New Life #706 – Jewish Culture: The Light In The Torah

New Life #706 – Jewish Culture: The Light In The Torah
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe
Summary
Rav Laitman tells his life’s story, about his grandfather, a synagogue in Russia, and his search when he arrived in Israel. The desire to know what is behind the Jewish rituals brought him to the wisdom of Kabbalah. Kabbalah teaches us that there is a special force in nature called the Torah.
The Torah is not a book but the force for the correction of a person’s ego. When we connect, together we can draw the force of the Torah, which will build the love between us and reveal the Creator to us.
In the material world we have different symbols indicating the upper spiritual roots. The Light in the Torah is a force that is in nature like other forces, and we can reveal it in the connection between us. This force is not in a book in the Holy Ark written on parchment. The book is only a symbol of that force. This is the reason that it says: “I would rather they left Me and kept my Torah, since the Light in it reforms.” We have to pay attention to others, which means to want to reach the state of good relations between us, so that we will be as one man with one heart.
The Light gives us the answers to existential questions such as: What are we living for? And why can’t we receive everything?
Everyone understands the Torah according to his own capabilities. Thus Kabbalists don’t see stories in the Torah but the phases of correction. The Light is a natural force that can be identified with the suitable device, and that device is the special connection between us.

Return To The Likeness Of An Adam

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: If the Creator created the creature in his image and likeness, why correct it?
Answer: In the Torah it is said that the Creator created Adam. “Adam” in Hebrew means man. In other words, Adam is the ideal image of a human being who was created by the Creator in His likeness.
After that, the same Adam sinned, meaning that he fell from the spiritual level, from the characteristic of bestowal and love, from resemblance to the Creator, to a level opposite to Him, and was fragmented into tiny particles.
So now we must join all of the particles and “rebuild” the same Adam. We are called the children of Adam because in each one of us there is a fragment of him. We need to connect together and rise our inner longings and corrections of the ego to the Creator together. Today we are not in his likeness but are the complete opposite.
So it is up to us to return to our original likeness by correcting all the fragments and connecting into one single whole representing the sum total of that single Adam. This is our correction. The way toward correction is through implementing the general rule, “And you shall love your friend as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18).
Question: How is it possible to explain that there are people who suffer more and there are people who suffer less? For example, someone is born homeless and rootless and his entire life is a struggle for survival, while another is born in abundance and doesn’t experience serious obstacles and suffering in his life.
Answer: Each one of us is a different level of the spiritual Adam. He is found more in one piece and less in another. Each comes from different levels: the brain, the hands, the legs, the body, etc.
Adam is a spiritual system, but if we scrutinize him according to our body, then each one is a different part, a different root of this one big soul. Each one has a differentdestiny, different initial conditions, and of course, different final states.
As we connect together into one single likeness, each one and everything that is in him completes and balances itself. The lower a person is, the easier it is for him to enter into the required correction than another person. In the end, the specific work of each one is identical.

Endless Confrontation

laitman_552_02Question: Why should one study the wisdom of Kabbalah if a person can expect only problems? Aren’t there enough problems?
Answer: The problems of a Kabbalist have an absolutely different character—they are problems of love.
The Creator seemingly flirts with a person, hides a little, then is revealed, again hides, and again is discovered so a person will learn to identify and feel Him. In fact, the Creator is in front of one all of the time, but the person doesn’t feel Him. One lacks the possibility of feeling Him.
With the help of the work of courting the Creator, it is up to the person to find Him. Suppose that a person experiences some kind of discomfort. The Creator does this intentionally so that through it, the person will see and feel Him, and sometimes the discovery also comes in pleasant situations.
That is, all problems are designed for the discovery of the Creator on all levels and in all circumstances behind which He stands.

New Life #705 – Spiritual Sexuality

New Life #705 – Spiritual Sexuality
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe
Summary
Question: Why does sex play such a central role in our life?
Answer: It is because life is created by the connection between opposites, and the desire for sex is actually a desire for life. Our sexual desires grow during our evolution as human beings. In nature we also see that the male wants to have offspring and the female wants to belong only to him. It is rooted in us. Our attitude to sex is actually the basis for everything in our life even when we are not aware of it. Freud also spoke about it.
The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us that it stems from the upper root in which we are intended to be in coupling, in a perfect connection, in a perfect mutual connection between people, in a connection in which every individual acts both as a male and female, as the one who gives and the one who receives.
At the peak of our evolution we will reach a state in which we are connected as one, since we all stem from one soul. The greatest insight we need to acquire is that no one can fill himself and that each individual has both a male and female part in order to connect, which means the readiness to give and to receive.
The wisdom of Kabbalah deals with spiritual sexuality and tells us that it is the basis ofnature. Our whole perception of life stems from the spiritual root and includes accounts of giving and receiving, and when I connect correctly to more and more people, a corrected system of interconnection is built between us. As created beings, we all exist as a female facing the male who wants to fill us, the Creator, the upper force, the good and the benevolent. This is the ultimate joy and all our desires and passions stem from it.
Question: Why is the human sexual desire not limited to certain times in the year like in the animal world?
Answer: The more developed a species is the more unlimited it is. This is also from where the human sexual distortions stem. The wisdom of Kabbalah tells us how to reach a spiritual coupling, the ultimate connection between us regardless of sex.
The more an individual fills another in a perfect mutual manner, the more we ascend to a spiritual level of existence.
Women want to look beautiful and to attract men by nature, while men pay less attention to their looks. The sexual desire that is rooted in us since the thought of creation is to “to do good unto His created beings.” We are yet to discover the spiritual coupling!

The Creator Is The Force Of Love

laitman_610_2Question: Can we feel shame before the Creator? If so, what are we ashamed of if the Creator is the inanimate nature and not some figure that knows you and sees you? Or is there a live boss in addition to the still nature?
Answer: There is only an upper mind and force, which are revealed to us as the force of love. The force of love generates all of creation, manages it, and brings it to the state of wholeness. A Kabbalist is a person who actively participates in this process.
Question: What brings the Creator contentment and delights Him?
Answer: Resembling Him.

Can Kabbalah Be Harmful?

Question: What does the wisdom of Kabbalah give a person that religions don’t?
Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah gives a secular person a unique thing: the way to attain the upper world, the comprehension of the system that manages this world, the revelation of the Creator.
The wisdom of Kabbalah doesn’t deal with religious rites and customs. The religiousMitzvot and rites we are familiar with are laws and customs of our world. But Kabbalah deals with the laws of the upper world.
If we begin to learn these laws and try to be similar to them, then we will begin to feel and understand the upper world. The goal of the wisdom of Kabbalah is to teach a person how to attain the upper world.
Question: What is practical Kabbalah? I understand that we are speaking about a very strong connection between a Kabbalist and the Creator. Is the ritual of “The Pulsa deNura” – “lashes of fire,” thought of as practical Kabbalah?
Answer: It is simply theater, and actually there are no spells, no way to harm anyone. to do it.
There is another possibility – the evil eye. But all this is absolutely not in Kabbalah. Go to any grandmother who has such powers, and she will bring the evil eye on you. These people have a special feeling, a special wish, they can send to another person, and some internal waves affect it. So people can get sick or even die. But this is not the action of the Kabbalistic Pulsa deNura. No one knows what it is and no one knows how to do it!
A Kabbalist cannot harm anyone because the foundation of the wisdom of Kabbalah is only good.

The Upper World Is Open For Everyone

226Question: While in hiding, Kabbalah has acquired all kinds of myths like red strings, holy water, lucky charms, etc.. How can we tell the difference between the truth and a myth?
Answer: It is common knowledge that there are secrets in nature that have not been revealed by man yet, but which can be revealed. This is what science is systematically engaged in, moving forward and revealing the secrets of nature on all its levels.
There are secrets that science cannot reveal because there are forces in nature that science cannot perceive.
Anything associated with internal problems of the human prsyche, with the mechanism of thinking and understanding, is actually concealed from us and it is doubtful whether science will ever be able to reveal it.
Perhaps only on the corporeal level when we visualize the human brain as a computer, some sort of machine, which means when we relate to our brain as inanimate nature, can we study it, experiment on it, depict different features, and create mechanisms that seemingly resemble man.
Basically our inner structure is totally concealed from us. It doesn’t belong to our world because nature still exists only on three levels: the still, vegetative, and animate, while the fourth level, called man, currently does not exist in our world.
What we call human beings are actually creatures who are organized in a more sophisticate manner but not as humans in the Kabbalistic sense, which is the inner part of man by which he has to transcend the limits of our world, beyond the limits of the animate level, to the level of man, to the level of resembling the Creator and revealing Him.
There is nothing unnatural about this and it is simply the next level of consciousness, sensation, understanding, perception, and comprehension of nature that is different from ours. It is a holographic brain with intricate thinking. But in our world, these concepts don’t exist.
We feel something and see that we will not reach its real depth and don’t reach the truth because people are trying to draw a picture of the next level in their corporeal mind and feelings. But they are unable to do so because neither our feelings nor our mind are in the format that can create the picture of the upper world, to feel it or somehow draw it in itself.
We cannot enter this format. We don’t perceive radio waves, for example, but we can build instruments that can receive them. We do not perceive the upper attributes because we are opposite from them since we are egoistic creatures. The upper world is made of totally different attributes, properties of love, bestowal, altruism, outside ourselves above our egoism.
Therefore mistaken images are created in people’s minds on the corporeal level and biased speculations made regarding the wisdom of Kabbalah. In fact, the wisdom of Kabbalah tells us about the upper world and calls us to reveal it, but we have to follow special rules in order to attain it. The upper world is open for everyone to anyone who can change himself and begin to feel it.
Until then we have no choice, no tricks can help us. People may think and guess what the upper world is like and come up with different myths but it will be nothing like the real upper world.

New Life #719 – Moses And The Power Of Faith

New Life #719 – Moses And The Power Of Faith
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz
How does the struggle between Moses and Pharaoh in the story of the exodus from Egypt illustrate the opposite desires inside us? What is the force that empowers Moses when he encounters Pharaoh, and what is faith according to the wisdom of Kabbalah?
Summary
The Torah describes what happens in a person who wants to resemble the Creator.Faith is the force of love and bestowal that a person acquires in this process. It is the ability to act for the good of others and the Creator.
Every person’s nature is self love; one feels that he or she is the center of the world. In some people questions arise about the point of living? Why am I the way I am and what the purpose of it all? What is the benefit that we live and die? What should I do all this life?
Man doesn’t know the answer to these questions because he doesn’t see the whole system. In order to know it he has to get to know the general management software.
These big questions are called Moses, stemming from the Hebrew root “pull –moshech,” as they pull a person beyond himself to the goal of creation. The inner voice of Moses in a person seems to tell him to stop thinking only about his private circle and to relate to the whole general system.
Other egoistic desires rise in a person and confront Moses, pulling a person back to the desire to receive for himself. Then Moses feels that he is enslaved, totally subordinate to the huge egoism inside him. Moses discovers his connection with the upper force that controls the whole general system through “Come to Pharaoh,” and frees the desires called the children of Israel, who learn the way of love of others, from the domination of Pharaoh. The rule of love thy friend as thyself enables a person to get to know the general system, the upper force.
