Absolute Love Or How To Find A Soulmate

Question: From the point of view of science, isn’t the love a person feels for another simply a chemical process occurring in his body?

Answer: Of course, these are all chemical processes.

Question: What is love in terms of Kabbalah?

Answer: It is love at another level. But ultimately it is realized in us in the same physical and chemical processes. Only in Kabbalah it is studied from its upper source, from where it appears in us.

In fact, everything is determined by what is called “soul affinity,” that is, how much our souls, our spiritual components, are in a close state to each other in the common system of all souls in the world. Accordingly, we become attracted to and find each other.

It seems like it is a coincidence, that there are some circumstances. It is nothing of the kind. There are no coincidences in the world. Only the upper root brings us into some kind of movement toward each other. It obliges us to pay attention to each other and get close. At what level and in what sense to get close depends on the quality of our spiritual roots.

Question: How does this spiritual convergence occur?

Answer: A person in our world does not know this. We, as they say, “sniff” each other, study each other. It seems to us that we are suitable or not. It seems to us that circumstances lead to this, and everyone says: “You are so alike, similar,” and so on. This is all the world of dolls, the world of a game. But in fact, spiritual forces, spiritual roots, determine everything.

Question: How does one search for a spiritual partner?

Answer: People will not be able to. People do not understand. We study this in the science of Kabbalah and understand how it works. But in our world, we still cannot realize it.

Question: Is love a relationship of souls?

Answer: Love is the attraction of kindred souls. But this is spiritual, ideal love.

Question: What is a soulmate?

Answer: Soulmates are those who are in very close combination in the spiritual world.

There is a common soul. In it, there are many, billions of private souls that coexist with each other in all sorts of combinations. Their combinations determine the convergence, separation, and movement, including physical, in general, all this Brownian movement between us in our world.

Question: Does the name “my other half” imply a soulmate?

Answer: This is the perfect case.

Question: What is lovesickness?

Answer: Lovesickness in our world is purely egoistic suffering because I need fulfillment and I cannot find it. “Where is my second half that will fill me?” It’s just like: “Where is my dinner that I want to eat that I’m supposed to have?” It is absolutely the same. It is also the same with sex and with all the other fillings.

Question: What should be the principle of relationships of love in terms of Kabbalah?

Answer: This is a mutual understanding, the pursuit of a common goal, in which we unite together as one. But only in a common goal.

Question: Can this goal be anything?

Answer: No, only the spiritual goal! A spiritual goal is the union of our souls. As the great English poet Chaucer wrote: “Reach the merging of our souls in the tangle of our bodies.” He laughed at this—what we want.

Question: What is the lovesickness (“suffering out of love”) in Kabbalistic terms?

Answer: It is when I want to find my soulmate, including all the other souls in the world, in order to reach a state of spiritual connection between us, when I give everything, and through them I give it to the Creator. This is called true love. Eternal.

Question: Can there be a separation between soulmates, a break in communication? Why does it occur?

Answer: I did not observe such effects in our world. We are still in a state where our world is broken, and it only just begins its approach to the spiritual, corrected world.

We will definitely enter it. The question is when? We will reach a state where we will simultaneously perform actions in our world on the basis of spiritual actions. Then, we will fall in love with the soul and unite “soul to soul” as they say. Then everything will coexist in this way. I cannot imagine that separation is possible at this state.

Question: Then separation will not exist?

Answer: No. This is eternal love!

What Should A Student Give The Teacher?

Question: What should a student give to the teacher?

Answer: A student should give the teacher his aspirations, which he will be able to raise upward and bring the student the strength to realize them.

Question: Does the teacher need this?

Answer: Why does he exist? It is only in order to help students. This is his purpose.

Question: Should the teacher evoke these aspirations in the students?

Answer: The teacher can only offer, but he cannot coerce or force. This is the work of the student himself. But the teacher is ready for it.

Why Do People Start Studying Kabbalah?

Question: When people come to the science of Kabbalah, they are afraid that the process of mastering it takes a very long time, many years. Will it ever take less time? Perhaps after some time, people will pass through all those states that we go through more quickly?

Answer: Suppose you get a diploma, hang it on the wall. And what will you do next?

Remark: Probably live infinitely.

My Comment: So you want to quickly enter eternal life? But eternal life means that you aspire to the quality of bestowal and love, think only about others.

A person who comes to study Kabbalah understands that a new state, a new outlook on life, a new humanity, a new system of interaction between people is now being opened to him. After all, it was not that he just came, studied a little, was noted in the journal, given a piece of paper, and he can hang it on the wall.

He comes to change himself, to enter the upper world, to exist in it. This is much more than your temporary relationship with Kabbalah.

The science of Kabbalah deals with raising a person to the next level of the universe, and he begins to see from where all the governing forces descend and what he is dealing with.

Helplessness Before Nature

Humanity feels itself as living in a certain space. What we exist within, we call our world. This is the surrounding nature, its inanimate, vegetative, animate levels, and humans.

Our world is governed in some way and lives according to its own laws. We study these laws and try to find some connection between them, how they affect us, how we can affect them, the properties of nature, and how to subjugate nature to make it profitable and comfortable for us to exist in this world.

As a result of our development, which has lasted many thousands of years on Earth, we come to the conclusion that we still know little about our world because events that we cannot predict take place in it and there are forces we cannot control. They affect us in a terrible way, scare us, and put us in situations that make us feel small, petty, and miserable.

Despite the achievements of science, we do not know when there will be an earthquake or a hurricane and what their impact might be. In general, there are enormous forces of nature that are developing, causing us great trouble, and we can do nothing about it.

We can do nothing with our lives, we cannot create a good society, correct interactions between spouses, children, and parents. We can do nothing about the fact that we are limited in our life, weak in the face of nature, in the face of ourselves. We are helpless in the face of life and death, and we find this very depressing. Subconsciously it humiliates us.

In general, we live in a world we know nothing about.

Question: Are there are certain algorithms that nature develops us through, but we do not know them?

Answer: Even if we knew them a little and we gradually came to know them, it would not help us in governing. Humanity’s development leads only to the fact that we somehow protect ourselves from nature’s negative influences, but nothing more.

A person finds himself existing in the system of forces that govern him at all levels. We can do nothing in the field of economics, family relationships, relationships of state, or in the sphere of ecology, in anything. It is in our era, when we have achieved such prosperity, such strength, and such understanding of nature, that we only become convinced that we are very weak and do not know it.

What Emotions Should We Fill The Group With?

Question: Do you have a recommendation of what emotions we should fill the group with?

Answer: Only positive ones. Only with aspiration to the goal. You must set an example for the friends without even speaking about it. They should see by looking at you how much you aspire toward the goal, desire it. With that, you are doing a great service to them and yourself.

The inspiration that you emanate onto them comes back to you and pulls you forward. You multiply your aspiration to the goal 620 times.

If everyone conducted himself this way in the group, you would move forward like a rocket.

The whole science of Kabbalah, the revelation of the spiritual world and the Creator, the exit from our miserable and temporary existence into an eternal and perfect existence—everything is open to you. Take it, use it, and have great fortune in life!

The Purpose Of Creation

The science of Kabbalah is based on the existence of only two forces: receiving and giving. The entire universe, the whole world, is based on them. Kabbalah is the equilibrating system between these two forces, leading them to the middle line.

The search for the middle line, its stabilization, its balance, at all levels—from zero to absolutely integral, complete, permanent, infinite egoism—is the subject of the science of Kabbalah.

It is a purely applied science and practice, which is necessary for us in order to get rid of the contradictions. Moreover, these contradictions are not theoretical, between something or someone, but between the creation and the Creator, that is, between us and Him.

We need to balance these contradictions, bring them to a common denominator, to the so-called middle line, where we and He will completely coincide in our desires, intentions, and actions.

This is how we will become partners, lovers, in an embrace, fused with each other at all possible levels, in all forces, desires, and actions.

This is the purpose of creation, which is called Dvekut, that is, a complete merger between two completely opposite forces.

Question: Why is a person not immediately given an opportunity to enter the spiritual space and develop within it?

Answer: He has no desire for it. If you give him such desires, they will not be his. It is an animalistic state. Proceeding from the opposite, a person must develop the right spiritual desires. Only then will he begin to attain the higher states and they will be his.

Question: Maybe we already exist in the spiritual space and do not feel it?

Answer: Yes, this is true. So what? You still do not feel it. It is a question of how to open it.

All States In The Group Are Good

Question: Quite often the initial feeling says one thing and then the mind kicks in and corrects the feeling. What should one listen to in the work for the Creator?

Answer: On the spiritual path, we are thrown from side to side, and we undergo all sorts of states: disappointment, delight, fulfillment, devastation, interaction with the friends and disconnection from them toward solitude, and so on.

It is necessary for a person to feel all of this. He deliberately undergoes such states, in order to choose the point of contact with the Creator from them. Most importantly, one should not remain in such states.

All states that we undergo in the group are good. They lead to spiritual development. Even if they seem to be half empty and unnecessary, it is not so. Therefore, try to devote as much time as possible to the connection between you and the friends.

For example, I teach every day, write tweets, answer questions, compose blog posts, etc. Because of this, I advance.

What is special in what I do? I answer the small questions of beginners and so on. Yet, through the connection with other souls, I help them rise and connect—precisely this is how each one of us develops.

How Can We Use Our Individuality?

Question: How can one use one’s individuality for the sake of a group and advancement?

Answer: When you begin working with a group you see how your qualities are clearly directed against the friends. There is nothing in you that can be correlated with them somehow.

You are completely different, distant from each other. You confront each other and hate each other. It is exactly here that you have an opportunity to connect with each other. So be it.

Question: How can a person verify that his perception of the group, friends, teacher, and Kabbalah are true if he does this from his uncorrected state?

Answer: It doesn’t matter. You work in relation to the group, so check yourself only regarding your friends. Do not worry, this is an established methodology. It comes from the very purpose of creation, from the connection between us. It cannot fail. In general, nothing in the world works, except for it.

Domination Over Egoism

Question: What does egoism feel when working in the ten?

Answer: Each one in the ten pushes back his egoism and aims toward the quality of bestowal and love for the other nine friends. This is called “the first nine Sefirot.” The tenth Sefira (egoism) goes down.

It turns out that we build a network between us that should be equal, through its qualities, to the Creator.

What does “equal to Him” mean? To the extent that I exit myself and rise in the ten by one or two units in connection with the friends, that is my spiritual level. To this degree I attain the Creator and reveal the lights of Nefesh, Ruach, Neshama, Haya, and Yechida.

Question: At the same time, do I constantly push myself away from egoism without losing it in my sensation?

Answer: Yes. Depending on the level of egoism (1, 2, 3, 4, or 5), I attain the Creator, His force in the soul. The Creator is the light and the entire system in itself is a soul.

The more egoism, the more I rise above it; precisely contrary to the ego, I use it to connect with the friends, and to that extent I reveal the Creator. This is how the system is arranged. We must work together. The whole problem is in implementation because all of this is within us.

How Can You Solve A Problem In The Ten?

Question: How do we solve a problem if it was revealed that there is no unity in the ten and we cannot come to a common opinion?

Answer: There is no need to solve anything. You must continue working with each other and turning to the Creator. Let Him solve your problems. What can you solve by yourself? Which one of you is so clever? I don’t see anyone.

Only the Creator can solve all problems. He gives them, but it seems to you that their source is one of your friends. That’s not the case at all. The Creator is the source of all problems. It is written about this, “I am the first and I am the last.” Turn to Him.

Question: Should each friend appeal to Him individually or should we all do it together?

Answer: Together is better.

Suppose that some problem arises in the group. Do not discuss it too much, but simply together turn to the Creator so that He will solve it. And it’s even better if it does not matter to you whether He solves the problem or not. The important thing for you is that you can turn to Him above this problem.

If you treat this problem as a reason to turn to Him and through it to cling to Him tenaciously, you will see that the problem disappears. It arose only for this.

Small Efforts, Huge Corrections

The person’s work consists of revealing the Creator who is concealed because of our broken desires. We have to correct our qualities, make them similar to the Creator’s qualities, meaning, prepare them for His revelation. This is how we bring Him pleasure and also realize the purpose of creation and of our lives.

We already exist in the field of the Creator, but in order for us to feel it, we have to begin with the action called subjugation. To do so, one must reduce his egoistic desire to nothing and agree with all that is happening, understanding that it is given to us for our own good. Nothing exists in this world besides the upper light. This is how we begin to establish contact with the Creator.

Subjugation lets us enter into connection with the Creator and begin to develop, enhance, and broaden it in all directions, eventually achieving full revelation of the Creator and adhesion with Him. Subjugation is the first condition in order to achieve contact with the field of the upper light that we exist in without even realizing it.¹

Why is it that we cannot just study, but must spend the majority of our time on material concerns, day jobs, etc., and resolve all sorts of corporeal problems?

Applying even the smallest effort to connect, we perform major corrections in the world because we perform them in conditions of terrible confusion. Fake news, advertisements, fears, and worry about everything that is happening in the world, plunging stock prices in the stock-market, falling bombs are perpetual problems. And all of it is done so that we can exert efforts in the midst of this mess and correct the world.

In the conditions of such disorder, huge turmoil, and obstacles, when we are able to exert even a smallest effort toward correction, it is counted as a huge contribution. Therefore, we cannot feel that the world interferes with our spiritual work; on the contrary, it helps us. If we had ideal conditions, free from all material concerns, we would never be able to correct anything in spirituality.

A long time ago, Kabbalists sat and secretly studied in solitude. But that was just a preparation. The further we move toward general, true correction, the more disorderly the world will become and the Kabbalists will have more and more problems. The chaos in the world works in our favor because if we exert small efforts while in the states of all these disturbances, they are counted as tremendous and produce significant corrections.²

Does Wealth And Poverty Interfere With Kabbalah?

Question: You once said that the Creator gives wealth in order to distance Himself. But poverty also alienates people from spirituality because all strength and thoughts go to feeding themselves and their families. Do wealth and poverty interfere with Kabbalah?

Answer: No. Everything depends on how a person, despite wealth or poverty, relates himself to the highest governance, realizing that the Creator gives him exactly what is necessary for his soul. Even if I do not understand why He gives me conditions such as wealth or poverty, which in principle hinder me in my smooth movement toward the goal, I justify it because I received it from the Creator. Moreover, probably, from the point of view of the root of my soul, it is justified, natural, and absolutely balanced.

Question: So, such an understanding helps me steer away from constant thoughts of where to get money?

Answer: No, I also regard this as a spiritual work.

Finding Good From The Opposite

I want to strive for the good all the time, but this is precisely what awakens the evil inclination. The evil inclination is the most important tool for attaining spirituality. It is impossible to advance if you do not feel the resistance of your egoism each time. You will not know where to go and what to do; you do not understand what is bothering you.

Therefore, the Creator is proud to have created the evil inclination in us. This is the most certain indicator, the faithful servant of the Creator who brings us closer to Him by constantly showing us our oppositeness to His properties. Egoism demonstrates all sorts of qualities to us; it says: “Look, this is not the Creator!” From this, we understand what is: “Yes, this is the Creator.”

Why couldn’t all this be done with the help of the good inclination alone, which would draw us to the good? The fact is that the advantage of light is revealed from darkness. We cannot discern good against the background of good. How can one see the Creator against the background of good if he himself is absolute good, of the same quality? Only due to the fact that we find out that we strive for the opposite because of our pride, ambition, and egoism do we realize that this is the wrong way and that we have to go in the opposite direction, that is, in subjugation.¹

If I address the Creator directly, personally, then even a request to take me out of my desire to enjoy’s grip will be egoistic. Whatever request might seem altruistic to me, if I make the request myself, it comes from my egoism. I just do not see it and deceive myself.

If I want to be sure that I am asking for it correctly, then I should contact the Creator only through the ten and ask to merge with it. As a result of my correct request, the upper light must come and glue me to the ten. Indeed, the Creator, whom I would like to approach, is in the ten.

I ask the reforming light to bring me closer to the ten, and by this I come closer to the Creator. The Creator is the power of bestowal, and by attaching to the ten, I also acquire some power of bestowal.²

The correct appeal to the Creator passes only through the group. If at least one word passes through the correct adapter, which is the group, then it is transmitted correctly.

If I myself appeal to the Creator, then what is so special about it? Who doesn’t appeal to Him? Even a thief prays to have a successful robbery and not be caught. Only a request that is sent through the Kabbalistic group is a genuine prayer.

In order to perceive the Creator, not abstractly, but in the form of HaVaYaH, with which I can establish contact, I have to address Him through the group. After all, the group is organized in the form of HaVaYaH, and even if it is hidden from me, I still join this matrix within which the Creator is present.

Start constantly striving to be included in the group, and you will see how it works.³

The desire to attain the opposite side of nature comes only from the reforming light. Currently, my nature is the desire to enjoy within which I want to get all sorts of fillings—to become great, strong, and famous—I want, I want, I want… I am ready to work, to make efforts to get fulfilled with food, sex, family, wealth, honor, and knowledge—all the pleasures of this world.

However, suddenly a blow comes, a great disappointment from a failure to receive fulfillment, one so harsh that life seems worse than death. I lose all hope of achieving the desire. I wanted to be great and famous, but, conversely, I feel I am smaller than everyone, a complete loser, a zero. Life just smashes me into a wall.

Here, I begin to feel that all this was arranged for me from above, by the Creator. Suddenly there is a reason, a source of my suffering that says: “Let’s get to know each other! It is me who does this to you.” Then I suddenly realize how great it is that the Creator exists. Now I can justify my life, my failures and my troubles. I feel good because I can relate everything to the Creator.

From this point on, I associate all good and bad events to one source. I am still not familiar with Him, but I already know that there is a source, the original cause from which everything originates. My life then becomes sweetened, for He is the first and the last, and I am in the middle. So, I establish a connection with the Creator, referring everything that happens to Him, both good and bad, all my thoughts and desires.

I suddenly begin to care about Him. I want to make Him happy. I begin to think in advance about how to arrange the thoughts and desires He sent so that when they return to Him they would give Him pleasure. This is already work on the connection with the Creator, and as a result I understand that for real contact with the Creator and surrender to Him, I have to turn to Him only through the ten.

My desires and thoughts directed to the Creator have to be transformed after passing through the ten in order to receive clothing and the correct form. I can then be sure that they will reach the Creator. I still do not really feel the ten, but I already understand that to the same extent, I do not feel the Creator. I received the right device for communicating with Him, which is always on and available to me. One just needs to learn how to use it. So begins my serious and consistent work in the ten.⁴

Big Soul – Big Efforts

Baal HaSulam, “Letter 11”: I will also ask that you make great efforts in love of friends, to devise tactics that can increase the love among the friends and revoke the lust for bodily matters from among you, as this is what casts hate, and between those who give contentment to their Maker there shall be no hatred. Rather, there are much compassion and love between them.

We are participating in the correction of a broken vessel, a desire that once split into many broken parts. Now we have to connect them together, and as we join them, we begin to increasingly feel the Creator.

Each of us represents a single egoistic desire. Connection with anyone requires us to be altruistic, giving, yielding, possessing a quality of bestowal at least in some way. Such connection is called “love” because to do so I must  feel the desires of another and fulfill them, and that person should also relate to my needs and mutually fill them. Our desires are clearly directed toward the Creator. Therefore, I understand my friends’ aspirations, as does each of us.

The more we unite, the more the Creator will be revealed between us. Therefore, we have to constantly think about how to rise above ourselves so that the connection between us will be more important than a person’s connection with himself.

This is possible. We just need to think about the mutual connection, to read more. This is how the surrounding light’s influence grows on us, and I begin to understand that this has become very important to me.

Sometimes our efforts take months, even years. The higher a person’s soul (that is, his desire), the lower it fell after the breakage and became very coarse and heavy. A person with a bigger soul has a harder time connecting with others because in the broken state he is further away from correction. The heavier the soul, the worse it is in its uncorrected state, thus the better and higher than others it becomes when corrected.

Therefore, one can never despair. On the contrary, more effort should be applied. In general, the work in the ten, thinking of how to reach connection and reveal the Creator in it, all these thoughts and efforts attract the light and the light corrects us.

We have to apply as much effort as possible toward attempts to connect, toward thoughts on this topic, and then we will succeed. Especially now, when many of us are beginning to feel the need to connect and others feel the necessity of increasing the importance of the Creator in obtaining the desire to bestow, we approach a state where these actions become actual and real to us.

The extent to which a person is engaged in the group, even if, due to the heaviness of his soul, he is not easily influenced, he will still advance under the group’s influence. Therefore, we have to try to achieve full connection between us and the Creator.

Struggle With Myself

Baal HaSulam, Shamati #70, “With a Mighty Hand and with Fury Poured Out”: …those who want to enter God’s work in order to truly cleave unto Him and enter the King’s Palace, not every one is admitted. Rather, one is tested—if he has no other desires but only a desire for Dvekut (adhesion), he is admitted.

And how is one tested if he has only one desire? One is given obstructions. This means that he is sent alien thoughts and alien messengers to obstruct him so he would leave this path and follow the path of the populace.

Baal HaSulam writes that everything in nature is attained in collision. Life is a struggle, not with someone or something, but rather with yourself. If a person understands this correctly, then everything is fine.

It all depends on how to attune to this to understand that two forces are governing in the world: reception and bestowal. The force of reception is our great egoism and the force of bestowal does not exist in us. We must develop it gradually. It is quite complicated.

In order to do so, we must somehow interact in the group, trying to come closer to each other. We do not want this. It is exactly at this point, when I feel that I do not want to, but I forcibly push myself to connect with the friends, that I must turn to the Creator and ask Him to give me an opportunity to want this. If I do not run away from the struggle, but I catch myself on this, I can then reach balance in the middle line.

Question: What are alien thoughts?

Answer: These are any thoughts that are not directed to adhesion with the Creator, to equivalence with Him, and to the quality of bestowal.
