Question: Are my desires also a test?

Answer: Your desires are the basis on which you build your spiritual Kli (vessel). There is nothing superfluous, nothing hostile in the world.

Try to see in everything the property of the Creator, His preparation, His help, meaning that which is referred to as help against you. You will then find that all of a person’s external and internal problems are needed only to recognize that it is all done by the Creator.

When you begin to agree that everything comes from the Creator, you will suddenly begin to feel your connection with Him through all these problems. I feel bad here, I feel bad there, but it is also different: the Creator does all this so that you direct yourself to Him.

It turns out that you already create the correct picture of our world and the spiritual world. So try to act this way at every moment, and you will see how everything will become manifested in you: how the picture of our world that obscures the truth will begin to dissolve. You will understand that it is all a sham, a theater that the Creator purposely portrays in front of you, and that you have to see Him through all these puppets, as He acts on you.

Why Respect A Person?

Question: What basic feelings and virtues of each person deserve respect and why are so many people deprived of it?

Answer: We need to respect only the aspirations and efforts of a person that are aimed at humanity’s benefit. Not for the good of oneself, one’s nation, or one’s family, but only for the benefit of humanity. If we respect this, we will see the extent to which a person overcomes his egoistic nature for the sake of belonging to, and sacrificing for, the entire world.

I think all people should overcome themselves, their egoistic desire. If each of us sacrifices ourselves in this way, then in response we should receive gratitude and respect from society. Everyone—the children at home, the wife, the relatives, the parents, the environment, the friends, and the whole world—should be grateful to a person and appreciate him only to the extent of his contribution to society.

A person is created in such a way that he needs the recognition of society. By this, in essence, he expresses himself, his “I.” If we make society protect a person and respond to his contribution to humanity, this will obligate everyone to be an active part of humanity. We will see from everyone only good things in relation to the entirety of human society and we will see what contribution each one makes.

Therefore, we need to establish such laws in our society so that everyone can be assessed only by their contribution to humanity and so that it is easily visible.

If we measure a person only according to these criteria, if everyone knows that this is how he is assessed, this is how he is treated, then he will have no way out. He will have to become a healthy cell in the general body, that is, a person that is as useful as possible for humanity.

From Darkness To Ascent

Comment: Sometimes you say that we do not have to go through states of darkness.

Answer: For me, darkness is a necessary state for the next ascent. We must go through it and absorb it. However, this does not mean that you have to be in darkness all the time, partaking in it, and enjoying beating yourself up.

It is necessary to experience this state correctly because you will be building your ascent on it, each time passing through two lines: left – right, left – right. This is how we make steps, left – right.

Question: When we talk about the state of darkness, do we mean a person’s spiritual world and not his attitude to the external world? Does he remain cheerful in our world and everything is good with him?

Answer: It is unlikely that he will be cheerful and feel good because the spiritual states are brighter, stronger, and more impressive than the corporeal ones. Temporary spiritual descents can last a few minutes, a few hours, a few days, and especially in the beginning, even a few months.

Therefore, it requires special work of the group on the person and the person on himself, the understanding that this is happening on purpose so that he would accumulate negative sensations and then begin filling them with light.

Question: Does the frequency of these states increase as we advance?

Answer: Yes. On one hand, the frequency increases, but on the other hand it becomes different. You begin to discern in this darkness, in the descent, what you are being trained for, like an astronaut is spun around in a special simulator, dipped under the water, dropped with a parachute, etc.

You feel this preparation that the upper light performs on you as anticipation of the future elevation above descents, the future attainment of the Creator and inclusion in connection with Him.

Thanks to the greatness of the goal and the greatness of the group, you can shorten time, but nevertheless, states of descent are unavoidable. Therefore, it is written, “The Torah will come from Zion,” meaning that the Torah, the upper Light, is revealed precisely from all the descents (Yetziot).

Hebrew—The Language For Perceiving The Creator

Hebrew is much more suitable for expressing the science of Kabbalah than any other language. It has a greater supply of suitable words that more accurately express an inner feeling. After all, the Hebrew language grew out of the science of Kabbalah. This science, its approach, the aspiration toward the Creator, created and formed the language.

Therefore, Hebrew contains all the symbols to clarify the Creator. The form of the letters, the way they are written, the grammar, everything is adapted only for the purpose of explaining the essence of the desire in which the Creator can be perceived.

There is no other language that can be compared with Hebrew in the expression of Kabbalah. Other languages do not have such properties.

It All Depends On The Goal

Question: “There is none else besides Him” is a popular religious mantra. But what is the difference between the efforts of a religious person without a point in his heart and the efforts of a Kabbalist to reveal by every action the upper force, to love it, and be connected to it?

Answer: It all depends on what goal you are pursuing: either your own pleasure or bestowal and love for the Creator through the created beings.

The question is, what is it you want from studying and realizing Kabbalah, because “to receive for yourself” will not work here. If that is your aim, then practice various spiritual techniques, meditations, and learn how to feel better. There is nothing of it in Kabbalah.

While studying Kabbalah, it is necessary to invest a lot of effort, to sweat, even to suffer, until you learn how to properly guide yourself, drawing the surrounding Light.

Is Human Life More Important?

Question: Do we have the right to perceive human life as more important than other forms of life?

Answer: First of all, we need to realize that the general system of nature is built in the form of a pyramid. It is based on an inanimate level: the whole universe, all inanimate matter, the stars and planets that exist in it. This is the bottom of the pyramid.

Then comes the vegetative part on Earth, and then higher than it is the animal part on Earth, and the top of the pyramid is occupied by the speaking level. Humans are not the animal part, not our body, but the speaking, human level in us.

Therefore, of course, human life is more important than all other forms and levels of nature, not because we desire this egoistically, but because we include all other forms of nature. If we treat nature correctly, we will correct ourselves, as well as all of nature in general.

All global natural disasters and problems—tsunamis, droughts, the harm that we inflict on nature, environmental disasters—are ultimately nothing more than a phenomenon projected onto nature by the person. Therefore, definitely, human life and its role in nature is most important.

We will find that by our own egoistic attitude toward ourselves and nature, we cause all disasters and all misfortunes both in human society and at other levels of nature: animate, vegetative, and even inanimate. If we change ourselves, then we will certainly change nature as a whole.

Therefore, we need to understand that the environmental disasters breaking out in the world today and the new ones still ahead of us depend solely on a human’s attitude to the world. They do not come because nature is suddenly out of balance. We cause imbalance in nature with our thoughts.

Good Desires

Question: Everything is manifested through a desire. The sick want to recover, but they cannot. The poor want to be rich, but they are unsuccessful. What does it mean “to desire”?

Answer: It means that I want to feel the fulfillment of what I now feel as a deficiency.

Question: Which desires come true?

Answer: All good desires come to fruition. These include desires that cause no harm to anybody and also that can be used to satisfy others in a positive way.

The rest of the desires are needed only to teach us to understand what good desires mean.
