Desire Is Not Broken – The Screen Is


Question: You say that the desires are broken, but I perceive desire as something whole. What is a “broken” desire?

Answer: The desire to receive for one’s own sake is referred to as “broken.” And the desire directed towards “bestowal” to others is referred to as “corrected” or wholesome. Desire does not break—the screen does.

Desire is always wholesome. If my desire has a screen, and when the Light comes, I am able to pass it on to the others and only keep what I need for my existence, this means that the entire upper Light passes through me to the others. It never lingers in me; it constantly circulates from the world of Infinity to everyone else without exception. Then I feel absolutely fulfilled, and the force of life always circulates in me.

But if I do not have this quality, meaning I don’t possess the screen, the upper Light does not even reach me. It immediately returns back to its source, carrying out the condition of the First Restriction (Tzimtzum Aleph or TA): the Light does not enter the desire to receive without a screen. This is why I feel that I exist “within myself” and not in the Light.

“The thing within myself,” which I am, is called “this world”—that which we perceive for now. “This world” is what I perceive within me.

The upper world is what I feel outside of me, when I connect to the rest. Then I perceive the life of the entire body, and all of the Creator’s Light passes through me to all the rest.

This is why the state when I have a screen, when I am connected with everyone else and pass the Light to them, is called “corrected.” And the state when I do not have a screen is called “broken.” The desire is not broken, the screen is, even though we frequently use the conventional term: “broken desires.”

Common “Flock” Of Humanity


We all are very different and have different levels of desires, but everybody has their own individuality, a unique role, even though it may appear to be limited. There is no obligation to “reach the stars” or strive towards something lofty. No one is better or worse than others.

When we will reach an integral connection between us, each of us will receive complete knowledge and absolute awareness of the universe. Each of us will become “a free bird” connected with others. Yet no one will rule over us except for the general desire, goal, and plan.

In other words, we become connected with others and at the same time remain absolutely free. We sense a common thought like a bird in a flock. A bird doesn’t sense itself or others. It only feels the common thought: where to turn, how to fly, and what to do next. This commonality becomes its personal asset.

Being a part of a general system, we make decisions together with others, and then we implement our decisions and achieve results. The next decision happens simultaneously in everybody, together with its implementation and result.

In other words, we become one common body. Every person simultaneously manages others and himself. In other words, we reach the level of the upper force that governs humanity, and we are inside this humanity.

In A Single Field Of Desires


We live in an egoistic world, and every person sees it based on how much fulfillment and pleasure they can receive from it, how much they can benefit: personally and in comparison to others.A person constantly measures himself in relation to others: Sometimes it is better to receive less but somewhat more than others, than to receive a lot when others receive even more. We have become accustomed to acting this way in our world, and we always developed this way.

But now a completely different world is standing before us. It forces us to act in a different manner, for example, like ants that always work together as a single organism, or like birds that feel one another when they fly. When birds travel, the entire flock turns at the same time, like a single whole: It is not the first bird that turns with all the other birds following it, but all the birds turn together.

A school of fish also moves simultaneously, and so on. There is a precise connection between them, one common field that controls them. Everyone absolutely feels everyone else, regardless of whether they are the first or the last in the school, and this is why they all turn simultaneously. In a state of community, instead of perceiving oneself, every individual perceives the common whole and executes the common will, the common plan.

Nature obligates us to act together the same way, but instead of acting instinctively like ants, fish, and birds, we need to act consciously. This state is absolutely confusing to us. How can I perceive the entire world like one enormous flock and turn and interact together with it like one common whole with one head and one heart? However, now we are entering this state against our will and regardless of our desire. We already exist in it like one enormous flock of birds, school of fish, or colony of ants, but we do not understand it yet.

However, we are gradually beginning to realize it. We see that we can no longer control ourselves and influence things like we did before because now a completely different mutual work plan is being revealed where you must feel everyone else, and all people together have to feel the common movement, turn, and move in one direction.

We have to distribute everything between us according to this: to consume and to manage seemingly private matters that suddenly become public. A person does not have anything private. Anything he does is part of the collective. At the end, his little work must include the general plan. He must feel like he is an element of the flock, which is operated by the general thought, the general mind, the general plan.

Open The Faucet Of The Upper Light!


It doesn’t matter what item in or part of The Book of Zohar we study. Rabash used to do this: He would close his eyes, open the book at some page, and begin to read in the middle of the line. He read a few lines, and this was enough for him. And then he would continue to think.

It connects a person to the source that explains to him about the good and correct future state. After all, you don’t know what this source is in itself. You only know that in doing this, you open some faucet that brings you the force, and this force has to influence you. It is as if you open a faucet of water, and it flows on you.

This is the way we need to relate to The Book of Zohar. The “water” flows on condition that we “stand under the faucet.” “To stand under the faucet” means to be together, to yearn as much as possible for unity since this is the nature of the upper waters that pour from one unified vessel. Thus, according to the measure that we unite together, desire to connect, and strive to be as one man with one heart, to that measure the Light of the Torah comes to us, and we merit the reception of the Torah, the reception of the Light.

The Incredible Mastery Of The System Of Governance


So many preparations were made by our breaking and so many opportunities were opened up by it for our benefit that it was nothing short of a divine act. This is such an ingenious invention that we are unable to even evaluate it duly.

This is expressed especially in the material garments, in which we are able to exist egoistically while advancing toward bestowal. It is impossible to even imagine how such a miracle is possible! I am in a minus, in evil, in hatred for the neighbor and the Creator, in total opposition to Him, and at the same time, I use them in order to profit off them (or at least that’s how it seems to me). And when I use them for my own benefit, as it seems to me, I actually advance in the reverse direction, meaning toward bestowal to them.

It turns out that by virtue of the breaking, two separate laws of creation emerge, which are connected in a way that enables us to use them even while we are in egoism.

After the breaking, all actions are performed upon us by the world of Atzilut. That is why such a difficult, complex, and perfect mechanism exists in it. After all, it has to work on us from the upper dimension, from the world of bestowal. It has to connect with us, egoists.

And even though we desire the opposite things, nevertheless the system of the world ofAtzilut is by its nature built in such a way that it treats us correctly. Even if we are asking for ourselves, egoistically, yet by virtue of the fact that our external actions seem bestowing because we are trying to unite into a group and are working for the sake of dissemination, this is enough for the surrounding Light to shine upon us.

The Light can never become inner and enter these egoistic vessels, but it glows for us from afar, even in these desires that are opposite and unsuitable for it. We have absolutely opposite intentions, yet it shines for us.

This is a very complex mechanism.

Not Just Like Nuts In A Bag


Question: When there is a disaster or a war, people unite and help each other, they take in people who are hurt, and it’s as if there is mutual guarantee between us. How can we explain that mutual guarantee should simply be between us and not against some third party?

Answer: I think that now our interdependence will be revealed not because some disaster unites us. In the past we felt our mutual guarantee under the pressure of threats around us, and so we clung together, like nuts in a bag. We didn’t want to unite, but the bag held us together, and as we had no other choice, we had to exist inside one bag.

Today things are different. Today we are facing nature, the upper force, and not some corporeal enemy that surrounds us and can be killed and destroyed. Nature shows me that I depend on and am tied to everyone else. If I just lived next to some enemy, it wouldn’t be a problem. The point is that I am totally dependent on him. I am so dependent on him that I can do him no harm. As I harm him with my hatred, I inflict harm upon myself.

A system of interdependence is being revealed to us everywhere in the world and with regards to everything. In every situation that I cause someone harm, I harm myself in return. This is how the general integral system is revealed. Essentially, every person in the world is part of me, and through him I feel all the evil that comes back to me.

Doesn’t Germany want to dump Greece or to be cut off from it? But it can’t! They can’t just “cut off” Greece, Italy, or Spain because there is already a connection that makes them dependent on everyone. You can’t just hate others because by your hate you are simply “shooting yourself in the foot.”

This is unprecedented, and so everyone feels so helpless not knowing what to do: “I hate his guts, but I can’t even touch him because of the blow that will immediately come back to me.” We can’t “fix” the situation by breaking up our connections. It is impossible!

If I harm someone, the harm will come back to me in much greater magnitude than if I harmed myself. It’s also the same in the opposite direction: If I do good for others, the goodness comes back to me 613 times more compared to the starting point, meaning instead of Nefesh of Nefesh, I receive the Light of NRNHY.

So I shouldn’t say or think evil things about anyone, not even half a word. It’s better to curse myself. This will become clear to everyone. This is how globalization will oblige us to change.

To reach this by ourselves, we will have to go through a long way of suffering, while the wisdom of Kabbalah reveals this to us much more quickly.

The Real Work Is Internal


Question: I’ve been studying Kabbalah for a few years, and it’s clear to me that what matters most is my internal work. However, it still seems to me that I don’t really understand what it is. Will you explain in greater detail what our internal work is?

Answer: My internal work is to try as hard as I can to join the collective internal work of creating the vessel for the reception of the Light. The end of an action is in its initial thought. First, I yearn for the state in which I reveal the Creator. What is that state? It’s the state in which several points in the heart join together. If I create the right unified system with these points in which the power of bestowal resides, I will discover the force called the “Creator” in it. I will discover Him according to the level of our unity.

So our internal work is about unity, mutual guarantee. It is said: “Love thy neighbor as thyself is the great rule of the Torah.” A rule (Klal) is the vessel (Kli) that contains all the Light. This is the only thing I need, and this is why I stay focused on it.

I try to do different things that will lead to the internal unity of the points in our hearts. I look for opportunities to unite and to awaken the friends towards it. I am concerned about all of us being in one intention, thought, about being inspired and connected so that the fire among us will burn. Then we will reveal the Creator there.

His revelation is the only thing we need. The essence of the entire wisdom of Kabbalah is the revelation of the Creator to the created being in this world.

Freedom Is Voluntary Dependence


Kabbalists put a lot of emphasis on the group, and the entire question of spiritual attainment is related to this notion. This is because the group is a method, an instrument, for the attainment of the Light. It is the well, the source, of Light in our world.

The Light is the only thing that works. It does everything, awakening all the desires. Hence, if we wish to change reality, we need the Light that shines in its usual direction, but we can add our own efforts to it and accelerate our development, as well as make it desirable and good.

If we wish to be masters in the spiritual art, the Light must become the method, the instrument in our hands, and make these changes. We can only attract the Light that Reforms in the group. This is why the purpose of the group, the environment, is to reveal the Light contained in it and to let it act upon yourselves and the entire world. And the Light is revealed in our world through the group.

The direction of the Light’s influence depends on us. We cannot change its influence at all; we can only accelerate our development, make the Light shine more strongly than it naturally does. In other words, we can only increase the velocity.

However, changing the velocity means to agree with its actions and change our sensation from development. Then, development will stop being forced and undesirable; it will no longer happen under the steamroller of evolution. Instead, we will develop according to our desire and aspiration to advance.

This way, group work becomes the main work that the revelation of the Light, the Creator, and the speed of development depends on. It does not matter that we, of course, do not understand in which direction we are developing and what we need to demand. After all, once the Light becomes manifested, it will explain and illuminate everything to us, clarify our thoughts and desires, and turn us in the right direction.

We completely depend on the Light. This is why we depend on building an environment, a group. In reality, this is the only thing that we have the power to do.

In regular life, we develop the obligated way, and no one asks us where, how, and why they should turn us. We simply turn as we should, without even realizing it. The Light either turns us in a concealed way in our world or openly in the spiritual world. The only difference is whether we understand this.

In the spiritual world, we act because we agree to act, and we want the Light to operate and do all the work with us. Let it do whatever it wants with us. We are ready for it, and we cancel ourselves before its actions.

In our world, every person cancels themselves before the actions of the Light, even though they neither understand nor realize it, like a small child who plays and thinks that he is given all the freedom in this world.

I do not have freedom in the spiritual world, but I already know that I am not free, and I agree with it. However, we are given freedom of choice in the middle, between that world and this world, in the so called “middle third of Tifferet,” for us to consciously choose to want to be under the influence of the Light.

In other words, here, I always remain independent, although we do not think that this is the condition of our independence— making the decision to put ourselves under the influence of the Light that Reforms. We do not understand what the point of our freedom is—to the extent we do not feel and do not understand what it is to be free. We exist in absolute darkness and are controlled from Above.

In the spiritual world, we also exist in the Light that controls us, but here, in Klipat Noga,in the middle between the forces of sanctity and impurity, we build our path from all these states, the points of freedom that, one after the other, add up to make a line. We follow it to absolute independence and at the same time to absolute adhesion and similarity to the Creator, something that is hard for us to understand now.

All of this is analyzed and realized in the group, in society.

The Dollar Today Is Dead, The U.S. Bankrupt


Opinion: (Giulietto Chiesa, former Italian Politician and Member of the European Parliament): “We are at the beginning of the transition period, which has no precedents in history.

“Today it’s clear that the development within a closed system of resources is impossible: The world has reached the limits of development. Coal, oil, and uranium—all resources of the planet are almost exhausted, and it is only a matter of time before they finally run out. Everything that we are accustomed to will change. The civilization of money will be gone.

“This is a truly global crisis, …which includes the energy crisis. Today we use more water than nature can give us. We produce waste that cannot be recycled. We have changed the course of nature.

My Comment: More and more people begin to realize that the future is only possible within the framework of the economy of reasonable (necessary) consumption, in complete similarity and balance with nature, in the unity of all people according to the principle of mutual guarantee. We are approaching the point about which Kabbalists talked thousands of years ago.

Love Is Not Leniency


Question: How does one bestow upon the world?

Answer: You take the desires of everyone and fill them as much as you can. That is called love. That is the act of love.

Question: Which desires do I take?

Answer: If you love them, you fill only their necessary desires. You won’t buy unhealthy food for your child. You buy him something tasty, but the main thing is that it is healthy.

Question: But what if he specifically wants fast food?

Answer: If you love, you can’t fill the desires that are bad for him. After all, you wouldn’t give your son a knife to play with if he asked for one. Isn’t that the same thing as fast food?

A true relationship, a real love, hardens you. The pity you feel now is actually egoistic pity; you feel sorry for yourself, not him. If you really had pity for him, you would give only what is healthy for him, only that which benefits his development and nothing else.

The child will get used to this very quickly. If you behave this way from the beginning, he won’t even ask you for things that are harmful.
