Tu B’Av An Unpretentious Holiday

laitman_293.2Question: Tu B’Av is the holiday of love. What can you say about love?
Answer: There are many references to love in the wisdom of Kabbalah and in fact there is nothing else. All our development is the way to absolute love. You should not simply “love thy friend as thyself,” but it is through the love of others that you should love everything and most importantly the Creator. You should fill all of creation with your love, all the worlds.
Tu B’Av is the greatest holiday, the end of the development of all of humanity.
Question: So why is this holiday so concealed?
Answer: We have not attained it yet. It has no root in the past, in our history. We have already been through all the holidays. We have somehow done the work in them and eventually only this holiday was left, Tu B’Av, the day of love.
Question: It’s interesting that the holiday of love is actually a week after the Ninth of Av, which is the most tragic day of the year. Why?
Answer: Yes, it is six days later because we have to undergo the greatest sufferings and only then in their oppositeness can we attain absolute pleasure, a filling, love. This means that after the concealment of the Creator on the Ninth of Av comes the full revelation of the Creator in us, which is the day of Tu B’Av.
Question: King Solomon said that on Tu B’Av the young women of Jerusalem went out dressed in white and danced, and then the groom arrived. Who are these young women? Who are they looking for? Who is the groom who appears before them?
Answer: The analogy is that the groom represents the Creator; the young women are the created beings, people’s desires, and when they come out of Jerusalem, beyond its border to the orchards and vineyards that surround Jerusalem, dressed in white dresses, it symbolizes the purification of the ego; the egoistic desires that have become altruistic are ready in this state to receive the Creator into them. This is the reason that the Creator is ready to meet them. It isn’t about any other kind of love. Everything is written and everything is done only in order to attain this summit Tu B’Av, but this holiday is indeed inconspicuous.
Question: What is love from a Kabbalistic perspective?
Answer: Love is the total adhesion of the whole creation and all its parts to each other and to the Creator in its desire to fill, to enjoy, and to help each other.

Be Blessed!

Laitman_633_1Torah, Deuteronomy 27:26: Cursed be he who does not uphold the words of this Torah, to fulfill them. And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
If you don’t do this in intention and in action, then you will call a curse upon yourself as a result.
In intention is understandable, but why also in action? It is because everyone has these opportunities in the spiritual form. You must react correctly to all the actions that you will come across. If you don’t do this, you will receive a curse.
Question: How do I avoid incorrect actions in order not to kill the next degree in myself?
Answer: Only the right environment through which the upper Light shines on you constantly and holds you all the time, like in the space elevated above the ground, can save you from the transgressions, that is from a curse.
So, be blessed and not cursed.

The Book Of Zohar—The Most Important Condition

laitman_530The most important condition for studying The Book of Zohar is a well-prepared, organized group. You cannot open The Book of Zohar alone and expect it to begin to influence you and to reveal the upper world to you. You need to be in a certain connection with the friends for that to happen.
When a person studies The Book of Zohar with the friends, he spurs and summons changes to the point that he begins to feel the picture of the upper world in the connection like on a TV screen: sensations, volumes, dependencies. There cannot be any feeling of the upper world unless you are connected to the group.
In our world there is no connection between people. We are absolute egoists who aspire only to extract mutual benefit from each other. And in the upper world this connection is revealed during the study of The Book of Zohar, and a person begins to actually perceive, explore, and affect it.
The Book of Zohar does not require prolonged effort, especially not mental ones. The efforts should be emotional. You should study regularly, but not for a long time. An hour a day is enough.

Love For Your Neighbor

laitman_527_02Baal HaSulam, The Last Generation, Pragmatic Communism Accepting the religion of “Love your neighbor as yourself,” literally.
Literally means that through our correction we must reach the state that my neighbor will become more important to me than myself.
From the materialistic point of view, this is completely incomprehensible and unrealistic. And according to Kabbalah, it follows that when people begin to develop under the influence of the higher forces that bring them to the state of love your neighbor, then a very simple correspondence is revealed.
It is that your attitude toward your neighbor that determines your attitude toward the Creator, and your attitude toward yourself determines your attitude toward yourself on the animate level.
In other words, a person begins to divide him or herself into two parts: the animate, materialistic part and the equivalence with the Creator. To achieve equivalence with the Creator means to reach the Creator’s level. One can ascend to it from his animate level only if one begins to treat others more attentively, better, with more love than for himself.
This reflects a person’s attitude toward the Creator. After all, it is not about the neighbor, but about how a person raises himself to the spiritual, divine level.
Executing the law “love your neighbor as yourself” must become human nature. A person will feel, understand, and participate in certain studies and activities, consciously adopting this technique. And society will begin to explain and teach people this technique. All institutions of the last generation, courts, schools, etc., will be needed only to help people give up love for themselves to reach the higher phase of nature.
Question: But along with this will stronger egoism be revealed?
Response: Egoism will unfold exactly to the extent that a person can rise above it to the next spiritual level. On one hand, a person can hate his neighbor more than before, and, on the other hand, one can rise above this hatred and love him even more.

Does The Light Exist?

laitman_276.01Question: I do not understand: is Light is a desire or an intention? Is my desire to bestow a fulfillment and Light for the one I give to?
Answer: Light is what we perceive. We cannot say anything about something that is beyond us. This means we cannot talk about the Creator before He is clothed in us. What exists and is not clothed in us is called Atzmuto (His Essence), and we do not give Him any particular name.
Is there Light outside of us? This I do not know. I can say that it exists only when it exists inside of me.
We talk only about what we attain because Kabbalah is a science. What we attain in our internal “software” is what actually exists.

The Way To Unlimited Pleasure

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What is intention? Did the Creator create it? Or do we create it ourselves?
Answer: Specifically because a person has the possibility of being in opposite and contrary states, one state is intentionally expressed in relation to another.
If I want something, this indicates that I have an intention to receive a particular kind of pleasure for myself. In general, we call this intention desire. The question is in what manner I want to apply it: Is it for myself or for others? Here an intention already appears from the next level in relation to the Creator. We define the word “intention” as the realization of each desire in a unique format. In every desire or intention, there are many levels.
Question: If my intention is directed for the sake of another person or for the sake of the Creator, this is called altruism. Does an intention like this reach a person from the Creator?
Answer: Yes, it comes from the Creator, because it is from this that a person learns how he must bestow.
Question: Is a Kabbalist really constantly making calculations? “For whom am I drinking? For whom am I going now?” After all, it is possible to go crazy like that!
Answer: No. When you carry this out inside, within the desire, this doesn’t require any energy, on the contrary, you receive energy from it.
Question: Well, this is a constant struggle! According to my nature, I want to drink tea for my own sake, but I need to drink for the sake of the Creator. Am I always found in such a war?
Answer: A person receives enormous additional pleasure from bestowal, not just pleasure from the tea that he drinks but because he is doing it for someone. Suppose that your mother asks you to drink a cup of tea; an impression is left in you that you did this for your mother, and then the pleasure becomes egoistic. I received that and enjoyed it.
And what’s next? It is necessary to progress onward. Which is to say, it is now up to you to receive an even greater pleasure and again build an intention.
Question: Is this talking about pleasures like drinking tea, coffee, and the like?
Answer: Why not? The same pleasure that is found in a cup of coffee, if it is possible to call it pleasure, is found in the infinite eternal Light. There is only one source of pleasure, the Creator, and we are a desire that was created to enjoy receiving from Him.
Question: In our world, a desire appears in me to drink tea, but what pleasure can there be in the next world from this? After all, there is no body there.
Answer: What is the difference? Desire is also not corporeal. In the upper world, there is only a desire to give pleasure to someone and to have pleasure from this. I understand that this is a more exalted, better, infinite, and unlimited pleasure, not because it is good for me, but because I want others to have pleasure. This is the characteristic that I receive from the upper Light.
You can ask, “Do you give pleasure to the Creator, as if you feed your baby with a spoon?” The answer is “Yes.” “Then it’s not a problem, I also feed my little son with a spoon and enjoy this.”
But this is purely an egoistic calculation. To avoid this, you must first hate the object for which you do this. There is no love without hatred. Everything should necessarily be built on two opposite qualities. At that, hatred is by no means destroyed, it supports love, and love supports hatred. And so they exist together.

Why Are We All Becoming Increasingly More Intolerant?

laitman_547.06In the News (BBC): “In the US, Australia and Europe, the gap between liberals and conservatives, the left and the right is widening. Look at social media, and it can feel like antipathy towards the other side is becoming increasingly intense.
“In the US, for example, ‘very unfavourable’ views of the other party more than doubled between 1992 and 2014, according to polls by the Pew Research Center. Fast-forward to 2016 and most – as opposed to just many – Republicans and Democrats view the opposition in deeply negative terms. Of nearly 5,000 people surveyed, over half believe the opposition is ‘closed-minded’, while around four in 10 are convinced supporters of the rival party are more ‘lazy’, ‘immoral’ and ‘dishonest’ than other Americans. …
“One potential explanation is the so-called group polarisation effect. Discussing views with friends might seem like the perfect way to expose the flaws in thinking and hear similar but alternative points of view. It’s not. ‘If you put a group of like-minded people in a room, their attitudes generally become even more extreme,’ says Jessica Keating, a psychologist from the University of Colorado, Boulder.”
My Comment: The reason for that is the growing individual, family, social, national, and general egoism. Lately it has stopped growing and has begun to round, which makes it opposite to us, the loners.
This means that if in the past it helped us to develop and motivated us to grow, today it forces us to unite, which is against our ego, since in order to be united in our society, we have to give up our personal egoism.
This is what the current crisis comes down to—when even egoistically we cannot make treaties between us, even if it is in order to save ourselves as we see in the EU today.
Eventually the world will become paralyzed and will come to a halt. The world trade, financial, and economic actions will stop, families will break down, treaties and agreements will be broken, and this will continue until a third world war breaks out or until the nations understand and feel from the depth of their suffering that they need to go “up to Jerusalem,” the only place where the method of unity is.

The Development Of Humankind: From Matter To Forces

laitman_220All the great philosophers, on the one hand, felt that humankind is not in harmony with nature. On the other hand, they thought that the proper organization of society would lead to this harmony and an individual would be able realize his creative potential.
All you need for this is to create the right laws, the right constitution. This caused all the revolutions.
Question: Why did humanity have to go through all this in order to come to despair? ..
Answer: This is how our egoism was formed; it had to go through all these stages, ripen, and discover its insignificance and finiteness. Such is its development. This is dialectic.
When Adam revealed the wisdom of Kabbalah, it became clear to him that the entire process was designed for 6,000 years, no less than that. Now it is the 5,777th year according to the Judaic calendar. There are 223 years left until the end of human development, and then there will be a transition to another area, to the field of forces, from matter to forces.
This is why it does not matter what the philosophers wrote, even though they could see the material future of humanity and all the possibilities for improving life. But this is not according to the laws of nature.

United With Israel: “Tu B’Av Is More Than One Day Of Love”

The largest portal United with Israel published my new article: “Tu B’Av is More than One Day of Love
Much more than hearts and flowers! Discover the unconditional love symbolized by Tu B’Av and how it can elevate the world.
In modern-day Israel, Tu b’Av (the 15th of Av) has become a feel-good day, mostly characterized by spouses buying chocolate and flowers for each other to celebrate their romance. Basically, a Jewish version of Valentine’s Day, if you will.
But Tu b’Av has been a lot more than that for the Jewish people. It is written, “There were no good days for Israel like Tu b’Av, a day when the tribes were permitted to mingle with each other and where each and every person bestowed their goodness upon their fellow man” (Tiferet Shlomo). The kind of love Tu b’Av truly represents is an unconditional love that has to spread among all Jews and then throughout the whole of humanity. And it is no coincidence that it comes right after Tisha B’Av, which represents the polar opposite – unfounded hatred.
From Unfounded Hatred to Unconditional Love
The direct transition from Tisha b’Av (ninth of Av) to Tu b’Av symbolizes the only way in which we can attain true love – by first recognizing that our state is completely opposite to it. In other words, the recognition of an unfounded hatred that dwells in our hearts is the precondition for the attainment of unconditional love between us, as is written, “Tu b’Av is the correction and mitigation of Tisha b’Av.” (Likutey Halachot).
It may not be intuitive to us, but the whole of nature works this way. Evolution displays a dynamic interplay of two opposite forces. Whether they manifest as plus and minus, hot and cold, ebb and flow, or male and female, they create deeper levels of conflict and self-interest and then greater levels of reciprocity and connection. This is how ancient bacteria evolved from hostile competition to shared responsibility, thus forming the nucleated cell. Our bodies also exemplify this perfectly, with up to 100 trillion individual cells, integrated to create a more advanced level of life.
About 4,000 years ago, Abraham, the founder of the Jewish people, understood that this natural dynamic also applies to human society. When the Babylonians around him sank into self-interest and separation, he recognized that state as a precursor for a new degree of human connection. Abraham “seeded love for all people” (Noam Elimelech, Sefer Noam Elimelech) with the vision of a higher state and “went from city to city, kingdom to kingdom, until thousands and tens of thousands joined him… and they became a nation” (Maimonides, Yad HaChazaka).
This is the little-known birth story of the Jewish people. In fact, the word “‘Yehudi’ [Jewish] means ‘Yechidi’ – one who clings to the point of life, which is where unity is.” (The Admor of Gur, Sefat Emet).
Where is the Love Today?
The Hebrew calendar says it is time for the festival of love, but reality shows that the Jewish people are perhaps more divided than ever, with growing rifts between liberals and conservatives, Israeli Jews and Diaspora Jews, and between the various factions within Israel itself – possibly the harshest hostility demonstrated daily.
However, just as Abraham saw thousands of years ago, the hatred and separation that persist within the Jewish people today is not coincidental. It’s an evolutionary stage, a precursor to the next degree of Jewish unity.
And in our time, there is even more that’s brewing under the surface. Since the formation of the people of Israel in Babylon, the world began to feel that Jews hold onto something special and to ponder what binds them together. Thinkers, leaders, scientists and artists from various nations have written about this riddle for centuries.
“What is the Jew?” contemplated illustrious Russian author Leo Tolstoy. “What kind of unique creature is this whom all the rulers of all the nations of the world have disgraced and crushed and expelled and destroyed… continues to live and to flourish?” (The Final Resolution). Mark Twain expressed this even more bluntly, saying that, “all things are mortal but the Jew; all other forces pass, but he remains. What is the secret of his immortality?” (“Concerning the Jews”).
So what is it that the Jews hold the access to? They hold the method for building a network of altruistic connections above the growing self-interest. And the nature of human development is such that humanity is gradually generating a greater and greater need for this method. Thus, the method of attaining true love among human beings, which is the foundation of the Jewish people, is gradually becoming what the whole world needs.
The Method for Attaining Love
For the past 2,000 years or so, what remained from the method of unity that created the Jewish people are mostly symbols, such as the customs and holidays that have become today’s Judaism as we know it. Only a handful of people in each generation continued to engage in and develop the method of unity. Over time, this method took on the name, “the wisdom of Kabbalah.”
Contrary to popular belief, authentic Kabbalah has nothing to do with mysticism, amulets, astrology and other misconceptions that have been linked to it throughout the centuries. Rather, it is about upgrading our nature from the growing self-love that leads us to crises and leaves us with a limited perception of reality to an equivalence with the force of unconditional love that permeates all of nature.
The wisdom of Kabbalah has the tools and knowledge to prepare us for the whole new level of human life and experience that the world is inevitably moving towards. And so, from Kabbalah’s perspective, Tu b’Av is not about paying compliments to each other for one day and then going back to fighting and biting. Rather, this day should be a compelling symbol for the work we have to do every day in order to rise to a new level of connection between us and to share it with all of human society. As the luminary Kabbalist Yehuda Ashlag wrote, “all our work is to discover love within us, each and every day.” (A Sage’s Fruit).

Do We Need A Family In The Modern World?

laitman_543.02Question from Facebook: In the past, a family was created for economic reasons. Today, a person does not need a family to live and enjoy life. Moreover, it hinders him and just creates problems. So, why start a family?
Answer: Indeed, in the past a man needed a wife to serve him, children to help him in old age, a house to live in, friends, relatives—in general, the closest circle.
A person needed to be supported in trouble, in illness, and eventually be attended to at a funeral. And today he does not need this; there are all kinds of social services that deal with this.
Does one need a wife? No, he does not. He can have a new wife every day. Children? Why does he need children? They grow up and from the age of ten he hardly sees them, only when they ask for money. They have no regard for their parents, and he will not get help from them in old age either.
Today, a person is separated from his natural roots: family, wife, children, parents, and home. Even the place of work no longer is binding. In the past people worked in one place all their lives. Where is all this today?
Question: It turns out that society’s main cell, the family, no longer exists?
Answer: Unfortunately, no one wants anything. Women do not want to marry, do not want to have children, although by nature they have a desire for children, a husband, a family, and a home.
Question: So do we need a family in the long run or not?
Answer: Whether we need it or not need depends on the goal. If the goal justifies the means, then the means is necessary, and if not, then there’s no need for it.
Question: Do you mean that now humanity has such goals that it does not need a family?
Answer: Of course. But if I know that to achieve the goal I need a family, then I will create it and will cherish it.
Humanity must acquire a goal, and then it will understand how to live and whether it is necessary to live. Today, many people in the world are questioning whether it is worth living.
Separation of children from their parents is subconsciously taking place also because they are troubled by the question: “Why did my parents bring me into the world? So that I would hang out in life and suffer? I’m useless; nobody needs me—not me or others. Wait till I die? For this they gave birth to me? They enjoyed it, and they did it for their own delight, but I have no enjoyment from life. So give me some drugs and I will somehow exist.”
Question: What should be the goal in life for the sake of which a family is needed?
Answer: The goal for which a family is needed is to reach the next level of existence: complete, eternal, infinite, and giving absolute attainment. We cannot imagine this and do not even want to imagine it. We are tired of everything! That is why it is very difficult to explain this to people.
We need to break out of life for our own sake—this is our limitation. As soon as we feel that there is another method of existence, it will become much easier for us.
In this case, a family is needed because it is one of the systems of similarity to the upper system of nature. To move to the upper goal, one must get married, have a family and children, especially men.
And the goal is to reach the next level of existence, when we replace egoistic existence with an altruistic one. This reveals completely different depths of nature, existence in other dimensions, when not our universe is a home for us, but an entirely different universe.
Question: How are relations in the family adjusted then?
Answer: They are adjusted only in accordance with what a person sees as the goal of his upper existence. Guided by this, the family is kept and children are raised. Otherwise, nothing will exist.
Question: Does the concept of love exist in a family that has a purpose?
Answer: Love is the correct relationship that allows you to achieve this ultimate goal. And nothing more.

Sex, Love, Test Tubes And Nature

laitman_546.03In the News (Quartz): “It doesn’t take long for seemingly outlandish ideas to become normalized. Today, Stanford University professor Hank Greely’s assertion that Americans will stop having sex to procreate sounds absurd. But in a couple of decades, he predicts, that will be the accepted reality.
“Greely, director of Stanford Law School’s Center for Law and the Biosciences, believes that we’re 20 to 30 years away from a time when most American procreation will begin by selecting from a range of embryos created with the parents’ DNA in a lab. This already happens on a limited basis for disease prevention and occasionally sex selection, but he argues it will become far cheaper and widely available thanks to stem cell technology that will allow couples to make eggs and sperm out of stem cells from their skin.”
My Comment: We should welcome this option if a person suffers from an incurable disease so as not to pass it on to his offspring. In addition, the condition of the father or mother can be tested and necessary changes can be made. We can do it. We already have such “tweezers” that enable us to raise a good and healthy generation. Humanity has always aspired for that.
Basically, if every person were allowed to have healthy, beautiful, strong, and successful children, he would want that. So it is quite possible that we are advancing toward that.
Question: So what is the meaning of conceiving with love?
Answer: What does love have to do with it?! When it comes to conceiving, we are like animals; we only confuse the two things! Is there love between animals? They smell each other and the smell alone is enough in order to tell them whether they can reproduce. It isn’t sex but the culture. For cats, for example, it is spring time, and during the rest of the year they just lie tranquilly in the sun. That’s the way it is with animals.
And we confuse pleasure with reproduction. Sex is a pleasure just like good food. Why should it be connected to having children? Today we see how much one has nothing to do with the other. We hardly want to conceive one child! Why should we have sex for 50 years?
Comment: Humanity sees things in a totally different manner…
Answer: No, it doesn’t see things differently. Humanity simply doesn’t understand where it already is. Love doesn’t go along with sex, and reproduction has nothing to do with love or even with sex.
Question: What is a corrected family in your opinion?
Answer: It is very hard for me to describe a corrected family since in such a family there are first and foremost good relations between its members above all the problems.
We have to change our attitude to people and this will change our whole life. Then we will see how to maintain a good family life. But without changing our attitude, of course, it will certainly be awful.
Question: With such kind, ideal relationships in the corrected family, what will be the attitude to having children? Let’s say we are a couple living by the rule of love of others…
Answer: I think that if we truly relate to each other that way, then nature itself will begin to regulate humanity and our mutual relations. We will not connect beastliness with being human, and we will see life in a totally different way.
We cannot understand that today. Today we are locked on the beastly life and the beastly family, on the need to be together in order to exist, to survive, to raise children. In the corrected family, on the other hand, there will be a totally different atmosphere.
So it is hard for me to say, but there will be completely different relationships between sex, family, love, and reproduction according to the law of nature. According to the rule of “love thy friend as thyself,” we will see exactly what is best for us.
Question: Will there be a need for pills or any other contraceptives?
Answer: No. Everything will be regulated by nature alone. We only have to regulate the good relations between us.

Ari – The Turning Point From Darkness to Light

laitman_222_0Ari, “Tree of Life”: Behold, that before the emanations were emanated and the creatures were created, the upper simple Light had filled the whole existence…
The goal of creation is to bring the creations to the attainment of the Creator, to adhesion with Him, to reaching His level. The entire development of the human being in this world throughout thousands of years is directed at the realization of this task.
There were many people throughout human history who were able to come out of the animal degree into the human one, starting from Adam, the first man, Adam HaRishon. Such people are called Kabbalists, and during all the generations they kept helping others to come to the attainment of the upper force, to enter the spiritual degree.
Our whole life in this world, within our egoistic desire, is there for the purpose of coming out of it and elevating ourselves to the level of bestowal, to the highest existence—eternal and boundless.
So we ought to thank those people, who, having attained the Creator themselves, exerted all their efforts to develop the science of Kabbalah, helping others reach the same degree and go through the same states on the way to attaining the highest reality.
All evolution can be divided into two stages. Initially, there is an instinctive maturation and the development of the desire for pleasure. However, at some point that desire develops to the extent of demanding its correction into the desire to bestow. That turning point is symbolized by a special Kabbalist, whose name was Ari.
That messenger from above did for us what no one else has ever done. There is no other person who has made a greater contribution to the general correction. Starting with him, humanity entered the period of deliverance. For it was the Ari who revealed the science of Kabbalah, the methodology of correction, who took it from above and brought it deep down for us.
That is why today’s date [July 27, 2017] is so important for us—Ari’s Memorial Day. For everything we have in our spiritual life, what we strive for, investing our whole life into, has really come from the great Ari. It is the soul that symbolizes the turning point from the world of darkness into the world of correction.
He was the first Kabbalist who brought people the practical methodology of correction that includes the structure of the upper worlds, the circulation of souls, distribution of Light, and development. He linked these explanations to the holidays and quotes from the Torah.
Ari created the language of Kabbalah amd made it possible for study, research, and implementation. He translated Kabbalah from the language of parables and hints, received before him among the Kabbalists, into a modern, precise, scientific language: measures, degrees, Aviut (depth of the desire), Kashiut (strength of the screen)—all scientific terms.
After him, Kabbalah turned into a real science, due to the highest degree that Ari has attained, allowing him to encompass the whole upper world.
That is why he begins his writings from the four stages of Direct Light, in all the details. All the structure of the worlds that the science of Kabbalah teaches came from Ari. Baal HaSulam writes that he attained his spiritual heights due to the fact, that he received an embryo of the soul of Ari. Because of this special soul, Baal HaSulam reached his attainments and continued the work of Ari.

“They Will Flee From You In Seven Directions”

Laitman_632.1Torah, Deuteronomy 28:07: The Lord will cause your enemies who rise up against you, to be beaten before you; they will come out against you in one direction, but they will flee from you in seven directions.
There is one force that spoils everything, our egoism. However, when we begin to work with it, the upper Light breaks it down into a spectrum of seven paths from red to ultraviolet.
By decomposing into seven parts, as through a prism, egoism reveals before you the entire picture on which you read the qualities of the Creator, interact with Him, and adhere to Him. That is, you discover yourself. The prism is you. Everything passes through you.
Egoism adds one single egoistic desire to you. You connect with the upper Light that returns to the source, which, passing through you, builds a prism out of you. So, it turns out that you already consist of seven Sefirot, seven colors: Hessed, Gevura, Tifferet, Netzach, Hod, Yessod, and Malchut. These seven colors give you a complete picture of the Creator—the source of the Light itself. Thus, you become a person.
Question: How can we break this down into three lines? Does this mean that the left line is one force and the right line covers it?
Answer: Both lines complement each other, as it is written, ”The darkness will shine like the light.” There is no difference between night and day because they are opposite; all the lights are manifested. The lights are revealed in the middle line with the correct combination of the left line and the right line.

To Judge With Love

Laitman_098Baal HaSulam, The Writings of the Last Generation: Thus, if one is guilty of not giving all his work hours, then his time is either reduced or made easier, or the way he provides it is made easier for him. Sometimes he is given time to spend at school, to teach him the great merit of “bestowal upon others.” It all depends on the view of the judges.
If a person cannot work for the benefit of others to the full extent of which he is capable, he brings tremendous harm to society. In that case, society shows him that if he is being lazy, if he cannot work for the common good, then it will reduce the share that he is asked to contribute.
Is this a punishment or an encouragement? It would appear that society seems to be accommodating him by reducing his work hours and giving him more time to rest. At the same time, however, he can sense how much worse everyone regards him now.
Comment: I once worked in a factory. There, lazy workers were deprived of their merit or annual bonuses, or their photos were removed from the employee “wall of fame.” As a result, likely out of fear, their work improved, whereas here, everything is the other way around.
My Response: The fact of the matter is that a person in our society can easily dismiss all kinds of egoistic accusations, but in the future society, they approach everything only with love. Such an attitude toward a person cannot leave him indifferent.
He begins to feel shame and he cannot let that go because the human being in him is being humiliated. After all, a person is evaluated to the measure of his contribution to society. He suddenly begins to feel that if his working hours are reduced, then he will not give enough love and warmth, everything that he would have wanted to give.
He is shown that he is still a small person, and this stings him, it hurts. This precisely is a court that judges only with love, not in order to punish, but to correct, to help a person bring out and more vividly express his full potential.

A Kabbalist’s Concerns

laitman_961.2Question: They say that a Kabbalist doesn’t think about himself at all. What does not thinking about yourself mean?
Answer: A Kabbalist thinks about himself more than everyone else because he associates himself with the whole world. By relating to himself as an inseparable part of creation, he thinks about all of humanity; he has immense desires, immense intentions, and immense demands.
All of this is expressed very strongly within him, but not with an egoistic inclination as in our world. Therefore, he has more concerns than any other person.
A Kabbalist thinks about how to bring all the souls into one system, into one single form. This is his permanent inner work. But it is not expressed in any form externally. Only other Kabbalists can feel it.

“From Your Deeds We Shall Know You”

Laitman_079.01Question: One of the principles for attaining higher power is the principle: “From your deeds we shall know You” (Shir HaYichud). How does one use that?
Answer: “From your deeds we shall know You” means that I need to acquire the deeds of the Creator through what He does to me.
The deeds of the Creator are everything that happens around me and within me. In these deeds, I must discover the Creator as the one who manages everything.

“And The Lord Will Grant You Good Surplus In The Fruit Of Your Womb”

laitman_275Torah, Deuteronomy 28:11: And the Lord will grant you good surplus in the fruit of your womb, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your soil, on the land which the Lord swore to your forefathers, to give you.
All the egoistic desire that arise within you now is called the land of Israel. It does not arise in ordinary people; they do not reach these huge, extremely egoistic, and antagonistic desires. And you will begin to feel them. This is called the entrance to the land of Israel.
You process these desires; that is, you subjugate them to your intention of bestowal and love, and thus you receive blessing in your country.
It is written, “And the Lord will grant you good surplus in the fruit of your womb.” Surplus means the revelation of the Light of Hochma. In the desert, before the entrance to the land of Israel, the Light of Hassadim was revealed and now the Light of Hochma is revealed, due to which birth and development take place.
The Light of Hassadim just holds you in a steady state of expectation. However, we need to develop it too because the Light of Hochma dresses into it. Therefore, as soon as the Light of Hochma begins approaching, immediately there is a need for the Light of Hassadim. After all, without it the Light of Hochma is like a sharp knife or fire that destroys everything. These are called Dinim, the qualities of judgment.
Question: Does it mean that everything that happens today in the world is a consequence of the deficiency of the Light of Hassadim?
Answer: Yes. Huge, egoistic desire appears. Above it is the Light of Hochma that must enter this desire. However, the space that the Light of Hassadim must fill is empty. We need to attract the Light of Hassadim, and we can only do this if we will relate to each other correctly.
If we reach the Light of Hassadim, then grace will pour out into the entire world.

The Impact Of Conventions On The World

laitman_938.03Question: Can a Kabbalah convention change anything in our world? Does it have an impact on the world?
Answer: A convention undoubtedly has a positive impact on the world. After all, we exist in this world and the upper Light is conveyed through us to our world as well.

Being Content With Necessities

laitman_565.01One may be diligent, but no person shall enjoy the society more than the backward. There will be an equal standard of living for all. (Baal HaSulam, The Last Generation)
This is natural. If we are talking about a perfect society, then obviously everyone receives according to their needs.
We all differ both in our spiritual and corporeal attainment: you need one thing for your life, and I need another. That is why everyone should receive whatever they require according to their spiritual or physiological background. No more. No one can argue with that because everything stems from the upper root.
Question: Can a person be happy receiving less than another?
Answer: Why not? Everyone would limit themselves in their demands, but would try to exceed as much as possible in what they give because that is the way they attain the common soul and the Creator within it.
The last generation goes through different stages, but eventually it will have to reach a state where people, from the endlessly large supply, would decide themselves what is necessary for them because they will not feel the desire for anything else.
Question: And this is how they would derive their joy? Meaning, the enjoyment they will receive, is it from the connection with the Creator?
Answer: That is the root of all joy; therefore, it exceeds everything else.
