New Life #1085 – The Connection Between Love and Hate

Summary

Hatred and love develop on top of each other like two lines from which a middle lineis built. When we build the middle line, our inner software is changed. It becomes smarter and makes it possible for us to love something that we previously didn’t like. On the psychological level, concessions lead to habit and later to love. In the evolutionary process, the ego grows and our demands change in quality and quantity. The desire to receive pleasure is a kind of animal or monster insofar as it loves everything that provides it with pleasure and hates what doesn’t. Between hatred and love we begin to feel the original power of nature that created everything through these two egoistic forces. In the wisdom of Kabbalah corrections are made on another level; the person corrects the ego with the help of the upper Light. “Love covers all transgressions” (Proverbs 10:12) means that love doesn’t replace hatred but rises above it, in parallel to it. Our egoism is constantly growing, increasing in hatred so that above it we can build a greater love. The power of love can be obtained on condition that you want to crown it upon all of reality.

Sharpening The Path To The Creator

We always increasingly restrict our path in order for it to become more focused and sharp, turning into a very narrow line leading to the Creator. Then we perform only those actions that follow one after another and lead us to the goal. On this thin line begins the ladder of the degrees, the love of friends, and the love for the Creator.

How do we get to this place where this thin line begins? It is very simple. “The place” is the desire. Restrict your desire to one intention, to one goal, and you will find yourself on this thin line. The main thing is to act through the group for the sake of bestowing to the Creator, who is in the center of the group, and you will certainly walk on this line.¹

We cannot understand our heart because it is clad in multi-layered armor. The Creator is inside the heart, but we do not feel that; we feel only superficial desires. It is an unimaginable sensation when the Creator is revealed in the heart of a person and becomes one with his heart. This is the end of correction.

So far, we are very far from this state. We must scrub our heart, peeling all the layers from it in order to reveal the true, living heart. Now it has a stony armor and therefore is called “the stony heart.”²

The Ladder Of Attainment Is Constant

Question: Which Kabbalists have you already gone through and do you feel them better? What is your personal experience on this path?

Answer: The fact is that all the Kabbalists have gone through very great steps of the ladder of spiritual ascent to full attainment to fully incorporate with each other.

I am not as high as they are, so I cannot say how many each of them has passed through.

I feel my teacher Rabash the most. The most important thing for me is to hold on to him constantly. I receive the upper Light from him. Any revelation, attainment, comes to me only through him.

Above Rabash on the spiritual hierarchy is his father Baal HaSulam, then Ramchal, Ari, and other Kabbalists. But in practice, I receive the Light from Rabash. The steps of the ladder of spiritual attainment are constant.

Summary

The human experience of love and hate are determined through a part of the braincalled the pleasure center. This small part works in the interest of the ego or the desire to receive and differentiates between pleasure or love and suffering or hatred. It is said that the feeling of hatred pushes us to communicate with the upper force and understand what He wants from us. Hatred is awakened in us so that we will eventually learn to look within and correct ourselves. We can change our negative, egoistic attitudes in such a way that we will see a good world full of love. Instead of being dominated by egoism, we can manage it by changing ourselves. The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us how to correct ourselves in relation to the world. When we attribute everything to the upper force, we begin to understand that no one is hating or loving us. Instead, when we want to reach bestowal by giving to the world and the upper force, we realize that the whole system is taking care of us.

The State Of Katnut

The sin of Adam at the tree of knowledge did not affect the state of Katnut (smallness) that was already corrected before the shattering. Therefore, the upper part of the worlds of BYA, created at the birth of Adam, did not break. It turns out that the upper system around us is more corrected than us who are inside of it. Nature is more corrected than the human.

However, a person has a more elevated task: to become independent, to become a person similar to the Creator. Nature does not have such lofty goals since it consists of desires of bestowal; it is corrected.

This is what we see in our world. If it were not for people spoiling nature, it would act according to its perfect laws, which do not have any freedom of choice. This is what eventually helps us reach correction in both our world and the spiritual world.

The inanimate, vegetative, and animate nature are corrected, and only the inner system called “man” is what corrupts them. The inner part is shattered and it projects all its corruption on the external system, on  inanimate matter, plants, and animals. When we correct ourselves, then obviously the whole world will be corrected.¹

All inanimate, vegetative, and animate nature are corrected. If there were no human, the wolf would live peacefully alongside the lamb. Yet, since the human corrupted everything with his shattering, the wolf devours the lamb. It is all because of man. Without him, there are only bestowing desires in nature and the wolf can walk next to the lamb as if in the Garden of Eden, and a little child can lead them (that is, a man in the state of smallness).

After the final correction, even a grown-up man who attained the Creator will only be in bestowal in relation to others, and therefore, he will be called “a little child.”²

The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches that there is no past or future, only the present.These days, people measure the value of the past and the future according to the level of importance they attribute based on their will to enjoy. We think about what matters to us. In order to achieve full contact with reality and with the upper force, we need to work in order to connect with each other in groups of ten. When each member of the group wants to fulfill the desires of the others, a new reality above time and place is revealed. We begin to understand why the world exists and the role of humans within it. Each one begins to feel like a baby in his mother’s lap and all he wants to do is to connect to the upper system that is the source of all life.

How Do You Reach Faith Above Reason?

What is faith above reason? Within reason means according to our understanding, according to the mind of a person of this world, one’s egoism. According to it, one understands, feels, makes decisions, and acts, which is called: “according to my opinion.” Yet, above my opinion is the opinion of the upper, and it means I must exchange my opinion for the opinion of the Creator.

But I do not know the opinion of the Creator; it reaches me through my ten. If I am connected to it, then by gradually annulling myself and integrating in the friends, I will exchange my opinion for theirs. This is not just a simple exchange of one thing for another, otherwise I would become an angel, that is, a spiritual beast. I perform this action above my reason, keeping my opinion and rising above it. That is, I occupy two levels, and in the difference between them, I find the understanding of a spiritual person.

Nothing gets destroyed and nothing disappears from the person’s senses. Instead, he acquires another, additional nature of the Creator, and then obtains faith above reason. He has his reason and faith above it, and he exists between them. The Creator did not create our desire to enjoy in vain. It is the foundation that accompanies us all the time so that “The darkness will shine as light.” The darkness of my egoism, of my opinion, supports the opinion that is above it. It is from the contradiction between them that I attain the greatness of the Creator upon the background of the lowliness of the created beings.

We do not cancel ourselves and do not lose anything in ourselves. Firmly standing on both feet, we build the middle line, and only in this way do we position ourselves as a man, Adam, similar to the Creator. Everything in this created being is received from the Creator, but according to the decision of a person himself.¹

The Creator gives me an adapter that connects me with Him—it is the ten. This adapter is very complicated, but there is no choice, I must connect it and use it, no matter how many years it takes. I must annul myself or I will not connect to the group, because my plug does not fit its socket. The Creator is inside the friends and He helps me connect with them more and more until I start to reveal Him within them. I begin to work with the Creator through the friends because they are my soul and the Creator is the Light that fills this soul.

The main thing is to integrate with the environment. I then begin to receive opinions, desires, and thoughts not just from the upper degree, but from a completely new quality. There is faith above reason inside the group—a new perception, not inherent to a person of this world.

Therefore, there is no choice but to annul ourselves and enter the group, leaving behind all our experiences. We are talking about an adult with a lot of life experience and knowledge, but he makes an embryo out of himself, a zero relative to the group. When one starts receiving knowledge from it and starts growing, then on the basis of one’s previous qualities, thoughts, and desires of the former self, one builds faith above reason. One cannot be without the other.²

Real wealth is eternal. It’s not about giving things to each other but about our capacity to love others. Minimalism existed in ancient cultures as well when people preferred to get rid of property that enslaved them. Today, people are brainwashed to believe they will be fulfilled if they buy more and more. It is only by changing the method of fulfillment from receiving to giving that humankind will feel unlimited satisfaction. Real minimalism means only needing loving human relationships to feel fulfilled. The development of the qualities of bestowal and love requires group work according to the method of Kabbalah. People learn to restrict or narrow their thoughts about themselves and think more about the good of others. Although we continue to have possessions and assets, our vitality comes from our value of others and love for the whole world.
