Play The Game Of Bestowal

Dr. Michael LaitmanI perceive the image of reality exclusively through the prism of my egoistic desire. It seems that there is a certain reality outside of me. As for me, I feel as being a solid body occupying a certain volume.
I am being affected by heat and cold, gravity, wind, waves, and many other factors. Thus, I feel a certain reality outside of me, albeit only when its effects manifest on my body. The source itself is out of my reach. Right next to me, there could be a doomsday going on, but if it hasn’t dropped into my field of view, I don’t perceive it. Who knows how many dimensions surround me and what grand events are taking place in them? I simply don’t have receptors for it.
I live in my reality, among multiple other realities existing parallel to each other. Similarly, two waves pass through one another without any contact since they are transmitted in different ranges. So do I, among multiple worlds, live in my world, in the part of the whole I am able to perceive.
But a moment arrives when I start feeling my world as narrow and small. I suffer living in it. And then I am brought to a group, a guide on the path, and the instructions and booksso that I may experience all the other worlds which I do not yet perceive despite the fact that I am in them. All in all, this wisdom is called Kabbalah, the science of perception, sensation, and revelation.
The reality of creation on the whole is the upper force, the Creator. How do I reach it if I don’t feel it? To do so, I am told to make efforts to gradually develop my sensory organs. Otherwise, I won’t be able to work with them. I have to learn to control and manage them so that I could later explore the enormous external reality with their help.
How do we do it? Kabbalists tell us: “We discovered that it can be done by way of exercises if you practice them within the framework of your relations with the friends. They don’t sense the wide reality either, but you can start playing a game among yourselves. Begin to unite, care about each other, build up a society where everyone will motivate the others to bestow, love, and reciprocate.”
It is similar to your rising above your egoism, and even though in reality it’s all just a game and you are moved by the ego, still, the very efforts will develop new tendencies in you. Due to these new impressions, you will advance. Even if bestowal and oneness are out of reach, keep playing, act in this small world of yours.
What do we need this for? You need it in order to feel the lack, to sort out what you have and what you are missing. These new details of perception will create a certain attitude in you, and you’ll discover that you are saturated with new sensations meant specifically for the new dimension. You will suddenly realize that it’s truly possible to exist not in your world that is absorbed in receiving and consumption, but rather in the enormous outer worlds where everything is the other way around.
What does “the other way around” mean? How can I experience it? You will feel it namely by playing among yourselves. Then everyone will feel that there is a certain property outside of them, a property directed toward the others. Even if you still approach it egoistically, like children when they play their games of being race car drivers, pilots, or cowboys, which develop them, so do you advance in your life.

Playing Hide And Seek With The Creator

Dr. Michael LaitmanBaal HaSulam, Introduction to the Study of the Ten Sefirot, Item 100: The Zohar tells us that we should not even consider that the Creator wishes to remain in Providence of concealed face from His creations. Rather, it is like a person who deliberately hides himself, so his friend will seek and find him.
Similarly, when the Creator behaves in concealment of the face with His creations, it is only because He wants the creatures to seek the disclosure of His face and find Him. In other words, there would be no way or inlet for people to attain the Light of the King’s countenance had He not first behaved with them in concealment of the face. Thus, the whole concealment is but a preparation for the disclosure of the face.
This is clear to a person who can face this concealment, who focuses all his attention on revealing the Creator. The Creator is constantly before us, but there is the picture of the fictitious world between us. A person seems to see and feel different events in this life that appear to him and that seem to be operating in different directions. In fact, however, they all have one purpose: on the one hand, to evoke a person, and on the other hand, to make him face difficult problems and questions which he has to solve.
We behave in the same way with children, when we give them a game and call it play , that is, to solve a certain problem. It turns out that a child needs to be given a certain obstacle that he should overcome and a little push so that he will move forward. The desire to advance and to solve the problem should be ignited in a person, which means that he should be pushed forward and he should be given some kind of a resistance.
He takes the urge to advance and the force of resistance and processes it internally into the right urge and resistance and thus receives the vessels to reveal the wisdom if it is about this world, or the vessels to reveal the Creator if we speak about the spiritual work.
The more we advance, the trickier these exercises become. We cannot say that they are getting harder, but rather that they are getting deeper. We have to constantly identify these exercises in the Creator’s game with us as He draws away, thus summoning anger in us, disappointment and repulsion from the friends and from the spiritual work.
On the whole, these exercises belong to the group and to the spiritual path, while in our ordinary life there are hardly any such exercises. We should understand that they will grow and spread. The depth and the severity of their threat will continue to grow and eventually we will find ourselves at the foot of a high mountain.
Here everything depends on our preparation, on the mutual guarantee between us that will help us to constantly identify the opportunities we are given, in the form of clarions to advance correctly. The solution is only in connection. Then a person can decipher every step correctly, get constant support and help, and reach the revelation of the Creator quickly.

Playing A Game Of Bestowal

Dr. Michael LaitmanOur mood defines the connection with spirituality, with theCreator, with the Light, the fulfillment we had in the world of Infinity. But when we aspire to a good state, we naturally think about fulfillment and forget that this fulfillment presupposes correction, the intention “in order to bestow.”
In other words, we first of all need to acquire the intention to bestow; fulfillment will follow. Hence, we are given a feeling of emptiness, lack of fulfillment, so that we focus not on it, but on the intention, meaning on fulfilling others and not ourselves.
This is needed to build within us a “neutral” attitude free from egoistic pleasure when we can use the fulfillment for the sake of others and not ourselves. Just imagine what it would be like if we were given the ability to fulfill ourselves with the upper Lightegoistically! We would dream about it all the time instead of thinking about how to fulfill others!
Hence, the upper Light is hiding. Thereby it gives us the opportunity to think about the upper fulfillment unselfishly, free from our egoism which does not distinguish the concealed spiritual pleasure. Even if I’m not exactly happy, and the friends, too, don’t seem particularly joyous, this is the only opportunity to lull my egoism and thirst for pleasures to sleep and use this empty space for building my relationship with others.
This is an exceptionally valuable help, and we have to be thankful for it! Otherwise, we would probably remain in the slavery of our egoism and wouldn’t have any chance to tear away from it. And here, I’m given a chance to search by myself and artificially, meaning not according to my desire but virtually from zero, start advertising joy, the importance of the spiritual goal, of the environment, of everything that I lack!
I myself awaken this joy and importance, build them artificially, and bring this into my environment. I act like a child who plays with a toy and thereby introduces it into his life. He pulls a toy car and hums, and it seems like a car is indeed driving and the engine is working in it.
This is how we activate the upper system with our desire. This desire—the only thing we need to reach—is our plea (MAN). We express our desire so as to realize it without any readiness from the side of our ego, without any preliminary sensation, but purely artificially. This is how we start building a new form from a zero.
We shouldn’t be ashamed of it being seemingly artificial. Surely, it’s not an authentic form in a sense that it does not derive from our previous desire. On the contrary, we should be proud of it not being our true, natural (egoistic) desire and of us playing a game of bestowal!

The Cause Of Natural Disasters

laitman_738Question: I have a question from a child: What caused the natural disasters that led to the mass extinction of animals before human beings showed up on the face of earth? Did they occur because of the selfishness of dinosaurs?
Answer: All processes are pre-determined by a pre-set program, called Beito (in its time), i.e., they are triggered by natural modifications of the matter (desire) at its still, vegetative, and animate levels.
Starting with Adam (5775 years ago) and further on, humans are able to influence matter (desire). They do it either by aspiring to be involved in the growth of the general desire, or, on the contrary, by opposing it.
Kabbalah explains to us what the developmental program of the universal desire is and how we can speed it up. To the extent of the acceleration, we can avoid the pressures of nature and feel similar to the Creator.

Mini-Model Of The Universe

laitman_934Question: It is said in The Zohar: “Happy is the one who was among the first ten in the house of meeting, because thanks to them, an assembly that consists of not less than ten people becomes complete and they are blessed by Shechina (Divinity).
After the assembly is complete, correction happens. It is written: “The greatness of the King is in the multitude of people.” So, those who follow the first ten are associated with the bodily correction, that is, with the correction of the congregation. ”
What does it mean, “the first ten followed by the entire nation”?
Answer: Any spiritual structure consists of ten Sefirot, no more and no less. By bringing together ten different properties, we form a mini-model of the universe, including the part of it that we do not know of or have any idea what it is.
The fact is that we are only dealing with our little world, but really don’t know much about it and we can’t fully understand it, not to mention the vast universe, comprising all the worlds. Therefore, it’s absolutely unimaginable to talk about the higher worlds, each of which is billions of times greater than our world.
At the same time, if we build a community of ten people that complement each other, this “vast impossibility,” fortunately, becomes very easy to comprehend. As soon as they connect with each other, the general force that embraces all the worlds starts influencing them. This force is called the Upper Light or the Creator.
By making attempts to maintain harmonious connections, staying in bestowal, and mutually complementing each other in accordance with the principle of “loving thy neighbor as thyself,” we immediately “oblige” the supreme power to impact our efforts to follow the law of similarity of properties. The upper force affects and helps us unite to the degree of our efforts to be connected.
When we comprise one system, we start feeling any commotion that happens between us: one clings to another and then connects with somebody else, and so on… In this case, we directly sense interactions among us. Suddenly, we reveal the powers and properties of the vast universe, including the higher worlds, which we currently have no idea about.
We see: “Oh, there are five worlds between us!” All of a sudden, we clearly perceive five levels, each of which is divided into sub-levels, and so on and so forth. One can explore the entire universe through the union of ten people (a Minyan) who are interconnected by complete bestowal and love. Their connection is sufficient; nothing more is necessary. This is the way we can start comprehending the entire universe.

A Successful Society

laitman_547_06In the News (theoryandpractice.ru): “An educated society is a society that doesn’t need the knowledge of experts. People in such society need no explanations about life and the discoveries about it.
“The goal of education and of studying is to attain the level on which every individual is happy in his private life and at the same time can contribute to the whole society.”
My Comment: I believe that only a system that includes integral education, which thewisdom of Kabbalah offers, can provide the answers to such questions because it gives a person some idea not only about our world but about the entire creation, about its dynamics and its goal, thus making a person happy personally and also beneficial to society.

Is Neighborliness The Remedy For Civil War?

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News(echo.msk): “Scientists claim that you need five or more close friends in order to be happy. Friends that you are not only in close contact with but those with whom you also share your worries and your moments of joy, and with whom you share common interests and hobbies.
“Is this possible in today’s realities of the gray and aggressive metropolis? The situation where neighbors living in the same building not only don’t know one another by name, but sometimes don’t even know what the people living in their building look like is very common. Indifference leads to lack of responsibility and the irresponsibility contributes to various social ills starting from poor maintenance of the building to poor maintenance of the country.
“After all, a society in which people are not connected and where neighbors don’t keep in touch and even express hostility towards one another is doomed to both internal and external destruction. It is easy to manipulate people in such a society and to direct the mass consciousness and energy to whichever direction one desires.
“Lonely people without social support who are governed by fear and panic are inclined to inappropriate actions, which in other circumstances, would never have been considered. In such a society the value of human life drops sharply. After all, it is the life of a stranger I don’t know and who even might be hostile to me. As we all know fear and distrust breeds aggression.
“Such a society can easily find itself on the brink of civil war. At such times, people are not only physically but also emotionally and morally defenseless, disoriented, and easily manipulated. This is a very dangerous situation when a person doesn’t have a friend or a neighbor by his side that he can turn to for advice or help or simply to feel secure and that he is part of a good neighborly world.”
My Comment: It is only by the systematic integral education based on the equivalence of form with nature that we can establish a connection between people, create a feeling of togetherness and a new relationship—one desire in which people feel the upper world.

The Middle Ages Or A Bright Future?

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from rg-rb.de): “The difference in income between the richest citizens and the poorest in the developed nations has reached alarming proportions and is liable to reach a level that was typical of the Middle Ages and not of developed social economies.
“Since the 1980s income inequality of citizens has been constantly growing and has reached the highest level in the last 30 years. For the purpose of reducing income inequality, it was recommended to create more jobs.”
My Comment: But the world doesn’t need workers but the opposite; there is an excess of workers that society doesn’t know what to do with all of those on unemployment benefits!
This could result in wars, through which society will get rid of the masses that have no salaried income, or society will move on to a rational state of existence, where it manufactures only what is necessary for everyone’s needs, and free time and energy is directed toward the realization of the unity and connection between people. There is no other solution!

Instead Of Boycotting: Love

laitman_568_01Question: Europe’s hostile attitude toward Israel these days scares me. In recent years there is a real boycott of Israel all around. So much so that even FIFA threatened to ban Israel from the World Cup.
Why don’t they want us? Where does all this hatred stem from that has even reached the field of sports? After all, sports always has brought nations together.
Answer: This negative attitude has been felt for quite a long time. Jews usually are not welcome anywhere. But the problem is that we don’t want to admit this. After all, if we recognized it and wanted to solve this problem, we would explore the root of this hatred. The wisdom of Kabbalah tells us that anti-Semitism stems from the fact that Jews have the key for the good and happy life throughout the world.
This is especially evident today when we learn more and more about our world and to what extent it is integrally connected and how we all are connected to one another. In this integral system, we need a special plan, the right education, that will help us establish good relations between us. Otherwise, we simply will devour one another.
Humanity is discovering the new law of integrality in the world, which means complete mutual interdependence, and humanity is despaired from the helplessness it is facing. All the systems that we built in the last three centuries don’t work.
We knew how to live in a world that was made of individualists where everyone lived on his own. But today we are discovering that we are totally dependent on one another. It is impossible to move without touching others, and the ties between nations are so tight that we need another style of life. We even cannot establish friendly relations within the family; everyone is in a conflict with others, children, parents, etc. Everything is falling apart because there is no force of connection between us, the glue that can keep us together. This force comes through a special connection according to the wisdom of Kabbalah.
The Israeli nation was established by a group of Abraham’s students that he gathered in ancient Babylon and taught how to connect and unite with one another. However, thousands of years later, the Israeli nation has lost the principles of all of Israel are friends, love thy neighbor as thyself, and the mutual guarantee of being as one man in one heart.
Only the words remain, but we don’t feel any connection between us. When we returned to the land of Israel, we didn’t build ourselves as the nation of Israel must be—united as one man.
All the nations are angry at us precisely because we are not connected by the right ties and therefore don’t set an example for others. If the Israeli nation were to establish good relations among its own people, we would feel how happiness and prosperity flow into the world, the good force of unity. This means that the Israeli nation will become a light to the nations of the world by setting an example for everyone as to how they should connect. This is the reason that, now the most important thing is to attain unity among the Israeli nation. Then, the entire world will want to follow this example. If the world demanded that Israel set an example of this method of unity every day, we would have to learn how to be that example.
Nature ties us all together, but we must turn these ties into good ties on our own. The mission of the Israeli nation is to teach all the nations of the world how to do it. The source of anti-Semitism is actually the fact that Israel doesn’t reveal the method of unity to the world.
If the nation of Israel united, all the nations of the world would feel it and learn from us. This means to be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. The world’s attitude toward Israel would change immediately from hatred to love and gratitude for the good example. People would come to us to learn how to attain unity.

Going Beyond The Limits Of Time

Laitman_197_01Time is an internal, personal, psychological, selfish option when I measure time as the difference between the time when I want something to aspire to something and when I realize that desire.I feel that time is always a lack of contentment.
If I were to receive what I wanted immediately, as soon as I wanted it—if the desire had been realized at once—I would not feel time. This is called being above time. For example, if receiving the desired happened with infinite speed, time approaches zero.
Our entire nature exists below the speed of light, and all the processes are rate limited. Because of this, we have time. After all, time, speed, and distance are related.
Theoretically, if we were to receive that which is desired at once, we would not sense time.
When I reach a state in which time would equal to zero—that is, if speed were infinite and the distance were reduced to zero—would space turn into a point? When can I perform an action, and immediately perform it, at the same moment, as soon as I wish? This is possible only in the act of bestowal, which depends on me.
If we moved away from the current connection between us in which each person receives from the other, to such communications when each person bestows upon the other and can bestow—he has something to give and the other desires to receive from him—then we would not feel time in the least.
Time is a habit. It is a purely psychological parameter, and this is talking scientifically.
In essence, what do we need if we are talking about real life implementation, about the correct management of time that is given to us? We need to know how to achieve the action of pure bestowal by which we rise to the level where we exist outside of time, space, and motion.
Indeed, if time equals zero, there is no motion and no space. Everything is located in the same place, at that point. We can reach this state if we change our attitude from reception to bestowal.

The Revolution Of The 21st Century: On The Benefit Of Integrated Society

laitman_944(Continued from “Revolution of the 21st Century: Rich Man, Poor Man”)
Question: How exactly will the relationship between rich and poor change due to the method of integral education?
Answer: Thanks to it, we will reveal the system of our interconnection. There is no alternative. To the extent to which these and others are capable, it is necessary to form the correct mechanisms of interaction.
The bottom line is that the two categories of the population receive a new profit, a new fulfillment. They reveal the upper force, life on the human degree, Adam, who is similar to the upper force. They feel that they acquire a new world that is above life and death, above poverty and wealth.
This fulfills a person, replacing former pleasures. Now, he is warmed up not by money, bank accounts, sales, and factories, newspapers and steamships. All this gives only indirect, ever-fading pleasure. Here, a person receives fulfillment directly.
Indeed, our corporeal nature is the desire to enjoy. Its true fulfillment is what we define by the term “Light.” So, the integral method allows us to fill this desire not by money, honor, and power, but by the Light, as such.
There is no replacement. Compared to this, everything else is a substitute. Well-established social relations will allow us to receive natural fulfillment that is obviously more efficient and more attractive than its substitutes, which are generally accepted today.
Question: How can a person get this Light?
Answer: He must be properly connected with others. Then, together they create a single system corresponding to the unity of the Light. The properties of this system in which a person exists coincide with the property of the Light, fulfillment, and then a person feels fulfillment in himself.
Thus, our unity is just a condition on which we receive eternal, perfect fulfillment, and due to it, we reveal life at a higher degree.
Question: So, ultimately, everything depends on our relationships?
Answer: Of course. The Light shows me that we are all in the same system. The formation of the current conditions in it does not depend on us, but now on the basis of the current situation, we must come to a decision.
I make calculations not with what used to be, but with what will be. We need to form such a connection between each other so that together we build a new society. What for? To reveal eternal life in it.
In conclusion, hatred of the rich will end when they, together with the poor, act for the benefit of a unified, integrated society.

Love And Loyalty

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Torah, “Numbers”, 5; 5-7: The Lord then spoke to Moses saying: Tell the children of Israel: When a man or woman commits any of the sins against man to act treacherously against God, and that person is [found] guilty, they shall confess the sin they committed, and make restitution for the principal amount of his guilt, add its fifth to it, and give it to the one against whom he was guilty.
Question: What is the meaning of “to commit a trespass against the Lord?”
Answer: To commit a trespass against the Lord means to love one’s self more than the Creator. The Creator has no form. It is the attribute of love that has to stem from each of us and fill the void between us. If I love someone, all my thoughts and intentions are aimed at his or her wellbeing and this is called love of others. But if instead of that love I suddenly become immersed in egoistic love, it means that instead of cultivating the general mutual love between us, I begin to think about myself.
Love of the Creator is love of the attribute of love and bestowal. But if I turn my back on this attribute, it means that I definitely l only love myself. This is called a trespass. There is no middle way in nature: It is either plus or minus; either in that direction or backward. There is no other way! Therefore, if you are not connected to this attribute, it means that you are clearly absolutely connected to yourself. This is simple human love on the corporeal level.
In fact, I love the feeling that a certain person or a certain food or music invokes in me, this feeling fills me. We, on the other hand, refer to love as an attribute, of a spiritual state! An ordinary person cannot understand that although the same thing actually happens in our world, we don’t feel it. We don’t understand it and don’t discover these possibilities inside us.

A Win-Win Game

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Our entire lives are theater. Is there some program or plan to everything that is happening to us? Is there a director of this play?
Answer: When we investigate nature, we see that everything functions in it according to precise laws of physics, chemistry, biology, and zoology. It seems that human life must also work according to particular laws. In humanity, all the individual laws of nature connect together and manage us. We are in a field of energy that moves us to a state where we begin to ask: “What is this game, where is it leading us, what are we living for and for what purpose?”
Religious people solve this problem very simply: They believe that there is a Higher Power that manages us; we don’t need to worry and think about what will happen to us.Kabbalah says that the solution is through our bringing this force out of hiding, opening our eyes and seeing the entire creation: this world and the upper world, the spiritual world. Then we begin to live in all of the worlds. From the height that we attain, we see how everything is managed and why it is necessary for it to be managed specifically this way and not another.
And in truth, we approach this because the upper force inserts us deeply into the game until we understand that If we don’t discover and know the conditions for this game, if we don’t become participants and conscious partners of the upper force, then our lives are under threat.
Question: What does it mean to win in this game of life?
Answer: Winning is possible only when we discover that this is truly a game, and we discover where it leads, what the program of the director, the upper force, is, and how to become His active performer. The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us how to do this. When we discover this game, then we see that it is the highest in the world. It is arranged according to clear and precise laws that cannot be violated and it leads us to a wonderful and sublime goal. This entire game is designed to confuse us and then awaken in us a need to discover the secret of the game of life.
The purpose of the game is to transform all of humanity so that it becomes similar to theCreator, bringing us to a state of absolute goodness, an eternal and perfect life. In the end, we receive infinite fulfillment, but on the way we must discover our complete loss, lack of knowledge, lack of understanding, the crisis that we experience today. And all of this is so that we will solve the mystery of this game.

Forbidden = Impossible

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: I watched your lecture on Monday, May 24, 2015 on the article, “The Donkey Driver.” that in my humble opinion was wonderful. I understood from your words that in the wisdom of Kabbalah it is forbidden to attain my “self” in a state of Malchut. In connection to this a number of questions arose for me:
  1. Does this mean that the goal of the wisdom of Kabbalah is for me to attain my “self” as it is found in Bina (and could it even be that the “self” of every person exists in Olam Ein Sof), and not to correct the desire to receive into the desire to bestow? So then could it be that the correction of desires is not the goal, rather it is a means for attaining my “self” (the Creator)?
  2. In this context, in the wisdom of Kabbalah is there a prohibition against attaining my “self” (a realization of the desire to attain my “self”) in a state ofMalchut (finding ourselves while in our world of desires to receive)?
  3. Is it possible to violate this prohibition, and is there another (not Kabbalistic) known way for a person to attain his “self”?
  4. What would happen to a person who, despite the ban, would attain his “self” while he is in our world?
Answer: In Kabbalah nothing is forbidden! When the word “forbidden” or “prohibited” is used, it means that it is impossible, and so it is not worthwhile to invest any effort. But in general everything is permitted, only in a different way. So go in the way that they taught you and you will attain!

Hearing In A New Way

Dr. Michael LaitmanComment: When I hear you I find myself feeling that you tell everything in a new way each time…
Answer: This happens because you are constantly changing, and it isn’t only you but also me, the world, and the general state of the people. All this allows us to feel and to hear things that seemingly we have already heard but in a totally different way.
Comment: If I read a certain book and I realize that I have already read it, I can immediately stop reading it, but when it comes to Kabbalistic writings there is a constant feeling of renewal.
Answer: There are no special renovations in ordinary literature; everything is basically superficial because it doesn’t depend on a person’s internal states. The point is that the internal states change all the time and so each time we experience everything anew, on a different level.

Jewish Holidays: A Cycle Of Correction

laitman_744Question: Why are there so many Jewish holidays?
Answer: Really there aren’t that many. Everything is derived from the fact that every day is new, every month is new, every year is new, and every hour is new for a person! These seemingly astronomical changes are, in fact, internal, spiritual. All matter results from changes among the spiritual forces that influence our world, and so changes appear among the levels of the still, vegetative, animate, and us.
In other words, the reason for all of the changes is the rotation of the Sefirot through which the Light passes. The Light influences and acts on our universe and the result is the matter in our world. So if a person wants to be connected with the entire creation, every moment is of immense value for him. Besides that, he can divide every moment within it into a multitude of moments. This means that the possibility exists for one second to come alive for him! And in this way he expands himself.
The Jewish holidays are characterized by giving us a sensation of uniqueness to every moment in time, in every Sefira that participates in the passage of Light. So every moment is unique, and especially the holidays are the general significance of a period of transition. There are three big holidays that are derived from the spiritual level: Pesach(Passover), Shavuot, and Sukkot, which are called Raglaim (feet), which are when people went to Jerusalem.
Tisha B’Av (9th of Av) symbolizes the destruction of the Beit HaMikdash (Temple), meaning the revelation of great egoism that is later corrected during all the rest of the holidays. Because of the force of Tisha B’Av, it is placed against all the rest of the holidays, so its intensity is huge.
In contrast to Tisha B’Av, at the other end of this cycle, is the holiday of Purim. Besides this, there are a few other related minor holidays: Hanukkah and Lag Ba’Omer.
We indicate the beginning of every month according to the cycle of the rotation of the moon, for our cosmic and spiritual state depends upon two luminaries: the moon and the sun. So the Hebrew calendar is constructed according to the cycles of the rotation of the sun and the moon, between which is the Earth, while the Christian calendar considers only the rotation of the sun and the Muslim calendar considers only the rotation of the moon.
The Jewish New Year is the beginning of human correction because this holiday symbolizes the birth of Adam HaRishon (the First Man), from which we begin our calculation. The birth of Adam is the birth of the human because Adam was the first to discover the Creator and to begin to resemble Him. So the beginning of the year for us is a spiritual holiday.
The goal of the cycle of the holidays is that the most “frightening” of the holidays, which is Tisha B’Av, will become the greatest holiday in the world, when all of the evil will be gathered together and defeated by the good.

We Are All One Big Family

Laitman_931-03In the News (golos-ameriki): “Turn on the TV and see one problem after another, an endless number of problems. Fear, tension, depression. The feeling that everything has gone out of control. Maharishi used to say: ‘The negativity is like darkness.’ Darkness – is the absence of light, the darkness does not need to be fought. You just have to turn on the light. Turn on the light, and darkness will go away. If you are able to illuminate your inner field of feelings and perceptions with bright light, you can say that you are a different person. Light banishes negativity. And you do not need a very large number of ‘fireflies.’ It is enough for just one percent of the population to significantly expand the field of positive. The world is currently hanging in a dark cloud of negativity. It is necessary to make an enormous effort to disperse the cloud.”
My Comment: In principle, this is what we are doing. But I think 600,000 bearers of Lightwill be sufficient for the whole world to be entirely illuminated with Light. And to begin with, dozens are enough!

The Weekly Torah Portion Naso: Counting The Attributes

laitman_557The Torah, “Numbers,” 4:21 – 4:22, 4:49: The Lord spoke to Moses saying: Take a census of the sons of Gershon, of them too, following their fathers’ houses, according to their families…As directed by the Lord, they were appointed by Moses, each man to his service and his burden; they were counted as the Lord had commanded Moses.
Question: The weekly section “Naso” begins with usual phrase: “the Lord spoke to Moses saying.” What does that mean?
Answer: When the Creator speaks to Moses He turns to the point in a person that connects him with the upper force. We always speak with the Creator through this point but we don’t hear Him. Therefore, our mission is to hear the Creator.
It says: “‘Take a consensus of the sons of Gershon, of them too, following their fathers’ houses, according to their families,” which refers to a calculation, meaning to the counting and checking of different attributes since they are all in each of us. I have to scan and organize them and to determine which I control more and which less, how they accumulate inside me into one figure, and what I should do with them. Thus, I prepare the attributes I have counted inside me for action.
