In A Blender Of Desires And Thoughts

Question: What state must a person reach when the conventionopens? What must he experience?
Answer: He must feel that it is as if he has entered into a blender within which he wants to mix his thoughts and feelings with the thoughts and feelings of others, so that he has nothing left.
From this mixture of desires in the heart and thoughts in the mind, something emerges that can be called a “spiritual Kli,” a “spiritual Partzuf.” This is because a desire is the “body” of the “Partzuf,” and the thoughts are its “head.” In this way we create a pattern (model) of an Adam (one person), a single image of all of humanity.
The role of each one is to mix with everyone so there is nothing left of him, neither in the head nor in the heart. And what results will fill his heart and mind.

See The Friends As New

Question: Should the groups of “ten” that are formed at theconvention be composed at random from unrelated people, or is it possible to keep those groups of ten that have already worked together for a few years?
Answer: If people want to be together, maybe it’s good. But I would like to warn them that this shouldn’t be habitual. This could nullify what we could attain.
We must attain connection above all possible problems, especially beyond the place where we connect, where we are not familiar with each other. This doesn’t mean that we must choose people who are our opposite.
But still, when we come from somewhere with our group of ten where everyone has been acquainted with each other for some time, has discussed various subjects in circles andworkshops hundreds of times, what kind of innovation can there be here?! What is there to work on? Everything would roll along on our habitual pattern. I don’t think this is good.
A group of ten that is shaped and created in a convention must maintain one composition from the beginning of the convention to its end. But if this will be a group of ten that has worked for years, then it creates a problem. I personally would not want them to put me in a group of ten like this. I am familiar with these guys, we have talked about everything among us; one could say half a word and I already know what another will add. I have no surprises with them, I don’t need to change and adapt myself; this isn’t good. So I don’t think that this is the way it should be done, to the contrary.
It is said that we should always see our friends as new. As new! I am going to discover them on a new level. And this begs the question: “Will this work for me with those same faces I have seen in front of me for years?” I work well with them; we have gone through many conventions together. It could certainly be that because of this I will not be able to struggle with myself to approach them, for even in this way they seem close to me.
So I would not recommend being included in a group of ten that has more than two very close friends.

Friends, Our Covenant Is Wonderful!

Question: In what way should our covenant be revealed in theconvention?
Answer: In warmth. Effective communication that must occur between us. It has to simply expldet so that we will begin to feel a warm void among us that opens us up to one another and doesn’t let us restrain ourselves in order to express our love.
Moreover, it is mutual support, a mutual effort all over the world when the friends all over the world express their support and their awe and confirm their oath of loyalty to our covenant.
Therefore, we must feel some tension. Of course, the upper force can do whatever it wants with us, but each of us is committed to the friends, to keep all the advice and the commands of the Kabbalists and do everything in our power to keep the covenant with the others.
A person should understand that if he doesn’t accept this condition, he is not part of our stream, and he doesn’t float onward in our common general boat. He can stay in the convention but nothing will happen to him.
Everyone must realize and recognize the fact that taking an oath is the central issue in starting the spiritual path. Just like on Mt. Sinai: “Do you agree to be as one man in one heart? If not, this will be your burial place!”
If we are going to make a covenant now, it should include everyone by stretching a hand over the ocean, over the continent, no matter where. Everyone has to feel that they are with us in a continuous two-way connection.

A Circle Is The Form Of Existence Of the Corrected Society

Question: What is required for the practical realization of the method of connection?
Answer: You need to study and  have practical connection exercisesworkshops, and roundtables that lead to the unification of the people. We must feel that it is possible to discover the force between us that connects us.
The essence of the method is simple: You need to sit in circles and talk about connection, about the reasons for it, about the goal of the existence of our people, about who we are. The connection raises us above our present state. During a discussion like this, we suddenly discover that within our circle some kind of force, warmth, and shared feeling appears that connects us together.
We suddenly feel that we are close to each other and depend on each other, like in a family and even more. There is some kind of thread inside that connects me with you and you with me. And threads like these are stretched between everyone. The inner network that makes this connection gives us exceptional experiences and a sensation of a new life in which we are connected into a single whole.
This connection raises us to a unique elevated state. We want to remain in that, to protect this spirit that makes it possible for us to rise above this life. All this life acquires a new shape. The wisdom of Kabbalah explains to us how to attain this unity in order to feel, in our power of unification, the higher component that is ready to change everything in our world.
If we try to discover this force of unification between us, then we discover the higher force that is ready to heal all of the unpleasantness and the problems in our individual lives and in society, in the economy, in politics, and to put order in the whole world.
We begin to radiate this force of unification to the whole world and it will change its attitude towards us. This is because all the nations of the world have been specifically waiting for this from the Jewish people. As proof, it is possible to bring a multitude of statements: both those of the Jewish sages and those of the anti-Semites.
It follows that nothing more is needed besides unification. And the wisdom of Kabbalah, which is the wisdom of connection and unification, must help us with this. So it has been revealed in our day.
So come, let’s learn how to attain the unification of the whole society. And in practice this is summed up in work in circles and with the study of essential questions like these: “Who is a man?  What is connection? How do we advance? What is the goal of creation? What is the mission of the people of Israel in relation to the rest of the peoples? What is the reason for anti-Semitism? How does one heal the entire common collective ego and that which is in each one personally, how is all the evil in the world corrected?”
People will learn all of this in those circles; they will clarify together and discover the power of unification that will heal all of the evil. This must become the permanent work of the people of Israel, our international mission, until we reach complete connection.
Every day, even several times per day, as much as possible, a person must participate in a discussion like this in a circle. There are plenty of unemployed people who have free time, and it is possible to arrange discussions of this type in workplaces, in schools, and on television for those who remain at home.
A circle in which people discuss all of their relationships will become the form of existence of the corrected society: In kindergartens, at school, at work, among retirees. All of the people will learn how to carry out their obligations in relation to the rest of the people: to correct, to unite themselves into one people, and to show an example to all of humanity.
Then all of the people will immediately change their attitude towards Israel and towards the Jewish people and we will truly become a “Light to the nations,” a “kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” We will become teachers for the whole world.

A Group Of Ten Is A Whole Spiritual Unit

Question: We will be conducting work in groups of ten in the upcoming St. Petersburg convention. Should a group of ten be together all the time including mealtime, the friends’ meetings, the workshops, and the lessons?
Answer: I don’t see the point in walking around in groups of ten holding hands.
A group of ten is considered a whole spiritual unit. In Hebrew it is called a Minyan. There is a condition that you cannot pray if you don’t gather in a group of ten. This means that you cannot appeal to the Creator if you are not in a group of ten. Therefore, the groups of ten are essential in all our events.
During the friends’ meetings everyone is present: the men in an inside circle and the women on the outside. We have to constantly emphasize that we are together with all of humanity, with the whole world group.
The groups of ten don’t have to show their excessive individualism. Their main role is to cultivate the intention: We have gathered here in order to merge into one, so that units identical to ours will connect into one huge unit that is equal to the Creator.
A group of ten is what raises you to the next level; it is a derivative. Those who have studied higher mathematics know that the breaking down of a derivative is shattering and death. If a group of ten breaks down, you cannot raise yourself to the next level any more.
Therefore, we should do everything we can so that the groups of ten will remain intact even while performing different duties in the kitchen or any service. This is important.

The Safest Place On Earth

I think that learning the art of good connection with others according to the method of Kabbalah should be a government program, covering all the sectors of society, from the very young to the elderly.
Question: But what about people who are strongly opposed to Kabbalah?
Answer: They just do not know what Kabbalah is. This name scares people, but it is not about mysticism, it is only about connection between people. A person is under the force of stereotypes, but it’s time to clear the wisdom of Kabbalah from them. We simply have no other choice. Unity can only be achieved with its help, and if we do not unite, not only we will not be successful, but, in general, we will have no right to exist.
When the Jews from around the world ask me in letters where they should move to escape from local anti-Semitism, I cannot tell them to move to Israel. How can we ensure safety here if the nation is divided?
If we unite and really become one whole, then it will be the safest place on earth. And it all depends on us. This is the difference between any other point on the globe and Israel where we ourselves define our security through our unity. If we unite here, we will achieve complete security. The strength of unity determines the degree of our security.
Question: How can we measure the strength of unity?
Answer: The strength of unity is measured by how much people are willing to sacrifice their egoism for the sake of others, to neglect their own comfort and well-being as during the war, and by how much they are friendly to each other. Only the strength of our unity will give us security.

Profiting Much from Everything that Will Be in a Convention
I could be at the end of the world, in a small and weak group, but if I prepare myself with the right fear that this is the first Mitzvah, the essential state, then it is not important where I am found; I could profit much from everything that will be in this convention. I must know how to be integrated in this society, really be there among them, to nullify myself. In particular, I must suggest to those who think that they have everything to instead think like a group that thinks they are great, understanding, and sensitive. I think that there is a great fear here that the people who think like this are the opposite. Not only will they not gain from the connection, but on the contrary, they will enter into Klipa, and this is a very big problem. So all of our preparation before the convention must be that we begin to feel how small we are in contrast to them and must be integrated. In general, “Every person who is greater than his fellow has a greater evil inclination,” even if we don’t feel it. This is concealed from our eyes so that we don’t see and don’t feel how much we are included with them, don’t submit towards them, and so on. This is the first preparation, this is the “Mitzvah of awe.” It is awe from how I am in regard to them, and awe from how I am in regard to the Creator. We must think whether we are preparing ourselves for this.

Determined to Make Unity, Connection and a Covenant in the Saint Petersburg Convention
We recommend being determined to make unity, connection, and a covenant at our convention in Saint Petersburg. Everyone who comes to a convention must be ready. Each one comes to a convention, meaning, not only physically by way of flying in a plane, coming in a wagon or walking; rather, I am talking about those who participate from all over the world. This is called coming. So come to connect. This is called coming to the convention, and then we must do something, some event, not great, but some event where we truly symbolize this thing. Also, we will be like a symbol of unity, and especially when the person leaves with a feeling that he has truly reached the first connection, the first click, familiarity, awareness, understanding, the first feeling of the one Kli, us. This is what I think, that it is necessary to be in the beginning of our grouping there.

The Essence of the Convention
The essence of the convention is to reach discovery of the Creator. This is its goal, and preparation for this convention is preparation for discovering the Creator. Accordingly, we must prepare the connection between us, a Kli, and we must try to be in this all the time and not go out of this. The Kli is solely and only if it is established, for spirituality is determination. And if there is a pause, it is no longer spirituality; you have already fallen again into physicality. According to this, you can check if you are approaching spirituality, drawn towards this, or not. For if you are drawn towards this or not, if you are drawn to this, if you are found in states of giving, bestowal, and so on, as much time as possible you are like this, you can already say that you are approaching.

It is necessary to be integrated in a group and to get support from it, to be integrated with the friends with eyes shut and in this way you are gradually strengthened, for this is your first or new level, and on every new level you are found in a level where you require support like a baby.

Being disconnected from myself, that is where spirituality is
The goal seems to us as something that is before me and I'm about to see it in the distance, crave it, accept it and acquire it. The problem is in these words: "to crave it" and "to acquire it," because specifically in the zero point we become concerned not for ourselves but what is outside of me, for others. Being disconnected from myself, beyond that horizon, that psychological barrier, that is where spirituality is. The concern remains but not like it was. The matter of the concern, the fear, the prayer is no longer for what do I have, how will I end the day, how will I finish life and how am I towards others; the concern becomes outside of myself, outside the circle of my ego, that is where a person gets the ability to feel what's beyond his ego, there he finds his spiritual self [Part 1 Min 24]    

To the extent which he cares for the society he can draw the light through it
A person never corrects himself one on one with the Creator, in a direct line, but always through society. To the extent which he cares for the society he can draw the Light through it. That care will correct him so he will no longer need to take care of himself, this is how it works. It is a necessary, yet spiritual and pure state. If we don't activate it we don't reach anything, this should be very clear. I never correct myself, only if the society provides me with such influences that neutralize the concern for myself, for  my egoistic will: who am I, what am I, when, and so on. The society must bring me the Light of correction. To the extent that I invest in the society can I perceive the Light and become corrected. Then, once again I become a connected, inseparable part of the society; this is how you build the Kli.
Therefore, anyone who is trying by himself immediately turns into a Klipa (Shell). This is the whole thing, it seems so easy, so unidentifiable, it's like Rabbi Akiva cried: "love another as thyself." If I care about others a bit less, meaning not a 100% and I'm starting to calculate how I will be with the Creator, how I will bestow, how I will do, then we fall to unfounded hatred. The transition is very subtle, really unidentified. Only in the reciprocal work with the friends is it possible to bring ourselves, our general dial to zero to such a sensitivity that we will rise all the time to the house of the Lord and not in any other direction. What Is Equality?

Question: What is equality? A person is born, comes into this world, and everything that he sees, everything, is absolutely divided and separate beginning with what he feels inside and ending with what he sees outside. But in spite of it all, for individual people there is a particular desire for equality. Where does this come from?
Answer: All of our characteristics, observations, situations, and laws come from only one state, a state of unity, the state of the analog, integral system in which we are found.
The integral system is built on the principle of our full dependence upon each other. This means that all of us are absolutely equal. Perhaps for one, particular parameters are a thousand times greater than for another, but if the system is completely connected, then for this great person, somehow his greatness depends upon a very small person. This is because the entire system is integral, and if some kind of minimal disruption happens in it, it completely fails! This is the principle of equality.
This principle is not based upon who you were and who I was from the start. It is based upon what we must reach to bring the system to an integral state under our influence. In other words, nature created an integral system and created us completely opposite to this state.
Our role is to reach the ideal state, without connection to which of us is someone great, small, wise, foolish, weak, or strong. All of us must reach mutual dependence upon each other. Only in such a case will we discover ourselves to be completely equal.
Everything is derived from the principle of the wholeness of the system in its initial and final state. And we, in the middle, must bring it to its planned ideal through our efforts. From here are derived all of the laws of mutual cooperation in a group, in a collective, in a society, in humanity.

We Today

Humanity today is at a fateful crossroads.
On the one hand, it appears that we all depend on each other and our world has become one global village. On the other hand, we strongly resist this relationship and do not want to get closer to each other.
Clearly, this unstable state cannot last long. Humanity must decide how to live further into the future.
About 4,000 years ago, a similar situation in the world once existed in ancient Babylon.
In order to come to the right decision, as well as to understand how we, the people of Israel, are associated with this problem, let’s go back in time and trace the events as they unfolded.

A Toy That Must Come To Life

Question: What is “the King’s honor” that a person can harm through his ego?
Answer: Regarding “the King’s honor,” this means that I accept Him as controlling me, organizing and managing my entire life, and everything that is within me and around me. Everything that I feel and think, everything that appears in my consciousness, comes from Him, from some source.
Suppose that I lose consciousness and then begin to regain consciousness. All of my emotions that I feel within myself and the world around me are derived from some previous source.
This higher source shapes and forms me and gives me the feeling that I exist within a physical body, within some context, with hands and feet, and that a whole world spins around me. But all this is portrayed in a single point within me, within my consciousness.
This point which describes its existence to itself, has a higher spiritual source called the Creator” He is called the Creator because He created me. And in addition to this, Creator (Boreh) expresses Bo reh (come and see), because I can come to Him and feel Him.
The Creator created within me, some point that feels itself as existing in a unique form, in a human body that is living in this world, in the universe. But this point has the possibility of expanding its perception correctly, such that from this physical picture that it gets from above, from the Creator, it can reach Him, its source.
This means that it must learn how it is built, how processes are taking place within it that seem external and seemingly happening in the surrounding world. From this it can attain the Source. But in the name of this, it must again gather inside it, all that seems external to it.
From everything that happens within my body, I must also locate this unique internal point, that connects from within to the Source, to the cause of its existence, and to the entire perception of this reality. This is a more advanced stage.
The problem is to understand, and mainly to feel, that the Creator determines all of my reality, my perception and also that of the world.
Imagine yourself as some kind of toy puppet, a little bear with a spring under tension that is managed by some kind of program that makes it move. But it has a special point within it so that it feels that it exists like this. And this point is the source of the soul, for everything else belongs to the Creator, the higher source that activates me.
But this point is the Adam in me, the beginning of the future Adam. All the rest belongs to the Creator and is managed from above. So from this point, it is important that I begin to understand my life and who it is that manages it. This is called, “from your deeds we are aware of You.”
I look at the deeds that He carries out with my point, at how He forms my “self” and this whole world, and from this I become aware of Him.
In this way, I ultimately attain the Creator.

Quality Is What’s Important

The wholeness of the group depends on its adhesion to those who advance and not on those who advance looking backward at the rearguard, at those who are at the end, thinking: “How can we slow down so that the others can catch up with us?” That isn’t right. We should only yearn to advance!
Many are still against integral education and against dissemination: “We study thewisdom of Kabbalah and everything else doesn’t concern us.” Of course, this is their own business, but they should know that they have no connection with me. How do they intend to keep on engaging in spiritual work? If their goal is to know what the books say, they can even learn it by heart, but they will never be able to attain and reveal spirituality!
If they are against our method, then actually they have nothing to look for in the group. I am very serious. All the smart-alecks, all those who only want to study but not to disseminate, can leave. They are not my students and I don’t see them as students.
Let there be a small group but a qualitative one. In spirituality quality is what’s important and not the quantity.

In An External Wrapping And Without It

Question: I increase my sensitivity in the group in order to feel my friends more and more. Do I have to do the same in the outside world?
Answer: No, under no circumstances! You have to connect with the outside world through a kind of a partition and to show that you are also coarse and insensitive and indifferent like everyone else. Otherwise people would think that you are an eccentric, a person not from this world.
You will be mocked and used. At work, your colleagues will not understand you. That is why I emphasize that you should consist of two layers and your exterior clothes should be identical to the outside world. You have to learn how to do that!
Rabash used to give a very good example. He used to work in paving roads from Jerusalem and Hebron. The workers worked from sunrise to sunset and in the evening when everyone used to sit down to eat and have tea they started long talks about politics and other matters until midnight and then went to sleep.
But when everyone fell asleep, he used to get up and study the wisdom of Kabbalah. If they came complaining to him: “Are you our friend or not?!”, he would answer that he had nothing to talk them about; that is, he showed some indifference and then they would leave him alone.
Even on the bus when someone sat next to Rabash and tried to speak to him, he would pretend to be asleep. But he behaved exactly like everyone else in every other sense.
Therefore, we should constantly put on this external shirt so as not to differ from others.
Question: But how can we feel the people more when we go out to disseminate? How do we attain this sensitivity? By increasing it among us and then feeling the public more?
Answer: This is a totally different matter. When you go out to disseminate, you meet people who are ready to be in contact with you. In that case you can use your spiritual figure in order to connect to them, in order to give them some spiritual filling, to fulfill the contact and the inner connection. This isn’t the external world anymore but people who are advancing towards an internal connection with you.
It is for them that you create different external faces by adapting yourselves to them, like working with children, for example. How do you usually speak to kids, how do you give them examples, how do you play with them? You constantly try to be like them by coming down to their age and to their level of understanding a little. It is the same here, but by that you begin to open up. This is the natural way of every teacher.
