Torah, “Deuteronomy,” 5:18: And you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife… .
Those states in which I go forward must always be directed only toward bestowal and not intended for my own sake.
A person is in a very interesting state while he is on the spiritual path. On one hand, I am alone and the entire world is inside me, as it is said, “A person is a small world.”
On the other hand, all my internal desires seem to me as characters that exist outside of me. The same applies to my friends and associates, it seems to me that they exist outside of me, and then gradually I begin to realize that they are all inside of me.
Therefore, they are my “neighbors.” And all their desires called “wives” or “their female part” (desire to receive) have to be processed by me on the level ofbestowal when I dress into them, that is, for their sake, and work on these desires.
This means that I do not want “my neighbor’s wife.” I just work on the level “love your neighbor as yourself.” This is a serious system.
The ten commandments of the Torah are on the level of ten Sefirot. The commandment “you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife” is the most serious of them because it relates to the lowest internal egoistic quality. By the way, it has nothing to do with the egoism in our world and with physical states between genders.
It speaks about the best way to direct our egoism with the intention to bestow toward the common connection between us on the upper level, where there is no division into genders. After all, men and women are desires and intentions rather than physical qualities.
