Choosing Between Life And Death

Rabash, Article “The Soul of Israel” (from Dargot HaSulam, Article No. 561): Those who preserve a unified soul of Israel, meaning the ones who weigh others on the scale of merit, retain their souls since “the wicked, in their lives, are called “dead.”

Without an inclination to justify others, one becomes “half and half,” similar to being between life and death. If one is predisposed to the good, it means that one belongs to the category of life. Thus, the Lights that one attracts fill the entire society.

We are at the crucial point since we possess a freedom of choice that allows us to choose between life and death, meaning to aspire to the good or to the evil. If we unite, then according to the nature of the property that we attain, we become similar to the Light and the Light starts streaming through us. The Light fills us and through us reaches the nations of the world and influences them.

This is the way our society is constructed. It consists of two parts: the Light goes through the upper part, Galgalta ve Eynaim, Israel, and descends to the lower part, AHP, the nations of the world. This happens when Israel weighs itself to the scale of merit.

If Israel doesn’t unite, but rather separates, mutually repulses, or rejects the condition to be “as one man with one heart,” the Light won’t be able to go through it. When a bottle neck is blocked, the Light cannot descend from the world of Infinity to all created beings. It means that Israel weighs the entire world on the scale of guilt.

Whether we want it or not, by the fact of being the people of Israel, we are positioned inside a pipe that channels the Light of Infinity to the world, thus leading the entire world either to goodness or suffering.

Question: What are we supposed to do to transition from the state of death to life?

Answer: Everything depends on our connection or disconnection. We must become similar to the Light, or else we are just opposite to it. In spirituality, there is only one law, the law of similarity of form between the created being and the Creator.

The Heart Of The Nation

Question: What connection is required of us? Is it the same thoughts and opinions?

Answer: How is each of us connected with their children? Do we have the same thoughts and opinions as they do? However, love will cover all sins!

Comment: This is quite true, but we are quite different in our home. Even twins are different. Therefore, it is impossible to reach the same opinion, yet we are very connected and close to each other. I do not know how it happens, but we are united by hearts.

Answer: It is that you love your children, despite all the differences between you. This is the kind of connection that is called “Love covers all transgressions.”

Question: Does it turn out that everyone can stay with his views, left or right?

Answer: Of course. If my children do not share my views, does this reduce my love for them? No! They are totally unrelated things. Similarly, it is in relation to other people.

Question: The last war revealed sharp differences among the people, between left and right, hardliners and peacekeepers. If we achieve unity of the people, will everyone be able to have his opinion?

Answer: In any case, I will feel one man with one heart, regardless of the differences in our views. Love between us must be paramount to bring us to unity, to the connection of one man with one heart, and under all that, if we have differences, that’s not so bad.

Question: However, if there is a disagreement of opinion, is it very hard to connect?

Answer: Suppose that there are differences, but the “One who creates peace in heaven will unite us.” We finally will understand how to do this. You just need to begin to act. There is no need to try to understand everything in advance. We are not capable of this now. So, we should just start to work, to unite with each other, to participate in workshopsand discussions in circles.

Thus, we will discover that even though we are all different and distant from each other, despite this, we can build a common center of feeling. In this overall experience, we feel together as one heart for everyone.

When we are sitting together and talking, everyone trying to get out of himself and become integrated with others, in the center of our connection, we turn into one person with one heart. By this, we will open the tap, and the Light is shed through such a united group to the entire world.

If ten men of the people of Israel try to unite in this way, then as a result, millions of people of the nations of the world will feel that their lives are improving and thus, will change their attitude toward Israel, and if the world’s opinion changes, Hamas will not be able to do anything against us!

Question: What hope can you give us to solve this crisis?

Answer: I do not give any hope, but I am giving you an effective tool, the tool to unite people. What is required from us is not faith, but action. I wish us luck!

Urgently Needed: Helpers For Abraham

Question: Did Israel convey abundance and Light to the worlds in the past?

Answer: Israel have never conveyed abundance to the worlds because it wasn’t our role. We are in an evolutionary process that started with Adam HaRishon, a time that was merely a preparation.

Then Abraham began to organize the pioneer force of all of humanity. He made an appeal and began to teach the people of Babylon and wrote books, as Rambam wrote.

He didn’t simply take them out from Babylon to the land of Canaan, but did great spiritual work. It seems that he didn’t do it by himself, but he had many helpers assisting him, although it doesn’t say so anywhere. Abraham is the symbol of a whole generation, the house of Abraham. He did great work in Babylon. There wasn’t one person in Babylon who didn’t know about it.

Rambam wrote: “Abraham was forty years old when he came to know his Maker. He began to speak to all the people and to let them know that there is one God in the world and that they should worship Him. He used to go from one city to the next and from one kingdom to another and call and gather hundreds of thousands. These are the people of the house of Abraham. He implanted this great principle in their hearts and wrote books, and this process intensified in the sons in Jacob and in those who accompanied them, and a whole nation was created that knows the Lord.”

This means that it was a long whole process, and Abraham needed time in order to go through Babylon and organize his group and gather thousands of disciples. This means that the people, the souls, that were connected to the level Abraham operated on, received his message and began to act too.

Babylon corrected itself. One adhered to Abraham and followed him and another according to his desire, decided to draw away from Abraham. It is the same today when each one fulfills his own desire and chooses his own way.

Then they dispersed in every direction, according to their desires, and gathered in different groups, tribes. This is the way the world exists until this very day, but Abraham’s group had to fulfill itself and so they built the First Temple, the first step in their spiritual correction.

Immediately afterward they began to fall, since the moment you attain a certain level and fulfill it in the spiritual world, a new state immediately begins. So they began to descend: they were exiled and then returned to the land of Israel in order to stabilize the vessel on the level of Hassadim, which was the Second Temple.

The Second Temple was also destroyed. Rabbi Akiva knew this was destined to happen. He laughed at the destruction of the Second Temple since he was glad that the time of the end of correction was coming.

On the one hand, he cried out and said that people should keep the rule of love thy friend as thyself. They had to hold on to this love and unity. This means that he cried for his disciples and for the great efforts he had invested in them, but they fell to unfounded hatred. On the other hand, he knew that that was the way it had to be and was glad that the time of the next phase had come, the phase of correction.

Find The Formula For Happiness

Happiness is not measured by wealth or by the size of one’s house, not with how many electrical appliances there are in the kitchen, nor by success in business. It is impossible to measure it with material values.

First of all, the feeling of happiness is not subjective; it encompasses whole groups of people. On the one hand, there is a measurement of integrality in the index of happiness: If everyone around me is miserable, I cannot be happy.

Let’s say I can feel strong, this is also temporary because this also requires confirmation from some part of the society. The happiness could be felt in collective unity when there is support and agreement between the people.

Secondly, even though the person wants to achieve what has been taught by society: money, status, power, fame, and so forth, essentially he subconsciously is seeking a feeling of happiness. But since they don’t teach him this, he remains miserable all of his life with a feeling of a lack of real fulfillment. In his latter days of life, when he looks at the past, he understands that there was no benefit to his life: not for himself, not for his children or grandchildren; they, like him, will not be happy.

So finding the formula for happiness and teaching it to others is the most important thing in life. Moreover, if you don’t teach others, then you cannot be happy yourself, because the feeling of happiness, as studies have shown, depends on this being felt among the people around you. This is what the wisdom of Kabbalah is involved with.

Psychology Of The Masses

Sefira Daat requires conscious participation in the Creator’s Providence. The whole world is approaching this situation.

Connection with the Creator is everlasting, but at first, we do not pay attention to it; it’s like a newly born child who wiggles his hands and feet and doesn’t know where he is. But sometimes it happens that an infant has delayed development: He is supposed to understand, respond, smile, ask, demand; according to the “developmental timeframe” he is already six months old and thus he is treated accordingly, but he still behaves as if he is only one month old. This kind of discrepancy, this gap, is in fact the crisis that we are going through nowadays.

One shouldn’t indulge a child when he is falling behind, otherwise the child won’t grow.

The clock doesn’t stop, that is why we are going through suffering.

Sefira Daat is a completely new state. It emerges as a result of our demand. The whole secret is that it’s us who have to call, demand, and respond to the Creator to the degree of our understanding and sensing Him; we should adhere to His thought and acknowledge His program of creation to the extent that we are willing to participate in it. This is Sefira Daat.

The word Daat (comprehension) includes wisdom (Hochma) and understanding (Bina), a vessel and the Light. We begin understanding, sensing, and realizing the processes that go on around us; we start becoming similar to the Creator; we accept His Providence and His guidance of the whole system. With the help of the vessels of bestowal we control the vessels of receiving.

It’s not only my own personal system as it was before, it’s our joint system. I include myself in Bina to the degree of my ability to exit myself and approach my neighbor, another. For me my neighbor  is Bina to which I ascend in the state of Malchut. I look forSefira Daat inside of my connection with others, within the thoughts and desires of the group. The common ground that exists between all of us and which is outside of each of us is in fact my comprehension. That’s where I obtain the force of receiving and a force of bestowal, but most importantly I reveal Keter, the Creator, there.

Question: How is Sefira Daat connected to Reshimot that are related to such ascending?

Answer: It is in fact a Reshimo in its pure form, the necessity. Let’s say I am in a certain state and I wake up, reveal, polish, and shape it as something that has a need to bestow. How do I implement it? Through approaching other people, my neighbors, i.e., the group. I visualize my inclusion in the group as my higher state where I find desire and intelligence that are shared by my friends. I rise above and detach from myself, there is nothing left in me except my desire to get out of myself. I completely plug into the common intelligence and general feeling of the group.

This is the only way we can visualize Sefira Daat. Intelligence and feelings that we reveal in it are Hochma and Bina. Next, we reveal the One who shapes them, Keter, the Creator. This is exactly the problem that we are all facing at this time; it is not an easy one.

Question: So, Daat is in fact our collective mind?

Answer: Yes. Herds of animals instinctively acquire a collective mind, which is higher than their individual intellect. People who in a crowd, on the contrary, lose their mind and descend to a lower level since they cannot connect with others on a higher plane. As a result, they lose independence and submit to a common force, some element is being chosen from Above through which masses are being controlled. As a rule, such person (“element”) possesses strong charisma, ability to “hypnotize” and lead the rest of the public.

When becoming a part of the masses, individuals lose their distinctiveness. Those who belong to a crowd follow its rules. It’s a law of nature. As a part of the masses (99%), personal desire and thinking abilities lower to a zero, everybody turns into a “flock” and are ready to do whatever it takes as soon as they do it together, without any personal self-control.

Everybody runs and I run with them too, as if I am being driven by some outside force.

On the other hand, in the group (1%), we have to use this law consciously and rise above our personal egoism, which permanently swivels and grows, it doesn’t let us “dissolve” in our friends as other people “melt” in the crowd. This is how we grow. The group vigorously applies a lot of strength to unite above its egoism. We participate in this process and by doing so we rise together with our desire from Malchut into Bina and Daat.

The difference between the two states is the Creator. Masses remain at a zero level. We rise to Him a hundred percent (100%) through all 125 steps. It happens because the egoism, Daat, constantly makes obstacles on our way and separates us from others by triggering contempt, hatred, jealousy, etc. It doesn’t allow us to unite. For that, we have to find the higher force. We cannot do without it.

Speaking of masses, the power of the Creator shows itself in them on an instinctive, animate level, we can see its outcome in the streets. Mass psychology has been well researched and is used to manipulate crowds. Manipulation methods are simple: diminish intellect to the largest extent possible, offer a number of slogans, and find a charismatic leader; nothing more than that.

We employ an opposite psychology: whether you want it or not, you become smarter, crueler, and more dominant. This is the problem of Israeli people: How can one manage it if everyone thinks that they are prime ministers? Nevertheless, we continue to grow.

In the future, all humankind will become one system that consists of two parts: “head” and “body.” Eventually, all souls will become included into one another and all discrepancies will be eliminated. Everybody will work perfectly and nobody will prevail over others.

At this time we’ll acknowledge that all the work was done by the Creator and that everything is perfect.
We all are equal to Him.

Heavenly “Milk”

Question: Can we come to the suffering of Shechina from our state?

Answer: Many of us have pets: a dog or cat. They know who their owners are and they follow them around the house all day long. Wherever their owners go, their pets go there too. But if their owner grieves or cries, the pets don’t “feel” the owners’ tears because their desires are at a much lower level. In the same way, the suffering of the Shechina are at a higher level, and we simply are unable to sense it.

Moreover, if I never suffered in this life, I cannot sympathize with others. For example, the majority of people have never experienced famine. They never starved. For our generation it is normal. It’s quite rare that someone has no food at all for several days in a row. It sometimes happens that we are hungry because we had no time to eat, but none of us ever experienced real starvation. That’s why for us it is impossible to understand what those people who have absolutely nothing to eat go through. We cannot share their pain.

We can’t feel the Shechina’s sufferings because Her pain is generated by a desire to give everything She has, but there is nobody who wants to take it. Subconsciously, people suffer because of their inability to exist at the level of the world of Infinity, but they don’t acknowledge or realize this fact. However, we have to rise to this level.

The Shechina’s affliction belongs to the next level. Can you imagine your dog crying when you are upset? Let’s say, your friend died and you are crying and mourning. Can your dog share your pain? No! The dog can only sense that you are in a bad mood, not more than that.

This explains why we are incapable of connecting with the Shechina. If not for the Upper Light that develops the desire through the four stages of the direct Light – from the initial inanimate level to the vegetative, animate and speaking stages, we won’t be ever able to climb to the top. It is the Light that does it for us; we are not the ones who do it. If we want to rise from our animate desire to the speaking level called “man” (Adam, similar to the Creator and the Shechina), we need the Upper Light to help us.

However, after the inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels, including the highest step of the animate desire (a human being, the last variation of “monkeys’ that belong to this realm) were created, the Upper Light stopped the process.

In order to rise to the next step, we have to be the ones who trigger the Light! Then, It will develop our desires to the next level, because a desire is the only material of creation. The desires of the next stage will be the desires of the Shechina, the revelation of the Creator, the property of bestowal. We have to attain this level because our job is to attract the Upper Light onto ourselves.

This is where the wisdom of Kabbalah steps in because it is a methodology of attracting the Upper Light, the system of self-development that allows us to seek the external help of the Upper; however, it happens only if we are the ones who trigger the Light.

If we don’t seek the Light, it’s similar to a cow that suffers because of an excess of milk; when she cannot carry it inside herself any longer and milk flows from her udders, and there is nobody to milk her.

However, the Upper Light continues pouring, but we don’t sense It inside our Kelim(vessels), but rather around them. We cannot receive the Light into ourselves because we don’t yet have similarity of properties with it. We don’t want to bestow or receive for the sake of bestowal; this is why the Upper “milk” pours all around us and we feel very bad. We realize that there is abundance around us, but not inside us.

So now the wisdom of Kabbalah is revealed. It never happened before, but it is happening now! All that took place before our time is called the “forefathers.” These are the steps that humanity had to go through in order to prepare the methodology of correction for us. Today, we must implement this methodology in life.

Kabbalah speaks about becoming similar to the Upper Light with the help of daily activities and by building relationships among us that exist at the spiritual level. If we start doing it, the Light will impact us to the extent of our efforts.

Then gradually, the drops of “milk” that Dvinity dispenses will penetrate into us, enlighten and correct us; thus, we’ll change. As a result, we’ll aspire to rise to the level of “Adam” and will want the same things as the Upper Light, Shechina: we’ll aim at receiving for the sake of bestowal; we’ll strive to be “Bnei Eichal”, i.e. the sons who comprise the UpperKli (vessel).

This state can be reached only by attracting the Upper Light that manifests in us only through our similarity with It in everything: in the way we interact with each other, disseminate, and to the degree of our exertions to correct the world through ourselves.

Israel Is Not A Nationality But An Aspiration

“Israel” are the souls that spiritually awakened in ancient Babylon. They are Babylonians who once sensed an aspiration to become similar to the Creator. This sensation manifested in their search for the meaning of life.

Nowadays, the same aspiration shows up in the form of external symbols. Each one who has a desire “directly to the Creator” and who wishes to reveal, connect with, and depend on the Upper Governance is called “Israel.” These people strive to reveal the meaning and essence of life more than anything else.

Israel is not an ethnicity; it’s an aspiration. This explains why people of diverse nationalities who have this desire tend to unite. At first, unity among these people appeared because of Abraham; later it happened due to Moses. The purpose of unity is to bring us to a state when we all become one man with one heart.

When united, Israel acquires similarity with the Upper Light and turns into a pipe, a channel that conveys the Upper Light. The Upper Light transitions through Israel to other Nations of the world. This is the duty of Israel.

If Israel doesn’t fulfill its mission, the nations of the world blame them, push them in various forms to fulfill their duty, and hate them for not fulfilling their task; this is called “anti-Semitism.” They demand good conduct from Israel because it affects their lives. The nations of the world demand Israel to follow their mission.

So they start to accuse Israel for all the bad that happen in this world. Even the nations that don’t know Israel and never encountered it sense their dependency on it. Presently, the strongest anti-Semitism is felt in South Korea even though they have nothing to do with Israel. But they feel it and anyone who depends on Israel has the same feeling.

The world is structured in a way that Israel serves as a channel to convey the Upper Light that descends though Israel to the rest of humanity. If Israel stands united, the channel opens, and when Israel is separated, the channel is tightly sealed. This makes it very clear that Israel is the most crucial point that determines the state the entire world will be in: good or bad.

The nations of the world do not possess any freedom of choice. They can only come to Israel and oblige it to change. We need to explain this structure to them, which they feel intuitively. They only need to understand exactly they should demand from Israel: connection and nothing but connection! General pressure will not help.

And Israel doesn’t understand what it should do. Therefore, now, the wisdom of Kabbalahis revealed when it has become possible to correct the system. Many generations ago, Kabbalists spoke about our time. In the last century, Kabbalists pointed out that during our time unity would be feasible.

The world must unite. We have no idea who belongs to the nations of the world and who is a part of Israel. Anybody who aspires to unity for the sake of attaining the Upper Light is called Israel. Those who belong to Israel must unite and attract the Light to the rest of the world.

This means that Israel has to receive the Upper Light to bring it further to the creation. This is the mission of Israel!

A Time To Act As One Man With One Heart

Israel is at war. There has never been such war before. For the first time, rockets of Israel-haters almost cover our whole country. Today in the firing range are five million Israelis. Previously, Israel was divided into climatic zones; but today, minutes and seconds were added into this division. It’s the time allotted to us and to our children to hide from incoming missiles.

We are fighting and we will be fighting until we win, but that is not the reason. Hatred motivates our enemy: How can we overcome it? We supply them with food, electricity, treat their wounded and we exchange the body of our soldiers for hundreds of live terrorists. We agree to a “humanitarian” ceasefire. And what do we get in return? Only hatred and anger.

And if it were just our neighbors. What about the internal enemies? Riots in Jerusalem, as well as the demonstrations in Judea and Samaria last week, are vivid examples.

How does the world respond to what is happening? Brazil and Ecuador are withdrawing their ambassadors. Anti-Israel demonstrations are taking place in  Germany, France, England, Italy, and other countries. They unanimously require that we get out of Gaza. In other words, they want us to not interfere with Hamas who are digging tunnels and firing rockets at us.

The whole world, not saying a word, is united against us, and us: “Where is our unity!?”

When missiles are falling on Tel Aviv, some of our people go to the streets with demonstrations against our combat with Hamas. When rioters in Paris burn shops of French Jews, American Jews protest in Manhattan with signs “Boycott Israeli Apartheid.”

HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF

History repeats itself in a horrible way. Haters of Jews are united among themselves, and the Jews are either passive, or, on the contrary, show examples of self-destructive indifference.

Before the looming Holocaust, the eminent Kabbalist of the 20^th century, Baal HaSulamasked, even begged, the Jewish people to unite, but no one listened to him. Here is what he wrote in the editorial of the first and, at the same time, last issue of HaUma (The Nation) published on June 5, 1940:

If we don’t hope for a miracle, it becomes clear that our existence—both individually and as a nation—is teetering on the scales of life and death.

If we lose time and do not rise together as one man in order to apply tremendous effort needed in the hour of danger, saving for ourselves the remaining part of Israel, then the events, happening now, will turn rampant, as the situation unfolds according to the will of our enemies, who intend to wipe us from the face of Earth.

It is also clear that the enormous efforts on the path, which lies before us and containing abundant obstacles, will require unity, firm and unbreakable as steel, of every part of our people without exception.

HOW TO UNITE

Unfortunately, few people know that Kabbalah is primarily a method of unity. Throughout history, Kabbalists united people, but there were always external and more often, internal forces that prevented this. When the idea of unity prevailed among the nation, it won, and when the nation was torn by internal contradictions, its enemies defeated it.

Today, Kabbalists are again make every effort to unite the people of Israel, and the best opportunity to experience the real power of unity are in the discussion circles that are held across the country.

With the help of the Kabbalistic method of unity, it is possible to overcome any barrier: mentality, origin, age, political views, or any other. Common efforts can overcome rejection, disagreement, and misunderstanding. We are all different, but we can become “as one man with one heart!”
