellium. The people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and seethed it in pots, and made cakes of it; and the taste of it was as the taste of a cake baked with oil.
Humans are a part of the animate world. Many scientists affirm and verify this with their research.
Even though human society is distinguished by science, culture, and education, it is impossible to say that this is found above the level of the beast. We live, as it is said, “according to concepts and ideas.” But the concepts we have are basically those of a beast, since we use absolutely the same methods as they in educational social and other aspects.
Comment: But this declaration arouses much opposition among people of faith.
Answer: I understand them, but I don’t think that a nightingale does anything less well than some musician, who may have a completely distorted view of human relations.
Art has no connection to the transcendence of a person! It is simply a gift that is given by nature that a person manifests. It is no more than that.
Together with this he can also invoke murder and fanaticism, expressing his point of view in a beautiful language. For example, the famous composer Wagner was consumed by hatred not only of Jews, but also to all of humanity.
So both physicists and poets, as well as those who work for the sake of war and those who work for the state police, rest assured thinking that they are above the beast.
Whereas a bird performs its natural function and certainly doesn’t harm anyone, just as a lion that preys on other animals doesn’t harm the environment because it functions as an ecological “janitor.”
Nature is a complete system, and it is necessary to approach it as a whole, without exception of the human being and without claiming that his apparently multifaceted activities on Earth go beyond the limits of ordinary nature. The only thing that goes beyond its limits is when he uses his ego to cause harm to himself and others.
So we differ from ancient people only from our greater negative aspect. Today this is already gradually being revealed, and I think that soon people will begin to agree with me. This is even though I still remember those times in Russia when there was a fear of suggesting such a thing, for this was against the concepts of progress and the bright future of the nation.
So it was thought that they were going “ahead of the world” both in the realm of ballet and the building of missiles and in the area of armaments. In general this was considered something of which to be proud.
But the idea is that all of this is attained by our ego and therefore only harms humanity. If we want to do something good, in our inventory there is only one good activity, raisingMAN.
Raising MAN is the elevation of desire to bestowal and love, connection and union. And we must act in this direction, for the Upper Light that created us arrives in response to theMAN.
Besides this, it also created the ego in us so that with its help we would again ask for additional Upper Light. And when the Light descends upon us in answer to our desire, then it will begin to transform the ego to mutual benefit.
Then we will feel only pleasure in all the phenomena in life, in all the tastes, in every possible thing. About this it is said that the taste of the manna was “as the taste of a cake baked with oil.”

Work In The World Of The Creator

Question: If the Creator created everything, in what way is our work summed up?
Answer: Right, if everything comes from the Creator and He does everything, if He arranged this small theater, does it mean that we don’t exist as independent people but only seems that way to us?
I feel that I exist according to the degree of my detachment from the Creator and His concealment; or the opposite, to the degree of His concealment, I disappear. I become “transparent.” I feel how everything passes through me, and I myself don’t exist at all.
In this manner, I exist only because the Creator is concealed. So, how can He be revealed? The creation would simply disappear. There would not be anything that really exists besides Him, and, in spite of it all, according to the plan of creation, I can acquire independence and discover the Creator on condition that, before this revelation, I act like Him. In other words, I acquire particular characteristics of the Creator thanks to which He can be revealed without erasing me from the picture of the world, and then I and He become one.
I Am Independent; We Are United
Now, I must say thank you very much for the concealment, for only by means of that can I acquire the characteristics, thoughts, desires, and actions of the Creator. Within the concealment, I want them to be revealed in me, to be born in me.
To this degree, the Creator can be revealed. This will happen according to the law of equivalence of form. In this case, I don’t erase Him from the picture. Rather, He is revealed this way, and I am not erased. I exist independently, and at the same time, He and I are mutually connected, similar, adhered. It may even be with a singular characteristic, but we adhere together.
This action is to be implemented with each one of our desires so that resembling the Creator is entirely a great, internal selection by the person in mind and heart, in thought and desire. This is what is still to come for us.
Behind the Friend, the Creator
We achieve this with the help of Kabbalah when we implement the study, the theoretical basis, within a group, in a group of ten. We gather and try to be together. We complete each other. We agree with each other. Another way of saying this is that I need to build a mutual relationship with a friend that is identical to that with the Creator.
Through this exercise, we develop the right approach within us, and our efforts in work with the friends attract the Light that reforms.
I try to behave with the friends as I do with the Creator, as if He is standing behind each one of them, as if it only seems to me that it is a friend, but in fact, “There is none else besides Him,” and through the friends, I demonstrate and show different forms of behavior all of the time. However, I remove these coverings and say that everything is for the best. I must overcome them, rise above them. I need to relate to the Creator as loving and beloved.
If I make this effort and try, then I awaken the Light that Reforms, and it corrects me, corrects my characteristics so that they truly will be like His, and within them, I will be like the Creator.
Theory Lacks Power
We need to think about this and try to implement it after that. The main thing is specifically the realization and implementation. Believe me; it is possible to read and talk about it for years without understanding anything because of the lack of implementation.
The wisdom of Kabbalah is a practical wisdom, and so it is written, “… we shall do and we shall hear” (Exodus 24:7). We will do this actively, and then we will understand. In other words, we will acquire the characteristic of Bina (Intelligence) and feel what it is talking about.
